I thought this place was big before, but now it was absolutely massive, practically a hidden city! Massive chandeliers hanged from the black ceiling giving the place massive amounts of light! However it only dropped a tiny drop in the ocean of darkness. I saw huge statues that flanked on either side, the sense of scale was just overwhelming. It must had taken them hundreds of years to build this temple The statues were of Darknuts and I took a step in the chamber, but then I realized they were just pillars when suddenly blue flame torches lit themselves, brighten the place a bit more, but it illuminated hidden statues. However, these statues eternal markers of the Gods and the Goddesses in pitched battle. The blue flames came to an end to what looked like a forge, just behind it an enormous depiction of Hylia fighting the Demon King Atsgurim, or know to the Hylians as Demise. Speechless we found a large guard-less stone walkway that led the forge. As we walked down it the first few statues, were the inevitable war that came between the Goddesses and the Gods. It showed that the mountain range that most Northmen live in was an attempt of the Goddess Din to stopped the advancing Northern League, as the statues had huge tablets translated in three languages, one I and Freia knew was written in Northern, another Freia identified was Ancient Hylian, and one we had no clue, maybe Darknut. Hundreds of feet later showed the Rise of Demise, because they sheer anger between the Divines fighting against each other, the barrier our world and the Demons shattered. The statue showed Demise, emerging and erupting from Death Mountain covering a large portion in the land in absolute darkness and chaos.
"With the constant Chaos, the Demons themselves could invade, their King Astsgurim leading the unholy force. Hundreds of years of constant war were to pass." Freia said.
So we continued down the next statue, it was also the last. It showed the Slaying of Gar and the Destruction of Ulur by Demise using the sword Ghirahim, however the two put a massive fight, as it showed Demise wheezing for air, he might had gotten a lucky blow. For the sword, nothing in our history where the sword came from, as previous statue showed Demise rise weaponless. We took a kneel in honor for the Fallen Gods, it showed the Northern Gods retreating in horror as well as the Northmen, however Hylia was behind Demise, ready to challenge him. It also showed the ascending of the Hylians into the sky, as depicted by the two Hylians floating off behind Hylia. That final statue led the battle between Hylia who wielded the Sword to defeat Demise. It might had been a noble sacrifice because it resulted in her supposed death, but what happened before it was nearly unforgivable. To this day her reincarnation mocks and belittles us, unknowingly or not.
"So we hid in the deep inside of the mountains, while they went high into the sky?"
"It seems so, this place is absolutely colossal. Could fit the entire land's people comfortably in. If they were here how long it was?"
"We will never know." Freia assumed.
We reached the end of the walkway the anvil had a final inscription on it.
"Here lies the solemn remnants of Two Brothers. Divine both they were, Kings of the fierce Northern League. May this be their tomb and these anvil be their will. For whoever returns the Spear, the Axe, and the Baneful Sword shall wield, Mortal…" I was interrupted by the sound of wings flapping in the distance.
"And so, the warrior of the North comes…bearing the Axe and the Spear. Never had I thought I would see this day come. Certainly an notable act." A deep throaty voice echoed out in the darkness. It felt something powerful, extremely dominant, and primordial. I could hear the entire place rumble. Then a roar that deafened the room and a creature silhouetted flew over us. It reverberated again and came into insight. It was a dragon, black as the Abyss, great in size, yet it nimbly landed on the Statue of the Duel between Hylia and Demise. It eyes shone red and its scales reflected the blue and yellow light from the torches. It growled as laid its eyes upon me and I could see Freia shaking a bit. I felt uneasy as well. The beast had two pairs of wings and a crown of metal horns surrounding its head.
"Who are you?" I instinctively called out to the Dragon. It began to shift to take off.
"I…I am the demon that lurks this place. For thousands of years I have waiting to escape. You should not have come here Fateless. For I am then Baneful Sword." It called with its booming voice as it took off from this statue, and began to circle around the chamber.
