The trajectory of the volley released by the unknown spaceship was wide spread, neither guardian able to escape the impact zone. The last thing Mothra saw before the canisters touched down was the looming shadow of Godzilla as he stood before her to stave off at least some of the incoming projectiles with his atomic blast. However, there were no resultant explosions following each collision around them. As the heavy cloud settled around them, both kaiju looked on warily at each of the massive canisters. Unlike the parent ship that had released them, the texture of the metal of the containers did appear as exotic. Instead, they looked no different from re-purposed farm silos. Some of them were already oozing out their contents, luminous and steaming radioactive waste.

Perplexed, Mothra lofted herself higher to see the small patch of radioactive wasteland around them. Godzilla, on the other hand, stood in the largest of the puddles. Almost immediately, his injuries were healing. Scorched scales were slopping off while new ones emerged from underneath immediately; wounds receded until the reptilian giant was in perfect condition. As Mothra looked up to where the strange ship was, it had already vanished. She looked on in wonder, her thoughts brushed aside as her companion spoke.

"They are fools. All of them!" he barked out, a guttural chortle heard after as Godzilla looked around at the glowing puddles of radioactive sludge at his feet. "Did they believe that this would stop me? This, this is what I am!" Stomping his broad feet into pools of glowing sludge, he was the image of an ecstatic child trampling through a muddy field after a heavy his self-revelry he belted out a series of triumphant roars and blasts of radiation. They would pay dearly for their mistake.

Bemused, Mothra allowed his cheer for a few moments more before she deemed it necessary to rein him back in. "I believe it was neither an attack, nor was it our enemies," she chimed in, drifting close and past him. "It… resembled their ships, but it was not." As she trailed off, Mothra could make out the dismissive growl in Godzilla's throat. Her compound eyes flashed in mild irritation of his inability to trust her judgment without having her to physically pummel him or berate him. However, she too dismissed him and began to fly once more in the direction of the distant beacon, all the while thinking back on the strange vessel that seemed to have been there to aid them, or more importantly, aid Godzilla.

Godzilla remained frowning visibly after the female as she flew ahead of him. Reptilian eyes maintained the long, hard stare before he snorted audibly and trudged after her. His demeanor suggested that of a child left alone to play by himself after his friends deserted him over his behavior. The landscape before them was relatively calmer the further they traveled, but looks would always be deceiving. Low rumbles beneath his massive clawed feet constantly kept the male kaiju on edge, so much so that every so often, he would abruptly slam his tail down on the dry red soil as a preëmptive warning for anything lurking underneath. To his surprise, the ground began to quake once more as if replying to his earlier thudding.

"Godzilla!" called out the giant butterfly as she weaved past a bolt of energy aimed at her.

The large reptilian kaiju felt as if he had received an upper-cut to his jaw, his eyes only catching a glimpse of Mothra avoided a series of rays of energy before he saw only stars. As his colossal frame crashed upon the dusty red surface, he saw just what had hit him. All around him, slabs of glowing stone were oscillating around, as if the moon they were on was literally breathing rhythmically as it formed a ring of pulsating stone pillars around Godzilla. Through the openings provided as some slabs descended and others rose, he saw his partner's assailant, or rather, assailants. Moguera. While it was directly attacking her at that time, the second attacker was well on its way towards the butterfly, its tentacles reaching out in almost a mindless, catatonic state.

Quickly, Godzilla scrambled to his feet and began to lash away at the nearest pillar with heavy swipes of his tail. The first crumbled away after a few harsh strikes, but the opening was nowhere nearly as wide as he needed to it to be, even for an attempted squeeze-through. As his claws reached between to attempt to severe the next pillar by whatever roots was binding it to the moon, the male was reeled back by an abrupt seizing of his tail. Yelling out in anger, he thrashed against the hold of whatever was pulling him back. Claws raked through the surface, finding enough purchase to stop and jerk his tail free.

