Ok so 3 years later and I realize I had this whole thing already written, I just forgot to post it! Sorry guys!
CHAPTER 8: A Super Saiyan
Sure, Bardock had done a lot to piss Raditz off to the point he was just about to explode. The older Saiyan had been mocking him, scorning him, favoring that retarded Kakarot over him for no apparent reason… Earlier today he had just left Raditz in the middle of nowhere, without a second thought, without bothering to at least wake him up first, to perhaps ask if he wanted to come along and not waste the whole goddamn day searching for him, and he took Raditz's scouter to top it off.
But now, in a heartbeat, he forgot all about his indignation towards his father. Bardock was standing down there, with his back turned to Raditz, facing the other guy and seemed somehow… tense. Weird chills ran down his spine when he saw it.
Saw the other guy.
The bright golden hair. The visible aura surrounding him… The stern, green eyes. The ridiculous yet absolutely horrifying power.
Yes, even without his scouter Raditz could feel it. The air around him was wavering with energy, full of some kind of static that could tear the ground apart if it got any more intense. This guy's power level was probably skyrocketing to incredible heights, was something Raditz could have never even dreamt of having himself. It was shocking, upsetting even. There was no way to tell the guy's exact strength, and yet Raditz had a hunch even Prince Vegeta would be nothing compared to him. What the hell was going on, and what did father have to do with that person?
Curiosity won the desire of fleeing the scene altogether. Raditz landed some ten meters from his father, who was apparently too stunned by the unnatural sight to even take a notice of his presence, not that he would have acknowledged him even under normal conditions. He took a few unsure steps towards the duo, knowing full well that this might just be the worst idea he ever had.
But then he started to see something familiar about the blonde guy and in a matter of seconds could feel his insides freezing all over.
"Raditz."
No.
"I was thinking it might be you."
No….
"Long time no see."
NO.
Raditz might have muttered the last "no" out loud. Denial kicked in and he stopped right on his tracks. His father was now looking at him, as was…. Kakarot? No. It just couldn't be. Not him. Not him of all people. He did not deserve that kind of power. There was no way.
He might have looked a whole lot like his younger brother, but surely it wasn't him. Kakarot shouldn't have had blonde hair and blue eyes. Not the last time Raditz checked. Sure he was wearing the same ragged pants and was covered in bandages just like his stupid little brother but... that didn't necessarily mean anything… damn it.
"What. Is going on?!" Raditz hissed angrily. He had torn his eyes off of… the stranger, yeah, and turned to give his father a hostile look, demanding an immediate answer.
What he saw, however, was quite surprising. Bardock, who would usually just respond with one of his famous glares, was now not wearing any of those murderous expressions. There was absolutely nothing that would tell Raditz to put a cork in it and remember his place. He actually looked quite… shocked? Was that the word?
Raditz was so baffled by this sudden change in his father's attitude that, for a second, he completely forgot about his anger. In the past, he had only ever seen that rare emotion of bewilderment on his father's face for a fleeting moment, or when Bardock didn't know he was looking. The older Saiyan had always, always hid that emotion as quick as a flash, yet now he was openly goggling Raditz with the face of someone who had completely dropped their cool, somewhere along the way.
Raditz realized his father did not know what to say. He was at a honest loss of words. Had everything not indicated that there was a good reason for Bardock to be surprised, Raditz would have felt childishly victorious. But no, he just felt crankier than ever.
He turned his gaze back to the main cause of wonder. Looking into the guy's eyes, he noticed that there was some Bardock-like ruthlessness hiding behind the calm first impression. When he had spoken, the tone had been semi-friendly, but his whole essence gave out the adrenaline pumping through his veins. Raditz noted that he looked just like Bardock when he was angry but was suppressing it. He would take no shit from anybody; he clearly did not like Raditz and was downright daring him to give him one reason to snap him in two.
The feeling of fear returned, making him tremble and want to whimper away with his tail between his legs. The power level of this monster? Forget about that, he did not want to know.
Right out of the blue, the guy unexpectedly let out a heavy breath and bent down; his hair turned black, settling down to the sides of his head, forming a shape identical to Bardock's. The invisible wave of energy all around them, as well as the very much visible golden aura, faded to nothingness. The prevailing tension dropped and everything returned to normal. The almighty monster fresh from hell worse than the one Raditz had lived in was gone, and of course it had to be none other than Kakarot who hatched from it.
