COCHISE
Chapter 9
"I put a spell on you
Because you're mine.
I can't stand the things that you do.
No, no, no, I ain't lyin'. No.
I don't care if you don't want me
'Cause I'm yours, yours, yours anyhow.
Yeah, I'm yours, yours, yours.
I love you. I love you!
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
If I can't have you,
No one will!
I love you, you, you!
I love you. I love you. I love you!
I love you, you, you!
I don't care if you don't want me.
'Cause I'm yours, yours, yours anyhow."
Marilyn Manson, I Put a Spell on You
Raven woke up with sunlight peeking through her eyelids. Everything that had just happened to her was as blurry as her vision as she strained to make them clearer. But with her fight for clarity came her realization of everything that had happened to her in the past days. Her eyes widened and her body stiffened in fear of the situation she suddenly found herself in. She felt someone right beside her, and slowly turned to face them, with fear in her heart as to what she might find. With a sharp intake of breath and a heart filled with courage, she opened her eyes to find…
… the most peaceful looking tyrant she ever saw in her life.
She saw Nightwing looking as tranquil as he could ever be, sleeping right beside her. His hair was a disarray of ebony on top of his head, while his devilish eyes were calmly closed. His relaxed expression made him look many years younger than he actually was. If Raven was honest with herself, he looked exactly like his youthful self, like the Robin that she knew. He had his arm around her torso, staking his claim over her even in his sleep. Raven had to admit, it felt good to be enveloped in his warmth, especially with the feelings that she had for the Boy Wonder. And with the way that he was laying beside her now, she couldn't help but feel that attraction grow stronger. Before she even realized what was going on, her arm had a life of its own and started reaching out toward the slumbering tyrant. She gently stroked his cheek, once, twice, just savoring the soft feel of his skin underneath her fingertips. Until of course, she suddenly realized what she was doing. Her hand instantly flew away from Nightwing's face, which got it into contact with the sheet that they were sharing. She was able to pull it down enough so she could see his muscled and very bare torso staring right at her. She was instantly scandalized, praying to all the gods that were still listening to her, that he was wearing something underneath those sheets and that he wasn't bare naked when he was sleeping right beside her, pressing against her-
She couldn't even finish that thought as she inched away from Nightwing, holding a fistful of the sheet in front of her, as some sort of shield to protect herself. Even if it was obviously useless. She looked down on herself to see if she was wearing anything, and she was a little calm that she was still wearing her leotard. At least.
Her movements forced the tyrant to wake up from his peaceful slumber with a jolt. He suddenly got up from the bed, as if he were tense and ready from battle. The sheet fell from his torso, revealing the striped blue boxers that he was wearing underneath.
"Thank God he was wearing boxers" Raven said to herself as she let out a sigh of relief.
Seeing as there was no sign of immediate danger around him, Nightwing slowly turned toward the other occupant of his bed. "Oh, you're awake." He said, genuinely surprised to see Raven, huddled up in one corner of the bed.
"W-where am I? What am I doing here?" she asked defensively, still keeping up her shield of bed sheets.
"Well, right now you're in my bed and when I went to sleep, you were still unconscious so…" Nightwing trailed off, finding the sight of her amusing. "And yes okay, technically I did kidnap you, but I didn't touch or hurt you in any way, I promise."
She opened and then closed her mouth a couple of times without a sound, not knowing how to ask him the question that has been plaguing her ever since she woke up. "Did.. we…" she finally managed to blurt out, just barely above a whisper.
He instantly laughed at her question. He laughed like it was the first time in years that he had ever done that; like this was the first thing that ever gave him a reason to laugh.
"Out of all the things…" he breathlessly blurted out. "No, my little bird, we haven't done anything yet." He finally said, after calming down. "I'm not that evil."
Raven finally let out a sigh of relief. Her worst fear had not been realized. She actually had to chuckle a bit at the situation. Here she was in the lair of the dark tyrant, and the first thing that she worried about was if they had sex. She really needed to get a grip on herself.
