When past meets present:
Chapter 8:
What lies beyond the open door.
As he lay on the bed, Takashi felt a jolt of pain shot up from his shin. He was alone, the lights dim. The room seemed dark for a hospital, but he didn't let that faze him. Sitting up, he rubbed his shin. Looking at the birthmark, he could only sigh. The dragon was white and strangely, it reached his knee. Gasping, Takashi went into a mini panic attack. When since the dragon got this big? He then went back to lying down.
Takashi wondered where he was. Walking, he noticed that he was walking a hallway. The walls were white with streaks of blue. Takashi trailed his hand on the wall; it was as smooth as silk. The atmosphere was cold, even ice was dangling from the ceiling like stalactites. Approaching the bright light at the end of the hall, he had the worst idea what lies ahead. Deciding to turn back, he turned but behind him was nothing but darkness. Taking a sigh, he proceeded forward. Within no time, he reached the open door. Inside the room was like the Antarctic. The air was frigid and dry, frost rising in the air from the frozen ice on the floor. Takashi continued inwards, looking around in amazement. Is this a dream? When he reached far inwards, he heard a slam. The door had shut. Running back to the direction of the door, the frost became so thick he couldn't see where the door was. Turning back around, he found that the frost had cleared to reveal another door. However, this door was falling off its hinges. Approaching it, he held the knob and pulled. Nothing happened. The white door was cold but there wasn't any ice on it. Taking a peek inside, he noticed that all he could see was dismal darkness. Putting a hand on the door, another hand grabbed him. The hand was white and cold; Takashi looked up from the hand to see where the hand originated. He looked up to meet the frozen stare of beautiful ultramarine eyes. Takashi used his free hand to try to get Dracos' hand off his wrist. Sadly, that effort was futile. Takashi could see the ice crawling all over his body. He knew he was freezing. The ice covered him except his head, and that was when Dracos finally let go of his hands.
"Embrace my cold."
"N-Ne-Never," Takashi said, shivering from the blistering cold.
"Then I'll take over body and you'll be trapped here instead." Dracos smiled. Takashi had fear screaming in his bones but he was frozen solid. There was nothing he could do.
Deciding to not give up, Takashi reached for his kunai pouch, strapped onto his leg. It was a difficult task, being that his body was covered with ice. Stretching, and trying, he finally got one kunai. Slowly, he was digging his way out of the ice. Once cracked, Takashi used his chakra to break through the ice. Nothing. The ice remained cracked, but nothing happened.
"I guess there's only one way." Takashi sighed as he realized that he'd be stuck here, wherever 'here' was. Feeling the cold on his skin, he decided to embrace it. He thought of the cold and ice. He imagined lying in the snow; he imagined being covered with soothing ice. Not long after, the ice surrounding his body dissolved. But there was a snicker.
"I like you now. It's good that you've embraced my cold." Dracos laughed. "But you've fallen for my trap."
"What trap?"
"Embracing my cold, means that you make it easier for me to take you over." Shocked, Takashi ran away from the sealed door, into the thick frost. He searched earnestly for the open door, wanting to escape the place. Remembering what he just did, Takashi thrust his hand forward, palm open, hoping to move the frost. It responded, and he was able to see where he was going. He spotted the open door, and placed chakra in his feet and within seconds he was back in the hall. Running, he saw a white light approaching him from behind. He dared not to look, but then he heard Dracos' voice.
You will not escape me.
Frightened, Takashi let out a scream, as the white light engulfed him.
Jumping up, Takashi saw that he was in a bed, in a frost covered room. The ground was ice and even the ceiling. Terrified, he jumped out of his bed and in the process of running to the door, he skidded. Getting up onto his footing, he turned the knob, and saw that he was in the hospital.
"You can't escape me!" that was Dracos' voice. Screaming, Takashi ran even faster. The pain in his abdomen had disappeared, but all he could see was ice and heard Dracos' voice in his head. Hearing the screams, Gai, Kurenai and Anko looked in the direction and saw the speeding teen.
"Is he getting mad?" Anko asked.
"Is it just me or does that boy resemble Kakashi way too much?" Kurenai asked.
"He does resemble Kakashi. I wonder if it's his son." Gai chuckled. "I remember the first time I saw him."
"Kakashi's too young to have a son that old." Kurenai countered. "And plus, he didn't socialize that much anyway when he was younger to have a girlfriend."
"How are you so sure?" Anko smirked.
Takashi was now in earshot of them, and they all looked at him with shock. Getting up, they motioned to stop him as a patient running around isn't something that should be. Seeing them, Takashi screamed, as they looked like frozen demons. Their skins were a sickly blue while their eyes were pupil less and glowed bright white. Stumbling backwards, he heard Dracos' laughter.
"You have done this to them. You have embraced my cold, and the price is this." He could feel Dracos' breath cold against the nape of his neck, causing him to stiffen. "You're mine now."
"I couldn't have possibly done this." Takashi said, close to tears. "I couldn't have!" Takashi grabbed his head with both hands and crumbled to the floor. Gai, Kurenai and Anko rushed to the boy, holding him.
"Hey, are you alright?" Kurenai asked. Takashi pushed her away, terrified. He retreated from them, going back down the hall. However, a doctor was at his rescue.
"Doctor Jin," Gai breathed. The doctor was the same one for Kakashi and in his hand, held a syringe. Timing him just right, the doctor then jammed Takashi his in neck with the sedative, putting him to rest.
"What's happening?" Gai asked. "First Kakashi, now his look alike?"
"To be honest," the doctor said. "I have no clue."
Leaving the hospital with a cloud of worry, Gai, Kurenai, and Anko walked to meet Genma and Asuma with Lord Hokage. They didn't get far, as there was the Hokage with the two ninjas. His face was very serious, after being informed from Genma and Asuma.
"Lord Third!" Gai said.
"I've already been informed ―"
"It didn't end there. Kakashi was scraping at the walls, and his look alike was experiencing the same thing too."
"It seems that I'd have to re-seal that dragon." Hiruzen said looking at the ninjas. "You'll be needed to hold him down as we won't be dealing Kakashi during the sealing process."
"Yes sir!"
