CRASH!
Green winced at the sudden crash and looked over at Red. The raven-haired drunk had dropped his bottle of vodka onto the kitchen floor and slumped onto the counter. Red was drinking too much… again.
Green sighed and walked over to the drunk. He put his arms under Red's and carefully dragged him away from the broken glass.
"Let me… the fuck… go," Red mumbled, weakly struggling to get out of Green's arms.
"I don't want you to get hurt," Green stated.
Red managed to get out of Green's grasp and punched him with a surprising amount of force. Green inhaled sharply at the contact and lost his balance, falling to the floor.
"Fuck off," Red spat angrily, drunkenly stumbling up the stairs.
Green's eyes welled up with tears as he slowly stood up. He lifted his hand and gently touched the spot where Red hit him. It hurt a lot; not only on the outside, but on the inside. Green let his tears fall freely down his face as he let out a small cry. He was tired of being abused by Red. He was tired of all the pain. He was tired of Red drinking so damn much. Green just wanted his childhood rival back; the sweet, young, quiet boy who would never even think about touching a bottle of alcohol.
He laid back down on the floor and continued to cry silently, not wanting to provoke the drunk by accident again.
Suddenly, Green shot up with tears in his eyes. He looked over to his left and saw Red was asleep next to him. Green sighed in relief, finally realizing that it was just a nightmare and Red wasn't drinking again.
Green noticed that the room was still dark. He looked over to the clock. It read "3:27AM."
He still had a few more hours to sleep before he had to go to work. Green groaned quietly in frustration and let his head hit the pillow. He had to be in his office at nine in the morning. He really didn't want to go to work. It's not that he didn't like his job, but he wanted to stay here with Red and just hold him for the entire day.
Green shifted his body to face Red. The sleeping black-haired man was snoring lightly. He smiled and carefully pushed back a piece of black hair that was in Red's face.
He's mine. He's finally mine.
Green leaned in and gently kissed Red's forehead. It was nice to see Red sleeping so soundly. When Red passed out from drinking too much, it wasn't a pretty site, but this was much more different. Red actually looked like he was in peace. And Green couldn't want anything more than that for his beloved childhood rival.
Green leaned back in his chair at his desk. It was really slow at work today, surprisingly. Usually, he'd have a lot of trainers coming in by now. He sighed and got out of his chair, walking towards the door leading out into the gym. He walked into the gym area and looked at the front door. He let out a soft sigh. Was anyone going to come in today?
Suddenly, the front door opened, revealing a small youngster. Green smirked. Finally, things are going to get interesting.
He watched as the youngster was quickly defeated by the first trainer in Green's gym puzzle. The youngster only had a level twelve rattata. What the hell was he thinking?
"My rattata is the top percentage of rattata, but I guess he isn't feeling so hot today," the youngster sighed. "I'll be back!"
With that, the youngster grabbed his rattata and bolted out of the gym.
Green groaned. These trainers need to realize that they just can't come into his gym with one low-level pokemon and expect to win. Didn't these kids have any common sense?
The front door opened again. A bug catcher walked inside and challenged the first trainer. Only about 10 minutes later, the bug catcher was defeated; his only pokemon – a level eight metapod – fainted on the ground. The bug catcher began to cry and he rushed his metapod out of the gym.
Green sighed. This was going to be a LONG day.
It was finally ten pm, the time Green could go home. The day was filled with naïve trainers thinking they could beat Green with their only pokemon – which were usually under level twenty. Green sighed of relief, happy to go home after a tedious day. He didn't get to fight even one trainer.
As Green walked out the door of the gym, he noticed a familiar figure walking into the liquor store across the street. His eyes widened in surprise when he caught glimpse of the black hair on top of the person's head and a pikachu by their side.
Red…
Green felt heartbroken and betrayed. He trusted his lover to not drink again, yet he just saw him walk into a liquor store. Green clutched his chest and held back a sob. This hurt him too much.
Not wanting to be anywhere near the liquor store anymore, Green ran towards Route One to get back to Pallet Town, letting tears escape his eyes.
I can't believe him! I trusted him! I can't believe he hurt me like this! He promised!
Green sobbed loudly as he entered Pallet Town. He didn't want to give his sister the satisfaction of being right about Red, but he didn't want to go to Red's house either. He really didn't think this through.
Green pulled out a pokeball and summoned his pidgeot. He climbed on his pidgeot's back.
"Fly to Celadon City," he commanded with a shaky tone.
Without uttering a sound, pidgeot flew up and began flying in the direction of Celadon City.
Once they landed in the busy city, Green got off of his pidgeot and put him back in his pokeball. Green looked up at the bright lights of the city and weakly smiled. He had always wanted to move to the city, but he couldn't move there because of his job. Sometimes, Green really hated being a gym leader.
He looked around the city wondering what to do. He didn't just want to get a hotel room right away and go to bed because he didn't get to do much today. Green wanted to do something to take his mind off of Red, so going to the bar was a big no-no.