"I have render the flesh of untold the flesh of all of the warriors who have come here. You are no different Fateless. I am the Demon Lord Ghirahim, Slayer of your weak and pathetic gods. Come meet your end." Ghirahim said as he landed in front of us and roared, just as it landed I saw its scale were made of endless sea of black diamonds. I thought Freia would have ran, anyone would, but already drew her axe, she was stubborn as mule. I turned my attention towards Ghirahim. I did not draw Gaurgir, I armed Reprisal, having a sense I would need it.
"What are you doing here, in the Tomb of Gar and Ulur? Should not you be with your master in the Abyss?"
"When the Hero of Time slain Demise, It freed me of his bindings. Now I dwell here because of the Hero's like you. Now I am bound to this place because of your Gods, until after I will destroy. But petty backstory means nothing, you will not survive this night, come and meet your fate!"
Ghirahim screeched which summoned a wall of violet and black flames. Surrounding the forge, I instantaneously threw Reprisal at him as he was inhaling deeply. Ghirahim was about breath his fire at the spear. He exhaled but nothing but hot air came out, the spear cancelled the magic and pierced into his chest, causing him to snarl in pain and the flames to dissipate. I nodded to Freia and we charged at him. I swung overhead into his lower chest Gaurgir head became cold as ancient ice cleaving my way into the dark flesh. Freia swung into his left front elbow joint, but as soon as struck him. Her axe simply disintegrated shocked she backed off. Ghirahim recovering his pain raised his left hand, swiped, but I swung my Axe to block, causing him to roar in anger. He snapped his jaws, only to have slammed shut, Ghirahim was slow, and I could see his attacks coming a mile away.
"I will not be defeated this easily, Fateless." Ghirahim threatened as he began to circle around me. I had my eyes locked on him.
"Jorgen, Reprisal effect is wearing off!" Freia yelled.
I saw the flames about to return and Ghirahim was about to exhale again. He took a deep breath and breathed line of soldering violet fire towards me. I rolled to the right as fast as I could but he constantly breathed the unholy fires. He stopped and was about to take off. I needed Reprisal which hanged from his upper throat. I saw Ghirahim sucking in swirls of dark magic to form a fireball. I needed to get on him, but then the Demon took off into and he released the fireball. It travelled slow and steady, but too fast to dodge it, I hatched a plan.
"This better work." I said as the fireball got ever closer, I could feel the immense heat it radiated. I swung Gaurgir at the second the fireball nearly hit me. It reflected back at Ghirahim even faster. It crashed into the Demon and made him lose balance. Right after that moment he begun to swoop in anger towards the ground. I jumped off the cliff, swung Gaurgir into the ground, and launched myself into the platform. Ghirahim was dazed from that miss. I took a swing at his head to daze him more, then followed with an uppercut to keep him on his toes. I at that point I rolled under his grabbing Reprisal, making Ghirahim scream in pain. However he raised himself and I backed up and ducked as he swung his long tail as he turned around. The flame walls rose high again. Ghirahim smiled horribly as he turned to see Freia had nothing but a hatchet.
"A fool, did you really expect to harm me with simple iron? You will not be the first maiden's soul I ripped from." He spoke and his claws began to wreath in flames. I took after him, however he moved swiftly as a wolf.
Ghirahim began advance at Freia quickly. Too quickly for me to catch him, Ghirahim pounced towards her, but showed little fear and ran towards him. She ducked and slid under his claws and emerged behind him. Ghirahim was confused and smashed into his own flame wall. Roaring in pain again and giving a precious moment. I lifted Reprisal.
"Freia, catch!" I said as a threw Reprisal
"What, you are the Trapper and I am the bait?"
"Big game hunting right here. You're going to need something right now!"
"I got the Beast with sights then!" As Freia was about the spear. However she waved off as Ghirahim shriek painful loud deafening us. He rose from the ground and Ghirahim did not turn around but flew straight into the air and into the darkness. I couldn't even see him. I began looking furiously, suddenly I saw the red eyes peer from the darkness he hovered just beyond the platform. Freia turned around to meet him as well.
