Chapter Nine: Cocky

Do not own.

3rd POV

Misao relaxed into the couch, the soft cushion seemingly to suck her in. How had she gotten into this mess? She should have just went with them, and now that Rin knows, things won't be the same. I mean, he is some average demon that she sucked into her drama. Now he knows she is a noble. Will that change things between them?

She shot up. What if he wanted to serve her!? She hated servants. They always do so much to try to make you happy, but they don't give you any space. And Rin was her friend.

She put a finger to her chin, thinking. Rin doesn't seem like someone who would serve though.

But it comes back to the fact that she had met plenty of demons who seem like they wouldn't serve someone, then they meet you and BOOM.

Most of the time, it was because they knew if they get on her good side, they could get something in return. I mean, nobles are rich. In food, and whatever they please.

Like a child she groaned and kicked her legs out back and forth vigorously.

"I hate being a noble!" She cried out, angrily.

The door to the bathroom door slid open, and a wave of steam rolled out.

Suddenly, Rin was in the room, towel wrapped around his hips, his abs and chest showing.

Misao blushed.

"Oi. What's your problem?" He asked, crossing the room, his wet tail making a line on the floor.

"I..I, uh..." Her words were taken by the sight of Rin.

"Nevermind." He said, going into his room, and closing the door.

Misao let out a breath she had held for a while.

Suddenly, the front door to the apartment burst open, and Misao's nightmares came true.

Before she could think, three small darts shot out and landed right in her neck.

"Godamn..." She slurred before fainting in to the arms of Valen.

"Let's go, I smell another demon here. Quick!" He hissed out at his follower.

They exited the room in haste, and left the door swinging.

Rin exited his room, dressed in a navy blue tee and jeans.

He eyed the ajar door in distaste.

"They could've at least shut the door behind them!" He said angrily, pulling on his hoodie.

"Hey! Stop! Unhand me now!" Misao screamed, trying to pull free of Valens grip on the chains That bound her arms, tail and neck.

"I'm sorry, Misao. I never wanted this... It's what she told me to do." He said sorrowfully.

The neko gritted her teeth. "How can you say that, being you!? I mean, you used to be so rebellious! What happened that made you do everything she asked!?" Misao hissed out.

"She is very persuasive. If I did this, we can get married, and then we can slack off. She'll make it so we don't have to do work or anything."

"Wait..." Misao, said stopping.

"So she's going to control your clan as well!?" He hissed out.

"No, she'll just manage it!" Valen said.

"You are the most Idiotic... Self absorbed... Lazy... Uugh!" She screamed out, as the chains were pulled taunt by Lor, who hadn't stopped when she had. "Watch what you're doing!" She growled out, angrily.

"You maybe the daughter of a noble, but you do not control me." He said, triumphantly, with another tug on her chains. Misao gave Lor hateful, defiant eyes. "If Satan knew what you were doing...!"

"He wouldn't care. He has bigger things he's doing. How are you, by the way." A dominant female voice called out. Misao gave a hateful look at the demon, who was examining her well manicured nails. "Sarah," she spat, eyes narrow with hate. "Your good at getting everybody to do what you want, aren't you? Well, I just want you to know your not getting me to agree to anything!"

She gave a smile, her lips pursed out.

"What if I said we have a bargaining chip." She said.

Misao's eyes widened. "W-what? Who?"

Sarah's smile widened.

"Whoever that demon guy you were with was."

"R-Rin?" She stammered out.

"Why? He's just some random demon."

"Some random demon your friends with, Misao. You should have learned that friends hold you back, give you a weakness. Friendship was your downfall." Sarah said, as if scolding a child.

Misao looked down.

"I want to see him."

The woman smiled. "Sure, after your marriage."

"Before!"

Sarah's smile turned into a frown.

"No."

"Then I'm not getting married!"

