New Iacon Chronicles: Darkness Rising
Chapter 9: The Guide
At the Southern Air Temple, Jinora was at a small patch of grass, playing with a spirit rabbit with insect wing ears.
"Gotcha!" she said as she pounced at one of them, only for it to hop away and fly off using its ear wings. "Furry-Foot, come back!" Furry-Foot then flew back to her as she laughed and several more spirit rabbits flew around her, before Tenzin, who could not see them, approached her from behind.
"Jinora, there you are," he said. "Come on, everyone's waiting. Were you playing with someone?"
"Oh, just some...imaginary friends," Jinora answered. In response, Tenzin simply stroked his beard thoughtfully before the wing ears of a spirit rabbit popped up from behind his head. Tenzin then walked away, allowing Jinora to see Furry-Foot clinging into the back of his head before giggling and following her father.
*QUE BEAST WARS THEME*
Later that day, ina courtyard at the temple, Meelo, Ikki and Pema, holding Rohan, were sitting at a table, while Swoop and the other Dinobots were drinking energon and Kya, Chromia, Kup and Bumi were having a conversation. It was then that Tenzin and Jinora approached the group.
"Stop telling lies," Kya said to her brother.
"It's true!" Bumi responded. "I once beat an earthbender in a rock-throwing contest! I have the trophy to prove it."
"Alright, who's ready for an exciting tour of the Eastern Air Temple?" Tenzin asked his uninterested children. "We've got a lot to see today, including ancient statues, ancient gardens, and the meditation hall used by ancient airbenders."
"Yay," Ikki said in a bored tone. "Old things." Suddenly, the group began to hear footsteps and turned to see Korra, Rodimus and Jetfire walking through the archway behind Ikki and Meelo.
"Korra?" Tenzin asked, surprised to see her.
"Korra!" all of Tenzin's children said at the same time before running over to her while Rodimus smiled at the sight.
"What are you guys doing here?" Chromia asked.
"And how did you know where to find us?" Kya added.
"Tenzin's itinerary," Korra answered. "We went over it like a hundred times before we left New Iacon."
"See?" Tenzin asked. "This is why schedules are important."
"It's so good to see you all again," Rodimus said.
"It's great to see you too, but why isn't Korra training at the South Pole?" Tenzin asked.
"You mean you don't know?" Jetfire asked. "The Water Tribes are at civil war."
"What?" Tenzin asked, shocked at what Jetfire just said. "We've been out of touch with the outside world since we started our vacation."
"Tenzin's idea," Bumi said. "What happened?"
"So much," Korra answered. "I don't know where to start."
"Just tell us everything," Tenzin responded.
"Everything?" Korra asked. "Okay. I opened a spirit portal at the South Pole, but then Unalaq turned out to be bad guy and wanted to take control of the South and he's also working with the spirits of Starscream and Azula and a hoard of Predacons. So I sort of started a civil war, but when I went to find some help, I was attacked by my cousins and their Predacons and then by a giant, dark spirit, and then I forgot who I was, and then I met the first Avatar, and then I realized I shouldn't have opened the portal in the first place, and now I need to close it again!" After quickly answering them, everyone just looked at her, stunned as the information sunk in.
"I knew this would happen," Tenzin replied.
Afterward, Korra and Tenzin sat on a bench together to discuss the situation at hand.
"So Avatar Wan and three of The Thirteen imprisoned this dark spirit Vaatu in the Spirit World?" Tenzin asked.
"Yes, and now I think my uncle is trying to free him," Korra answered, her head down in shame.
"I knew Unalaq was hungry for power, but I never realized how far he would go to get it," Tenzin responded.
"This is all my fault..." Korra said.
"No, don't blame yourself," Tenzin reassured. "This is Unalaq's doing. Now, we must focus on setting things right before he can do any more damage."
"Thank you," Korra replied.
"So you need to close the Southern portal, but if Unalaq's army controls the South, how are we going to get to it?" Tenzin asked.
"I thought about that," Korra answered. "My best chance to close the portal is from the inside. I have to enter the Spirit World."
"A journey to the Spirit World," Tenzin said. "All my years of spiritual training have prepared me for this moment." With that, he stood up and looked down at Korra.
