Sorry it's late and so short but I've been busy with work and Uni but here is the conclusion of the story.
Hotch's grip on the steering wheel tightened as yet another song began to play through Spencer's phone. This time one he recognised, A Thousand Years. He glanced over to the passenger side, tears were trickling down his surrogate son's face and he could hear Carrie's sobs coming through the phone. At least with the unsubs distracted by the music the team had more time to get there and save their family.
When Cleaning This Gun by Rodney Atkins came on Spencer chuckled slightly. That is until Carrie's panicked voice sharply took over the music, "Get off! No! Leave him alone!" There was a slight scuffle on the other end of the phone and the pair could hear crying. Jason.
"Carrie? Ace? What's happening?" Spencer asked trying to keep the panic out of his voice but not completely succeeding.
"Daddy!" Ace cried loudly. Hotch stepped on the accelerator and pulled into the driveway. Both he and Spencer threw themselves out of the SUV as the others did the same from the following car. Hotch, JJ and Rossi led a team around the back while Reid, Prentiss and Morgan took the front.
The sight that met them in the front room was devastation. Carrie was using her body to shield Ace while he sniffled behind her and two men levelled a gun at her head.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Morgan said pointing his gun at the taller of the two while Prentiss aimed at the smaller partner. The smaller immediately dropped his weapon and put his hands on his head.
"Oh come off it Paul. They're all the same!" The taller one snapped, obviously the more dominant personality. He still had his gun trained on Carrie.
"Agent Richards I suggest you put the gun down now!" Hotch ordered appearing in the doorway. Rossi cuffed the younger Richards and dragged him from the room, while Agent Richards turned to aim at Hotch. Reid saw the distraction Hotch had just created for him and seized the opportunity to remove his family from the situation, ushering them out of the front door and towards Mel and James.
It took mere minutes after that to cuff Agent Richards and bring him out. Hotch passed him off to an LEO before turning to his family. Spencer had his arms full with three children, all trying to gain his attention, while Carrie just rested her hand on his arm. When Hotch approached, James launched himself into his arms while Ace smiled at him and Mel waved before the pair returned to hugging their father.
Will turned up several minutes later with Jack and Henry. Jack dropped his school bag and all pretence of being cool; the sixteen year old launched himself at Carrie. She caught him and held onto him whispering in his ear and telling him how brave he was and what a good job he had done. Jack had even started crying but Carrie pretended she didn't notice, just comforted him the whole time.
That night the whole team went out to celebrate the saving of their family at their local haunt, not worrying about what tomorrow would bring.
