I noticed I haven't posted in a while... and I left off at a cliffhanger. So here you go.
Last Time on Digimon Tamer Frontier: Kenta's Destiny...
"I know one thing," Firmon looked at the mass of darkness. "Kenta never gave up on us." He sprinted at the tornado and disappeared through the smoke.
"Marcus!" Iromon shouted but he was gone. Lowemon closed his eyes.
"I sense all three within, they're alright."
"So you think, Avalanche Claw!" Icedevimon spread his wings, ice shards rained down. Iromon shielded them by drawing energy out of her shield and creating a sliver energy shield. Grunting, Iromon glanced at the swirling darkness.
"Kenta."
Deep within the swirl mass of shadows...
Marcus opened his eyes. He wasn't Firmon anymore but himself, not that he minded. Marineangemon floated next to him, looking at the dark clouds surrounding them. Marcus glanced around. The air was calm, quite the opposite of the whole fact that they were in a tornado of darkness. The darkness lived up its name. How was he supposed to find Kenta in this thick, foggy mess?
A voice called out from somewhere in the black terrain. A soft, young voice.
"Marcus!"
Marcus whirled around, it sound like a little girl. "Kristy?"
"Marcus!" His little sister's voice rung out in the air all around him.
"Eh, Kristy where are you!" Marcus cried out, panic slowly rising in his chest. Why is his little sister in this weird world?
"MARCUUUSSSS!" Marcus jerked his head. Her voice was coming from the left. Marcus started to run in the direction of her voice.
"Phoo!" Marineangemon flew after him.
Soon, a small girl materialized out of the black fog.
Marcus smiled. "Kristy." Not even trying to hide how relieved he was.
But Kristy frowned. "Why weren't you there? You said you'd be home before supper! Why did you go away?!" she shouted angrily.
Marcus sighed. "Kristy, I'm following a lead on our father." He explained.
"NO!" Kristy shook her head.
"Father abandoned us!" she stated with vicious belief.
This made Marcus recoil, Kristy never thought that before.
"He abandoned us and now you did! You abandoned me and mommy. Why did you go!" She wailed.
Marcus shifted uneasily. "Kris.."
"NO! You promised you would never leave!" She screamed.
"Kristy," Marcus pulled his goggles off his head and held them out to her. "Kristy, you're still with me, so is mom."
"You left us for another world! You left, you won't protect me! No one will! You promised!"
Kristy seemed to move away without walking. As she got farther in the distance, the more she faded from view.
Panic over took Marcus. "Kritsy!"
Marcus ran after her but the faster he ran, the quicker Kristy faded and the more she screamed.
"Why!? WHY!? WHYWHYWHYWHYWHY!" Kristy howled.
"You're dead! That's all you are! DEAD!" she cried.
"Kristy!" Marcus shouted frantically, he tripped over his own foot and fell to his knees. A tear streaked down his cheek.
"Kristy, Mom, I'm sorry…"
"PHOO!" Marineangemon nudged him hard.
"Go away." Marcus waved at it with his hand. Marineangemon bit him in the ear…. Hard.
"OW!" Marcus sat up, his eyes were burning in rage.
"WHY DID YOU DO THAT!?" he roared.
"Phoo-poo." Marineangmeon stuck its nose in the air.
"I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE SAYING!" Marcus barked.
"Phoo." Marineangemon nudged him, urging him to stand. Marcus grunted but complied. He then glared at the little digimon.
"Happy?"
Marineangemon just looked at him with its big eyes. Marcus stared back; then looked at his goggles. He sighed.
"What am I doing?" He placed the goggles back on his head. He looked back at the serious Marineangemon.
"I'm in the nightmare sig-dromeee thingy. I guess it makes sense that I see some form of…" Marcus trailed off, Marineangemon smiled and nuzzled him.
"And that mega is your partner. Pathetic, you are not worthy of such a high level digimon."
"Huh?" Marcus turned his head, recognizing the voice. "Yasyamon?" he walked in the direction of the voice.
Just like Kristy, Kenta seemed to materialize out of the clouds. He was down on his knees, the ice was gone; his scarf was on the ground. He was facing away from them.
"Kenta?"
Kenta didn't respond.
"Kenta!"
Marcus ran over to him. To try and get him to respond, Marcus grabbed Kenta's shoulder. At the touch, shadow lashed out from Kenta's body. Marcus jumped back to avoid being hit. Seeing that it couldn't hit Marcus, the shadow rested back down on Kenta's bad arm.