But she couldn't help but feel calm and relaxed with Nightwing. She couldn't deny that waking up beside him actually felt right - like she belonged there. It might have been his manipulations to her emotions, but she couldn't help what her traitorous emotions were doing to her. She could actually get used to waking up beside a dark tyrant.
"No, stop it. Stop those dangerous thoughts right now. He's the enemy and you have to get back to your own time as soon as you can, before you destroy the entire time-stream continuum." She told herself once again, trying to bring herself back to their mission. But with everything that had happened to them, did she still even know what their mission was?
All her conflicting thoughts were giving her a headache, clearly evident by how she clutched her forehead in mental pain. But before she even knew what was going on, Nightwing was already beside her, wrapping her whole body in his arms as he placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "I know this is all so confusing right now Raven, but I promise it will make much more sense soon." He whispered into her hair as he held her even closer to himself, savoring the feel of her body against his own. Raven couldn't deny how warm she felt as she was enveloped in his embrace so she just let her arms fall to her sides and leaned into him, savoring the warm feeling as well.
They stayed like that for a couple of moments, without a sound or a movement to disturb their momentary peace. That is, until Nightwing asked with a delighted smile on his lips, "Would you want to have breakfast with me?"
The Titans were dejected at the loss of their friend. What were they supposed to do now, when the one person who could stand a chance against their dark nemesis was kidnapped? Not to mention that their guide to the future was actually lying to them, and that now he was just a broken body in the Arizona desert. What were they going to do?
"Now… what?" Beast Boy asked, like he would always do in situations like this. But this time, it was evident that there was a great sense of despair in his voice.
"Yes Robin, what should we do now?" Starfire asked as well. "How are we going to get back Friend Raven?"
"And fix this mess of a future we've stumbled into?" Cyborg said, with much more conviction in his voice than the others.
"I… honestly… don't… know." Robin whispered, with his head facing the ground.
His teammates were shocked at the sight of their leader's depressed form. No matter how bad things got, even if they thought all hope was lost, it was the Boy Wonder who never lost hope. Not even the end of the world stopped him before. But here he was now, slumped on the Arizona desert, as if he was beaten, as if all had been lost.
"Hmph. This melodramatic kid is the original Robin? What kind of sorry chumps were you recruiting before I found you?" A boy's voice suddenly blurted out, surprising the entire group.
"Now Robin, be nice. He just lost the love of his life, that's why he's that sad. When you fall in love too, you'll understand." A female voice replied, though her tone was more of teasing rather than comforting.
"Yuck, falling in love. That's something I'll never do."
"Says the boy who had a crush on Raven."
They could hear footsteps approaching them, the sounds of boots crushing the hot, Arizona sand underneath their feet.
"That's not true! How did you find out about that?!"
"It was obvious with the way you always wanted to get her attention. Plus all the tight hugs. Richard was starting to get jealous that you'd steal his girl."
There was a short pause before the boy shouted out again, "You're making this all up!"
"I'm not, I swear." The female voice replied. "Would Batwoman ever lie to you?"
"Yes! Yes she would! Especially if she found it funny!"
A gruff voice released a snort, and with much authority said, "Stop that. We're already here."
The last voice finally caught Robin's attention as he turned toward the sound of the voices. The other Titans did the same, wondering what could've made their desolate leader react like that. And their eyes were wide with shock at what they saw.
They saw the Dark Knight himself walking towards them, with the small Robin that they met before, or Damian Wayne which was his true identity, and a girl who had long red hair and a red bat symbol on her chest, whom they assumed was Batwoman.
"Robin." Batman ordered, looking straight at the leader of the Teen Titans. A nudge from his left made him look down to see the smaller Robin shoot him a glare with his arms crossed. With a sigh, he then turned toward their leader again, but this time calling him by another name. "Dick" he said in a softer tone than what he was using before. "Tell us what happened here."
