Chapter 8: Other Felines
"Is this really happening?"
"I wish it wasn't, but for the sake of everything. He must go."
"But he's just a little kit, barely understanding life as it is."
"A price to pay in world that didn't want him."
"All right, where?"
The other was about to answer, but stop, feeling of being watched. Cold eyes turned to where the source was coming from. To which the being moved closer and closer to the spy. Covering the odd object of light, coating everything in black, echoes of screams filled the ears, and nothing but pain spreads through the body.
A lone voice calls out, dulling everything in its wake, and how gentle it was. Soothing as silk. A dream, not a nightmare.
"Latvia? Wake up."
The small kit soon did, glancing through the very same bars as before, yet still able to see his friend.
"Russia . . . " The name came out in a slur of sleep and joy.
"Morning."
"M-morning."
"You okay? Sounded you were having a nightmare."
"Yeah . . . When can I come out?"
"Soon. The humans are still having their own problems at the moment. Best to stay out of it."
The little kit nodded, in what seem, understanding. But very unlikely.
"We're going back soon."
"Where?"
"Where that nice girl is with the soft hands."
"Really? I can't wait."
Russia just gave a groan, resting near the crate. Watching the humans rushed about the house from the living room entrance. Already knowing that Ivan's boss was long gone, but that blood chilling feeling lingered through the house.
In the minds of the felines, the ways of the human are hard to understand. But there will be times, when ever it comes, when any animal can relate to humans. It's all how the chain clanks together and holds tights. Much as DNA is.
"Latvia?"
"Da?"
"I'll be right back." Slowly getting to his feet, turning a bit to face the kit. "I'm going to see if I can get one of them to feed us."
"Okay! Be sure to ask for cold and fish!"
"We'll see."
Giving one whisk of his tail to the kit, who tried to batted it away. Russia was off. Smirking a bit from the tiny growl of playfulness that came Latvia when the tail tapped him.
Out in the hall, the humans dashed from one place to another. Chores most likely. Which the smallest human seem to quickly be doing.
"I hate that man . . . I hate that man . . . I hate . . . "
"The man or that plant you're dusting to death?"
"That's besides the point, Eduard." Raivis stated, but stop dusting for a moment to treat the plant back to health. Giving a quiet sorry to it. Then looking back to the taller being. "I just . . . h-he just makes me so mad."
"Don't be too mad, he's paying for everything."
To that, Raivis just rolled his eyes.
"Yes, as long as Ivan does what he's told. This is just . . . "
"Raivis?" A voice called out, it was Toris, but before Raivis could answer back, he was shortly cut off with. "Ivan wants to talk with you. He's in his study."
Raivis just nodded and headed up stairs, placing the duster on a side table, and rushed up stairs. As another smaller one followed close behind. Seeing as the other humans were boring the cat.
With a quick knock, enter the study, the cat able to sneak in before having his tail could get caught in-between the door.
"You wanted to see me, Ivan?"
The taller man didn't say anything at first, just kept his eyes on the paper work before him. A lone pen marking areas now and then, leaving side notes on a pad by the papers.
"Ivan?"
"My boss is prying again."
"About?"
"Us."
"Ivan . . . "
"To avoid anything out of contact to happen. It's best you stay somewhere else."
"Ivan!"
"Just until the matter of this is over. And the company project is finally done." Ivan stated, as he got up from his chair and moved to where Raivis stood.
"B-but . . . "
Ivan pulled his love into arms, patting his back comfort. Letting small tears wetted his shirt. Hushing the other, as upon hearing words of dislike to Ivan's boss.
"Rai . . . "
"I hate this."
"I understand. But please . . . "
"Fine."
"Thank you." Ending with a kiss on Raivis's forehead.
"When should I be packing?"
"To be honest, never. But be best if you're gone before the next business meeting."
"Kay."
And with that, Raivis headed for the door.
"Raivis . . . "
"Yeah, we're still on for tonight." Saying with a smile, as he looked over his should to Ivan. And soon left the study, along with Isen not far behind.
ear flickered when a clash came from Raivis, as he hit the wall by him. Shaking the paintings side to side. To that Isen gave a mew to quickly be notice. Having raivis give a jump to the sudden sound and soon faced it.
"Oh, Isen, is it feeding time already?" Raivis asked out loud, wipping away tears fast, giving a smile to the little terror before him.
Moving to pick the large cat and headed to check on the smaller kit. Then later feed them.
"Hey, Russia?"
"Da?" The other asked after lapping up some water.
"Do you think humans can ever be like us?"
Russia gave Latvia a tap from his tail. But the smaller kit just gave a tiny purr from the tap.
"Other felines? Like us?"
"Da."
Russia thought, as recalling in past events. Even ones before the kitten was suddenly taken in.
"Maybe."
"Really? Neat."
"Da. Now finish your meal before you have back in the crate."
"Why do you think I'm eating it slow?"
Russia only gave a small snort to it.
