~I do not own Descendants~
"Ben!" Belle exclaims at the sight of her son, who is currently lying motionless on Carlos' bed. She rushes forward, with her husband right behind her, and kneels down next her only son. A tear forms in Belle's eye, and she places her hand on Ben's shoulder and starts to rub circles on it. "How could this happen?"
"We're not really sure ourselves, but Ben was clearly desperate to get Mal back, no matter what the cost." Evie answers from Jay's bed, where she has been sitting since they got to Carlos and Jay's room.
"What was going through his mind that made him think that this was only way to get her back, surely we could've come up with some other way," Belle insists.
"He never would've listened, and you know that," Jay explains from the other side of the bed. Belle looks up from Ben to face Jay, and she nods, knowing that he's right.
Sudden footsteps gain everyone's attention, and Fairy Godmother comes rushing into the room, followed closely by Lonnie. She smiles, but Lonnie knows that she has no reason to stay, so she leaves. Well, she leaves after taking a good look at Ben's condition, which is hasn't changed since she last saw him.
"Fairy Godmother, what can we do?" Beast asks, hoping that there is a way to save his son.
"You know what has to be done to save Ben, and there is, unfortunately, no other way." Fairy Godmother answers with sadness, and Belle sighs at the answer. Of course she knows that True Love's Kiss is the only way to wake him up, but she still had some hopes that there would be another way.
"Does that mean that the standard rules apply here?" Doug asks from his spot next to Evie.
"If you mean that he only has until midnight, then yes, they do," Fairy Godmother answers in a soft voice.
"Oh Ben..." Belle turns back to her son with a sigh, and she uses the hand that was previously on his shoulder, to brush back his hair. She rubs his forehead with her thumb, and then removes her hand a few seconds later. Belle straightens up from her spot and looks at Jay. "If you'd like, we can move him to his own bed."
"Oh, it's fine, that Carlos' bed, and he won't be needing it right now." Jay explains, and the memory of him and Carlos' fight enters his head.
"Why?" Belle questions.
"He, sort of, went after Mal."
"He what?!" Beast suddenly yells from behind Belle, causing her to give a slight jump in surprise. Beast quickly apologizes to his wife, and he wraps a comforting arm around her. "Sorry, I just don't think that was a wise decision. We don't need two people missing, we don't even want one! Why would he go after her?"
"To find out if Ben's plan worked, and even if it didn't, to get Mal here, to save your son," Evie explains.
"Okay, but what I don't understand is how this all happened in the first place," Belle says confused.
Jay and Doug cringe a little and look over at Evie, who has sunk into the bed.
"That's, a complicated story," Doug answers. "I really shouldn't be saying anything, unless Evie..."
"It's okay, Doug, they need to know," Evie says in a quiet voice as she sinks further into the bed.
"Evie, if you don't want me to-"
"Doug, just tell them," Evie insists.
"Okay, you might want to sit down for this; it might take a little while." Belle and Beast both take as seat and listen to what Doug has to say.
"Well, Evie explained it to me briefly, so if I leave anything out, hopefully they'll help me." Doug explains and looks to Jay and Evie, who both nod. "All right, so this whole thing started with Ben asking Mal to prom..." Doug continues to explain the whole situation to Belle and Beast, with only a few interruptions by Evie and Jay.
"Oh, Ben..." Belle gets teary-eyed once Doug has finished speaking and quickly gets up from her seat. She gives her son a light hug, while her husband places a comforting hand on her back.
"We wanted to stop him, but by the time we knew what was happening, it was too late," Jay explains.
"We're so sorry," Doug adds.
"It's-it's alright, it wasn't your fault," Belle sniffles as she stands back up.
"We-"
"She's right, it's not out faults," Evie cuts off Doug with sad eyes. "It's mine, just mine."
"Evie..." Doug looks to her, hoping she really doesn't think that.
"No, Doug, it is all my fault. If I hadn't pretended to be Mal, then she wouldn't have seen us and misunderstood everything, then we wouldn't be in this situation."
"You had no way of knowing she was there," Jay insists.
"Either way, I knew what Ben's plan was, and I could've just called you guys to warn you, and you would've been able to stop this."
"Evie, Jay explained this already," Doug says as he approaches her. "This isn't your fault, it's no one's fault. We shouldn't even be arguing on whether or not it's yours, because no one is to blame."
"Doug, no matter what you say, it won't change a thing," Evie hops up from her bed, only swaying a little from light-headedness. "I'm the one you should blame. I'm the one responsible. I'm the reason Ben's life's at stake!" Tears spill out of Evie's eyes and she sighs. "If you're on the Isle because you gave someone the sleeping curse, then I'm no better than any villain there."
Before anyone has a chance to react, Evie's run out of the room. "Evie..." Doug breathes and runs after her.
Meanwhile, a certain black and white haired boy runs toward the edge of Auradon. He frantically looks around, but he doesn't stop running no matter what. A few people give him weird looks, but he's been getting them since he arrived, so they don't even faze him.
Carlos has to dig his heels into the ground to stop himself from falling once he's reached his destination. In front of him, a magical, golden, bridge has formed, connecting Auradon to Carlos' once homeland.
Squinting, Carlos can barely make out the form of a limo, halted just over halfway across the bridge. A sense of relief washes over him, along with a glimmer of hope that they may be able to save Ben.
Carlos' stomach drops when his eyes land on the view of Isle of the Lost. Bad memories flood in, and Carlos suddenly isn't sure about his plan. He hasn't been this close to the Isle since the four of them left. His mom's cackle enters Carlos' head, and he cringes at the thought of her, and what she'd do if he came face to face with her again after he chose to be good.
The furs, another cringe, her closet, Carlos sucks in a breath at the memory. He would never dare to return, but he isn't, just getting really close, a little too close for comfort Carlos might add.
With one last deep breath, Carlos steps onto the bridge and heads toward the limo, the only hope of getting Mal back and saving Ben.
A/N: So, I found a couple completed chapters of this story, and figured it didn't hurt to post them. Although, this chapter wasn't as eventful as the last, it was still eventful nonetheless.
Thanks for reading!