"I will help you," he continued. "Today, we enter the Spirit World."
Back at the South Pole, which was now fortified by the Northern Water Tribe, Eska, Desna, Lugnut and the Predacons met up at the Southern Portal, where Unalaq, Starscream and Azula were waiting.
"You wished to see us royalty?" Inferno asked.
"Yes," Starscream answered. "We need to straighten out the mess Eska and Desna created when they failed to capture the Avatar."
"I told you, it wasn't our fault," Desna dejectedly protested.
"And you only made things worse by letting X escape," Tarantulas added.
"Look, this bickering will get us nowhere," Azula stated. "Harmonic Convergence is almost upon us. This is our opportunity to change the world."
"We'll make it up to you," Eska said.
"Good, because we'll need your help to open the Northern Portal," Unalaq added.
"Hang on, I thought the Avatar was the only one who could open these portals," Scorponok stated.
"I believe there is another way," Unalaq responded before he, Starscream and Azula entered the portal, Eska, Desna and the Predacons following.
"This way," Starscream said before they neared the other side, where the closed Northern Portal was.
"There it is," Unalaq said. "The Northern Portal."
Back at the studio, shooting for Nuktuk continued as Bolin was being hanged by giant bird talon props and screamed as the cameras rolled.
"Cut!" the assistant director said. "Okay, that's lunch everyone."
However, they apparently forgot to get Bolin down as he continued to be hung by his legs.
"Hello?" he said. "Anyone!? Nuktuk's still up here, all alone!" It was then that Blaster came in, still in his Broadcast paint scheme.
"Don't tell me they left you again Bolin!" he said. "Okay, hang on man, I'll get you down." As he climbed up to the talons, Asami and Knock Out entered the studio.
"Asami!" Bolin said. "Hey, what are you guys doing here?"
"Varrick invited us to watch you loose your dignity," Knock Out joked, which earned him an elbow from Asami.
"Are you filming right now?" Asami asked.
"No, idiots forgot to get Bolin down from here," Blaster answered, when Mako and Arcee entered the studio.
"There you guys are," Arcee said.
"Is Bolin around?" Mako asked.
"Up here," Bolin answered as Blaster struggled to get him free.
"Good," Mako responded. "I've got something to tell all of you." Suddenly, Blaster finally got Bolin free and the two of them fell to the floor.
"Ow..." both Blaster and Bolin said at the same time.
"We found out who's been stealing from Future Industries," Arcee continued. "Varrick."
"What?" Bolin asked. "No."
"He attacked his own ship?" Knock Out asked.
"Yes," Arcee answered. "He wants New Iacon to go to war, and he wants control of the businesses that stand to profit most from it."
"He already had all the shipping," Mako continued. "All he needed was Future Industries."
"Varrick helped SAVE Future Industries," Asami responded. "He's our business partner now, not an evil mastermind."
"You have to listen to us," Arcee responded. "Varrick is up to no good, and we have proof."
"The detonators he uses in his movers are exactly like the one I found at the Cultural Center attack," Mako continued. "And those explosions were exactly like the ones the captain reported when Asami's shipment was hijacked. Don't you see?"
"What makes you think that Lockdown didn't steal those detonators?" Knock Out asked.
"Yeah, let it go Mako," Bolin cooly said. "Let it go."
"Uh, no!" Mako responded. "I'm not going to let it go!" With that, him and Arcee stormed off, only to run into two security guard with their arms crossed.
"Varrick's been looking for you two," one of them said.
"Good, cause we were just about to see him," Arcee shot back, glaring at the guards.
Meanwhile, after traveling to the Eastern Air Temple, Korra, Tenzin and Rodimus were standing on top of a hill with a flat top and a spiraling staircase around it.
"You're lucky," Tenzin said to Korra. "This temple is the most spiritual of all the air temples. Why, this very garden is where my father met Guru Pathik."
"Wow!" Korra responded. "Spirit World, here we come."
Later, in a clearing in the forest, she and Tenzin were in a meditative state while Meelo was ringing a bell and Ikki was bending air through a horn. The others, including the Autobots and the Dinobots were also meditating.
"Are you in the Spirit World?" Korra whispered to Tenzin.
