Hayner woke with start, alarm clock screaming; he was covered in sweat and panting. He had no idea why he had such a dream. Granted he was afraid that, that might be one of Seifer's reactions to his confession, but he'd never try and kill himself. He knew how much he would be missed and if he somehow survived the attempt his friends and family would kill him. He ran a hand through his hair and turned the alarm clock off.

Hayner got up, grabbed some clothes, and went to the bathroom. He needed a shower desperately. When he finished getting ready for school, he went downstairs. His mom had breakfast made and sitting on the table already. He sat down and started to dig in. There was movement in the corner of his eye, and when he glanced over he almost choked on his food. Seifer had walked in, grabbed a glass of juice, and sat across from him.

"What?" Seifer asked, when Hayner continued staring.

"Why are you here?" Hayner asked.

"Simple I don't trust Kadaj and his brothers to leave you alone."

"Ace can watch out for me though."

"As much as I believe Ace would do his best to protect you, even he can't take on three people. Besides Axel's worried about them going after Roxas again, so he's taking him to school."

"I don't really expect Roxas to walk with me that much anymore anyway."

"Why is that?"

"You haven't heard? Axel and Roxas are a thing now."

"Huh, didn't think blondie was gay."

"…" Hayner just glared at Seifer.

"What?" Seifer asked, confused by Hayner's reaction.

"What you got something against gays?"

Hayner stood up and left before Seifer could respond. He grabbed his backpack and walked out the door with Ace following. Hayner was fuming; he really didn't want to confess to Seifer now. The reaction would be like his dream, or maybe it would be worse than his dream. Ace was watching Hayner closely and Hayner heard Seifer catch up to them. He didn't say anything and neither did the others. Although now Hayner's dream was on the forefront of his mind, he'd have to catch Olette and talk to her. If he didn't get it off his chest soon, he'd be depressed all day.

When they made it to school, Seifer left and headed off to the college campus for his classes. They still had 15 minutes before classes started. Ace went over and started flirting with Olette, while Pence sat next to Hayner. Hayner couldn't believe his cousin, he specifically told him to stay away from Olette. He looked over at Pence and saw the jealousy there.

"You know if you would just ask her out, you wouldn't have to worry about someone beating you to it." Hayner commented.

"I can't, Hayner. I don't want to ruin our friendship. Besides I doubt she feels the same." Pence replied.

"For being one of the smartest kids in school, you really are dumb." Roxas stated, walking up and sitting down.

"Ace, has more nerve than you, Pence. He won't hesitate in asking her out." Hayner said.

"If she says yes, then obviously she likes him and who am I to stand in her way." Pence replied.

Hayner and Roxas just looked at each other, and then sighed in exasperation. They were never going to get anywhere if Pence didn't stop thinking like that. They went back to watching Ace and couldn't believe how much Olette was blushing. If they didn't intervene soon, Ace was going to win Olette over and Pence would never have his chance. Just then Hayner's phone went off and he looked down at it.

Its time to intervene im tired of this dancing around shit -Roxas

Hayner looked up at Roxas and nodded. They both grabbed Pence and dragged him off. Hayner noticed Olette's curious glance, but ignored it. When they got to the bathroom, Roxas barred the door and Hayner glared at Pence. Pence backed up and stared at his friends in fear.

"Enough is enough. Either you tell Olette how you feel or you'll regret it for the rest of your life." Hayner stated.

"No, I'm fine. It's just a crush, who cares." Pence replied.

"Bullshit!" Roxas answered angrily.

"If I'm willing to go through the humiliation of confessing to Seifer, you are going to confess to Olette." Hayner said.

"I finally gave into Axel's advances and am happy I did, even if it has only been a day." Roxas stated.

"It's different with you guys though. Roxas, you knew Axel liked you. Hayner, we all can see how much Seifer cares about you, you're just too blind. Olette is and has always been my best friend. I don't want to ruin that." Pence replied.

"Seifer only cares for himself. Now you have until the end of tomorrow to confess to Olette, before I tell Ace she's free game." Hayner stated and walked out of the bathroom.

Ace and Olette were still talking and waiting for class to start. Hayner walked over, grabbed Ace, and dragged him off. Ace didn't say anything, he just followed. When they made it to their first class and sat down, Ace turned to Hayner.

"What the fuck?" Ace asked.

"I told you to stay away from Olette; we are trying to get Pence to ask her out." Hayner replied.

"He's not going to though. I know this and so do you."

"He has until tomorrow night. If he fails, as much as I hate it, Olette is free game."

"Deal."

Hayner didn't like the smirk Ace had on his face. Just then the bell rang and students started filing into the room. Lynx walked in and sat in her seat next to Hayner. He smiled at her and she waved. She got her stuff out and organized her desk, then turned to Hayner.

"How are you today, Hayner?" She asked.

