Team B.P.A.S.

Eight students ran out of the forest trying to get to the cliff. The avian Grimm flew over them, and the pairs each hid behind a pillar. Below the cliff were ruins, partially bridging a massive chasm. A tower and set of bridges stood above the misty abyss it covered. The pillars supported ancient stadium stands which have fallen into disarray so they appeared more as Grecian temples. The Nevermore landed on the tower ahead of the group, cawing out in challenge.

Team B.P.A.S. had dispatched their surveillance drones to watch their students. They couldn't risk detection from both Grimm and student alike. They couldn't afford distractions in their mission. The Deathstalker passed under them heading straight for the future student. They watched the Grimm pass then switched to their video feeds.

"Well that's great," said Yang. The students were focused on the Grimm blocking their way. Then the Deathstalker burst out of the trees crying for blood.

Jaune was the first to notice, "Oh man run!" They ran towards the bridge.

The Nevermore screeched preparing to take off. Ren gave commands to his partner, "Nora distract it." She ran across the field towards the other side dodging feather flying past her. Nora gladly brandished her grenade launcher and fired several shots at the Grimm, one knocking its beak. The Deathstalker came up from behind Nora, but Ren and Blake incepted its claws while Weiss grabbed Nora leaping with a glyph.

"Lie Ren,

calm, with the patience of…

Asher Bent"

Ruby, Yang, Jaune and Pyrrha ran across the bridge while Pyrrha looked back. Nora and Weiss were nearby, while Blake and Ren were chased by the arachnid-like Grimm. "Go, go." Pyrrha knelt down firing her riffle back at the Grimm. Ren soon joined her firing his SMGs but soon retreated. The Deathstalker was too wide to follow them across.

That didn't stop the Nevermore. It collided with the center of the bridge dividing them. Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Jaune and Nora landed near the tower while the rest were left close to the Deathstalker. Jaune noticed Blake being knocked back while Ren and Pyrrha fired. They weren't doing much damage. "Man, we got to get over there. They need help."

Nora came up beside him, "Let's do this."

"Yeah, but-ah I can't make that jump." Nora grinned knocking Jaune back with Magnhild, transforming it from a grenade launcher to a 5'6" hammer. She jumped, facing the bridge with hammer held high. "No wait!" called Jaune, knowing what she was going to do. Nora slammed down using the bridge as a catapult, firing Jaune to the other side. "No no no no!" he yelled, this was the third time he was flew today. Nora stood on her hammer's head and brought her hand up like a sailor looking out from a rope ladder. She pulled a trigger firing a grenade from the head, propelling herself alongside Jaune.

She used this momentum to bring her hammer down on the Deathstalker's head. "Rock smash!" The monster scorpion tried to counter with its tail but Nora fired a grenade propelling her back and its head to the ground. ("I'm telling you, this girl is awesome," said Asher.)

Nora unfortunately collided with Blake, knocking her over the broken bridge. She recovered quickly throwing her gun-blade and lodging it into a cornerstone. With it attached to her ribbon, she swung like a pendulum up towards the Nevermore. She had to use Shadow, her semblance to land on its head, but she ran down its body slashing a she went, fully utilizing Gambol Shroud. They were technically two blades. One looked like a cleaver able to substitute as a sheath for its twin, the gunblade. It was a litter handgun with a collapsible katana blade. However a Nevermore's feathers are as tough as steel so she didn't do any harm. She landed next to the girls, standing on the remaining ramparts. ("She certainly resourcefull," Byron commented.)

"Blake Belledonna,

skilled. That said…

Saga Chiron"

"It's tougher than it looks."

"Then let's hit it with everything we got," Yang prepared her gauntlets. Ruby looked nervously to her sister then unfurled Crescent Rose. The girls fired at the oncoming raven like Grimm. Weiss used Dust firing magical blasts with each swing, Yang fired punching out rounds, Blake's gunblade edge had collapsed for better aim, while Ruby used her gun-scythe like a cannon. Nothing affected it, and it kept on coming, closer, and closer.

It went through the pillars below them and the girls had to run and jump up the falling stone. Ruby had used her gun-scythe to help cover distances, and Blake even ran up a standing column. Yang used a mix of martial arts and shells to go up the rocks, while Weiss danced using the rocks and her glyphs. They all landed on the bridges.

"None of this is working." said Weiss, close to Ruby. Ruby watched as Blake landed last on a bridge. She then looked and Yang firing rounds from atop a broken column. "I have a plan. Cover me." yelled Ruby jumping away, while Weiss moved across the bridge.

The Deathstalker freeing its tail made the bridge, Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora on, unstable. "We gotta move," said Jaune. The four charged towards the Deathstalker. Pyrrha and Jaue blocked the claws covering each other. The scorpion stung and missed Ren and he latched on firing at the base. Nora fired grenades but it blocked, also sending the shield wielders back. Pyrrha took this opportunity firing her weapon, in spear form, at the Deathstalker into its eye. It screamed in pain swinging it tail, which threw off Ren. Nora called out to her partner as he collide with a support from the ruins on the mainland.