"Kenta?" Marcus asked cautiously.
Marcus walked around him and stopped where he was. Kenta's eyes were foggy, unclear and unfocused. The arm which Raremon had bitten was black.
Small wisps of this blackness were coming off the black arm. The blackness crawled up Kenta's entire arm and was starting to slowly spread over his entire body.
"Kenta!" Marcus grabbed Kenta's other arm.
"Kenta wake up!" He ordered shaking Kenta slightly.
Suddenly a boy with spiky brown hair appeared. A giant, bronze, machine digimon was behind him.
"Wha'd loser, you can't even beat the worst." the boy accused.
"You're afraid, you won't fight. Marineangemon fights for you... How am I even friends with you anyways?" A boy wearing yellow goggles and a red dino digimon behind appeared.
"Incompetent of doing the smallest thing, like staying put!" A tomboyish girl appeared; there was a fox like digimon behind her. Marcus looked at these people dumbfounded. Were these Kenta's friends? Why the hell were they talking crap about Kenta?
The shadow continued to creep up Kenta's arm.
"Shut up!" Marcus shouted.
"They're right." Kenta murmured.
Marcus looked at him. "Wha…?"
"You don't deserve a partner as a mega, it's just because Marineangemon liked you so much." Another brown haired spike boy with a black dragon like digimon said.
"Enough!" Marcus shouted angrily.
"Enough?" A very familiar voice asked as a ghost form of Marcus appeared amongst these people and digimon.
"He just can't take it, he's scared, but I can. And I'm not going to have dead weight." His ghost-self sneered.
Marcus ran forward. "SHUT UP ME!" He tried to punch himself but his fist just passed through his ghost-self's body. Growling in frustration, Marcus turned back to Kenta.
"Kenta don't listen to them!" Marcus ordered.
"But your part of them," Sasha remarked as she appeared. "He's unpredictable, he couldn't even trust us. Instead he trusted a digimon more than our own opinion."
"Kenta don't listen to her! She doesn't mean it! I think I get it. You've known Marineangemon before any of us. I don't understand why you didn't want us to know or how you knew about digimon but it's okay!" Marcus stated, slightly pleading.
"It's not okay, I know about the Digital world. But it's been so long… I hesitated because I'm weak, I am afraid." Kenta replied in a monotone voice.
If Kenta didn't have such a dead look to him, Marcus would have guessed that Kenta would be on the verge of tears. "I watched them save, I did nothing, Marineangemon did the fighting and it doesn't even like violence."
"Phoo…" Marineangemon nuzzled its partner.
Kenta made no movement to comfort his distressed partner.
"I don't deserve you. I don't deserve to be your Tamer."
Marcus blinked. "Tamer?"
"Phoo?" The shadow from Kenta's arm crept up his face.
"Just go." Kenta whispered, his voice was desperate, he was begging.
Creatures made of shadow appeared in a circle around them. Each had an expression of sorrow, their bodies continuously shifting as they were constantly in great turmoil. The creatures moved in.
"Kenta! Fight this!" Marcus commanded pulling Kenta to his feet.
"I… can't. I'm weak, I can't…."
(SMACK!) Marcus's fist connected with Kenta's cheek, knocking the latter to the ground again. The shadow figures closed in.
"Can't? You CAN'T?" Marcus shouted angrily,
"Well guess what Kent? When we first came to the Digital World, you told me that you would catch up. You could have left us but you didn't! OR when Shellmon attacked? You distracted it so it wouldn't attack us! That was bravery! Or when Raremon bit you! That wouldn't have happen if you didn't put Sasha's life before your own!"
The Shadow Figures grabbed Marcus by his arms, another grabbed Marineangemon. Marcus continued his rant.
"You didn't say where I went when I was in that stupid tree! And after, you wanted to know if I was alright." The shadow figures pull them away from Kenta.
"PHOO!" cried Marineangemon.
"You've gotten in trouble with the digimon we've met because you were protecting us! You care! We've looked up to you! Sasha, Rosaline, even Beemon, I've looked up to you! You've acted like a big brother to all of us."
Kenta's expression remained the same solemn, hazily expression.
"KENTAAAAAAA!" Marcus screamed at the top of his lungs to get Kenta to listen.
