It Has Always Been You
Chapter 8: Epilogue part 2
The wedding went down without any moments of issues. The preparations were easy, the event even easier. They got married in a small ceremony surrounded by a small group of family and friends, their own coach officiating the wedding. The newlywed couple couldn't be happier.
A few days after their wedding they set off to Paris for their honeymoon. It was two weeks filled with adventuring, passion and them just being happy, no thoughts of what happened years ago in their minds. For now, they were just Haru and Makoto Tachibana, being happily married.
But of course, it wasn't going to last that long.
Not more than a week after they returned, Rin was trying to get ahold of Haru again. He had even sent a few heavily worded text messages to Makoto about how he was going to "take back what was his," and how "Haru loves Rin, not Makoto." They did their best to ignore him; blocked his number, changed their numbers, anything to get him away, but he always managed to find a way back in.
It was a warm day in the middle of spring and Haru happened to be home alone then. Makoto was working a long shift at work, so he wouldn't be home for another few hours. He was disturbed from his writing by a knock on the front door. He got up and opened the door, sighing angrily when he saw Rin leaning against the wall, a cocky smirk on his lips.
"Jesus Christ, what do you want?!" Haru asked, gripping the door handle tightly.
"You know what I want, baby. I just want back what's rightfully mine." Rin replied, stepping closer. Haru stayed put, rolling his eyes in annoyance. He had thought Rin had gotten the picture when he stopped trying to contact him, but apparently not. "Oh, and I also moved back into town. Got a job down at the swim club." Haru mentally cursed. Now he'd have to face him anytime he worked. Mako would not take that well.
"Look, Rin. I love Mako. Not. You. Cant you understand that? I haven't returned your calls, texts, your fucking emails. I'm over you. I have been, and I will never ever go back to you." Haru didn't know how to get the thought through his thick skull. He had wished Mako was home to help him with this. Rin walked over and grabbed Haru by the hips, pulling him into a kiss. Haru struggled and pulled away, shoving at his chest. "Let me go!" Haru cried. He didn't even realize what he was doing until his felt his fist collide with the side of Rin's face. Rin immediately let him go and recoiled, holding his cheek. As soon as it really registered, he wound his fist back and was about to punch back, but a hand gripped his forearm, stopping him.
"Don't you even dare, Rin." Cam the soft, deep voice of Rei. His hand held his forearm, while his other arm was inhabited by a small boy. Haru visibly relaxed in relief. He had never been so happy to see Rei and Nagisa, who stood in the background with a very uncharacteristic scowl on his face. Rin tugged his arm away from Rei's grip and stalked off angrily without another word. Haru waved Rei and Nagisa inside, closing and locking the door after them.
"Thank you, Rei." Haru said as he shut the door. He hadn't known they were coming over, but he was very happy they did. The sight of Rin with his fist raised, about to hit him just brought all the memories of his previous beatings and he was paralyzed with fear. If they hadn't shown up, Haru would have a darkening bruise on his cheek.
"It was no problem. But it was kind of nice to see you punch him. Gave me joy." Rei joked, giving Haru a small smile. Haru chuckled and took them into the living room where they chatted until Makoto got home, where they recounted the incident, Mako wrapping his tight arms around Haru, apologizing for not being there, then thanking Rei profusely for being the one to protect his husband in his absence.
It had been two years now, since Haru and Makoto got married. They had decided that they were ready for a child. After many discussions of how to do it, they decided on a surrogate and had asked Gou to carry their child, to which she happily accepted. In nine short months, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world, naming her Oka. They were so happy to have her in their lives, and she was so gorgeous, just like the cherry blossom for which she was named after.
They were perfectly content. They had the perfect family, the perfect life. Haru had never even thought this would happen to him and he couldn't be any happier about his decision to show up on Makoto's door step almost five years ago. Every moment since then had been nothing short of perfect and he couldn't ask for a better life.
For their five year anniversary, Mako decided to take Haru to London, as he had always wanted to go there. Rei and Nagisa offered to watch Oka for that week, so they were off. The sight-seeing had been breathtaking and they had the perfect view of Big Ben from their hotel suite. They were laying in the bed after passionate love making. Makoto's arms were wrapped around Haru's slim waist, Haru lazily stroking Mako's hair as his husband snored softly. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of Mako's head before softly whispering into his ear as he slept.
"It was always been you, Makoto."