"Phewwww!" Kakarot whistled.
He let himself drop on his ass and formed a weak grin on his face. The anger in him was completely gone, vanished along with the explosive killer that had stood there just a second ago. He actually looked like he was in pain, which was probably a result of the laws of the universe realizing he should have been half dead in the bed.
"Wow, I'm so out of energy right now! Maintaining that form is way harder than I thought it would be!" he laughed and was as if nothing strange at all had taken place.
"Wh-what was that?! Kakarot?!" Raditz exclaimed.
Desperate for answers, confused and terrified by what he had just seen, he flew into a hysterical rage. Merely looking at his brother's retarded face had been enough to annoy him and now the idiotic little traitor dared to pull that… that thing out of nowhere!
"What the hell are you playing at?" he snarled under his breath, felt the anger throbbing violently in his head.
At some point he had sped past his father, whose stare he could now feel in his back. Kakarot was just blinking at him innocently and genuinely surprised, as if he hadn't quite caught the meaning behind Raditz's sudden outburst. Last time the two of them had seen each other, Kakarot had been afraid of him. Angry with him. Considered him as a huge threat to him and his frisky little human friends.
Now he clearly didn't even take him seriously. What was with Bardock lookalikes and their tendency to shit on everything he stood for?
"…Huh?" Kakarot said.
Raditz did not know what was going on. He did not know how his father and brother had ended up here together, what was their deal and why the hell he had been left out of this clearly important family meeting. Suddenly he was too enraged to even care.
"You ruin my life, you ruin the meaning of my life, you ruin my afterlife, and somehow you manage to appear right on THIS ONE PLANET IN THE WHOLE GODDAMN UNIVERSE to do what?! Oh, oh! TO RUIN SHIT ALL OVER AGAIN!" he rambled angrily, spicing his speech up with several gestures as he went on. "Do you even UNDERSTAND that two Earthling years ago you were barely strong enough to pass as an adult Saiyan male!? You beat me, you beat Nappa, hell, here I'm throwing a wild guess that you even beat VEGETA! You know, the same one I couldn't even get close to in strength after THIRTY YEARS! Know what, if the universe had any logic you'd have died a thousand times over BUT NO, YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO COME HERE AND FLIP ME OFF WITH THAT… THING JUST NOW!"
A heavy sigh arose behind him, followed by a familiar, jaded order. "Calm down, Raditz."
Raditz smothered the overwhelming urge to throw a fit and start mindlessly screaming at his father. He was on the edge of losing his mind and the shittiest father in existence telling him to calm down wasn't helping – he needed to concentrate on Kakarot alone.
"You're right! I guess I have improved a lot since our fight, haha!" Kakarot replied in a lighthearted tone and chuckled.
He chuckled.
"I'll kill you", Raditz said, fully intending to carry out his threat. He started walking towards his brother and by each step the desire to see him ripped apart grew stronger. "I'll kill you slowly and painfully, break you one inch at a time!"
There it was.
Worry.
There was worry in Kakarot's eyes.
A sadistic smirk crept on Raditz's face. He had all but forgotten about his own fear over the incredible power Kakarot had been emitting before. Kakarot was still badly injured, barely capable of standing up. He was weak and exhausted, and whatever that trick was that he had pulled a minute ago sure hadn't helped the case. Kakarot, too, knew it. Hell, there was a chance he wouldn't be able to put up a fight at all! Raditz was still able to look down on his travesty of a brother. Today was his lucky day.
…Not.
As soon as he was about to enjoy taking the first juicy punch at that annoying face of Kakarot's, he got violently kicked back. Unable to stop the momentum, he got flung through the air and rammed to the ground, sliding and rolling violently some thirty meters. When he finally stopped, he groaned in pain and lied there for a while, just to be sure all of his vital organs were still in check. His armor and thick hair, as usual, had softened the landing and spared him from any noticeable scratches or bruises.
"It keeps surprising me just how dumb you can be, Raditz", he heard his father scolding him in the distance.
Raditz sat quickly up, maddened by Bardock's interference. His face ached all over, thanks to the kick, and caused him to wince in pain. "Why can't you just stay out of this, old man?!"
"I'm physically younger than you."
"ARGH!" Raditz roared in frustration. Why couldn't Bardock just let him kill Kakarot for once? All this coddling and protecting and favoring were going totally over his head and it was pushing him to the limits.