The figures pulled Marcus through the shadow wall. Before the same happened to it, Marineangemon let out a small pink bubble. The moment after; the shadow figures pulled it through the shadow wall, leaving Kenta alone with his fears, doubts and the pink bubble.
The bubble floated over to him, it hit his head and popped.
Kenta's eyes widened as his head was filled with laughter, happiness, warmness, friendship, he felt like a twelve year old goof ball again. Takato smiled as he and Jeri made Guilmon bread with Guilmon practically drooling over him, Leomon watching from the table. Ryo and Rika bickering with each other as a sweet scent hit Kenta's nose. Henry typing away at the computer while Terriermon, Kazu and him caused mayhem behind him. Suzie, giving one of her death squeezes but they make you feel great. Kazu placing down the ultimate card, beating him in the game but Kenta knew it was okay, because he could always try again.
Kazu….. best friends forever….
The shadow crept back into his mind, infecting it with plagues and sorrow. It made him squirm and struggle. He felt sick to the stomach, his head was light and numb as a new wave of happiness hit him.
But with this new wave of joy he felt, responsible, wiser, and older. Marcus grinning at him, he had the look of someone who had found an older brother even though they really did't have one. Rosaline twirled around them; Honeybeemon as her dancing partner. She just had to make people smile, like Suzie. Sasha, an approving smirk was on her face before changing to a war cry as she swung at Raremon for revenge. He cared for these guys, barely younger than him but they were his friends.
A light came from Kenta's belt. It pierced through the darkness. The darkness withered and retreated back to his arm. Kenta cried out in pain. The shadow tore across his arm like dried tar being pulled off his skin.
Kenta struggled to reach behind him, the darkness hated the motion. The darkness wanted the light to go away. Kenta grasped the light and pulled it to the front for him to see. It was so bright, why? Why be so bright, Kenta hazily glanced at his surroundings. Then back at the light. Something was wrong; he could feel it through this light. Could he do something? The light engulfed his vision.
Outside...
Marcus was thrown out of the dark tornado. He tucked in his chin as hit the ground to avoid banging his head. Marineangemon landed on top of him.
"Marcus!" Aquriamon flew over and helped him up.
"Are you okay?" Agunimon asked as he avoided Icedevimon's attack.
Marcus rubbed hie head. "Yea…"
"Goggles; don't do that again!" Iromon commanded as she blocked Icedevimon's claws.
"You scared her." Aquriamon whispered.
"SIS! Get back up here!" Iromon shouted. Marcus glanced around. They had defeated all the Bakemon, all that was left was Icedevimon.
"Did you find you friend?" Lowemon asked, concerned. Marcus looked down at the ground, refusing to answer, the other warriors were silent.
"Evil Wings!" Icedevimon unleashed unholy energy.
"Look out!" Bokomon shouted. The warriors turned their attention back just as the energy hit them. The warriors fell to the ground and devolved on impact.
"Guys!" Marcus, Bokomon, Neemon, Honeybeemon and Marineangemon quickly went over to them.
"Mh; that hurt." Kouji muttered.
JP reached out and gently grabbed Zoe's hand.
"You okay?"
"Mhum…"
Marcus looked at the beaten warriors. Frustration and anger filled his chest.
"Rrrrr." He faced off Icedevimon and stated, "My turn." Marcus cracked his fists.
Bokomon looked at the boy astounded. "Marcus! You can't be serious, there's no way using Firmon's power that you could beat Icedevimon!" he proclaimed.
"Who said I was going to change into some digimon?" Marcus said with dead seriousness leaving Bokomon speechless.
Kouichi raised his head. "Just like with Duskmon." He murmured under his breath.
Marcus walked towards Icedevimon, a clear, fiery, determination burning in his eyes.
"Alright, bud I'm going to show you what happens to guys like you." He broke out into a run.
"ERAA!" Marcus leapt inhumanly high into the air.
"How?" Tommy whispered. Tommy knew for sure that no one should be able to jump like that not even Takuya could or anyone with a spirit.
"This is for KRISTY!" Marcus punched Icedevimon in the chest and dropped to the ground. Icedevimon stumbled a bit. Marcus held his hand up, the orange data appeared. Icedevimon looked at Marcus with immense evil joy.
"You're the son of Spencer Damon!"
"Jeeze! Does every digimon know my dad?" Marcus demanded with an exasperated sigh. Icedevimon suddenly swiped Marcus with his claws taking the teen to the ground.
"Avalanche Claws!" He released another barrage of icicles from his wings.
