Due to the strength of the medication that he had to take, Mokuba spent a great deal of his first night home sleeping. Seto had taken the day off of work so that he could spend the time with Mokuba, but there wasn't much for the two of them to do when the younger Kaiba was asleep.
Regardless, Seto stayed with his baby brother, watching the boy rest. Despite the doctors, the nurses, and even Mokuba telling him that what had happened was not his fault, the teenage Kaiba still felt remorse for not being there.
"I'll make it up to you, Mokie," Seto whispered into his sleeping sibling's ear. "I'll find the person who did this to you and when I do, I'll send them to hell myself."
Mokuba murmured something unintelligible in his sleep.
Seto took off his coat and climbed into bed beside Mokuba, gently wrapping his arms around the sleeping boy and stroking his hair gently. He swore that this would never happen again, the young CEO would make sure it didn't.
Suddenly, Mokuba yawned and opened his eyes slowly.
"Big brother..." he whispered, blinking sleepily as he stared up at Seto.
Seto smiled slightly at the little boy.
"Go back to sleep, kid," he said, patting Mokuba on the head. "You need to rest."
"Okay," Mokuba sighed, too tired to put up too much of an argument.
In a matter of seconds, the young boy was once again enveloped in sleep.
Seto stared down at his sleeping brother, still feeling extremely guilty for what had happened.
That was when he vowed that he would find the person who had done this to his brother and when he did, he would make sure that person, man or woman, paid for what they'd done. Poor Mokuba would most likely never be able to walk again and that person was probably off somewhere having the time of their life, not a care in the world. Not even considering the thought that they had ruined a young child's life. Maybe forever.
Mokuba mattered more to Seto than anything else. He meant more to him than his company, his title as a champion duelist, he even meant more to Seto than the teenage Kaiba's prized Blue-Eyes White Dragons and knowing Seto Kaiba, that was saying a great deal.
Suddenly, little Mokuba stirred in his sleep, twitching slightly and moaning softly.
"Seto..." the child whimpered. "Big brother...Seto..."
"It's alright, Mokie," Seto whispered, wrapping his arms around his frightened sibling. "I'm right here. It's okay."
"I promise everything will be okay,"Seto said, tilting his head to the side so that it rested above Mokuba's. "I'll find who did it. I'll make them sorry they ever hurt you. No one injures MY baby brother and gets away with it. Not if I have anything to say about it."

So, how was it?Yes, I'm aware that it was short, but I promise that the next chapter will be much longer and filled with angst.
But other than that, what did you think of it? Let me know.
