A/N: Hello, everyone! Welcome to the latest chapter of Roommates! Thank you all so much for all of the revies and favorites and follows! They mean a lot to me!
I hope you guys enjoy this chapter. As always, Thank you Dr. Archangel!
Sorry it's been so long between updates. College started back and I'm happy to say that my nerd skills are proving quite useful :D
Anyway, I'll shut up now so you guys can read the chapter xD
Levi sat by window, sipping his cup of hot tea as he waited patiently. He was here today at this small diner to talk to his cousin about apartments, since she had asked him to look out for one. He'd finally found one that he knew she could afford.
Now here he sat, waiting for her to show up so they could have lunch together. Of course, the traffic had been terrible when he was coming. It hadn't been rush hour so he could just imagine the shit that she was probably stuck in.
The bell on the front doors rang, alerting the entrance of a new person to the small diner. Mikasa walked in and turned her head in search of him. He waved his arm to catch her attention.
"It's about time you got here, Mikasa." Levi said as his younger cousin walked over to the table where he was seated.
"Sorry. My history class ran over, and traffic didn't help." She answered as she sat down in the seat across from him.
"Shit happens." He replied, dropping the matter. "How's school anyway?"
"Fine." She said after asking the waitress for a glass of coke. "I'm holding a straight A average so far."
"Impressive."
"Hopefully, I can keep getting scholarships and go all the way through school on them." She continued. The waitress came back over with Mikasa's drink and asked if they were ready to order. She took their orders and once again disappeared.
"By the way, I found a place for you." Levi started, pulling the paper out of his coat pocket. Mikasa was quiet as he unfolded it and turned it to where she could read it. "It's a two bedroom, two bath. Cheap, too. It's a hell of a lot better than that place in the ghetto you rented before."
The young woman sitting before him remained quiet. She merely stared at the piece of paper before her. After a few moments of waiting for her to speak, Levi let out a sigh to get her attention.
"What is it? I thought you asked me to help you look for a place." He told her, a little annoyed by her taciturn demeanor.
"I know I did..." Mikasa finally said, still staring at the flyer. "But I...don't need a place anymore."
Levi raised an eyebrow at her words. He had a feeling on what she was fixing to tell him. He knew that she'd decided to stay with that kid. But he wasn't going piss her off by voicing his assumptions.
"I've decided to stay with Eren." She finally told him, hands together in front of her. "He's fine with it. Well, before he said he was."
Levi gave a deep sigh as he swiped the paper off the table. He crinkled it into a ball and tossed it into the nearby trash can. His expression was unrecognizable to Mikasa, making her wonder what he thought. She impatiently waited for him speak as he sipped on his tea silently.
"What?" Levi finally asked, wondering why she was just staring at him.
"Aren't you going to say something?"
"What do you want me to say?"
"I don't know...aren't you going to lecture me? About how reckless I am?"
"Why waste my breath? You're too stubborn to listen. Besides, you seemed to have already made up your mind back when you were sick."
Mikasa wasn't exactly sure what to say in response, but she was surprised that she ended up smiling in response. Levi noticed and guessed that the kid must have finally told her.
'Well, it was about time.'
Couple Weeks Later...
"Hey, Eren!"
Eren and Mikasa turned around to see a dark haired young man with freckles called out to Eren. "What's up?"
The two were on their first date and decided to go to the pizza place that Armin and Eren had gotten the pizza fron for Eren's birthday on. They both thought it was great pizza, plus Mikasa would get to meet Eren's friend Marco for the first time.
"Marco! Long time, no see." Eren greeted his friend.
"Yeah, it has been. You were last here on your birthday." Marco agreed. "I usually see you and Armin every weekend. "
"I've just been working and stuff like that. You?"
"Just helping Dad make those pizzas you love so much." Marco glanced over at Mikasa for a few moments. "Who's the lady?"
