Okay guys, after a losing most of my recent work in a crash, I have finally produced a new chapter for you all. I hope you enjoy and review.

Chapter 9

Gemma:

I didn't feel the slightest tinge of remorse for slipping Wendy that needle. I hoped she would plunge it in her arm and slip away just the way she should. Right before I entered the elevator, I heard a nurse from that direction yell, "Someone help, get the crash cart, she's coding!"

I smiled as the elevator doors closed and we sank to the second floor where I would see my only grandson.

His little arms folded against his tiny chest and his eyes danced beneath his lids while he slept so soundly. I sighed, wishing I could free him from the incubator and hold him in my arms for the first time. I was content with helping Jax raise Abel. I could be sure he would be brought up with the right principals. I sure didn't want him taking after his junkie mother. I knew there wasn't much time. Hospital security was probably already on their way to find me. I glanced around to find the stairs, but before I could make it to the stairwell I heard a familiar voice.

"Gemma," he said. I turned to find my long time friend, chief of Charming police, Wayne Unser.

"Hi, Wayne." I replied, giving him a warm smile as I walked back toward him. He stared into the window at the tiny baby.

"Hi, sweetheart," he greeted, kissing me gently on the cheek as he always did. "I have some bad news."

"Of course you do." I said with a sigh. "What now?"

"Well," he began, "It's Jax and his little friend." I rolled my eyes, having known this would come. Wayne continued, "Jax assaulted her father when he attempted to bring her home from Jax's house tonight. I'm on my way now to pick him up."

"Assaulted the girl's father?!" I asked in disbelief. He shrugged; I supposed Jax would do a thing like that if he felt like he needed to. Wayne mumbled something about calling Jax and having a shitty night before making his way back toward the elevator. I took a moment to try and reach my son. He answered on the second ring.

"Jax?" I said into the phone to be returned by his calm tone.

"Whats up, Mom?" he asked. I couldn't tell him what I had just done, but I had to warn him about Wayne. First, however, I would hear what he had to say about the incident before I opened my mouth.

"So I guess you think this little piece of pussy is worth going to jail over?" I inquired in a snarky tone. I heard him sigh. Before he could answer, I spat, "She damn well better be worth a shit."

Of course he took offense. "Mom, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. You have no idea what happened here tonight." He replied, seemingly unangered.

"I know exactly what happened there, Jackson. You started thinking with your dick." I raised my voice slightly, unintentionally.

"Was there a reason you called, or was it just to bitch over nothing?" he asked, I could tell he was speaking to someone else in the background.

"Unser is on his way to pick you up on assault charges." I said before hanging up on his rude ass.

Autumn:

Jax dropped the phone from his ear, as if he had been disconnected. I admired his club tattoo from behind as he stood in the middle of the room perfectly still. He lived and breathed SAMCRO and I respected him for that. Soon he turned to face me, "I've gotta take you home." He said. My heart sank, I wasn't ready to face my father.

"Please don't." I replied hastily. He sighed, long and heavy before speaking again.

"Your father is pressing assault charges against me, Autumn."

Assault charges? "Can he do that?" I asked, scared Jax would get in trouble.

"Yeah, of course I'm going to need you to tell the officer what happened here tonight. Won't keep me from staying a night in the slammer, but it will keep you from having to go home to your pissed off father."

I thought about it, knowing the repercussions of my decision would ring beyond the immediate. I knew I couldn't let my feelings for Jax allow me to make another stupid decision. If I told the police my father abused me, I would surely be taken away from him, but my sister would also.

"I'll tell the police what happened, but I have to go home. I can't say my father abuses me. He's only ever hit me when I did something wrong." I admitted to him.

"This time you didn't do anything wrong. At least he doesn't know what really happened." He spoke softly, running his fingers through his blonde locks.

I nodded and searched around for my shoes. Jax walked swiftly in front of me and out into the hallway. I took advantage of the view and inspected his bottom as he bent to retrieve clothes from the dryer. When he returned, I noticed he had gotten my clothes from Alvarez's house and he washed them for me. I thanked him. I had been worried about going home in clothes that weren't mine.

I excused myself to the bathroom to change, placing the clothes the Mexican woman gave me in the hamper. The mirror held a natural face, devoid of any cosmetic enhancement. My round green eyes were stark against my fair pallor and my lack of sleep was evident in my face. I strode to the door and found that the police had already arrived. One man; a short, balding, leather faced cop. I made my way to the front doorway where he was speaking to Jax.

"Miss Rogan, my name is Chief Unser." Said the cop, extending his large hand. I accepted his handshake and replied, "You can call me Autumn."

"Autumn, you're seventeen, why are you here hanging out with Jax?" he asked, more directly than I would have liked.

"I met him at a party, and I lied about my age. He was into me and I knew he would let me crash here for a couple days so when things got tense with my father, I took him up on his offer." The lie slid like butter off my tongue.

"And why did Jax feel the need to punch your father in the jaw?" was his next, direct, question. I sighed.

"We were sleeping in separate bedrooms, I woke up to the sound of the table falling over. When I came into the room, Jax was on the floor and my dad was trying to hit him. My dad saw me in one of Jax's shirts and assumed we were sleeping together." I explained, "He slapped me in the face and Jax elbowed him and pushed him out." I reached up to my swollen lip.

"Alright. Do you want to file charges, Jax?" he inquired, Jax shook his head. "Listen, I'm not taking you to jail for doing what I would have done, but you, Autumn, are going home."

I sighed. I didn't want to go home, but I knew I would be going sooner or later, so I hugged Jax with both arms and he returned it whole heartedly. Before I could pull away and leave with Chief Unser, he pushed the hair out of my face and kissed me gently on the forehead and muttered, "Stay safe."
