A/N: Hi guys! I know it's been forever, and I'm really sorry about that! I've just been so busy that it's ridiculous! Anyway, I hope you enjoy chapter nine! Please leave a review!
Chapter 9
Eve was nervous about going to RAW and seeing Mike tonight. She knew that her snapping at him and telling him she hated him was quite harsh, but it had left her mouth, and now she was unable to take it back.
She knew things would more than likely a little awkward tonight, but she knew that she and Mike would be able to act professionally and do their jobs as they were supposed to.
"Hey Mike," Eve said cheerfully as she could manage as she saw him on her way to the Diva's locker room.
"Hey Eve," Mike casually replied as he kicked at a spot on the ground. He didn't want to look at her right now. He couldn't understand why he and Eve seemed to be so rocky lately. He loved her, but maybe that was the problem to start with.
"Look, Mikey, about earlier I-"
Mike only shook his head in response. "Here and now isn't the time or place to talk about this Eve. You said what you said and now you're gonna have to live with it." His tone was a lot colder than what he had intended it to be, but he had to mask his pain somehow.
Eve was gonna open her mouth to reply, but just as she was going to, some guy backstage came up to the two friends, letting them know that they were to go on TV next.
Eve gave a small nod. "Thanks Ethan."
-Monday Night RAW, January 13th, 2014-
Randy and Maryse were already in the ring as the crowd listened to Randy go on and on about how he was going to win the Royal Rumble this year, and how Maryse was going to be the next Diva's champion. Not only that, but she was going to the longest regaining Diva's champion in history.
"Randy, do you think that all these people want to listen to you go on and on about stuff that isn't even true?" Mike asked as he walked down the ramp, holding onto Eve's hand tight, their fingers intertwined. "I can answer that question for you. No, they don't." Mike couldn't help but smile when the crowd cheered for him. It was nice to have them on his side.
Mike walked up the steal steps, and held the ropes open for Eve who reluctantly let go of his hand, and stepped inside the ring. The Denver native's green eyes landed on Maryse immediately. "They don't want to listen to you either, Maryse You're just like Randy. All you're good at is running your mouth. But we both know that I can kick your ass. Hell, even Randy knows it. He just won't admit it."
"You know Eve…it's not smart to run your mouth around here," Maryse said in such a sweet, fake tone that it almost made Eve feel sick to her stomach. "Because when you start a fight you can't win….well…" Maryse trailed off as she looked over to Randy. "Bad things happen, right babe?"
Randy smirked one of those evil smirks that send chills down your spine. Eve looked down at her arms to see that both of them were covered in goosebumps. Just as she was going to respond, Mike put an arm around her, and spoke. "Randy, stop trying to show off in front of Maryse," he said coldly, he was able to see that Eve was afraid, and that she was starting to remember the things Randy put her through close to a month ago.
"I'm not trying to show off, Mike. I'm being honest and real, so you and your girl better watch your backs." Randy threatened as he and Maryse walked out of the ring; and up the ramp together, their hands joined together as the arena filled with boos.
However, their attention quickly turned to the couple that was standing the ring. After last Monday, the WWE universe couldn't help but wonder what was next for the two. They did bring a lot of excitement and wonder back. Something that had seemed to be lacking the past few weeks, Mike and Eve managed to keep the fans on their toes.
As Mike listened to the crowd, he could tell what kind of attention and focus he and Eve were bringing to the table as an on screen couple.
He wasn't sure if Eve could feel it too, especially after what took place this morning. He tilted her chin up gently, and when he looked into her eyes, it was then he could see the tears behind them. He couldn't tell if this was Eve adding more drama to her character and the moment, or if she was legit scared because she knew that Randy could be dangerous when he wanted to be. He was going to go with option number two.
"Hey," he whispered softly, completely forgetting about their fight from earlier. "Shhh, Eve. It's all right. It's okay. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you." The Ohio native whispered softly into her ear as he ran his fingers through her hair. When he could feel Eve's tears hit his shoulder, he knew for sure that she was truly afraid of Randy, and she had every right to be. He had hurt her before.
"You should've seen the way he looked at me, Mikey…" the Denver native fearfully whispered back as she used his pet name for him, not caring that the two of them were still on screen.
"Nothing is going to happen to you, I promise." He whispered as he tilted her chin again before placing a soft kiss on her lips, and it was then the crowd erupted with cheers.