"And you apparently have the memory of a goldfish, too", Bardock said, squinting his eyes maliciously. "Didn't we agree that you'd fight Kakarot only after he's up and about?"
"You alone agreed to it. Asshole", Raditz grunted.
Had it been possible, Raditz would have strangled his father then and there. He was so fed up with his unreasonable mentalities towards Kakarot. Any attempts to talk sense into him had proved futile. Raditz might have got used to humiliation, to the lack of respect and appreciation after having had to take the weakling's role in every group he had ever belonged to, but now it all had mixed in with the extreme bitterness he had always felt towards his father and nowadays also his brother. Everything was getting worse by the minute.
Speaking of the runt, Raditz noticed that his brother's gaze was flicking back and forth between Bardock and himself. He looked puzzled like he didn't know what to make out of the situation. When his eyes next met Raditz's, Raditz was sure to give him the most murderous glare his face could possibly produce. If only looks could kill.
Contemptuous snort was all Bardock bestowed upon Raditz before turning back to his youngest son. "Just ignore him. He's an imbecile, as you've probably noticed by now."
"So… I take it you guys know each other?" Kakarot asked.
Raditz, standing up and angrily fluttering his hair of all the dirt it had picked up sweeping the ground, rolled his eyes. Just how slow was that idiot?
"Unfortunately", Bardock replied.
"I love you too." Raditz's voice was ridden with utter sarcasm.
Kakarot's confused frown unveiled the fact that the younger Saiyan still didn't understand the connection between himself and Bardock. As a result, Raditz got to thoroughly enjoy the look of disbelief on Bardock's face. Who was the imbecile now? Huh? Huh?
"You didn't tell him", Raditz said.
"Tell me what?" Kakarot asked.
Not even bothering to reply, Bardock kept looking away from both of his sons. It was a wasted effort though, because Raditz could still easily detect the uneasy expression on his pops' mug.
Sudden feeling of amusement struck him and he burst out laughing. "Oh my god!"
His father turned his head a bit to glare at Raditz with one eye, obviously annoyed by his loud response to the situation. The gesture demanded him to shut his face, but Raditz was no longer the obedient little kid he had once been around the older Saiyan.
"Tell me you didn't actually think he, the brain-damaged retard, would recognize you!" he exclaimed almost gleefully.
"Recognize him?" Kakarot asked, turning his eyes on Bardock. "What do you mean?"
The look on the idiot's face reminded Raditz of the day he had landed on that weird, tiny island and Kakarot hadn't had a clue of what he was. Although, this time he didn't seem to be quite as reserved; obviously because Bardock couldn't wait to be best buddies with the worst excuse of a Saiyan the world could possibly be damned with. Surely Kakarot wouldn't be all so friendly with Bardock if he had known just how much their father would despise that whiny kid of his.
"Do you see now?" Raditz asked with a dry laugh, pointing both of his hands at Kakarot as an exaggerated way to remark that he was, indeed, right about his brother's utter and unfathomable stupidity. "Do you see what a moron he is?!"
"Hey!" Kakarot exclaimed, but Raditz ignored his pouty, offended face.
"Raditz, if you value your thick skull, you'll shut the hell up", Bardock growled.
It was Raditz's turn to snort and look at his father with one of his expressions of dismissal. It was a dangerous thing to do, and could result in him being hurled out and into the vast space to keep company to the rest of the frozen pieces of vagabond Saiyan corpses, but at the moment Raditz really didn't have the patience to be careful around his father.
"Kakarot, you idiot, can't you guess who he is?" Raditz asked, loudly and malevolently when addressing his brother.
"I kinda just met him? But sure, he's Bardock ain't he?" Kakarot replied as-a-matter-of-factly, as if that was exactly the answer Raditz had been after.
Raditz raised his eyebrows at him mockingly. "And that's it? Just Bardock? Bardock the Random Saiyan?"
All the hints were clearly too much for a brain that was pea sized at its very best. Kakarot kept blinking at him like he wasn't completely sure what to say. Just how could someone like that beat Nappa, possibly even Vegeta? He clung to the belief that Kakarot and his pathetic human friends were just abusing the power of their weird magic objects, granting him strength he couldn't possibly have gained otherwise.