Jaune looked at the loose stinger, "Pyrrha!"

"Jaune Arc,

has the potential…

Persephone Jupiter"

"Done." And she threw her circler shield like a frisbee, slicing off the stinger into the scorpion's head.

"Pyrrha Nikos,

will be the rock that…

Persephone Jupiter"

The shield rebounded off a pillar back to Pyrrha while Jaune called out his next instructions. "Nora, nail it!"

"Heads up," she said to Pyrrha. She held her shield like a springboard platform while Nora landed, crouching on her hammer. She pulled the trigger, and Nora went flying up into the air. Team B.P.A.S. thought she saw a drone because she smiled at it at the arc of her suspension. She used her hammer, going down like a meteorite, spinning head-over-head, building force. She slammed her hammer into the stinger, like a nail, into its brain and had enough force to use the bridge to catapult on her friends over the Grimm. She fired her hammer again to follow her friends as the Grimm went down into the misty abyss below. Jaune landed on his back, Nora on her but, and Pyrrha landed on her with a kneeing position. Ren came up to them, huffing, and promptly flopped onto his stomach. (Asher jabbed at his team leader, "Well he's certainly not getting training from you, Byron." He barely dodged being clipped from behind by his leader.)

"Nora Valkyrie,

surprising in many ways.

Asher Bent"

Yang kept firing rounds at the flying monster and landed a headshot. The enraged the Grimm going to swoop at her, planning to swallow her whole. Yang anticipated this and jumped, landing and holding its beak open. "I! Hope! You're! Hun-! Gry!" She fired shells, with each syllable, down its throat. Luckily she jumped out before the bird crashed into the cliff-side, onto a ruin roof. It cawed disoriented and enraged. ("Okay, that was impressive," said Saga.)

"Yang Xiao Long,

will not let anything be in her way…

Saga Chiron"

Yang and Weiss passed each other, Yang to the girls and Weiss towards to Nevermore. Before it could take off, Weiss created ice rushing up to trap its tail feathers, thus tethering the Grimm to the ground. Weiss quickly went back to the others. Blake threw Gambol Shroud towards Yang on an opposite pillar. They secured Blake's ribbon between them and Weiss was farther back and Ruby in front, on the bridge. Ruby jumped and fired towards the ribbon, standing on the blade of her scythe. Weiss caught her with a glyph beside her, making a giant slingshot.

"Of course you would come up with this idea," said Weiss.

"Think you can make the shot."

"Hmph. Can I?"

Ruby looked at her concerned, "Can you-?"

Weiss snapped before Ruby could finish, "Of course I can!"

"Weiss Schnee,

ready for the road ahead…

Byron B. Ceres"

Ruby zeroed in on target, loading another round, and Weiss released her hold on Ruby. She shot like an arrow, catching the Grimm's neck the scythes crook, and ramming it head into the wall. Weiss created a path of glyphs up the cliff-side, leaving her exhausted from the use. Ruby shot running up the path using her shots, and semblance, to build up speed; and using the cliff edge, cleaved its head like an upside-down guillotine. Both the head and Ruby landed safely near the edge, Ruby in a crouch with the scythe pole across her shoulders. Rose petals fluttered off her cape into the wind as the body fell into the mouth of the uneven canyon. Jaune and the other looked up in awe, "Wow."

Ruby went to look at her friends below. Blake jumped beside Yang who was beside Weiss. Yang broke the silence, "Well that was a thing." ("So how do you suppose they're getting up there?" said Asher. "…." The group remained quiet and turn their heads to the cliff again.)

"Ruby Rose,

as precious, like her name sake. She is ready.

Byron B. Ceres"

Ozpin put down his papers and touched his fingertips. He looked down at the reports he had received from Team B.P.A.S. each giving report on each student they had officially observed. Each had a rather interesting review on the students, and Ozpin looked forward to their developing future. He stamped his approval on the remaining papers.

Byron watched the proceedings go a long without a hitch. He and his teammates stood beside their assigned teachers along the walls, while the students all sat in chairs in the auditorium floor. He stood by Professor Port who was looking at the stage with a bit of pride. Both Persephone and Glynda stood with the same amount of indifference on their faces, while Asher and Bartholomew were slightly relaxed having a quiet conversation. He still didn't see Professor Peach and cursed mentally, wanting to see their favorite teacher.

Sixteen teams were officially made, that meant sixty-four new students, and more were sure to come. Transfer students wouldn't be coming till this later year, more specifically on the second semester, but he could worry about that later. Byron clapped and listened as team C.F.V.Y. made their speech. The team formations were coming up soon.