Hearing his real name must have had some effect in the Boy Wonder because he instantly stood up and gave his mentor a quick but comprehensive report of everything that occurred with Nightwing.
When he finally finished his report, all three heroes wore grim expressions on their faces. It seemed that they finally understood the gravity of the situation that they were all in.
"This is not good." Batwoman said as she stroked her chin. "Not good indeed."
"We have to get her back." Damian announced proudly, as his fists clenched and unclenched.
"Nightwing has gone too far this time. We have to use Plan Z." Batman ordered, as he turned back and started walking toward the Batjet.
"So it has finally come to this…" Damian mumbled ominously as he followed his father toward their jet.
"Wait, what about these guys?" Batwoman asked, being the only one who remembered the broken Titans on the ground.
Her question made Batman stop in his tracks. He thought about her question for a moment before replying, "They can go if they won't be a burden." And he continued to walk toward the jet, without even looking back.
The Titans wore puzzled expressions on their faces; they had no idea what was going on, and they were about to lose their minds if no one was going to explain everything and fast. Batwoman let out a sigh as she turned to face the confused Teen Titans around her. She momentarily wondered why she was stuck with all the hard work when she finally opened her mouth to speak, "C'mon kids. Get up from your depressed positions and let's go and save your friend."
"Wait, so you're saying that you're going to help us get Raven back?" Robin asked with a hint of hope in his voice.
The other Titans also looked toward Batwoman, wishing her words were true.
"Yes, we will. We're going to save her with or without your help, so if you want to mope around the desert all day, then be my guest. But if you want to be the heroes that you're supposed to be, then follow me and we're going to figure out a way to get Raven out of there, and stopping Nightwing from destroying everything."
"But how can we trust you?!" Beast Boy shouted out, also getting up from the desert floor. "We've been told lie after lie ever since we got here! How are we supposed to know that you're actually telling the truth and not just manipulating us again?!"
The other Titans were shocked by Beast Boy's sudden outburst. It was very unlike him to say those kinds of words, and yet here he was, making those allegations to the Batwoman herself.
"Well really, that's up to you now." The Red Knight answered with a smirk. "I know it seems a lot to ask you guys to trust us, especially since this is the first time that you'll be working with some of us, but frankly, I'm afraid you have no other choice. You can either stay here and mope around all day, or you can come with us and we can face Nightwing together. And I guess you guys already know that you need all the help that you would get when going up against the dark tyrant."
As much as the Titans didn't want to admit it, Batwoman was right. There was no way in hell that they could beat Nightwing, since he singlehandedly defeated the group without even breaking a sweat. Even if they didn't want it, they had no choice. The Batfamily was their last hope.
If they ever had any other qualms about this plan, it all died on their lips when Robin announced, "We'll work with you to get Raven back."
Batwoman's lips curled up in a smirk before she said, "Good. And bring back Cyborg's body up on the Batjet. We may have use for him yet."
Nightwing was too dumbfounded to take a bite of his breakfast, as he stared at his wife's strange behavior. In all the years that he has known Raven, he has never seen her this… hungry. She usually ate just a little food, but now, she just scarfed down five waffles in 30 minutes, and it looked like she still wanted more.
She just swallowed waffle number 5 when she demanded in her monotone and a syrup filled mouth, "More."
Nightwing quickly obliged and ordered the kitchen to cook 10 more, since he had to give his waffles to Raven to sate her hunger.
She calmly took a sip of her tea while waiting on the next batch of waffles, a stark contrast from the waffle-devourer he saw just moments ago. The dark tyrant took a nervous sip of his own black coffee as he carefully watched the sorceress in front of him.
"So… you were really hungry…" he said unsurely.
Raven just shrugged her shoulders in response. "I guess it was only now that I realized that we haven't really eaten anything ever since we got to the future. Maybe just a quick snack here and there, but the last time we've had a full meal was a couple of days ago."