"I would be if Meelo could ring his bell at the appropriate intervals," Tenzin answered.
"Aww, did I do it wrong?" Meelo asked.
"Let's try something else," Tenzin said before walking off.
"Good, all of this meditating is a bunch of beryllium baloney if you ask me," Slug said as he and the others got up before Swoop sudenly slapped his hand on the back of Slug's head.
"Yeah?" he asked. "Well you're full of cesium salami!"
"Beryllium baloney!" Slug retaliated.
"Cesium salami!" Swoop responded before Slug tackled him to the ground and the two of them engaged in a fist fight, all while everyone just looked on before Korra turned to Meelo.
"I thought your bell ringing was just fine," Korra said to Meelo.
"Thanks!" Meelo responded, grinning widely before banging on the bell.
After moving to a cliff with the face of an airbender carved onto the wall, Tenzin and Korra resumed meditating while incense burned around them. Then the smoke made it to Tenzin, causing him to cough.
"Kya, this is too much smoke," he said. "You set it up wrong! This isn't going to work."
"I'm sorry, I did what you told me," Kya responded while Tenzin got up and walked away again.
"Well, the moment's ruined," he said. Then Jinora looked over at Korra as rabit spirits flew around her, Korra obviously not being able to see them.
"We could have tried a little longer," Korra said to Tenzin as she got up and followed him, the others following suite, but then Furry-Foot and the other rabbits began to fly down a downhill path, instructig Jinora to follow them.
"Come back Furry-Foot!" she said while Kya walked up from behind her.
"Hey, Jinora, what are you chasing?" she asked.
"Nothing," Jinora nervously answered before running after her father, all while Kya watched and squinted her eyes thoughtfully.
Later, Korra and Tenzin meditated in front of a statue of Avatar Yangchen, but once again, they were having trouble.
"Focus Korra, focus," Tenzin instructed.
"I am focusing," Korra replied.
"No talking," Tenzin responded. "Feel the energy of the universe."
"Okay, I feel it," Korra replied.
"Korra, really!" Tenzin scolded. "I'm trying to concentrate here! I don't thing this location is going to work either."
"What's going on with you?" Korra asked. "First, you're blaming Meelo, then Kya, and now me."
"Well, nothing is feeling right to me," Tenzin answered.
"I don't want to rush your feelings, but we're kin of in a hurry," Korra reminded him. "How did you first get into the Spirit World? Let's try that."
"Well...actually, I've never been into the Spirit World," Tenzin suddenly admitted, which of course caused Korra's moth to drop down in shock while the rest of his family, along with the Autobots and the Dinobots poked their heads out from behind an archway.
"You've never been into the Spirit world?" Korra asked.
"But you use to spend days in the temple meditating," Pema argued.
"TRYING to get in," Tenzin replied. "It never happened. It's my greatest shortcoming as an airbender, spiritual leader, and son of Aang." Suddenly, Bumi started to laugh at his statement.
"Welcome to the "I Disappoint Dad" club," he remarked, to which Kup glared in repsonse.
"Well if you can't get into the Spirit World, how are you suppose to get Korra in to stop this slag-head spirit Vaatu?" Sludge asked.
"I've spent years studying the techniques and theories of ancient spiritual leaders," Tenzin answered. "Now that the Avatar needs me, it must be my time."
"Tenzin, Harmonic Convergance is almost here," Korra argued. "If Vaatu escapes from the Spirit World-"
"You have to trust me," Tenzin interrupted. "I can help you." However, Korra looked away at his statement, unsure.
"There might be another way," Kya said, getting everyone's attention. "Jinora, is there something you want to tell Korra?"
"Oh this should be good," Snarl remarked, earning him a slap in the back of his head from both Rodimus and Swoop.
"Jinora?" Tenzin asked, equally in disbelief. "She is too young and untrained to have any knowledge about spiritual matters."
"Actually, I think I do know where Korra needs to go to get into the Spirit World," Jinora replied.
"How do you know that?" Rodimus asked.
"My spirit friends showed me," Jinora answered. "It's okay, you can show yourselves." With that, the rabbit spirits appeared in balls of light in the air. Upon seeing this, everyone gasped and wondered in awe.