"Russell Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark." Four boys stood in front of Professor Ozpin. Both Dove and Sky wore basic armor, though in different colors, and black pants. Dove had Light brown hair slightly combed to the right. You couldn't see his eyes since they appeared to be in a permanent squint. His armor was tan, and held a belt buckle showing a dove on it. Sky had dark blue hair, combed back, and had blue eyes. His armor was a dark grey.

Now the other two boys stood out amongst them. First was Russell Thrush who had a light green Mohawk and blue eyes. He wore a hoodie with the sleeves torn off and dark grey pants. The only armor he wore was two braces on his arms and a single spiked spaulder held by a strap. He was also the thinnest on the team. Then there was the big guy. Cardin was the tallest of the four and heavily muscled. He had burnt-orange hair and blue eyes. His armor was silver with gold trimming, and bird could be seen on his breastplate.

Byron narrowed his eyes, he could tell he was going to have trouble with this group. "The four of you collected the black bishop pieces. From this day forward you will work together as Team C.R.D.L. Led by Cardin Winchester."

The white rooks came up to the platform. "Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The four of you collected the white rook pieces. From this day forward you will work together as team J.N.P.R." Nora laughed and hugged Ren who stumbled a little bit. Jaune and Pyrrha smiled looking at their other two teammates. "Led by Jaune Arc."

Janue snapped his head around looking at Ozpin in surprise, "Huh? Led by…?" Pyrrha smiled at Jaune.

"Congratulations young man," said the Headmaster. Pyrrha punched Jaune on the shoulder playfully, but it knocked him to the ground. Even Byron laughed a little, he still approved of her girlfriends choice.

"And finally Blake Belladona, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and Yang Xiao Long. The four of you collected the white knight pieces. From this day forward you will work together as team R.W.B.Y. Led by Ruby Rose." Weiss looked a little shocked and turned her head to her team leader, while Ruby looked just as surprised.

Truth is, despite being Weiss' teacher for a time, he had chosen Ruby to be the leader for their team. Saga and he had discussed leadership for the white knights for a bit. Saga had wanted Blake originally and they had discussed at length about each member of R.W.B.Y. But both agreed against Weiss as leader.

Yang came to hug her sister, "I'm so proud of you!"

"Looks like things are shaping up to be an interesting year."

"They certainly are," Byron mentally sighed. "Classes start tomorrow and Professor Port and I still have to go over the lesson plan. Let's just hope Pumba doesn't do too much damage this year."

The applause died down and the first years were directed to their dorm rooms. Byron followed Port to his office, getting ready for tomorrow.

The broken moon shone through a warehouse window. Rows of industrial shelving stood empty lifeless in the dark.

Roman Torchwick leaned over a desk at the end with a map of Vale in front of him. Six districts represented the city. The most northern had an "X" over an area, representing a hit dust shops in the district. The next below held most of the riverside. It had three captions: one had an arrow saying "Upper class", the others said "Commercial District", and "COPS!" This was one area he was going to have to be careful with. Below, in the fork was the residential area with one circled area. One the southern side of the river was the industrial and agricultural districts. One "X" was at the most southern point in the most southern district, while the industrial had a circle and a caption saying, "DUMB COPS." A circle was just outside the city limits. Beacon was the East-most area and had its name circled.

Roman ended his phone call and slammed it on the desk. He sighed in frustration, and lite a cigar to his mouth, trying to clear his head. A White Fang grunt pushed a trolley up to him, and Torchwick looked from the corner of his eye. He nodded and passed several cards containing Len.

"Open it." Using a crowbar, the grunt opened the trunk containing hundreds of Dust crystals in various colors and intensities.

He picked up a blue crystal and looked at it. "We're gonna need more men," stated Torchwick, and directed were to place the case.

"I have a letter as well, sir."

"Oh for- I can read my mail later."

"It's from Cobra, sir." Torchwick widened his eyes and immediately snatched the envelope. He read the letter quick and raised an eyebrow. The deal was finally made with the fellow local Crime Lord. But he was confused about the last quote.

"…Do not underestimate me Torchwick or else you, and Ms. Fall, will personally be my pet's dinner."

He had heard men shiver in fear whenever they heard this message. He didn't get it, and that made him angry. Cobra was a mystery and not one in his crew has ever been caught, or even known for that matter. He's only known by the higher ranks in criminal syndicates and those who did not heed him where quickly humiliated, brought down, and never seen again. And the worst part, he distributed his handiwork to all the head haunch-o's in the criminal world. He's yet to receive one, "No doubt sent to Cinder," he scoffed. Roman looked at the note again and noticed a wax seal. The symbol held a circled serpent, held in a fist with a crown in the center. He pocketed the note and started walking.

He stopped to see a photo fall out of his pocket. It showed a teenage Torchwick, without his hat or coat, with Team B.P.A.S. and three other people. They were all in civilian clothing having a picnic under a cherry tree. 8 other idiots stood in the background, but they all looked like the best of friends.

He brought his lighter to the photo and stared as the picture burned.

"...Things were so much easier back then."
