Chapter 9
Christians POV.
After touching down we head to the hotel and put our bags away. I know this is going to be a very long weekend but the sooner it's over the sooner I get to see my beautiful Ana again and I have decided I will take a few days off to spend time with her, I spoke to T about it on the plane and he agreed.
I hope Ana is having a good time out tonight with Kate, just as long as she is behaving. The fact that I haven't heard from Sawyer since he said that they were going out gives me an unsettled feeling in the pit of my stomach. So I decide that after Taylor and I go through the agenda for the weekend to call Luke and check-up.
"Taylor, have you heard from Sawyer at all since we landed?" I ask as he tidies away the paperwork on the desk between us.
"No, Sir. Why?"
"No reason, he just hast updated me on the girls." I say nonchalantly. I pull my phone from my pocket and call Luke. No answer. I try three more times and by this point even Taylor has a confused expression.
"Try the security office, maybe they haven't gone out after all" Taylor suggests.
I press the number for the office and put it on speaker so that we can both hear it. After about five rings a tired voice answers.
"He-Hello?" the familiar feminine voice says.
"Ana? Hey baby. Were you sleeping?"
"No, just resting my eyes, how is new York?" I ignore her question as Taylor and I both look at the number I've called and it's definitely the security office" Christian? Are you there?"
"Yes, Ana. What are you doing resting your eyes in the security office?" I ask. She really has no need to be in there and she is supposed to be out with Kathrine. I can hear murmurings in the back ground and I think Gail and Kate are there, as well as Luke. What the hell is going on? "Ana! Answer my question please."
"We were playing monopoly!" Kate shouts down the line.
"No Kate shut up!" Ana tells her.
"Well you explain that you have no fucking idea then!" Kate retorts.
"Christian, I don't know what's going on," Ana says. Taylor and I share a look of confusion. "Before we even made it out of the apartment Luke⦠Luke didn't feel too well and has fallen asleep in the office so we were just comforting him and that's when you called."
She's lying and we all know it.
"You sure?"
"Yeah, I miss you" she whispers
"I miss you too" and I do, "I'll see you when I get back on Sunday okay, baby?"
"Okay, I'll see you then. Bye" Ana hung up. Taylor and I share a confused look, somethings not right but it's too late to worry about it now.
"Taylor, first thing tomorrow I want you to call Luke and find out what is going on"
"Yes, Sir. If that's everything I'll leave you for the evening." Taylor says. I can see he is tired and we both have a big day tomorrow so there is no point in us both burning the midnight oil. I give him a curt nod and he waders of the other side of the New York penthouse where his room is, I think this is the first time we have shared a room on a business trip but I thought it would be a good idea as we have a lot of work to do.
I finish the drink that is set on the desk and walk over to the piano. Ana isn't with me tonight but I hope I will sleep ok, I need it. I look around the suit and in the back of my mind it reminds me of the one from pretty woman just bigger, I think back to the night Anastasia made me watch it, she was so excited when I said yes-despite my begrudging tone-but I got a little action out of it so I wasn't complaining. The piano keys look so inviting and before I know it I'm playing Bach's transcription of an oboe concerto.
I look up at the clock. It's 3:50am. Fuck. Which means its 00:50 back home. I stand and walk into the dark cold bedroom. God I wish I was slipping into bed with my beautiful wife, I feel like I haven't seen her for months
Well you haven't Grey you've been so goddamn busy!
I lie there staring at the celling in this empty bed and at some point I drift off into a restless sleep, where I dream about powder blue eyes and chestnut hair.