Suddenly, Green felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He quickly pulled it out and flipped it open, only to stare at the screen that read, "Text Message From: Red."
Green felt his chest get heavy and a wave of anger and sadness wash over him. Reluctantly, he opened his phone and read the message.
Hey, are you off of work yet? Do you want to come over here & watch a movie? – Red
Green scowled at the message and immediately closed his phone. He couldn't believe Red had the nerve to invite him over after buying alcohol. Was he crazy?
Green then realized that it didn't look like Red was drunk by the way he was texting. Maybe he hasn't started drinking yet. Maybe he realized that his promise was more important than his wants and he dumped the alcohol?
Green shook his head out of frustration. No, it doesn't make up for the fact that he walked into the liquor store when he's supposed to stay away from that kind of stuff.
The gym leader huffed and walked to the Celadon Game Corner. Maybe playing the slot machines would help him get his mind off of Red.
Once Green walked in, he was overwhelmed by the crowded and loud atmosphere. It was dark, but you could see almost perfectly from all the lights coming from the slot machines. People were chatting and shouting in victory and it was starting to give Green a headache. He walked up to the counter and bought fifty coins for the machine. It wouldn't hurt to stay for a couple of rounds.
Green walked up to a slot machine and placed three coins in it. He watched as the little wheels on the inside spun around quickly. He finally stopped the wheels when he thought the time was right. One big red seven landed in the center. Green's eyes widened in surprise as the second wheel had a big red seven land in the center as well. Green's face fell when he saw a lousy berry land in the center of the third wheel. He didn't win anything.
"I'm done. No more tonight," Green groaned and left the building, too irritated to try the slot machines again.
The brunet pulled out his phone and looked at the time on it.
"It's midnight already?!" he exclaimed, surprised that he spent so much time in the gaming corner. He could've sworn he had only spent about ten minutes in there. Green put his phone back into his pocket. He decided that now would probably be a good time to get a hotel room for the night.
The first thing Green saw when he walked into the hotel's lobby was a young couple sitting on a couch and cuddling. The scene automatically depressed him.
Get a room, jeez.
"Good evening, sir. Would you like to rent a room for the night?" the receptionist asked with a small smile on her lips.
Green looked at her and honestly, she didn't look bad at all. She had luscious light brown curly locks resting just above her collarbone. Her jawline was slim and feminine. Her eyes were a bright brown color.
Trying to regain his composure, Green nodded.
"Yes, I would…" Green looked down at her nametag, "Ashley."
"Alright, that will be…" Ashley's smile fell as she looked at Green. "Sir, I'm sorry, but pokemon aren't allowed in this hotel."
Green's eyes widened. "Wait, what?!"
"I'm sorry, but it's the policy here," Ashley pointed to a plaque behind her which read 'No pokemon allowed.'
"This is crazy!" Green shouted angrily. "This is the only hotel in Celadon City! Where the hell am I supposed to stay?"
Green's expression softened when he saw Ashley crying.
"I'm… I'm sorry. I didn't mean to–" Green was cut off when he saw a muscular, intimidating man walk into the room from a door next to the counter, which Green guessed was the door to the office. The man had a name tag on it, which read 'Manager: Jeremy.'
"We're going to have to ask you to leave," the manager growled.
"Y…yes, sir!" Green stuttered. All the anger in his body was replaced with fear as he practically ran out of the hotel.
Once he reached a street corner, he leaned against a building.
Where am I going to stay now?
Green let out a stressed sigh. This was ridiculous. Celadon City was huge, yet there was only one hotel and that hotel didn't allow pokemon in it!
Where to now?
Green had to find somewhere to stay the night. He couldn't go back home and have Daisy have the satisfaction of being right about Red, and he definitely couldn't go to Red's house. Suddenly, Green felt his phone vibrate again. He took out his phone to see that he got another message from Red.
Where are you? Daisy is outside with a worried look on her face. – Red
"Shit," Green mumbled. He completely forgot to tell Daisy that he was going to be out for a while. But why did Red text him instead of Daisy herself?
If Red was drinking, he wouldn't be up this late. Maybe he really didn't drink the alcohol. Maybe he poured it down the drain. I hope to Mew that I'm right…
Green summoned his pidgeot and got on his back.
"Pidgeot, fly to Pallet Town. Hurry!" Green commanded. Pidgeot obeyed his master's ordered and flew quickly.
"Ah!" Green yelped, wrapping his arms around his pidgeot's neck. He didn't want to fall off and land in the busy road. That would be a disaster.
Please be sober, Red. Please. I love you.
A/N: So, here's chapter 9. Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been extremely stressed out with trying to find a job and money issues and everything else. The bright side is that I got a new therapist, who I hope can help me more than my previous one did : ) He already seemed to help a lot just from only one visit. I have to go to him tomorrow again for my second session. I really hope it goes well .-.
Anyways, I hope you guys liked this chapter! I was going to update one of my PewDieCry stories first, but decided against it because I haven't updated this one in a while. I'm probably going to work on the PewDieCry story after a small break.