"By the Allspark," Rodimus said, astonished.
"How did you do that?" Tenzin asked.
"Jinora..." Pema said.
"Bunnies!" Meelo sudenly said.
"Actually, they're dragonfly-bunny spirits," Jinora corrected.
"I knew it," Kya said. "Looks like she does know something about spiritual matters." The spirits then flew out of the temple, followed by Ikki and Meelo laughing happily.
"So cute," Ikki said.
"Bunnies!" Meelo said again.
"Come back!" Ikki called.
"How long have you been able to do this?" Tenzin asked as he and Jinora exited the temple.
"I don't know," Jinora answered. "I guess I've always kind of had a connection with spirits." Then a blue dragonfly-bunny spirit flew past them and to Bumi, who laughed as it nuzzled his face and sat on his shoulder.
"I think this one likes me," he said.
"Are they here to help?" Korra asked.
"Well they're not trying to slag us so they're obviously friendly," Chromia said before the spirits flew down a path.
"I think they want you to go down there," Jinora answered, pointing to the path.
"I don't know," Tenzin replied, unsure. "The spiritual energy is historically strongest near the temple."
"No offence Tenzin, but since they're spirits, I'm sure they've actually BEEN to the Spirit World," Slug answered.
"If we need to go to the Tenzin World, we'll call you," Bumi remarked.
Back at the Spirit World, Starscream, Azula, Unalaq, Eska, Desna and the Predacons neared the closed Northern Portal.
"Guys, haven't these spirits had ten thousand years to open this portal?" Blackarachnia asked.
"If they could not succeed, what makes you think we will?" Lugnut asked.
"By entering the Spirit World, we bring us something the spirits never had," Unalaq answered. "You, and our bending." Suddenly, Unalaq bended a stream of water at the portal and pushed it against the barrier, but only caused it to ripple.
"Join me!" Unalaq commanded. "Together we can open this portal!" With that, Eska and Desna waterbended in unison with their uncle, Starscream fired his null-rays, Azula shot bolts of lightning, Lugnut plunged his fists down and opened a missile launcher in his back which began firing, Waspinator, Terrorsaur and Inferno used their blasters, Scorponok used his claw missile launchers, Blackarachnia and Tarantulas fired their blaster legs, Quickstrike used the blaster that was built inside his cobra head and Darksteel and Skylinx transformed and used their fire breath, all against the portal. However, soon it began to glow.
"Waspinator not like the look of that!" Waspinator said before suddenly, the spirit of Predaking shot out from it and grabbed Waspinator before tossing him to the ground, the resulting shock wave sending Desna against a rock.
"Desna!" Eska shouted while the Predacons and Lugnut surrounded Predaking.
"Leave them," Unalaq commanded. "Keep firing!"
"You do not command the Decepticons puny human!" Lugnut shouted before turning his attention back to Predaking.
"So, the rumors were true," he said. "The Predacons still live, yet they have devolved themselves to working with humans and a coward!"
"Tough talk for someone who failed to do as he was commanded and left me to die!" Azula shot back as she kept firing at the portal. Enraged, Predaking got out his sword and preparred to slice her in half, only for Inferno to fire at his back.
"You dare to speek ill will of our queens!?" he shouted, only for Predaking to grow even angrier.
"They are not your queens...FOR I AM YOUR KING!" he roared before turning into his dragon mode and breathing a torrent of fire from his mouth. Everyone quickly got out of the way, all except for Waspinator.
"Oh scrap..." was all he could say before being sent flying in the air, screaming. Lugnut, in response, then retracted his fist back, replacing it with a red button before yelling out and jumping towards Predaking. However, Predaking then transformed and grabbed his arm, forcing the button to come in contact with Lugnut's face, resulting in a massive explosion that sent him through a massive rock structure. Darksteel and Skylinx then swooped down towards him, only for Predaking to get out his sword and swing it, causing a massive wave of fire to send them both to the ground and impact with Quickstrike and Terrorsaur. Inferno and Scorponok tried to ambush him, but Predaking grabbed both of them and collided their heads with one another before tossing them to Blackarachnia and Tarantulaus before they could fire at him. Inferno tried to get up, only for Predaking to slam his knee at his head.