"BURN, BURN BURN! Ghirahim was released from the shadows and began to hover, his claws spawned that demon fire. Suddenly enough the entire plat form was about to ignite. But then I saw Reprisal whine through the air and strike the belly of the beast. A shriek of pain followed as the platform cooled and the fire walls again dissipated. Ghirahim this time landed in a controlled manner. He was tired from the spear, he grabbed the spear, but was meet with shocking pain. In his act of foolishness I executed a jumping over-headed head swung, followed by diagonal slice, followed by horizontal dice, then a twirling blade, in the spinning I saw the eyes of the Lions glowed brightly. After the final spin I jumped up and smashed the freezing axe into the ground summoning an enormous iceberg and knocking him to the ceiling. He fell down and thumped into the platform, the spear pierced right threw him, flews towards me and pierced the hard stone floor.
"Most impressive, but this will only end in your defeat." Ghirahim said with a haughty voice.
"I can smell your fear." I threaten him.
He only narrowed his eyes and roared for eternity. He flew back into the air and summoned a weaker version of flame walls.
"Servants, I command you, kill these wretched things"
The shadows that Ghirahim spawned formed into Darknuts, multiple Darknuts. They drew their swords, however they did not advance instead they all turned around they all simultaneously said.
"We do not kill the Unbound Warrior, he is our Good to the world, honor him!"
"YOU USELESS DARKNUTS! I'll rip all your souls apart!" Ghirahim bellowed at his disloyal servants. He began to absorb massive amounts of demon fire and began to laugh insanely. Then the laughing become resounding shrill of a shriek. He exploded his sphere of demon fire the Darknuts formed a line to block it for us. Ghirahim emerged from the explosion his body was cracked with purple veins and crevasses oozing with demon fire and blood. His eyes were nothing violet flames, his wings bellowed as they wreathed in fire as well.
"I WILL NOT BE SO EASILY BEATEN!" Ghirahim bellowed towards us, the Darknuts were reactionless. I and Freia were ready for whatever was to come. Then Ghirahim was beginning to vaporize and tear off the ceiling indeed the very mountain part. The very earth began to shake and the platform began to crack and fall off piece by piece.
"He's bringing the damn entire mountain down! Jorgen, you got to throw it!" Freia
"It is longshot, if I miss, we're dead, maybe even worse."
"I have faith in you." She said as she held spear for me to take.
I nodded and made a small prayer to Gar and Ulur. I grabbed the spear, the Darknuts diverged for an opening. The statues, indeed everything was being reduced to dust, I leaned back, arched as far as could, I didn't held my breath, and threw it with what power I had left. I saw the Spear and the Sphere travel through the air almost as time was at stand still, there it went into the heart of the Demon, Ghirahim knew of his fate, and roared, light erupted from his veins, he began violently shaking,
"It is been done. Your efforts are still in vain, I will be…" Ghirahim spoke before exploding in a supernova of cold wind and icy magical remains. We all emerged from the blast. We survived and Reprisal landed right in front of me, it was glowing violet and black with the spear being entirely black. I cautiously picked it held, it was frosty to the touch, and looked up as the there was a huge opening to the sky. It was morning the fresh cool air rolled it, I looked at Freia, she had a sign of relief on her face, and she unexpectedly embraced me, which shocked me more than Ghirahim's death. Then I saw it formed in front of me, from the shadows of the slain beast, the Baneful Sword, the Demonic Blade arose. It was a black-reddish looking blade, with three spines running throughout the blade, at the near top of the blade there was Triforce insignia before leading up to the hilt which had four spines, it almost had the same hilt as the Hylia's sword. Freia released me to retrieve it and I cautiously lifted it up from the pedestal. I laid the on the anvil and went back to Freia.
"I am just glad to be alive." Freia said. She was almost crying but remained strong. I gave her a hug to console her. She was almost surprised as I was.
"Same here, but now what." I said.
"That is where I come to help you." An unfamiliar voice said. It sounded distant and cold. Freia's face was now completely shocked. I turned slowly to see spirits of two old warriors next to the anvil. I hurriedly bow so did Freia.
"You need not bow, even here you earned much. So raise yourselves, we talk man to man to women to man." One of the Spirits said.
