The coach part of the plane was crammed full of people. At least that is what it felt and looked like. I didn't even have a familiar face with me since Jasper had to move his seat since the airline double booked his seat and the man sitting in it refused to take the free upgrade to first class. So no I am seat mates with a man older than my dad leering at me and also smells worse than Mike Newton did this morning. I would never be any happier about a two-hour layover than the one waiting for us in New York.
Once the plane landed in New York I got off the plane as soon as I possibly could. I waited by the baggage claim for Jasper but he found me before I had even spotted him. He also had our bags sitting beside him.
"We could grab something to eat before heading over to the departure gate."
"I'm not all that hungry but I could grab a few things in case I get hungry on the flight." I replied.
"That's not a bad idea god only knows what they are serving as a meal if they do serve one."
Jasper and I looked around for a while before grabbing some food and heading to the gate we would board our plane. We waited for what I would guess was just over an hour for our flight number to be called. We sat together and talked about how we thought the trip was going to go.
He was excited as it would be his only way to travel outside of where the US Army sent him and that seemed like it would be Iraq or Afghanistan these days.
"Flight 5631 from New York to Heathrow now boarding." A gentle female voice called over the intercom system.
"That's us." Jasper said. "Do you need help with anything?"
"We have already checked our bags and I can carry my carry-on all by myself but thank you. Hope fully neither of us has to move our seat."
"Tickets please?"
Jasper and I showed her our tickets.
"Go ahead and your seats should be located on the left three rows in front of the restrooms."
"Thanks ma'am" I replied.
Jasper and I found our seats with no problem and we were four rows ahead of the bathrooms not three like the lady said but we liked them just fine. Jasper put our carry-on's away (I was too short to do my own) and sat down in the seat closest to the window, sat back and relaxed.
I did the same as Jasper and soon found myself falling asleep even before the plane took off.
"Excuse me please remain up right until the plane is up in the air. The sign will glow when you can recline your seats and get some rest."
"Sorry, I forgot about take off."
"That's okay." She said. "You would not be the first or the last."