"A couple of days!?" Nightwing shouted out in surprise. "Oh my poor baby! You have to eat up! Wait, let me ask the kitchen to cook you up some proteins. Some meat and eggs and-"
"No, waffles are fine." Raven calmly stated, interrupting his emotional tirade. "And don't call me baby."
From his outburst, the dark tyrant suddenly lost all of his energy, like a deflated balloon. He went back to his seat and simply chuckled to himself. "Oh, you and your weird eating habits. I can cook for you anything you would want in the world and all you ask for is waffles."
She simply shrugged and replied, "Half-demon biology." And continued sipping her tea.
Ten waffles, two cups of tea and two cups of coffee later, the birds were sitting out on a veranda, giving them a beautiful view of the city below them.
"Where are we?" Raven asked, feeling a little stupid to be only asking that question now.
"Bludhaven." Nightwing replied instantly. "This is really our home, our base of operations; the sort of capital of my new empire." He ended his proud speech with his arms stretched out, bragging on about the beautiful city that he created.
She only chuckled at his overdramatic speech, knowing that he was only doing that to entertain her. But no matter how many tricks he would try to show her, it still did not change the facts. They couldn't ignore the white elephant in the room forever. They both knew that they had to talk about that.
"Uhmm… Nightwing…" she began unsurely.
"Call me Richard." He replied with a breathtaking smile.
Raven had to admit that her heart skipped a beat with that smile. She couldn't help it - even if it did come from a dark tyrant, this was the dark tyrant that she secretly loved. (well the younger version of himself).
"Richard.." she barely whispered. "Could you tell me now what happened in this future. Can you tell me what I need to know?"
Nightwing let out a sigh, knowing that this was a tough subject to tackle, but also accepting the fact that it was unavoidable. He had no choice but to tell her the truth. She deserved that much after everything that she has gone through.
"What do you want to know?" he asked unsurely.
Raven paused for a moment to look at the beautiful city before her. She gazed at the seemingly endless horizon of skyscrapers before her, finding the courage within herself to ask the one question that has been on her mind ever since this trip to the future began.
"How did I die?"
The Titans were settled in the Batjet, unsure of what was going to happen next. They quickly devoured the food that Alfred had prepared for them, which was amazing that the butler remembered that they haven't eaten yet, when the writer of this story itself actually forgot that detail. To say that Batman and Damian were unsettled by how the teens devoured the food was an understatement, but thankfully that was done and over with. Now, they were flying across the country once again, heading back to Gotham so that they can plan out their next move. Batwoman chose to fly the other jet, so that she could pick up Red Hood and his group to join in the plan as well.
No one knew what to do with the awkward silence that they were currently sharing, so they just stared quietly at one another, with neither party wanting to make the first noise.
Finally, Robin said, "Uh Batman… Could you… could you tell us what happened with Raven? We need to know how she died so that we'll be able to assess this situation carefully, to know who we can trust and who we can't."
The Dark Knight let out a sigh, not wanting to go over this story again, but also knowing that he can't deny the truth to his ward, to his adopted son. So even if he was not comfortable to speak at given lengths of time, he told them what they desperately needed to know.
"It was toward the end of that year. Nightwing planned a conference where he invited every single member of his evil organization. At that point, we already knew what he was planning, but it was top secret information, which was why only a select few knew about it. Unfortunately, Cyborg and Beast Boy caught wind of the conference, and they assumed that he was going to use that to rule the world. So they decided to go to his headquarters and stop him."
"We were getting ready for the conference." Nightwing explained with a heavy heart, but he still continued his narration. "when all of a sudden, Cyborg and Beast Boy come barging in our room. They saw me first because you were still preparing in the bathroom. Cyborg held up a specialized gun and aimed it at me, while saying 'I know what you're planning Nightwing. And we're here to stop you.'"