"Oh, sorry!" Eren said. He gave a huge grin as introduced them. "Marco, this is Mikasa. Mikasa, this is Marco, one of the best pizza makers on Earth."
"Nice to meet you, Marco." Mikasa said with a smile.
"Same to you, Mikasa." He replied. "But I will say that your boyfriend exaggerates my pizza making abilities."
"No, I don't!" Eren added.
Marco laughed. "Anyway, follow me. I've got a good seat open for you two."
Marco led them to a small booth in the corner of the restaurant. Eren and Mikasa both sat down as Marco asked what they'd like to drink. After he came back with their two Cokes, he took their order for a pepperoni pizza and disappeared to give the order to the guys in the back. It didn't take long for their food to get to the table.
"So this is the place you've told me about." Mikasa said as the two of them began to eat.
"Yep. Marco and his dad run it." Eren told her. "I met Marco back in middle school."
"That's cool. So you guys have known each other a long time."
"Yeah. Armin, Marco, and I used to spend every weekend playing video games. Shit, we've played everything."
"Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun together." Mikasa commented.
"We sure did." Eren agreed with a grin.
The two of them talked and laughed as they finished eating. Eren asked for a to-go box for the rest of their pizza. But neither of them were ready to leave yet, having a good time on their first date. Of course, they'd done stuff together a lot before, but this was the first time since they'd gotten together.
When they were ready to head home, they paid their cashier, and Eren promised Marco that they'd be back, to which Marco just laughed and said he'd look forward to it. They were in the parking lot, fixing to get in the car when something unexpected happened.
"Mikasa!" A voice suddenly called.
The couple turned to see a familiar man make his way toward where they were sitting. Jean's steps were staggered, as if he could barely keep himself up. And when he spoke, every word that came out was horribly slurred. It wasn't until he came closer and the reek of alcohol filled their area that Eren and Mikasa realized he was drunk.
Mikasa turned her head away, annoyance setting in. She turned her head away and looked back at Eren instead. As she tried to rekindle their conversation, Jean obnoxiously interrupted.
"Hey there, Mikasa..." Jean slurred out. "You wanna dance, sugar?"
Mikasa didn't even give a spare glance. "No."
"Awww, come on. It's been ages since we've danced."
Eren impatiently addressed Jean. "Listen, dude. She said she didn't want to. Get the picture."
Jean looked over to Eren, just now realizing he was there. "Stay out of this. It's none of your business."
Eren wasn't intimidated by the obnoxious drunk. He stood up in confrontation. "She's my girlfriend. So long as you're harrassing her, it is my business."
"MIKASA IS MINE!" Jean suddenly exploded as he lunged toward Eren.
Eren was prepared to strike back with a Krav Maga technique, but he was caught off guard when Jean was suddenly sent sprawling backward. He hadn't even touched him yet and couldn't process what had happened. That is, until he saw the backside of familiar black hair.
"Mikasa?" He asked in shock.
"You little bitch." Jean cursed at her.
"You drunken ass." She repeated just as hostile at him.
Eren's eyes grew wide at the scene before him. He'd never seen her so...dangerous. Right now, she looked as if she would murder Jean on the spot.
The drunken man stood up, rubbing his jaw. "Guess all that knocking you around hasn't taught you anything."
Eren was prepared to go charging at Jean and beat the shit out of him. But Mikasa put her hand on his arm, looking up at him with a determined look in her eyes.
"Let me..." she insisted. "I need to do this."
Eren reluctantly nodded and took a couple of steps back from her. As much as he was worried, he respected her enough to let her do her own thing. However, he'd kill that son of a bitch if he even laid a finger on Mikasa.
Mikasa just stared at her ex venemously. "Give me your best shot, Jean. Then we'll see who gets knocked around this time."
The drunken man merely laughed at her threat. "Don't say I didn't warn you, sweetheart."