"We...yeild..." he weakly said, only for a null-ray to hit him in the back.
"But you will still do as we command!" he shouted, only for Predaking to grab him by his neck and bring the seeker's spirit to his face.
"I will never be anyone's slave..." he growled before turning to Azula. "Never again!" Then he dropped Starscream to the ground before resuming speaking.
"I will work with you until I have exacted my revenge on the Dinobot leader, but I will never work FOR you," he said before turning to his fellow Predacons. "Predacons, we are leaving this world."
"No!" Unalaq shouted. "We need them t-" he was interrupted however once Predaking shot fire at his side and he and the other Predacons left through the portal. While all of this was going on, Eska lifted Desna's unconscious body by his shoulders and began to follow the Predacons.
"He needs a healer," she said. "I'm taking him back."
"This is more important than that pathetic flesh creature!" Starscream shouted as he, Lugnut, Azula and Unalaq kept firing at the portal, but to no avail. "Get back here blast you, GET BACK HERE!"
Meanwhile, Mako and Arcee were forced inside Varrick's office, which had a bed of hot coal in the center of it, before Varrick swiveled his chair to face them, his fingertips touching and his eyes closed.
I hear you've got some ideas," he said. "You wanna tell me about them?"
"Go ahead," Mako responded. "Torture us all you want. We're not gonna talk."
"Torture?" Varrick asked. "The only thing I want to torture is this pesky foot fungus." With that, he got up and clumsily walked over the bed of coal, yelping in pain before reaching the two of them. "The burning means its working. I heard you've been investigating the recent attacks on my ships, and I think you know that I know that you know, you know?"
"Know what?" Arcee asked.
"That the world is a dangerous place! And that's exactly why I want to offer you two a job on my security force," Varrick answered.
"We have a job," Mako argued.
"We NEED you," Varrick responded before putting an arm around Mako's shoulders. "Me, Asami, Bolin, Blaster, Knock Out, we're all on the same team here. We want you to join us. You wouldn't want anything to happen to Asami, would you? Or what about your brother?"
"What are you saying Varrick?" Arcee asked.
"I'm saying I want your help to protect them," Varrick answered. "Without you, who knows what could happen?"
"Thanks for your concern, but the answer is no," Mako responded, pushing Varrick away before walking out of the room with Arcee.
Back at the Eastern Air Temple, while the Dinobots and the Autobots went down the mountains, Korra, Tenzin and his family descended down on Oogi, who followed the spirits, Bumi holding the blue rabbit spirit.
"Oh, you are just so cute," he said. "I'm going to name you Bum-Ju. It's short for Bumi Junior. Don't you think he looks like me?"
"The resemblance is uncanny," Tenzin answered, not even looking while Jinora, with Kya's hand on her shoulder, frowned.
"I think Dad's mad at me," she said.
"Your father's not mad," Kya reassured. "His pride's just a little bruised since he isn't able to see spirits like you."
"You have a natural gift," Korra added. "That's pretty lucky."
"You're the lucky one," Jinora replied. "You actually got to meet the first Avatar. I know about a lot of Avatars, but I don't know anything about him. Is it even a him, or is it a her?"
"It's a him," Korra answered. "Avatar Wan. He was amazing. I saw how he became the first Avatar by fusing with Raava, the Spirit of Light."
"The Avatar is part spirit?" Jinora asked. "Of course! Just like the statue!"
"What statue?" Kya asked.
"When we were at the Souther Air Temple, I was drawn to this old carving. I couldn't figure out what it was until now. It was the first Avatar."
"When did this happen?" Korra asked.
"It was on the solstice," Jinora answered.
"That's the day I opened the Southern Portal," Korra added.
"Whoa," both she and Korra said at the same time before Oogi landed on the ground in front of the Autobots.
"We're here!" Bumi said before the spirits flew through the forest and the others followed, Tenzin holding Jinora's head and Bum-Ju on Bumi's shoulder.
"Are you sure these spirits are leading us to the right place?" Tenzin asked.
"Of course!" Bumi answered. "I trust Bum-Ju with my life."
"Somehow I'm not surprised," Kup dryly remarked. Soon, they were lead to a circle of large, flat, upright stones on a stone platform that was covered in vines.