Sarah looked at her watch. "Listen, sweetheart. Get married to Valen, and we won't kill him in front of you." She put her face right infront of Misao's. "You'd be responsible for his death, you don't want that. Marry Valen, he walks free. Don't, he dies.

Misao sighed. She had run for so long. So long. It had been a year I nothing but dodging the bullet, wishing to be done with it. Wishing to be free. She was tired. She was defeated. She knew Sarah would do it. She knew, if they had Rin, it was over.

"Fine." She said, softly.

"What was that?" Sarah said, putting a hand to her ear.

"Fine. I'm marry Valen."

Sarah smiled, pulling out a ball of keys.

"Good. Let's step into my office for the ceremony." She said, turning around an unlocking the door.

The lock turned with a click, and they stepped inside. When Sarah looked up, she dropped her ball of keys.

"Who the hell are you?" She said to her chair that was facing away from them.

It slowly spun around, showing a smiling blue haired demon, his posture relaxed.

With a flourish, he propped his feet up on Sarah's desk.

"My name is Rin," he said, his smile perfect over white, pointed teeth.

Rin POV

I think the part that made the vessel in her brain burst was when I put my feet on her desk.

It was a godamn neat desk too, everything in order.

Our eyes met, and I could see the OCD just swirling there. I moved my foot just slightly, and one of her pencil cups fell over.

I think I pissed her off.

"Get out of here!" She said, and I was pretty sure she had steam coming out of her ears.

I looked around the room, raising an eyebrow.

"Nah, your chair is comfy. I think I'll stay."

I removed my feet from her desk, an motioned to the seat across from me.

"Please, have a seat." I say, and again I think she was gonna blow a gasket.

"No way, since you're in my chair. Get out!"

I raised an eyebrow. "I wasn't talking to you," I said, pointing to Misao.

"Her,"

But I sighed when she tried to move and the chains rattled.

"You." I said pointing to the stout low level demon. "Un-chain her."

"Lor, if you dare do what this low level says I swear."

Misao seemed to look at Sarah in exasperation.

"I thought you said you captured Rin!"

I raised an eyebrow.

"We lied. We said we caught a bargaining chip. You said Rin. We agreed. Your an idiot." Lor said, yanking the chains.

"Yes but this doesn't change a thing. Now we can actually get a bargaining chip. I have no idea how you got into this room, but you are done. Your not leaving, and we will use you against Misao. I will get what I want." Sarah said, motioning to Lor, who handed the chains to Sarah.

"Take care of this dimwit who has no idea of what he got into the middle of." The female demon said angrily, and the other demon stepped forward, cracking his knuckles.

Rin sighed, and with a flick of his wrist, about half a dozen daggers materialized, and landed in the demons chest and around him, pinning him to the wall. blood slid passed his lips in a slow line, till it dripped off his chin.

"Let Misao out of those chains, please." I say again, this time my voice more serious.

Sarah, I think her name was, looked a bit more that surprised.

I sighed, standing up.

"Listen, you got the wrong idea about me. You just assume that i'm not a threat." I say, spotting a mini fridge behind her desk.

I open it, and slip out a cold soda. Using the middle finger of the hand holding the drink, I pop it open and take a long drink. Sighing, I plop back into her chair.

"By the way, you assumed wrong."

The air around be seemed to grow hot as I allowed just a tad more of my power to seep out. The window behind me seemed to groan as I stretched back in her chair.

If I wouldnt have know better, I would have thought see seemed so pissed se would spontaneously combust. I mean the hair on her head was literally flying up in anger, like static was holding them.

"Now, unchain Misao and let her sit, for Satan's sake." I said.

She didn't move.

I sighed.

"Fine," I said, pulling the ring from my finger. I set it on the desk, and the room grew so quiet that when I set it down you could hear the sound of the metal clanking.

"I guess were going to do this the fun way."

I allow a few seconds to pass before allowing my power to rise, and rise, and rise.