Varan. For once, Godzilla did not seek out to violently attack as was his usual preëmptive style. However, no sooner had his jaws opened to call out to his former ally, the other male's long arm reached out to slash across Godzilla's face with razor tips at the end of slim digits. Reeling back with an outcry of pain, the bulkier reptile replied with his usual over-the-top fashion. His head snapped forward and immediately blasted back at the monstrous monitor lizard with his atomic breath, knocking back the latter against the opposite side of the stone pillar ring before collapsing onto the ground.

Sparing no chance against a counter-attack, Godzilla heaved his chest, sucking in a great amount of breath before attempting unleash until torrent of radiation upon the fallen creature. Whatever the aliens had done to his companion was regardless. He needed to finish Varan off as quickly as possible before Mothra was overwhelmed by the returned Moguera and Gezora. His opponent, though, would not be so easy vanquish as the others had been, Varan jerking himself over onto his stomach quickly before abruptly charging Godzilla with a harsh head butting to the latter's abdomen. The blast of radiation that erupted out went wild, easily missing the top of Varan's head and impacting against the smoldering pillars around them; the resultant loose debris showered both monsters with sizeable chunks of rock. His breath ragged from two consecutive blasts, Godzilla realized that he would have to take down his former comrade claw to claw.

Mothra knew immediately that aid would not be coming as soon as she saw the ring of smoldering pillars of stone surrounded the other guardian kaiju. For all his want of destruction, she briefly mused, he was a guardian of the Earth. She would not allow her thoughts to remain on him for long, her focus required on facing against two enemies at once. Exchanging beam attacks with her mechanical opponent, she expertly landed two for every one she avoided from Moguera. For the moment, she had the advantage, even if it was a steadily decreasing one. Soon enough, Gezora would be within range to lash out at her.

Roars ripped from the confines of the ring of stone pillars as both reptilian kaiju exchanged blows. While Varan had reach, and Godzilla was far from flexible, the latter one was nothing if not resilient. Charging through Varan's far-reaching claws, the other responded with the heavier weight of his own scaled fists. However, just like with Gezora before, Godzilla felt something amiss. This close to the thing that so accurately resembled Varan, he sensed something even if he could not pinpoint it. The scent was not a perfect match, maybe the scales were the wrong shade at specific parts of his opponent's body. Whatever the reason was, Godzilla no longer had to hold back. Whatever this thing was that was attacking him, it needed to be killed. Godzilla swung wildly with his gargantuan fists, feeling a jaw crack beneath the weight of a punch. Down and dirty, the reptilian guardian repeatedly slammed the disoriented Varan against the charred pillar ring, each time the sense of dead weight increasing as the thing resembling Varan gradually lose consciousness. Soon, its life would follow, Godzilla thought to himself matter-of-factually. It was not Varan, but even Varan himself would be slayed mercilessly if he impeded Godzilla's progress.

Mothra screeched as one of her eye beam bolts manage to tear away at some of the armored face plating of the new Moguera's head, exposing soulless optics that whirred and spun within its now vulnerable confines to get a fix on the evading giant target. Even with half of its head missing, the mechanical monstrosity relentlessly continued its attacks. As the female flanked aside to avoid the next set of beams shot out from still functional robotic eyes, Gezora was rose its tentacles high and wide. It was becoming an increasingly difficult task to both avoid the attacks from Moguera as well as avoid the flailing limbs from the giant cephalopod. She had only just managed a near grazing shot to her thorax carapace when Mothra was deftly swatted out of the air like a common housefly. Her entire body crashed upon the rust hued surface, sending waves of thick obscuring dust in all directions. Wings flapped desperately to bring her into the air once more, only to feel the heavy weight of tentacles repeatedly slam down upon her body, effectively keeping her pinned. While they were by no means threatening to her resilient insect frame, each strike surprisingly weak for such a large creature, Gezora's limbs nevertheless prevented her from getting off of the ground. It was not the Gezora that worried Mothra, but rather the approaching mechanical monster that was tilting its damaged head in her direction. The entirety of its cranial compartment whirred to life, lights blazing around the optics as it prepared to vaporize the female kaiju. Compound eyes stared on stoically as she awaited her fate.