"Look!" Rodimus said. "There are carvings on them."
"This is an ancient airbender meditation circle," Tenzin said.
"There's a lot of spiritual energy in this place, but it feels really strange," Jinora added.
"We'll have to perform a spiritual cleansing ceremony," Tenzin said.
"What are you talking about?" Kup asked.
"Dad taught it to me," Tenzin answered. "This site has been neglected for many years. A cleansing ceremony will help strengthen its connection to the Spirit World."
Eventually, Korra, Kya, Bumi, Jinora and the Autobots sat around the middle of the circle while Tenzin stood and the spirits flew over them. Tenzin bended the incense around him, making a circle that covered the area before the spirits, including Bum-Ju, flew off.
"Good job, you cleansed the area of the only spirits that want to help us, and you scared away Bum-Ju," Bumi sarcastically said as Tenzin kept bending the incense around them when a rumbling sound was heard.
"It's working," Tenzin said, only for the stone slab in the middle was violently pushed off the hole and a swarm of dark spirit bats flew out of the hole, causing everyone to stumble back and yell out in fright.
"Ah! Bats!" Bumi shouted in fear while the spirits flew past the group. "Evil bats!"
"Not bats, dark spirits!" Korra corrected before the Dinobots suddenly transformed into their Dinobot modes.
"Then I say we burn them all!" Slug said before the four of them breathed fire at the bats, only for it to do little avail.
"Quit it you lug-heads you're only making them angrier!" Rodimus shouted before the bats swarmed through the Dinobots, causing them to yell out and transform before running for cover.
"What are we supposed to do?" Tenzin asked before Korra suddenly got an idea and ran to the center, closing her eyes and touching her fists. She then bended a stream of water around them, trapping them before maving circular movements with her hands, using Unalaq's calming techniques to make the water glow gold before the spirits faded away, back into thevSpirit World.
"Amazing," Kya said as she and the others shielded their eyes from the bright light and the light exploded in a bright flash and the vines covering the stones receded into the hole in the floor, cleansing the area.
"Your spiritual training has come a long way," Tenzin said as he walked to Korra's side.
"Unalaq may be a horrible person, but his spirit powers are no joke," Korra replied.
"He taught you how to transform dark spirits, I can't even get you into the Spirit World," Tenzin said.
"Everything Unalaq taught me was to help HIMSELF," Korra reminded him. "Everything you've done was meant to help me. I am so sorry for turning my back on you as my mentor. I need you now more than ever."
"I won't let you down," Tenzin promised before the two of them shared a hug. "The ancient airbenders must have built this site. If we meditate here, we'll be able to enter the Spirit World."
"Not this meditation slag agai-" Slug was about to say before Swoop slapped his hand on his mouth.
"Why don't you go first?" Korra asked Tenzin.
"After all these years, my father's dream for me will finally come true," Tenzin replied, hopeful.
While that was going on, back at New Iacon, Arcee and Mako worked tirelessly to try and find evidence against Varrick back at his apartment when they heard a knock at the door.
"Police!" Lu's voice said.
"What the spark?" Arcee asked before getting up and opening the door, revealing Lin, Prowl, Lu and Gang, the latter two looking smug.
"Hey Arcee, May-ko," Lu said, deliberatly butchering Mako's name. "Hope we didn't interrupt you two." Without warning, Lu and Gang then entered the apartment, searching it.
"You two better have a good explanation for busting in here without a warrant," Arcee said to Lin and Prowl before Lin suddenly pulled out a search warrant from her armor, shocking Arcee.
"What the-why were't we informed of this!?" she asked.
"We busted some Triple Threats who said you hired them for a job," Lu answered.
"Alright, it's true," Mako admitted before Arcee could respond. "We were trying to figure out who stole Asami's stuff, so we hired them for a sting operation."
"And as much as I hate to admit it, we also worked with a bounty hunter named Lockdown," Arcee added. "Of course he ended up stabbing us in the back, stupid on me for trusting him, but we're sorry we went behind your backs.
"According to the Triple Threats, Mako did more than that," Lin added.
"They said that he helped them steal a warehouse full of Future Industries property," Prowl added.