"I'm pretty good. How about you?" He asked.

"Great! Oh did you hear? The school sponsored a karaoke night on the music class's behalf. It's supposed to be super awesome. They're getting the college cafes band to play the music."

"Sounds like fun, when is it?"

"Tomorrow night."

"I'll see if the gang wants to go."

"I already know Olette is going; she was the one who was so persistent to get it approved."

"Sounds like Olette."

Just then the bell rang, all the talking stopped as the teacher walked in. He welcomed Hayner back and introduced Ace. After that he started in on the lesson. He was so busy writing notes that he jumped when a piece of paper landed on his desk. He looked over at Ace and unfolded the paper.

Who's the girl?

Hayner jotted down his reply, Lynx, and then sent it back to Ace.

Kinda hot, was the response he got.

What one girl not good enough for you?

No need to be rude. Just stating a fact, besides I thought you didn't want me going after Olette. Or is Lynx off limits too?

Actually im not sure. I don't think ive ever seen Lynx with anyone, let alone have a crush.

May have to fix that.

Hayner just rolled his eyes and went back to taking notes. He was not going to be a part of his cousin's plans. He had heard about how Ace was with girls. If things go somewhere with Lynx, he may warn her about it. After all it was the least he could do, what with everything Lynx had done for Hayner. Then it dawn on Hayner that Lynx seemed pretty friendly with Axel and he never got to ask about that. When the bell rang, Hayner ran to catch up to Lynx.

"Hey, I never got to ask. How do you know Axel?" Hayner asked.

"Hmm, oh simple he's my brother's best friend. He's like my brother and I'm glad to hear him and Roxas finally got together. I love him to death, but a girl can only listen to someone whine and mope about the 'love of their life hating them.' Although I'm still not done listening to it, my brother has been crushing on the same guy since 10th grade. I mean why would you not just tell them and get it over with? Why make yourself miserable?" Lynx rambled on and on.

Hayner just blinked, now he remembered why he never talked to Lynx for extended periods of time. They were nearing his next class, so he cut her off politely and went into the room. Luckily he had this class with Olette and he sat right next to her. He pulled out a blank piece of paper and wrote that he needed to talk on it. He placed it on her desk and waited for her to show up. She didn't get there until right as the bell rang, which was unusual for Olette. She looked at the paper and quickly wrote a response down, then tossed it to him.

What's up?

I had a dream last night; well it was more of a nightmare. I confessed to Seifer, and he rejected me with disgust. After he left I sent out several text messages, and let myself fall off the top the clock tower. Hayner tossed the note onto Olette's desk and waited for her reaction. He didn't have to wait long. Her head shot up and she looked at him in horror.

Ask to go to the bathroom, wait for me outside.

Hayner nodded, and then raised his hand. The teacher allowed him to leave and he quickly left the room. He went down the hall a ways and sat on the floor. He heard footsteps coming down the hall and looked up into Olette's worried eyes. She reached down and he allowed her to help him up. They walked in silence until they made it outside and were sitting on the stairs.

"Tell me exactly what happened." Olette said, breaking the silence,

"I was waiting for Seifer, and had been most the day. When he finally showed up he asked what I need to tell him, I told him that I didn't notice it till you and Rox pointed it out. Then I told him that I liked him and he thought I meant I didn't hate him. So I told him I loved him and watched his reaction. He went from an unreadable expression to disgust. He slammed me into the wall and asked if I was joking. When I said I wish I was he told me he never wanted to see or hear from me again. I was punched in the face and he left. I slid to the ground, and realized that I couldn't live with the mental, emotional, and physical pain I was going through. I sent you, Roxas, Pence, Ace and message telling you guys I loved you but I couldn't do this anymore. Then I sent Seifer a message telling him goodbye, that I was sorry and that he had always been my hero. After that I got up, walked to the edge of the clock tower, closed my eyes and just fell. I woke up to my alarm clock screaming at me." Hayner explained.

"Oh, Hayner." Olette pulled him into a hug.

Hayner sniffled; he didn't know why he felt like crying. Even after waking up he didn't want to cry, maybe it was the stress of knowing that, that could be an outcome. They sat out there for another five minutes, while Hayner tried to calm down. Once he was sure he was gonna be fine, they went back to class. No one questioned why they were gone so long, and Hayner didn't care if people wanted to believe something was going on between him and Olette. The rest of the day flew by way too quickly and it was time for everyone to head home. Lynx walked with them, talking to Olette about tomorrow night. Everyone agreed to go, only because Olette was scary when she wanted to be. Everyone split off to head off on their own. Roxas and Lynx walked off with Axel, Olette and Pence went off together, while Ace and Hayner started on their way home. Seifer showed up somewhere along the way, but Hayner could careless where he came from. All he wanted was to get home and forget all about today.