"I tried to stop them. I tried to tell them that they misunderstood, that I had a different plan. But they wouldn't listen. Beast Boy went on shouting 'We couldn't stop you then, but we can stop you now!' Then Cyborg aimed the specialized blaster at me. 'You idiots don't know anything!' I shouted out as well, taking out my bo-staff and getting ready to fight. 'You have no idea what you're doing so stop this now before I'm forced to do it myself.'"
"But the unexpected happened when you came out of the shower with just a towel covering up your body. You asked, 'Richard, what's going on?' when you noticed Beast Boy and Cyborg in the room. 'What in the seven levels of hell are you two doing in here?!' you shouted out, as your eyes turned red and dark energy was pooling in your fingertips."
"I don't know what it was that Beast Boy saw. Maybe it was the fact that you were half-naked in my room which made our relationship more evident- a relationship that he desperately wanted to have with you, but could never achieve."
"Wait, so you're saying that Beast Boy actually loved me?!" Raven exclaimed, disrupting the dark tyrant's narration.
"Yes he did. But he knew he didn't stand a chance against our love - which of course brought out his frustration, anger, his rage- all these emotions came out in that moment when you were standing in our bedroom, dripping wet from the shower and with power emanating from your fingertips."
Nightwing never looked so depressed as he was in this moment - as he narrated the final moments of the woman that he loved more than life itself. "When he saw you, he became filled with such an unbridled fury that he grabbed the blaster from Cyborg's hands, aimed straight for you and pulled the trigger. The blaster shot out a powerful beam of energy that went straight for you. Even if that beam was travelling at the speed of light, you were able to raise your hands and create a shield around yourself. I thought that was enough, I thought you were going to be fine because you were able to protect yourself at the last moment. We all thought that. But then after the attack and everything seemed fine, you looked down at yourself and you saw a giant gaping hole in your stomach. You... collapsed instantly after that, and I caught you… and I… I…"
At this point, the dark tyrant could not even finish his statement. He just choked on his own sobs and started crying, unbridled tears falling from his eyes. He was supposed to be the most powerful man in the country, the ruler of this futuristic world, but here he was, crying at the memory when he lost the love of his life.
Raven felt like she was going to drown in the depression that filled Nightwing's heart. She enveloped her arms around him, as he leaned into her shoulder and continued to sob on her leotard. Even if he was a dark tyrant, she couldn't just allow him to experience all of that pain. She tried her best to soothe his weary heart as they held each other closer, as if they were the only two people that mattered in the world.
"When I came into the room, I already saw Raven cradled in Nightwing's arms, with her entire midsection missing." Batman continued with his narration, his fists clenching and unclenching at his sides. "I shouted out at Cyborg and Beast Boy, 'What is the meaning of this?! What did you two do?'
"They were too shocked to respond; all they could do was stare at how Nightwing desperately clutched Raven's dying form. Cyborg started mumbling, saying that he created that blaster especially for her shields, so that it could get past any that she would make. Beast Boy was just silent, with so much hatred in his eyes. He said, 'It doesn't matter. As long as we stop their plan for world domination, then we did the right thing here.'
"When he said those words, I grabbed him by the shirt and lifted him up a few feet from the ground, 'There is no plan for world domination going on in here.' I told him as I looked at him straight in the eye. 'They created this conference so that the whole supervillain community that he created here would all be caught at the same time. The Justice League is outside right now, waiting for the orders to apprehend all of the villains they can find in the building. They did this so that their unborn son could live in a peaceful world without crimes and villains. But look what you did! You killed both the mother and the child! You killed Raven and her baby!' I threw him on the floor after that, disgusted by what he had done.
"Cyborg could only stare out in horror at what they had done. Not only did they kill their friend and her unborn baby, but they also blew the only chance that our world had at reaching long-lasting peace. I could only watch helplessly as Nightwing held on to his dying wife, as if holding her close would save her from certain death."