"What!?" Mako asked.
"That's crazy!" Arcee added. "You're seriously gonna believe a bunch of criminals!?"
"I have to follow up on a lead," Lin answered.
"Really?" Arcee asked. "Well where the frag was your lazy bumper when Mako and I found TWO leads!?"
"Arcee, calm dow-" Prowl began, only for Lu to interrput him.
"Well, looky what I found," he said, holding a duffle bag as well as a roll of yuons. "Cash...and these." He then pulled an explosive out of the bag.
"What are you doing with explosives Mako?" Lin sternly asked.
"I don't know where those came from," Mako answered.
"Search it for fingerprints," Arcee suggested. "Maybe you can-" However, she was cut short by the sound of Gang handcuffing Mako.
"You're under arrest," he said, baffling Arcee.
"WHAT!?" she asked. "You're seriously going to arrest him!?"
"Listen, your partner's just a crooked cop," Lu responded. "That sting operation was just a way to lure Miss Sato away from her warehouse."
"Once a Triple Threat, always a Tripple Threat," Gang added before he lead Mako out of the room.
"No, listen it me!" he said. "It's Varrick! He set me up!"
"Yeah, it's Varrick's fault," Gang sarcastically responded before Lin turned to Arcee.
"And as for you, your actions today as well as that sting opperation were highly-" she began, only for Arcee to suddenly yell out in rage and kick Lin against a wall. Prowl looked on in shock before Lin, groaning in pain, glared up at Arcee.
"Consider that my resignation Chief," she said before ripping the badge on her chasis and tossing it to the ground. "It's clear now that I'm going to have to do what you did Bei Fong, solve this and bring Varrick to justice, OUTSIDE of the law." With that, she stepped on her badge, crumbling it up before jumping through the window and onto the streets, transforming and deploying a holographic driver on her seat.
Back at the Eastern Air Temple, Tenzin was meditating in front of the stones while the others waited by a fire. Bumi, growing impatient then used a stick to poke Tenzin in the back of the head.
"You in the Spirit World yet?" he asked.
"No, I am not, and stop bugging me!" he answered before airbending the stick away from him.
"It's okay, Tenzin," Kya said. "Maybe you weren't meant to guide Korra into the Spirit World."
"No!" Tenzin responded. "Just give me some time!"
"Stop being so stubborn," Kya sternly replied. "It's not your destiny. I think Jinora was meant to guide the Avatar."
"Jinora will not enter the Spirit World!" Tenzin objected, standing and turning to face the others. "She's not ready for the dangers of the other side, but I am. I've spent years training, studying, and mastering everything there is to know about the Spirit World."
"Tenzin, we're running out of time," Rodimus argued.
"If everyone could just be quiet and let me focus!" Tenzin responded before closing his eyes and turning around, but then he feels Jinora taking his hand.
"Aunt Kya is right," she said. "I can guide Korra into the Spirit World. I'll be all right." All Tenzin could do was look down at his daughter sadly and turn to face the others.
"Perhaps I will never have the connection with spirits like I always wanted... Like my father wanted me to have," he said.
"It's okay Daddy," Jinora replied, hugging her father while he placed a hand on her head.
"I'm proud of you," Tenzin said before turning to face Korra. "Go. Close the portal."
"We'll remain here and guard your bodies until you return," Rodimus added. "Be careful in there Korra."
"Don't worry Rodimus," Korra replied. "I will." With that, Korra and Jinora sat in the circle as the others watched on. They began to meditate until Korra entered into the Avatar State and their spirits slowly left their bodies, entering an area that flourished with foliage.
"The Spirit World," Korra said.
Back with Unalaq, Sstarscream and Azula, the three of them kneeled in front of the giant tree where Vaatu is imprisoned.
"My master, we have failed you," Azula said. "The Avatar is dead, and we cannot open the Northern portal."
"You have not failed me...yet," Vaatu responded. "The Avatar still lives."
"How do you know?" Unalaq asked.
"Even though my connection to Raava was severed, I can still feel her presence," Vaatu answered.
"We'll find her," Starscream said and preparred to transform, only for Vaatu to interrupt him.
"The Avatar will find YOU," he said. "She has just entered the Spirit World."
