I Want To Get Wasted On… Budget Cuts and Welcome Home Parties

'If you fell off a ladder what would you fall against?' Andy swallowed mild panic as she tacked the last party streamer in place 'against your will' Gail laughed at her own joke once more; she'd been at it since her mother had casually mentioned that Nick and Traci would be returning in a few days; the budget couldn't support the operation anymore.

With her feet firmly back on the floor Andy turned and stared Peck down; one eyebrow arched in amusement.

'You're worse than Sam when you're nervous' she noted with a grin.

Gail shook her head 'Where is Sam?'

'Finding out whether he got the rotation'

'Hey! Did you hear the story about the germ?' Andy groaned playfully as she stepped back to admire the banner she'd finally convinced Frank to let her hang up 'Never mind, I don't want it spread all over'

'OK; we really need to find you something to do; because that was pitiful' Andy laughed and shoved her friend towards parade.

'Did you get it?' Andy asked as she wriggled onto the back unit Sam had perched himself on.

He grinned 'you'll have to wait and hear it with the rest of the troops McNally' she was the most impatient person he knew and he took pleasure in making her wait; the frustration on her face made him grin.

'I'll just withhold the sex Swarek' she sniped with a daring look in her eye.

Sam choked as Oliver walked past swiftly in a bid to avoid overhearing 'Oh yeah?' he questioned 'you know blackmail is a felony right?'

'Technically it's not blackmail… it's withholding certain benefits' she grinned back

'Detective Swarek… Officer McNally… anything you'd like to share?' Best called there attention to the front of the room. Sam shook his head in response, tongue in cheek while Andy grinned widely.

'I'd just like to congratulate 'Detective' Swarek here on his promotion' she shoved him playfully almost pushing him off the unit they both shared as a seat.

With that out of the way parade continued; with the announcement of the missing two officers due to return by the end of the day Andy found her hand being squeezed by Gail; the pitiful joke that normally accompanied anything to do with Nick no doubt being swallowed until the end of briefing.

'Would you arrest me if I smacked him right now?' Gail sniped as she watched the medics' check Traci and Nick over. They were confined to the sidelines until the Guns and Gangs detective cleared them to return to the station.

Andy snorted with a grin 'I think Traci's boot beat you to the prize'

'Have I mentioned that I love Traci and her boots?' she asked in reply 'I should go do that; maybe buy her some flowers and some chocolates' Andy couldn't help but snort out a laugh which earned her a look of raised eyebrows from Sam in question. She shrugged innocently in response and pointed to the woman beside her who was still rambling away.

'Traci' Andy sighed as she opened her arms to welcome her friend back home 'I missed you'

'Yeah Nash; good to have you back… soo… tell me; did you throw your whole weight behind that kick?' Gail asked not waiting for the two friends to break apart their hug.

'I did' Nash looked apologetic 'I thought that it was one of the drug runners opening the door'

'Sweet' Gail grinned and sauntered away proudly with a spring in her step 'I'm buying you lunch' she called back over her shoulder 'you know to say thanks, for a job well done' she laughed loud as she jumped into a cruiser and left the scene.

'So did I miss much?' Traci asked as she climbed into the front seat of Andy's car and pulled her seatbelt over her.

Andy smirked 'Oh yeah! I'll take the long way back' Traci grinned; she'd definitely missed this over the last six months. 'So first things first, we have a new officer; Marlo Cruz just in from SWAT; she seems OK' Andy began 'Frank and Noelle got engaged last night and Chris may be leaving to go to Timmins' Andy summarised each point before going into detail during the drive back .

'… And you and Sam?' Traci prompted gently 'are you at least talking yet?'

Andy couldn't help the wide smile that took over her face 'we're actually living together now…' she sighed 'and Gail's been there most nights too… so sometimes it can get stressed but we agreed to sort everything out and not go to bed on an argument'

A small commotion greeted the pair as they walked through the station; a crowd of officers had gathered around a desk facing the locker rooms as Nick cautiously approached Gail. Each spectating officer groaning as Gail first punched her former boyfriend before jumping into his arms 'I was hoping for a better show than that' a voice shouted out before the crowd dispersed.

'Now that we've got the house to ourselves all I want to do is go home and sleep' Andy groaned as she perched herself on the edge of Sam's desk and waited for him to finish up for the day.

'It's been a long day; but hey at least we get to sleep in tomorrow without having to worry about Gail Peck spying on us' Sam retorted 'I'm sure she gets a kick out of our discomfort'

'You're discomfort you mean?' Andy corrected 'but yeah, and we get the sofa back'

'Just when I'd made a nice ass dent in the floor' Sam smirked pretending to groan at having the sofa back