Eve could feel Mike smiling against her lips, and she couldn't help but to smile, too. Maybe it was because being in a storyline with him was causing her to see Mike in a different light.
The kisses they shared made Eve feel warm inside. It was the type of feeling that a girl always wanted to receive whenever she shared a kiss with the guy who was the one for her.
When Mike finally pulled away, he was cupping Eve's face in his hands. "Do you trust me?"
"Yes," was all she could breathe out before Mike's lips were on hers again, and she easily lost herself in another one of his kisses.
After the two of them pulled away, they walked up the ramp hand in hand as they listened to the overpowering "yes" chants that took over the arena.
As soon as they were backstage, Eve was going to open her mouth to say something, but instead she stood there frozen while she watched Mike be hit with a steal chair over and over. She had lost count after the fifteen shot.
When Dean Ambrose finally put the chair down, all Eve could do is look at him speechless. "Why in the hell did you do that!?" She finally screamed after a few moments passed, and she able to fully comprehend what just happened.
"Simple," Dean replied as he kicked Mike in the ribs. "He wants what I have, and I always get what I want." As he bent down to Mike's level, he whispered in his ear, "that's a promise."
With that said, Dean simply got up and walked away.
Eve was beside Mike within a heartbeat. "Mikey," she said softly as she ran his fingers through his brown hair. "Are you all right?"
The only response Mike could manage was him groaning in pain as he shook his head.
The Denver beauty frowned as she looked around, and that's when Roman Reigns caught her eye. "Hey!" She yelled. "What the hell is wrong with your psycho friend!?" She yelled at Roman. "Why did he just attack Mike for no reason at all? Mike hasn't done a goddamn thing to him! Mike has never done anything to anyone!" Eve yelled as she felt herself becoming angrier and angrier with each moment that passed. She didn't like the fact that someone had just beat the hell out of her best friend for no reason.
Roman turned around, and by the look on his face, it was clear that he was confused. "What are you talking about Eve?" He asked, and then his eyes landed on Mike. "Mike!" He exclaimed, as he squatted down so he was at the Cleveland's level. "What happened to you?"
"Like you don't know," Eve coldly replied with a glare.
"Eve, I had nothing to do with this. I promise you that," he honestly told her. "Maybe Dean flipped out because I told him I wanted nothing to do with him anymore." Roman shrugged.
Eve studied Roman for many moments, and then she decided that he was telling the truth. "Sorry for snapping at you," she said quietly as she looked down at Mike again, who's eyes were closed. "It's just tha-"
"I know," Roman said gently, cutting her off as he picked Mike up in his arms to help him back to his hotel room since he was too weak to get there on his own, and he knew Eve would never make it alone. "You love him."
Eve was going to reply, but she couldn't quite think of a response. But maybe that's because Roman was right.
"Thank you so much for helping me get him back to our room, Roman." Eve said as she watched him set Mike on the bed. "And again, I'm really sorry for snapping at you." She added, "it was uncalled for."
"Don't worry about it," Roman said with a wave of his hand. "Love can make us do some crazy things sometimes."
He then said goodbye to Eve, saying that he would see her later.
"Eve?"
Eve turned around to see Mike lying on his back, his blue eyes barely managing to stay open. "Will you stay with me?" He whispered.
"Of course," she softly replied as she sat next to him, and ran her fingers through his hair. "I didn't plan on leaving you anyways."
Mike's body seemed to relax completely as soon as she had said that. "How much pain are you in?" Eve asked after a few minutes of silence. "And don't lie to me, either. I can always tell when you're lying."
"It hurts pretty badly," Mike truthfully answered. He was really starting to feel the effect of the chair shots he had received from Dean. He wasn't sure which hurt worse, his ribs or his back.
"What can I do to help?" He could hear Eve ask. "There has to be something."
"There's nothing anyone can really do," Mike said softly with a shrug.
After a few moments of nothing but quietness, he assumed that Eve had agreed with him, but he felt his breath get caught in his throat when Eve's lips touch his skin.
So, he lied. There was something that could take the pain away. "Eve…" he breathed. "What are you doing?"
"Taking your pain away," she answered, and then her lips was on his, and Mike could feel himself getting lost in the bliss.
A/N: I know that this chapter is a little bit on the short side, and I do apologize for that. I've just been so busy with my class and school lately. But thankfully my class is coming to an end soon, which means all I'll have to worry about is work! Look for another update soon! Don't forget to review! Thanks! – Melly.