"Holy shit, you're stupid", Raditz stated. He honestly couldn't believe this guy. "Don't you see anything weird about him? At all?!"
When he looked and saw his father's why-is-this-happening face, he grinned victoriously. To him, it felt like he was winning something every time he could make Bardock lose some of his calm.
"I guess… I thought it was odd that he looks a bit like me", Kakarot admitted while staring focusedly at Bardock, his non-existent brain clearly working hard to make clear of the situation.
"A bit? A bit?! In case the two of you haven't noticed, you're pretty much IDENTICAL!" Raditz snapped.
It wasn't unusual for Saiyans to inherit the hairstyle or general looks of the other parent, but it was still weird that, save for the scar and eyes, Kakarot was the splitting image of their dad. Raditz was thankful they didn't also share a name like Prince Vegeta and the king did. And the planet. Those egoistical bastards.
"Raditz, drop it", Bardock said, this time more sternly.
"Fat chance!" Raditz barked. "Kakarot, do you really think it is a coincidence that you two look the same?"
It was then that Kakarot's out-and-out confused attitude seemed to crackle a bit and there was a hint of premonition in his eyes. Finally, he was suspecting something.
"Do you even remember what I said when we met back on Earth?" Raditz asked.
"That you'd kill me, my son and everyone else on Earth?" Kakarot said in a surprisingly cynical tone of voice.
Raditz gritted his teeth angrily at the remark. "No! Moron! About your looks!"
"No! I don't!" Kakarot said impatiently. There was a frown on his face like he really didn't enjoy being treated like a complete idiot, which he obviously was.
"Fine, I'll spell it out for you. I recognized you because you looked just like our father!" Raditz revealed, giving his brother a wide grin of pure mockery.
Silence fell upon them. Raditz looked closely as the words sunk into his brother's head, bringing surprise on his face. Kakarot's eyes widened as he looked at Bardock, and one could clearly see as the bafflement crumbled off and was replaced by that bright look of a sudden realization.
"Oh", he said. "OH…"
From the corner of his eye, Raditz could see his embarrassed and quite likely annoyed father burying his face in his hand.
"So you're my... dad?!" Kakarot exclaimed. He had his finger pointed at Bardock.
"And here you were saying I'm the imbecile with the memory of a goldfish. Really, dad? Really?" Raditz chuckled. There were no words to describe how satisfied he was with himself. He doubted he could have felt this good even if he had beat his father in an actual fight.
Goku wasn't quite as shocked as he had been when he had learned the truth about Raditz, but it was always a bit upsetting to meet biological relatives and whatnot. To think that two years ago grandpa Gohan was the only "relative" he thought he had! He gaped at Bardock in awe, and the guy kept glancing back at him and then looking away like he didn't fancy direct eye contact.
Guess this explained why the two of them looked so similar. Goku saw some differences here and there though, so he didn't know what Raditz was getting at calling them identical. The dude was wearing different clothing and all and the chronic, grumpybutt-look on his face reminded Goku much more of Vegeta than himself. What the heck was up with Saiyans and frowny faces anyway? They should learn to take it more easy.
Was the whole dad-thing the reason Bardock had been acting so weird ever since they had run into each other earlier? Goku had been wary at first because as he was barely in a condition to fight and because, from his experience, Saiyans had this thing for killing things at first sight. But Bardock, despite being all serious and mean-looking, hadn't tried to kill him even once! That was a new record.
Either way, Bardock had then been very curious about Goku, asking about Freeza and stuff. He wouldn't tell Goku how he knew about their fight, but Goku had seen enough psychics in his life to not really care. Goku had told him about the Super Saiyan or whatever Vegeta called it, and that's when Bardock had become really weird. It was like he had believed and not believed it at the same time, wanted Goku to show him.
This time around transforming had tired him out really fast. He felt really weak at the moment, his whole body ached and he was completely out of energy. Having Raditz appear and go bananas on him could have ended bad for him, hadn't it been for Bardock.
Felt kinda stupid that, after kicking Freeza's butt, he could barely defend himself against someone Yamcha's level. He wondered if he could train himself to bear the form a bit better, like he once trained his tail to withstand squeezing. He would have to give it a try once he would be able to transform again, but that wouldn't be anytime soon and for now it probably wasn't the most important thing to think about.
"So, what now, Kakarot? Are you going to deny it again?" Raditz said after the silence had dragged on long enough. "Because, remember, you're not a Saiyan, right? He can't possibly be your father if you're one of them pathetic humans!"
