Chapter 8: The Return

NOTE: Thanks to everyone who reviews and thank you to The Reading Messenger for giving me the name of the vampire King Drastan Kinfer! If any of you guys that like my story want to give me a name for two new characters coming in the future (A girl and a boy vampire) just PM me what you want their name to be! Thanks for reading!

When I woke up it was dark outside. Luckily, with my vampire vision, I was able to see clearly through the darkness. I stretched out my bat wings and looked around. Lex and Annabeth were already awake and sitting in the air vent with me. When Annabeth saw me she nodded and flew out the window.

Lex and I followed her and, when we were on the roof again, we turned back into humans.

Annabeth looked at me and said, "Look. I know that you don't want your mother to be Vulgnam's slave but right now we have no way of saving her. I don't think that you should go looking for her right now. At least not until we figure out how to reverse the controlling spell."

I was about to say something back to her but I stopped because I knew that she was right. I looked at Annabeth and said, "So what do we do then?"

Annabeth looked at the ground and started pacing. "Well, we should probably just go to Camp No Blood and go to class and keep getting better at being vampires like we're supposed to. After a while we should be able to convince Rapturn that this is important enough to need a quest."

It was now Lex's turn to ask Annabeth the questions so he looked up at her and asked, "What would the quest even be? We have no idea where to look!"

Annabeth was quick to respond saying, "We know that the books belonged to Morpheus. Therefore it seems only natural that Morpheus would be the one who would know how to reverse it."

I stared at her in shock. I had had my fair share of being accused of stealing things and then having to figure out who actually took it and retrieve it. My mind flashed back to the fury who attacked me. If she found out I had the book she would come after me.

"Annabeth that's a great plan and all but you forgot that we don't know if Morpheus will be too kind to us. If he thinks that we have both spells when we only have one, then he might hurt us." I said.

Annabeth sighed and used her finger to move her blond hair out of her eyes. "We don't." She said, "the only thing that we know for sure is that Vulgnam has the second half of the spell and that Morpheus is the only one who can reverse it."

I nodded and turned into a bat saying, "I'll let Grover know what happened. For now, let's go back to Camp No Blood."

As I flew through the sky with Annabeth and Lex I telepathically told Grover everything that happened. He got really nervous and started bleating when I told him my mother was under Vulgnam's control. It took long to get to camp but, eventually, we could see Camp No Blood in the distance.

Glad to finally not be carrying the first half of the spell in his claws anymore, Lex touched ground and dropped it. We all turned into humans again and walked into Camp No Blood.

The first thing I noticed was that it was a lot louder than I expected. There were people shouting all over the place. That was when I saw them. Ten Vampire bats headed straight for the ground and turned into humans. I instantly recognized them as the people who were in the music shop. One of them was a little girl who looked 12. They were all fighting the campers.

"NO! DON"T FIGHT THEM!" I shouted as I ran towards the campers. I reached into my pocket and took out Riptide. "THEY ARE UNDER CHRIS'S CONTROL DON'T KILL THEM!"

The other campers seemed to be ignoring me as they clawed and slashed at the ten vampires. I ran forward with Lex and Annabeth at my side. I knew what I had to do. I concentrated on the river that I knew was next to the camp. I felt the water and I started to move it towards the scene. It was my only hope of making sure no one was hurt. It didn't take long for the water to hit the 10 vampires and when it did it took even less time to surround them in it. In just a minute the fight was over.

I concentrated hard on keeping the ball of water around them. As soon as the campers realized the fight was over, the all looked at me and started cheering.

"PERCY YOU DID IT!" One of them shouted.

"YOU ROCK MAN! NOW JUST LET US GET SOME STAKES SO I CAN KILL THEM!" Another said.

I Looked back at them and said, "No. You can't kill these people. They are under Chris's control because of a spell book that belongs to Morpheus."

Out of nowhere Rapturn showed up. He looked older and weaker than before but I didn't say anything. He quickly said, "What Percy says is true. These people are innocent civilians whose lives were taken from them by Chris and his loyal servant Vulgnam."

The campers all looked at each other with worried faces. They obviously knew who Vulgnam was. Rapturn opened his mouth to speak but then he was interrupted by the sound of someone's voice.

I nstantly recognized the voice and looked to my right where I could see two dark figures standing side by side. One was holding a gun. It was Sally Jackson.

"I have come to warn you. Percy has something that we want. As long as he has that we will come and attack you every night until all of you are dead. We are death." Said Sally.

Time seemed to slow down for me as my mother fired her gun. It struck a camper in the shoulder. At first I didn't expect anything to happen but then the camper fell on the ground. He was shot with a silver bullet and now, he was dead.

The whole camp started shouting. Vulugnam grabbed my mother's wrist and ran faster than any other vampire could.

At that moment I lost all concentration over my sphere of water and it collapsed setting all of the vampires free to turn into bats and fly off into the night sky.