The lamps in the room shattered, and I replaced the lights with little flickering blue flames. As more of my power came out, I made sheer pressure of it press down on Sarah, until she was on her knees. Of course, I allowed Misao to keep standing. She was my friend after all.

I allowed blue flames to lick the chains binding Misao, melting them off and not burning the small neko. I mean, I wasn't gonna let them burn her.

"Have a seat, Misao. We can have a Little chat now." I said, once again propping my feet up on the desk.

"Who. Are. You...?" she said, her words pointed, and exasperated at the same time.

"Rin Okumura, Son of Satan. New King of Assiah. A title not many seem to realize exists, it seems." I say sadly.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She said, her voice soft, almost betrayed.

"What can I say, I was going to kill you, but you were fun." I was telling the truth, but I guess that is kinda harsh.

"Who the hell said you can play with me?"

"I did. Know why? I'm a king. I can do whatever the hell I want. Usually. I mean that is what he said."

"Who?" She queried, though I'm sure she knew the answer.

"Satan, duh. Though, I'm still waiting for him to tell everyone about the new king. No one takes you seriously when they don't know who you are. YOu are a prime example."

"But-"

"Listen, Misao." I said, standing up. "I'm helping you, okay? I freed you from those chains. I mean, I have Sarah and this other guy here pinned down with my power. I could let her up allow her to marry you two. I could actually care less about this little family feud thing, only, I need allies, and you're the closest thing I got."

Misao looked miffed. "So I'm being used?"

"No. Listen, I kept you around cause I liked you. It was only until a little while ago I started to use you. Trust me, I could've killed you long ago. I mean, don't think I don't care about you. I mean, I went back to friggin' school. I already quit that, twice!" I paused. "Don't ask for that back story."

Slowly, she looked up and bet my blue orb, and slowly, she sat down.

"W-what do you want me to do?" She said, voice a bit shaky.

I smiled, and pulled my ring back on, allowing the pressure on the other two demons to pull back, and allow them up. "Stand up, you two," I said firmly, as a disheveled Valen and Sarah managed to make it to their feet.

"Misao here is going to lead her family, like she was ment to, and your going to do every little thing she tells you."

"But-" Sarah speaks up, but I hold up a finger. "just assume every order she gives you comes from me. Just assume she will tell me every little act of defiance you give her. Assume I will be there to punish you. With hellfire." I let the little fires flare up tp make a point, then I pick up the can of soda, finish it, crush the can, and drop it at Sarah's feet.

"Good day."

A flare of blue fire, and I left.

Back in Assiah, I took another gulp of fresh Air. I was so done with all this Drama. just wanted to kick back and read some damn manga.

Then I got hit by a furball.

"Rin! Riiiin! RIIIINN!"

There was a sobbing Cat Sith on me.

"K-Kuro?" I said, a bit Shaken up. "Is that really you?" I said Happily.

This Cat Sith was pretty much the one thing I missed most about my old life.

"They said you were dead! Your not! I'm so Glad you're not!"

"They?"

"Yukio and the others. They had me locked up, but they let me go so I could find you! I did! You got so powerful! I'm so happy!"

I ran my hand over the fur ball.

"I really..." I was going to say 'I really missed you.' but It was then I felt Yukio behind me.

"Brother," I said, without turning around. Kuro had fallen silent.

"I'm not alone, you know," He said.

My smile widened. They were smart, using Kuro to get to me. "It was a mistake." I said, turning around to face my Brother, and all of my old friends.

My smile was cocky. Very cocky. So very cocky.

Kuro slowly climbed up to my shoulder, a look of concern on his face.

"I-I'm sorry, Rin- I ... I didn't know."

'Shhhh...' I told him back in my mind.

"I'm guessing you came here to kill me. hmm? I'd like to see you try. I'm much more than the Rin you used to know."

I allowed a circle of blue fire to surround my feet, and my smile was still very cocky."

So That ties up the Misao Story line some. It was kinda filler, but I have plans to make it shape the over all picture. Sorry it's kinda short.