Something was clearly bugging Raditz. Though he seemed to be glad about something at the moment, he switched back and forth between angry and jolly and acted like he had got some personal grudges towards both Goku and Bardock. He probably was angry with Goku for getting him killed but… it was his own fault for being evil and stuff.
"Nah, he's cool I guess", Goku said with a shrug. "Though it is kinda hard to see him as a dad considering I just met him. By the way, shouldn't you be dead? I've been told you all kinda kicked the bucket when your planet blew up."
He had been wondering about it. How on earth did they get here? And why?
Bardock, who had been mostly quiet and lost in thought thorough the whole conversation, finally turned to properly face him. He no longer seemed so freaked out by the transformation. "I guess I should. Both me and Raditz were dead less than a day ago. I don't how we ended up here on this planet, or why we are alive."
"I see…" Goku said and then smiled at the – possibly – older Saiyan. He wondered if someone had used the dragon balls to wish the two of them back. "It's a funny coincidence, to think we are all on the same planet!"
"You think?" Raditz said, scowling at him.
Being pretty sure he had just been confronted with sarcasm, Goku ignored the question. He instead looked at the man who was supposedly his dad, now with a more serious expression. "Are you a bad guy like Raditz?"
The question seemed to surprise the two.
"Bad guy like m— Can you believe this guy?!" Raditz exclaimed at Bardock.
"He has every reason to despise you", Bardock said in a tone that revealed all his ill feelings towards the long haired Saiyan.
"Oh yeah? Well, Kakarot, let me tell you what! He's just like me. No wait, he's worse! Bardock isn't only a ruthless killing machine, he's also the most antisocial, most insensitive asshole you'll ever meet. Not to mention, a shitty father!" Raditz ranted, seriously irked by something Goku couldn't quite understand.
"You mean like Vegeta?"
Raditz paused. "Fine, Vegeta wins the first prize, but you get the point!"
All the accusations seemed to fall on deaf ears for Bardock. He just stood there, staring calmly at Goku without so much as a blink, and Goku wasn't sure what to think of that.
"I haven't seen him running around threatening to kill everyone, though", Goku noted, and when he glanced at Raditz he let it be known that the sentence was supposed to go on: Unlike a certain someone.
Raditz was already gaping in order to snap back at him but was interrupted by Bardock, who decided to finally speak for himself.
"I don't care for the weak, Kakarot", he said, totally collected. "I am a Saiyan, after all."
"There you have it." Raditz smirked victoriously.
Goku couldn't help but feel disappointed, even if it was foolish to expect Bardock to be any different from the rest of the people Goku unfortunately had to call his "own". Why couldn't Saiyans just enjoy fighting without having to massacre every people they came across with? It was honestly getting tiring to meet a Saiyan after Saiyan who just wanted to destroy and destroy and destroy.
"Man. Can't you guys be nice for once?" he complained out loud.
Bardock didn't seem to mind his judgment. He was completely content with being a cold-blooded murderer, maybe even proud of it, which was kind of bothersome because he unlike Raditz wasn't showing any signs of hostility towards Goku and his mentalities. And if he wasn't on "Goku's side", then why had he defended him against Raditz?
"Tch", Raditz snorted in what seemed to be disgust. "You don't deserve 'nice'. You're nothing but a pathetic traitor, and if it wasn't for father, I'd have killed you the second you dropped out of that space pod!"
This surprised Goku even further. Bardock hadn't saved him just once, but twice? It was kind of hard to believe that someone who did that would be completely evil. Maybe this Saiyan was more like Piccolo these days: grumpy and seemingly loyal to his old ways, but still "kind of good".
"The Saiyans are basically extinct", Bardock spoke, as if to answer a question Goku never asked, "even if I don't agree with your ways, I see no point in killing off one of the last members of our race. You had no people to stay loyal to, and whatever it was that you did with your life up until this point was automatically better than submitting to Freeza."
At that point Raditz received an exceptionally loathing glare from his dad and he turned his eyes on the ground in embarrassment. Hadn't he known the truth back when he came to earth? When Goku thought about it, he couldn't recall Raditz ever even mentioning Freeza to him.
"Right. Wasn't Freeza the one who destroyed your planet?" Goku thought out loud.