When Nightwing's sobs subsided, he continued on with his story, whispering what had happened as he laid in Raven's arms. She told him that it was alright if they stopped for now, that they could continue the story for another day, but he was determined to continue the story up until the end. And so she had no choice but to listen to his broken voice as he narrated the next events.
"Even as I held you close to me, I could feel the life leaving your frail body. I didn't want to believe it; I wanted to hope against hope that you could still be saved, that your healing powers would kick in and bring you back to normal. But the damage was too great, and not even your own powers could bring you back from that kind of injury. I still tried to comfort you, to tell you that everything would be alright and you'll be fine, but you knew better. You simply smiled at me and said, 'Richard, it's okay. There's nothing more that we can do.'
'No! There's still another way. This is not going to end like this! We are going to fix this, okay Raven? Just hold on. Help is on the way.' I screamed out, desperate to keep you alive at all costs.
'Shhh… we don't have much time left.' You said, barely above a whisper. 'We have to do that Richard. It is time.'
'No Raven! There's still a chance to save you! I won't give up on you, Raven. I won't!'
'It's alright Richard, you have done everything that you could. I love you and I'm sorry that I couldn't save our baby.' You drew your face closer to mine with the little strength that you had left in your body. Tears were falling freely from my face as I pressed my lips to yours in our final kiss.
"At that very moment, I felt you pass on your soul-self to me through our bond. You gave your powers to me as your last effort to protect me even when you weren't there anymore. By the time that we drew apart from each other, you were already gone." Nightwing paused once again, not being able to bear the pain that came with reliving the memories of losing his wife.
"I took the ajna chakra on your forehead and used the power that you gave me to take revenge on the world for what they done to us." Nightwing finally said, without a tinge of sorrow in his voice, but one that was only filled with rage.
"Once Raven gave her powers to Nightwing," Batman began once again, "he stood up and cradled the body of his dead wife in his arms. He then shot a glare at Cyborg and Beast Boy, and they were instantly transported to another dimension, one that was filled with wailing screams and tormented suffering. 'What did you do to them?!' I demanded, but Nightwing did not seem to pay me any mind."
"'They killed my son, Bruce!' the dark tyrant shouted at me. 'They killed my wife and son!' (1)
"Instantly, various objects in the room were covered in dark energy and exploded simultaneously. Because of his emotional state, he had no control over Raven's powers - which meant that it would be close to impossible to stop him now."
"'I suggest you don't get involved in this fight, Bruce.' He warned me, with his back turned toward me. 'Raven wouldn't want you to get hurt in the process.' And with that he disappeared in dark energy, and left me alone in their already destroyed room."
"Instead of shutting down his organization, he encouraged them to fight. He told them about the Justice League members that were all around the site, and they were all defeated. Even Superman was no match for a rage-filled Nightwing wielding Raven's powers. But throughout the whole fight, he carried Raven's body. He carried her body across the battlefield, to show everyone who all of this was for; to show them all that this was revenge for what they had done to his wife and child. Just because of what Cyborg and Beast Boy did, we lost our one chance for peace. Instead of relinquishing power, Nightwing sought total domination of the world. And he won – all because his wife was taken away from him."
The Titans were silent after Batman's lengthy narration. After all the confusion and manipulation, they finally knew the truth about this dark future. They finally understood why the future unfolded this way. If it wasn't for Cyborg and Beast Boy's interference, then the world would have been peaceful and crime-free at this point. But because of their actions, the world is now ruled by a dark tyrant bent on total domination and control of everything. It was like the future Cyborg enlisted their help from the past to clean up the mess that he made. And now that they fully understood the truth, the reality of the future that they were in, what were they going to do about it?
"So… now what?" Beast Boy once again asked, breaking the silence that has befallen upon the group. "What are we supposed to do now?"
"Should we continue to atone for the sins that we have yet to commit?" Starfire asked, with great depth in her voice.
"Or can we go back in time and make sure that this never happens in the first place?" Cyborg added, thinking of ways on how to send the team back.