"Kahuna Waves!" A pink bubble appeared around Marcus, protecting him from the attack. Once the threat was gone, the bubble disappeared. Marcus smiled and got up.
"I'm glad Kenta met you." He said to Marineangemon.
A vein popped on Icedevimon's forehead. The digimon dashed forward so quickly that no one even saw him snatch Marcus up and hold him tightly in his claws.
After regrister what had happened, the warriors were in an uproar.
"You jerk!" Takuya shouted.
"Leave him alone!" Tommy added.
"Googles!"
"Marcus!" Rosaline cried out. Icedevimon laughed.
"I'll get rid of you, take your spirits and present your mutilated body to the precious tamer. Yes, even more power will be harvested! More than you could imagine!" Icedevimon laughed more, Marcus struggled against his grip.
"Let me go!" Marcus shouted.
"Quiet!" Icedevimon squeezed him hard causing Marcus to cry out in pain.
"How could this have happened?" Zoe moaned trying to sit up.
"How did you find us!?" Sasha demanded.
Icedevimon grinned. "I used the tamer! Weren't you listening the first time? I invaded his mind, I watched were you went and sent my forces after you." Icedevimon explained in more depth.
The warriors were shocked. That brief moment where they had thought Kenta was a spy, was now just pure guilt, especially for the new warriors.
"You're that stink'n commander." Marcus grunted; Icedevimon left barely any breathing room in his death grip. Marcus wondered if this was how Kenta felt when Shellmon had squeezed him.
"Watch your tongue boy." Icedevimon ordered harshly. He held up his other claw, placing it to Marcus's throat. "You may lose it."
"DROP HIM!" Sasha commanded.
Icedevimon briefly thought this over.
"No…" He decided.
"HE'LL BE THE FIRST TO DIE!"
"MARCUS!"
A sudden light came from the tornado. Icedevimon pulled his claw away from Marcus's neck to shield his eyes.
"WHAT. IS. THIS?" he roared angrily.
The light died, the tornado slowed and became just became a column of untamed smoke. There was a sudden wind, carrying away the smoke leaving only teen with a determined look glaring at Icedevimon.
"Kenta?" Honeybeemon asked.
"HIYA!" Neemon waved from his hiding spot with Bokomon.
Marcus smiled big. "Haha! Yes! He did it!"
Icedevimon frowned as Marineangemon floated over to Kenta and nuzzled him. Kenta petted his partner's head reassuringly and loosened his scarf around his neck, allowing everyone to notice the bandages off his wounded arm. From finger tips to under his sleeve, his arm was colored black.
Kenta glared at Icedevimon.
"Put him down." He demanded.
"Those are very bold and vague words. Trying to act like Kazu? Or maybe Takato?" Icedevimon taunted. Kenta frowned.
"Leave my friends out of this! You said you wanted to absorb Marineangemon's data? How are you going to do that with one hand?" Kenta dared.
Icedevimon laughed. "You're too afraid to fight."
"Not when my friends are in danger!" Kenta reached behind him and pulled out his D-tector.
"Ha! What are you going to do with that? You have no spirit!" Icedevimon mocked.
Kenta stared at the device. "Whoops, hehe, wrong digivice." He muttered aloud.
"What's he talking about?" Tommy asked.
"I hope it's good." JP said.
Kenta's face went red. "Just my luck to ruin the mood." He gave an frustrated sigh and dropped his D-tector, shocking to the others.
Kenta looked at his partner. "You ready?"
Marineangemon bobbed its head. "PHOO!"
Kenta looked back at Icedevimon and reached behind him. He unclipped something and pulled it up front.
His D-Ark.
"What is that?" Kouichi asked.
"I….I don't know." Bokomon confessed, flipping through his book furiously to try and identify the strange device.
Icedevimon narrowed his eyes. "You'd do it now? After trying so hard to keep it hidden?"
Kenta looked at his D-Ark. "I didn't need it then, there was always another option. But here." Kenta glared back at Icedevimon.
"I've got no choice." He pulled a card out of his pocket.
"Aw man, what's he planning to do with a card? You can't take out a psycho with that!" Takuya declared.
Kenta held up his D-ark. "Digi-modify!" He sliced the card through the slot on the D-Ark.
"Max Charger, ACTIVATE!" Marineangmeon started to glow. The warriors stared in shock.
"Wah? What going on?" Tommy asked.
"I have NO CLUE!" Bokomon answered, hysterically.