"Aye, killing that damned demon sure did the trick, and as well put an end to an ancient evil! I've been yearning to get out of this place! Well don't just stand there git yourselves up here! Don't keep my brother Gar waiting. Even though we are remnants of our former selves, we can't wait till sodding breakfast!"
We hurried ourselves to the anvil. I never thought Ulur had a sense of humor, then it again, unlike the Goddesses, our Gods tended to have more, human like qualities than the Hylians.
"I am honored to meet you, Gar, God of Winter and War, and Ulur, God of Seas and Victory." I said
"I am humbled too. What is your bidding?"
"We are not here to ask you of anything other than what here Jorgen is for. By killing Ghirahim, you both finally freed this place from his dreadful guardianship of this temple. While we cannot be here for long, I promise to help you." Gar and Ulur sidestepped
"Ghirahim, terrible bastard of a blade. It was our and Hylia's first attempt on the sword, attempt being held loosely. They found it to be inadequate that lead to the second blade which you already has a bloody story. Now lies on the anvil, join it with other two, Reprisal, and my axe Gaurgir, such a good axe."
"Is Reprisal supposed to flaming?"
"Yes, that is the Soul of Ghirahim, and we are going to need it. As much I would disapprove the reward is a weapon that is neither evil nor good."
I lowered Gaurgir onto it. Gar nodded to Ulur and he spawned his hammer. Gar spawned his hammer.
"Let's makes this right. I think I forgot one step to neutralize the evil." Gar said.
I saw Gar and Ulur began to strike the forge. It began to glow brighter and brighter. They were furiously pounding the weapons. Ulur was infusing magic as he was pounding the weapons, then anvil glowed so brightly that began to engulf the entire anvil. Superhumanly they began to chant and shape the metal until was hot, very hot.
"Just like old times brother."
"I remembered a ten others. But it'll do."
"Just a bit more, now!"
They stopped pounding the glowing anvil to let the rising sun shimmer on it. The anvil began to hum louder and louder. Gar and Ulur began to chant brassier and brassier as well. Then anvil made a harmless explosion. Gar grabbed the formless light and dipped into a well filled with cool water I could hear the sizzling of the boiling water…it was strangely relaxing. He took it to the anvil and hit it with his hammers three times. The water began to steam off and the light began forming something. Gar and Ulur began to stare intensely at it. The light began to form a spear, wait, no, it reformed into a...scythe, a very ornate scythe but a simple-looking nonetheless, though it was still simmering in light. The light began to fade away, the Spirits began to fade away, breathing in signs of relieve.
"But I have so many questions?"
"They will all be answered…in time. Go now, wield the weapon of the Fateless, Mortality, Death itself, you will need it. The second sword…will be as powerful, will be raised against you. We cannot tell you much else as we do not know your fate."
The spirits were gone. However a portal opened on the far side of the platform. It looked like it led to the Valley of Seers, but it was different than I remembered. I turned back to that Mortality was finished glowing. It was a sliver weapon, crafted smoothly, its pole flowed smoothly up to the cross-section where the Sphere of Ronnourth was engraved, and the Lion from Gaurgir had its mouth gaped were the blade came out, it was long, easily going past, so elegant but it had hint of the baneful sword that made as it had a tiny spine in the middle. The Triforce was gone. It was definitely a two handed weapon when I took it off the pedestal but it was lighter as the air. I felt a bit of nothingness when wielding it and I gave it few swings, it behaved almost exactly like a spear and axe combined. I placed it on my back and turned to look a Freia, she looked mildly impressed.
"Such a beautiful blade, was this they were trying to make?"
"Maybe. I do not know but that portal in front of me takes me where I need to go."
"And maybe I could come with? If you mind."
"Well, you are going to need a blade."
"I suspect you aren't going to use that sword anytime soon. Then again, my uncle could not have expected what you just received."
I did forget I had a sword, again. I unhooked from my belt and gave it to her. She unsheathed it, activated its enchantment. She strapped the sheath to her belt and sheathed the sword. Admiring the sun I took a moment to get my head clear before I ventured forth.
This was only about to start.