Bardock nodded. "I tried to stop him myself."
"Wow", Goku said and uttered a stunned laugh. "I bet you didn't stand a chance!"
For some reason, the muscles on Bardock's face twitched when he said that.
Raditz, who had been quiet for the longest time so far, rushed back into the conversation. "Wait a minute. How does Kakarot know about Freeza betraying the Saiyans? Did you tell him?"
Oh yeah. Raditz was completely out of the loop when it came to the battle on Namek and Freeza's demise. It was funny to think that while it was all thanks to Raditz that most of the events had taken place at all, he himself knew nothing about his role in it.
"Vegeta told me", Goku replied truthfully. "Before he died."
This was clearly a shock to Raditz.
"YOU ACTUALLY KILLED VEGETA?!" he screamed at the top of his lungs. His eyes had gotten so wide that Goku was worried they might even spring out of their sockets.
"No! Freeza did! Jeez!" Goku corrected, raising his arms up defensively. "Besides, I think he's alive. They wished back a whole bunch of dead people with the Dragon Balls while I was fighting Freeza, I think he was among them." He paused and wondered if that wish was what had caused Raditz and Bardock to come back to life, too. It would be weird, though…
Judging by the looks on their faces, he didn't think they completely understood what he was talking about.
"Freeza?" Raditz asked in disbelief. "You… what?"
It was apparently Bardock's turn to smirk. He looked almost mischievous as he slowly turned to Raditz, with an expression that basically said: Oh, you know nothing yet.
"Kakarot defeated Freeza."
The dismay on Raditz's face when he heard those words was indescribable. It was like all limits of his capability to understand, let alone believe, had been crossed right then and there. Goku thought it was pretty understandable, what with his power having dramatically increased since the two of them fought. After all, Freeza had been really strong and… Raditz kinda weak…
"Yeah, right", Raditz snorted in an overly nervous tone of voice. "Drop the horseshit. I'm tired of it."
Bardocks smirk widened, and he pointed at the remains that had shortly before been a scouter. Goku could only wonder what was up with scouters and exploding.
"That exploded when reading his power level. It was so high it got overloaded."
For a second, Raditz just looked blankly at the scouter and Goku couldn't tell if the tall Saiyan was being overwhelmed by the truth or if he was just mourning the loss of the handy device.
"There is no way he could defeat Freeza", Raditz said, sounding exceptionally serious. "Even Prince Vegeta would have been crushed by him, and he's stronger than me, you, Kakarot or really any Saiyan I've ever known! You don't reach such strengths in a lifetime, let alone two years!"
"But I did", Goku assured. He stubbornly looked Raditz in the eye and when he did so, he felt kind of proud of himself. He had really gotten far this year! "Freeza was really, really tough. But then he killed my friend and I snapped. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I guess I changed somehow."
"What are you talking about?" Raditz growled angrily.
"He is a Super Saiyan", Bardock replied before Goku could, putting a strong emphasis on the last two words.
Raditz seemed to freeze all over. He just stared at Goku and Bardock, for many seconds, and they stared back while waiting for his response. Goku noted that Raditz had earlier looked very similar when he had fled into the scene and witnessed his transformation. So had Bardock. And Freeza. And Gohan, too.
Transforming had to look scary, Goku thought.
"Super Saiyan is just a legend", Raditz finally muttered, shaking his head in denial. "A stupid tale they told to little brats. Such a thing doesn't exist!"
Funny, Goku thought. That was exactly what Freeza kept chanting.
"Really?" Bardock said, amused. "But you saw it with your own eyes. Don't tell me you didn't feel that power."
Frustration made Raditz utter a nervous growl, but he apparently couldn't come up with a witty comeback.
"Just accept it already. Your little brother has done what no Saiyan has been known to do since the ancient legends", Bardock continued. "He became a Super Saiyan. And he has avenged the Saiyan race!"
"I was actually avenging Kuririn", Goku pointed out, but was completely ignored.
A moment passed and Raditz spent it glowering at Bardock in an angry silence. He was probably trying to digest everything he had just heard, or trying to work his way around it.
And then he just gave up on everything.
"OK. That's it", he said. "That's it. I'm out."
He relaxed his muscles and stood straight up. He gave Goku a look of complete indifference, one that at the same was incredibly bitter and full of some kind of disgust, and blasted off.
Again, Goku was left alone with Bardock.