"Max Charger doubles any of my mega level digimon's power." Kenta stated.
The human warriors watched him dumbly, was Kenta playing a digimon game?
Icedevimon seemed unimpressed. "Cute, very cute Tamer. But I'm not like any champion, I'm far more superior and you card effect will wear of shortly."
"That's because I'm not done." Kenta pulled out another card.
"Digi-modify!" he slashed the card.
"Hyperspeed Activate!" Marineangemon disappeared.
"What?" Icedevimon scanned the area looking for the little mega.
Kenta pulled out another card and held it up. "And now a little something Takato gave me. Digi-modify! MetalGarurumon activate!"
Marineangemon appeared behind Icedevimon and launched the ice attack, hitting Icedevimon from behind. The champion stumbled forward and lost hold of Marcus, who went falling head first the ground.
"I got you!" Kenta yelled. Marcus landed on top of him, sending them both sprawling to the ground.
Marcus sat up and laughed. "Thanks Kenta."
Icedevimon reeled back and let out a roar, he started laughing hysterically. "You think that worked? Ice is my element! You can't hurt me!"
Kenta shrugged. "Actually I was just trying to get Marcus out of your grasp." He confessed, Marcus grinned bigger.
"See you care." Marcus teased. Kenta smiled slightly and took out another card and stood up.
Icedevimon swiped at Marineangemon. "Stop moving you insect!"
Kenta took in a deep breath. "You may think Marineangemon is small... well… um...and.. it is…. but.. Digi-modify! Golith activate!"
Marineangemon grew in size.
"Wooh! Bokomon how did he do that?" Takuya asked; this modifying thing was getting him ecstatic.
"It has to do with digvice he has." Kouji muttered.
Kenta pulled out two more cards. "Digi-modify! Flarerizamon activate!" fire spontaneously appeared around Icedevimon.
"The heat!" Icedevimon seethed.
"Tundra beam!" Icedevimon shot the freeze beam from his eyes. Marineangemon used its own attack and created a bubble to protect itself, which work perfectly.
Kenta pulled out one more card. "Last one, Digi-modify! Greymon activate!"
Marnieangemon began to gather heated energy at its mouth.
"What will you do Tamer? After you defeat me?" Icedevimon ventured to demand.
Marineangemon let loose a Nova Blast. The fire blasted into Icedevimon, making him stumble back. Marineangemon flew forward and, with its size, pushed Icedevimon into the surrounding flames. Icedevimon cried out from the intensity of the heat and started to disperse into partials of data.
"Marineangemon, do it." Kenta muttered softly.
Marineangemon absorbed the data, leaving nothing else. The fire died and the clouds began to clear. Marineangemon flew over to Kenta as the effect of the cards wore off.
"I like Marineangemon regular, cute size." Rosaline giggled as everyone ran over and gather around digimon and tamer. Bokomon walked forward and handed Kenta his bag and D-tector.
"You shouldn't just drop your D-tector, this is important." He scolded lightly.
Kenta chuckled a bit. "I think right now, my D-Ark is a little bit more of valuable to me than my D-tector."
"Phoo!" Marineangemon chimed in happily.
"This is a different kind of battling, your D-tector is far more important. This isn't like the game." Kouji warned.
"That reminds me… What the hell HAPPENED!" Sasha demanded, tapping her foot.
Kenta sighed. "You know how in the show they have digimon partners?"
No one spoke.
"Marineangemon is my partner and I'm its Tamer. I met it when I was twelve and we've faced every challenge together since then."
"But how can you be a Tamer if you're now a Warrior?" Zoe asked.
Kenta frowned and didn't reply. He looked at the Rock Formations in the distance, down at his black arm which held his D-ark. He looked in his other hand, at his D-tector. He placed them both in his bag; Marineangemon flew in as well for a nap.
"Come on, we've lost time to the Formations." And with that Kenta walked away.
"I think you said something." Honeybeemon said. Sasha and Zoe punched him in separate arms.
"Owee."
"Poor guy, he can't be a Tamer and a Warrior, that's two different groups." Takuya said aloud. Marcus frowned.
Kouichi stepped up a few feet. "We better not lose him." He said softly and waved his hand for the others to follow.
Wonder what's going to happen when Kenta gets his spirit? What will happen to Marineangemon? Will the reason of being summoned to the Digital World be explained? Will the novices and veterans get along? That's for me to know. :)
