CBI Bullpen - (Monday Night)

"Any word from Jane?"

"Nope." Rigsby muttered

"And you have no idea where he is."

"Nope." Grace answered.

"And no guesses?"

"Nope." Cho repeated.

Wainright stared at them all.

"And you actually don't know where he is… You're not just covering for him while he does something problematic and illegal?"

"We really don't know, Sir. Our best guess would be that he's out there concocting some crazy scheme to find the Boss. And we're going to leave him to do it."

"He'll turn up when he needs to use us for something." Cho added.

"Okay. Fine. What do we have so far? Do we know what this guy wants from Lisbon?" He looked around at the dejected team.

"Well it's obviously something to do with the deal we were setting him up to take." Cadie began. "As I've already said, the plan was to offer him access to one of the few drugs on the market he doesn't control. Give him a deal he didn't want to refuse and catch him in the act of accepting it. 'Janet Parker' was the messenger more than anything else. The fictional 'Cole' was supposedly the supplier and lead dealer."

"So far we think that maybe Monary didn't want to share the profits." Rigsby continued. "Wanted instead to find out Cole's location and secrets from 'Janet' so that he could just take what he wants."

Wainright nodded "That seems to make sense."

"Problem is…" Cadie said slowly "…if that's all he wants we're running out of time faster than we thought."

"What do you mean?"

"We gave Lisbon a lot of information. Enough so that she could concoct whatever stories she might need about Cole and the drugs, and we set up strong data to ensure the truth couldn't be uncovered…"

"But?"

"… But there are only so many facts that will check out. There is only so much she can tell them before things will begin to unravel. This was not deep cover. Jane was right. We underestimated Monary."

"So what is the next step?"

"I'm searching through all buildings linked to Monary and his businesses in any way" Cho began. "We're trying to narrow it down to places they might take Lisbon, but there are dozens of them. Rigsby is running through all Jared Silverstein's known associates with police records to try and find the other men who took Lisbon."

Grace continued; "Cadie and I are working on the surveillance angle. Lisbon apparently had the tracker on her all the way to the safe house. But we know she never made it there on her own and that her phone was smashed in the woods, so she must have kept the tracking chip on her somewhere. Something has been blocking the signal, but if we're lucky we might still be able to find it."

"And there's a forensic team on their way to the safe house." Cadie added.

"So basically" Rigsby began calmly "we're sitting here looking at files while Lisbon is out there, possibly in huge and growing danger", he finished his sentence in barely concealed fury.

Everyone went silent.

"We need Jane."

"So where the hell is he?"

Authors Note: Hey guys, guess who's back? I know, it's been two years, feel free to be mad at me if you're still around. Basically I've going though my writing in preparation to start my Creative Writing Masters (yay) and I couldn't help but want to finish this. Much of it I wrote two or more years ago (such as this chapter) but much (like the next chapter) had been left unfinished, or half-written because at the time I was stuck and couldn't decide how to fill in the gaps.. A quick, huge thanks to those who left reviews over the last few years asking me to come finish this story; without those reminders I would never have remembered to do so. So, here we go, back into the fray. I hope you all enjoy!