Jean charged toward her, preparing to swing at her. However, when he was within just a foot of her, suddenly she had moved out of the way, kicking his feet out from underneath him. He fell face first into the pavement. The girl waited calmly as she watched him get up. As soon as he was up, he sped towards her again, even more off balance from his time, Mikasa stood still, slighty raising one of her legs. As soon as he came close enough, she snapped her leg up, striking him in the face.
This time, he barely got up. He backed up a little, swaggering where he stopped.
"You had enough?" Mikasa asked.
The defeated drunk looked between her and Eren, who was wide eyed at what had just happened. He knew Mikasa was strong, but he was just in complete awe at the moment. So much in awe that he didn't realize when Jean had stalked off.
"Come on...lets go..." Mikasa said to Eren in a quiet voice, avoiding direct eye contact. Eren was brought back to the present, but now worried about Mikasa.
They got into the car, and Eren started it, beginning the long drive home. It was unnaturally quiet between the two of them, after all the excitement from their trip. Eren kept anxiously looking at Mikasa in concern. From the looks of it, the encounter with Jean seemed to have shaken her up some. She sat on the passenger's side, staring out the window. She didn't make eye contact with him at all, seeming to hide her face from him. He wanted to say something so badly but decided to wait until they got home. She probably had a lot on her mind.
It was dark out by the time they got home, so Eren told Mikasa to go inside while he left the lights on so she could see. Without looking at him, she quietly thanked him and quickly hurried inside. Eren wasn't too far behind her. By the time he had gotten inside, Mikasa had already went inside her room. He quietly walked to her bedroom door, giving a gentle knock on it.
"Mikasa?" He called. "Are you okay?"
She didn't answer him, causing Eren to worry more. But he wasn't going to push her. She would come out and talk when she was ready.
"Mikasa, I'll be in the living room if you want to talk."
Eren silently walked away from her door and towards his bedroom. After changing into some gym shorts, he left his room to sit on the couch. He was too worried about Mikasa to bother trying to watch TV, but he cut it on for the familiar noise of it.
"Eren?"
The young man turned his head toward her voice. He found her in the hallway, dressed in a large T-shirt and shorts. For the first time in the past hour, she looked into his eyes. However, he couldn't read what was behind her beautiful black eyes.
"Hey..." he replied quietly, turning the TV off. "You okay?"
She walked over to where he sat, taking a seat beside him. Resting her head in her hands, she took a deep breath. "I think so..."
"You can talk to me, you know." He gently told her. "You don't have to keep it bottled inside. Not anymore."
A small smile formed on her face. "I know."
She took another deep breath before speaking. "I guess you can understand the nature of our...previous relationship."
"I...can guess. Listen, Mikasa." He told her gently, leaning in close to her. "You don't have to tell me if you're not ready. I didn't mean to push you."
"It's alright, Eren." She told him. "You deserve to know. I met Jean at my high school...At the time, he seemed nice. I'd never really dated before so I agreed to go out with him. We didn't really date for very long. One night, a while after we graduated...he got drunk at one of his friend's. So I tried taking him home...but he...slapped me across the face. That's when...things started getting...complicated. I broke it off quick...but he's not relented in pursuing me a bit..."
Eren had his hands clenched into fists. He wanted to just beat Jean to a pulp for hurting Mikasa. If he ever crossed paths with that idiotic, disgusting, horse-faced bastard again...
He suddenly felt her hand on top of his. His green eyes looked deep into hers before she turned away from his gaze.
"Sorry...for ruining our date..." she told him quietly.
Mikasa was startled when Eren cupped her chin in his hand. He gently turned her head back to look at him, hating that she was hiding her face from. Releasing his hold, he stared lovingly into her eyes, slowly moving his face closer to hers. She closed her eyes as her own face inched closer to his, not stopping until her lips met his in a sweet kiss.
Not just a kiss. Their first kiss.
It lasted a few, brief moments. Then Eren leaned his forehead against hers, his hands holding her small ones tenderly.
"You didn't ruin it, Mikasa." Eren whispered to her. "It was that idiot who started harrassing you. I will admit something though..."
