Hey guys, so I finally get to know a writers block. And I'm sorry I'm so awful with updating. I'm not even really sure about the chapter, so pretty please tell me what you think.
Disclaimer: Surprise I do not own Castle
Once Kate was in her penthouse, she tucked Aiden in and waited 'til he was asleep. She kissed his head and turned the big light off, so that the night light was the only thing that lightened the room. Aiden looked so peaceful, she loved the fact, it made her smile.
Beckett showered and dressed herself in Rick's clothes again, laid under her sheets and called Rick. It didn't take long, 'til Rick answered the phone. Before she could say something Castle spoke in a low voice: "You're such a tease. "
Beckett chuckled "Oh if you don't like it. I'm sorry I overstepped. I just didn't want you to forget me." Kate said with her lawyer voice in the beginning, but ended rather unsure. What if she really had overstepped?
"First of all I could never forget you and secondly feel free to forget your things under my pillow whenever you want. But you have to know this has a BIG effect on me. If you know what I mean." Castle stated with a such a big grin on his face, that Beckett knew over the phone how much he really did like it.
"Yeah, good that you like it." There was a moment of silence until Beckett spoke again
"Rick? I- You know I haven't dated since I was pregnant with Aiden, don't you?" Kate asked insecure and Castle just hummed into the phone.
"Well that's about seven years ago now… And I don't really know if I'm going to be good in this, because well you know I work a lot, a lot. My work comes right after Aiden and gosh I sound like a teenager, but can you be patient with me? And tell me if I invest too less time in our relationship?" Kate asked so quietly, that Rick had trouble to understand
"Listen Kate, we said we take things slow. And I am fine with slow, of course it won't always be easy but I think we can make this work." Castle said tenderly, hoping it would help her to calm down.
"Yes, but you have to know I do have a past and it is a big part of my life. I- I haven't shared it in a long time, so there will be trouble and I won't be an easy partner." Kate stated, not ready to share with him yet what happened to her.
"Oh Kate, we'll figure it out, okay? I have a past too and we'll just see. Maybe it won't be a problem and we just can you know, enjoy our relationship?" Castle asked and the nine year old was back. But this made Beckett feel better, because she knew he'd be there for her.
"Okay so you wanted me to call you Mr. Castle, why is that?" Kate asked with a smile on her face.
"Well Miss Beckett, you can't talk that easily when kids are around, so I thought a good night call wouldn't be too bad. We can talk and get to know each other a little bit more." Castle explained grinning in at the thought
"Oh and what would you like to know?" Kate asked teasingly.
"If you have time Friday evening?" Rick asked and Kate's smile grew.
"If Aiden's babysitter is free. Yes I do." Kate said softly, excitment growing.
Castle felt his heart quicken "Great! I'll guess we'll talk again soon, but for now I'll let you go. Sleep well my dear." Rick said with a totally charming voice, Kate loved the tone of it.
"Nice. Yeah so? Talk to you tomorrow?"
"Until tomorrow Kate." "
Goodnight Rick" When the phone call ended Kate fell asleep with a big smile on her face. Meanwhile Rick had to take care about the effect, the bra and the happenings this evening did to him.
Kate was nervous. She never had this talk with her son and wasn't sure what he'd say. So after his homework was done, Kate took him to the park and bought him his favorite ice-cream. When they both sat and Aiden stopped talking about school and his friends, Beckett tried to start the talk.
"Hey Aiden, you know what a boyfriend is, don't you?" Kate asked softly, looking him in the eyes
"Yes it like a husband without a ring. Joey's mama has one." Aiden explained.
"That's right and would you mind if I had a boyfriend?" Kate held her breath, she didn't want to ask him this directly, but she just had to know.
"A bit yes." Aiden said without much thinking. Beckett was in shock and her stomach started to ache, that was what she had hoped would never happen.
"Really why is that?" She asked hoping, well she wasn't sure what she was hoping for.
"Well Joey doesn't like his mama's boyfriend, but he says she's happy, but his whole life changed they even had to move." Aiden said with a worried face.
"And what if I'd promise you, that our life wouldn't change?" Aiden had to think about that.
"I guess I could be okay with that, but I don't want to know him Mummy. I never had a daddy and I don't want one. I want only to live with you." Kate had tears in her eyes. She loved her baby boy so much.
"Come here let me hug you." Aiden happily came to her and hugged her as tightly as he could. "I love you so so much Aiden, please never ever forget that."
Aiden nodded, after a while they went to the playground. While her six year old played, she thought about what he said. She knew she would do what he wanted. Aiden was more important, but she didn't know how to tell Castle, that her son actually didn't want her in a relationship. And with this knowledge she couldn't be in one. Yes she hated that feeling, because it was what she wanted, but she promised herself Aiden would always be on the top of her life.
Castle picked Alexis from school and went with her to her favorite diner. Alexis told him about her school day and her new friend.
After they had finished their lunch Rick started the talk. He never had to do this before, because all of his other girlfriends didn't have a child and it was easier to meet this way. But with Kate it wasn't like that. He wanted Alexis to be okay with that, because he knew he wanted Kate in his life for the long shot and there was no way to have this chance, if Alexis wouldn't be okay with it.
"So Alexis, do you know what having a girlfriend means?" Castle asked
"Yes you play with her and she is a girl." Alexis stated innocently.
Castle needed to chuckle, gosh his daughter was sweet. "Well that's true. But grownups can have a girlfriend, too. Except they don't "play" with her. They have a relationship and do grownup stuff you know?" This was so awkward, but even as a writer he didn't know how to do this.
"Like husband and wife?" Alexis asked
"Yeah, but they aren't married and don't obligatory live together." Rick explained and Alexis nodded, he really hoped she would understand. "Alexis, would you be okay with it, if I had a girlfriend?" Castle asked and held his breath.
Alexis took time to think about it. "I guess yes. But I don't want you to fight like you did with mummy." Alexis said after a while and Rick beamed.
"Okay I can do that. So how about an ice and then we'll go home?" Now Alexis beamed "
I want chocolate!" Castle smiled. This was perfect. Kate and him really did have a chance, now he hoped Aiden would be okay with it too.
While Alexis was eating her ice cream, Castle texted Kate, saying he had good new and hoped everything was fine. The answer came rather too soon and what he read scared him a bit. We need to talk, alone.
*scared look* Soo how bad is it?