"Well for that plan Cyborg, you'll need to get Raven back first." Damian answered, speaking up for the first time in this conversation. "If you leave her here, it would damage the time stream and destroy all of reality as we know it. There wouldn't even be a future to fix, if that happened."
"Then what are we supposed to do?" Robin asked, more confused than he has ever been in his entire life. He was the most confused in the group, since he didn't know what he should feel now that he was losing the woman that he cared so deeply for to his future self, and knowing that it was his hands that caused all of this.
"That" Batman's deep voice said, cutting through his distressed thoughts, "is something that you have to decide on your own."
"Yeah, you should have known that by now, Grayson." Damian added with a cocky grin. "We're not gonna tell you what you and your team will do. That's something you've gotta decide on your own."
The little boy's words struck a chord inside Robin. It was only then that he realized the stark difference between the older Cyborg and the Batfamily. If the older Cyborg almost forced them to take on this mission, the Batfamily still gave them the freedom to decide. And in a world where their choices have already been made for them, where their futures have already been set in stone, this freedom to choose meant so much to them.
Robin looked toward his team, wanting to know what they should do, knowing everything that they knew now. Starfire gave him a soft and beautiful smile, and a slight dip of her head, giving her approval. Cyborg also gave a nod, a firm one that showed how he was willing to correct the mess that his future self made. When the Titan leader finally turned to Beast Boy, there was a conflicted expression on his face, but he still gave a reluctant nod and agreed to the plan. Robin flashed his own beaming smile at the group, silently thanking them for being so supportive and united against this threat.
He faced the current Batman and Robin duo with a determined mind as the Batjet slowly descended into the Batcave.
"We'll do it. We'll help you get Raven back." The Titan leader announced, as his team supported him in his decision.
"Good." Was all Batman said while the Batjet came to a full stop. The door slowly opened which revealed Batwoman, the future Starfire, Red Hood and Arsenal already standing there. "What took you so long?" Batwoman asked, with a smirk on her blood red lips. "We've got work to do."
The two birds just stayed in each other's arms, savoring the warmth that they shared. From the veranda, they moved back to Nightwing's bed, and just lied down beside each other. Neither one said a word as they just allowed themselves to feel each other's emotions, so raw and burning. Even if those events happened almost three years ago, the anger and resentment was still very much alive in Nightwing's heart. And since Raven's soul self was interspersed with him, she could feel those very same emotions as if they were her own.
"So now you understand why I can't lose you. Not again." Nightwing whispered into her hair after giving a light kiss on top of her head.
"Don't worry. You won't have to." Raven replied, in a voice darker than her usual tone.
He pulled away from her in shock, to see what the cause of her sudden change in tone was. He could see all the hurt, the frustration and the pain that he felt reflected in her own amethyst eyes. And he couldn't have been happier.
"They will pay for everything that they have done to us." Raven whispered, in her demonic voice. They will pay for taking my son and taking my life."
(1): Tony Almeida said this in Season 6 of 24, when he went rouge and became a bad guy. "They killed my son, Jack! They killed my son!" Hehe. Just a sort of parallelism.
(A/N: So okay okay, I know I am so sorry for the huge delay. But I have a sort of valid excuse.
1. I started a new job in Shell which is the night shift so that took some time getting used to. (Btw, if you are from US or Canada, and you're going to call Shell for whatever reason, you can actually call the HR Services and get to talk to me haha. If the person who answers your call is Melisa, then thats me! Just in case the situation calls for that. ;)
2. My laptop was broken for the longest time. The Ctrl button was stuck and I couldn't type or do anything for that matter :|
So yeah but at least I've got an update! And the next (and last chapter) is halfway done! So yes boys and girls, COCHISE is almost done : )
And I'm sorry I can't get to your reviews right now. I'm just sneaking time from work to post this so yeah! Tell me what you think and bitchslap me if you are so inclined.
That's it and have a nice day everyone!