"What is it?"
"I did enjoy watching you kick his ass." Eren replied with a grin.
Mikasa laughed. "Glad you liked the show."
Valentine's Day
"There. All done." Mikasa said as she snipped the last lock of her boyfriend's dark brown hair. She let it fall to the floor as she checked to make sure that she didn't miss any that would make his hair look funny. When she was satisfied, she placed the scissors down on the night stand and picked up the handheld mirror.
The couple was getting ready for a Valentine's Day party. Eren was in need of a trim, so Mikasa had offered to try and do it. Though, she was a little nervous; she'd never trimmed anyone's hair before. She held up the mirror in front of Eren, nervously awaiting his response.
"It looks great, Mikasa." Eren told her as he looked at his trim. His eyes then turned to her via her reflection in the mirror. "How are you so good at everything?"
"Please, Eren." Mikasa laughed in response. "I'm far from good at everything."
"Prove it."
"I will...Hold on, there's a little hair that I missed back here." She reached over to grab the nearby scissors where she had left them. With one last snip, she cut the bit of hair that had been a little longer than the rest. She set the scissors back down before combing through his hair with her fingers, smiling.
He was the best thing that had ever happened to her. As she absent-mindedly petted his dark hair, she thought it would be nice to kiss the top of his head. Mikasa leaned down and gently kissed the top of his head.
As soon as her lips kissed him, Eren turned around to face her, wrapping his arms around her as he planted a kiss on the pulse point on her neck. Her arms hugged him close to her before she lowered her lips to his.
"I love you, Eren." She whispered sweetly to him.
"I love you too, Mikasa." Eren whispered back lovingly.
Their lips gently met in a chaste kiss. At first, it was like they had always kissed. But then their lips began to move rougher on each others. When they were out of breath, Eren kissed her passionately from her lips down her jawline until he was back to her neck. She showered his head with kisses as he pushed her down onto the bed beneath him. When he reached her neck, he began to ardently suck her pulse point, earning a moan from her in response. He smiled against her skin, giving one more kiss before looking up at her. Her normally pale cheeks were now flushed red, and both their breathing was uneven.
He gave a tender smile at her. "Do you like that?"
She smiled back. "Yeah..."
Eren lowered himself back to kiss her lips again. He gently carressed her face as they passionately kissed one another, but the sudden intensity frightened Mikasa.
"Eren...!" She suddenly gasped after he broke away to breathe.
"Wha...what's wrong...?" Eren asked, completely surprised to hear panic, along with a hint of fear, in her voice. "I thought...that you...liked it."
"I...do..." Mikasa stammered. "It's just...I mean...we've not even dated a year yet...and...it kinda feels weird..."
Eren slowly rose up, no longer hovering over her. He sat on the edge of the bed, feeling a little ashamed of himself. He didn't realize that she was that uncomfortable.
"Eren?" She gently called.
"I..." The young man slowly began, not looking at her. "I didn't realize...I'm sorry..."
He was surprised when she pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. "You didn't do anything..."
The silence that followed wasn't awkward, surprisingly. It had a more thought-filled atmosphere as the two young adults pondered about what had almost happened between them. Finally, Eren stood up and faced her, a smile on his face.
"Come on." He said, holding out his hand. "We better finish getting ready. We don't want to be late..."
"Yeah..." Mikasa agreed as they left to go finish preparing themselves for the party.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed! It was a fun chapter to write. I'll try to be quicker between updates but my teachers are just bombing me with tests, review questions, essays, speeches...Ugh. Speech *shudders*
I hope the fight seen was okay, though it wasn't much of a fight. Of course, it WAS Mikasa fighting after all. And Jean was drunk. Sorry, guys. I just don't like him that much. He's always come across to me as a jerk.
Well, goodbye everyone! Until next time! Hopefully, I can try to get a Valentine's day chapter for you guys on time ^-^
