*Checks pulse* Hey I'm still alive everybody! I'm sorry that I haven't updated in a while but I had a case of slight writers block last week and some of this one. But literally I listened to Vuelie from the Frozen soundtrack and five minutes later I started writing again! Just goes to show you the power of music! Anyway, I wanted to update a while ago but late is better than never right?
College starts up for me tomorrow, but I'll still try to update often...
To answer a question by Antex-The Legendary Zoroark: There is a reason that the Pokédex acted up and it will be explained in a couple of chapters (around 3 or 4 depending).
On a side note, I edited the previous chapter names to give myself a little more flexibility for the names. They only fit so many characters and I don't want to waste them by putting [Chapter #:] in front of them. Other than that, no real changes.
Now on with the story!

The four of them stared off where Fredric walked off the field for a moment before Cynthia broke the moment. She shifted and then said, "Come on, we still have to hit Serein's before we stop by the Research Center." Cynthia made a movement to go, but stopped when she saw the look on Elsa and Emily's faces. What's got them concerned? It was just a battle and although Fredric did apologize, it's not that surprising.
"Is something wrong?" She asked.
Emily snapped out of her stupor first with a little shake of the head. "What? No, no, nothing is wrong."
Why is she nervous? "Then what's the problem?"
"No problem, just wondering where Harold ran off to." Emily said, slightly dodging the question.
"Uh-huh." Cynthia said, not believing that that was the real issue. As tempting as it is to get to the bottom of this, I don't think now is the time to do so. Maybe at the Research Center I can talk to Emily while Grandmother has Elsa. All these secrets are starting to get to me as well.
"Well then, we can talk about it later. We still have two more places to go to before we head home." Cynthia said.
"Where? Oh wait, I remember now." Emily said rolling her eyes at herself. She paused when she looked at Elsa though. "Hey Elsa," she said timidly, "ready to go?"
Elsa turned to look at Emily, then looked at Cynthia, and then nodded abruptly. "Yes, I suppose that we should." She said, clipped.
Cynthia frowned. What is going on with these two? What do they know that I don't? Without saying anything, Cynthia walked off the field and made her way to the entrance of Serein's. Three sets of footfalls told Cynthia that Emily, Elsa, and Aren were following her, although they were walking at differing speeds.
Cynthia was the first one inside the building. It was nothing really spectacular, however it was unique. The owner of the shop, Serein Yan, had remodeled his house so that it was a modified store. Originally, Celestic Town only had a Pokémon Center and no place where trainers could get any Pokémon supplies and medicine. One day, Serein finally got tired of waiting for a Poké Mart to open so he made his own shop. Importing several dozen crates of medicine and supplies, he opened a small shop in his living room. Eventually he gained enough money to remodel the house and build an expanded ground floor so he could hold most of the stuff he got and could sell it better. He became quite the entrepreneur, actually getting a mention in the Sinnoh Business magazine.
Cynthia opened the door and a bell rang. There was a man behind a counter reading a book. He was in his late thirties, early forties, with steel colored hair; all natural color, not from age yet. He was just starting to get into the slightly chubby category but was still relatively fit. He had glasses on and as he looked up you could see his eyes were a green shade.
He smiled, "Well hello Cynthia. How are you doing today?" He greeted her.
Cynthia returned the smile. "Very good Serein, thank you. How's business?"
"Oh, same old, same old. Ups and downs, just like Pokémon training." He admitted.
"I understand." Cynthia said, but then stopped and stepped forward slightly as Emily, Elsa, and Aren came in with Elsa holding the door open for Aren. Emily still seemed a bit off from her normal attitude, and Elsa, well, she seemed to have gone cold. I really need to find out what's going on.
"Oh, hello Emily," Serein said, "nice to see you again."
"Huh? Oh, hi Serein, same too you." Emily said, her bubbly persona starting to come back.
Serein leaned backwards in his chair to look at Elsa. "And who's this lovely young lady you've brought?"
"This is Elsa and she's new to Pokémon battling. We were thinking of getting supplies for her and myself before I headed out." Cynthia said.
Serein nodded. "Ahh, that's right, going to become the youngest Regional Champion are you?"
Cynthia had the decency to act sheepish at that. "That's the plan." She said, smirking a bit.
Serein closed his book and stood up. "Well then, in that case, help yourself to anything here." He turned to face Elsa better. "So you're a new trainer, ehh?"
Elsa nodded slowly, "I guess I am." She said somewhat abruptly.
Serein's smile broadened a bit, "Ahh, a bit unsure of yourself huh? Let me guess, you challenged Cynthia for your first battle right? I could imagine how that turned out."
Cynthia shook her head, "No she didn't. She actually had her first battle a few minutes ago just in the field out back."
Serein snapped his fingers suddenly. "So that's what all that noise I heard was all about! So she had her first battle huh? Who was it against?"
"Fredric."
Serein's eyes shot up. "Fredric? The kid that's always going on about fire types? How'd she do?" He inquired.
Emily poked her head up from behind a storage case and said. "She won."
"Ha-ha!" Serein exclaimed loudly, causing Elsa to flinch slightly. "About time somebody knocked him down a few pegs!" He turned to Elsa, "So how did you beat him? What Pokémon did you use?"
Elsa shed back a bit but replied, "I used Aren, my Glaceon."
"An Ice type? Even better!" He went over to the counter and said, "So, you're a rookie trainer then Elsa?" When she nodded, he continued, "Well then, for wining your first battle, knocking Fredric down a bit, and for making my day, you all get 50 percent off anything you buy today!"
Whoa, that's too generous, Cynthia thought. "You don't have to do that Serein, we'll pay for the supplies-"
"At a discount. Because I feel like it. Don't talk me out of it." Serein smirked and Cynthia relented. "Now get to shopping! If you need any help, just ask." He said and went behind the counter, picking up his book and proceeded to read it.
Cynthia smiled at the man. Cynthia had known him for quite some time ever since he and her sister moved to Celestic Town. He was always the one that she would buy medicine and Pokémon supplies from so they had developed a sort of friendship. He always cheered for her when she was competing in the leagues and when she returned always gave her one of the most expensive items in his shop as a reward.
Breaking out of her thoughts, Cynthia looked around the shop. I already have most of what I need because I was prepared two days ago, but a little more can't hurt. Just so long as I don't get too much. She wandered around the shelves and decided to get eight Ultra Balls, four Dusk Balls, four Revives, ten Full Heals and 6 Full Restores.
She noticed Elsa wandering around aimlessly, not really knowing what to get if anything. Emily had gone off somewhere but they could still hear her somewhere. Cynthia walked over to Elsa. "Here, I'll explain what these do." Elsa gave a small grateful smile. Cynthia picked up a can and said, "This is a Repel, and they come in three different strengths: normal, super and max. They are supposed to repel Pokémon when you are traveling, such as when you're tired or your own Pokémon are. It's odorless to us and the Pokémon you're traveling with, but it smells terrible to wild Pokémon."
Aren from the floor 'spoke' up. "Glaceon eee."
Cynthia looked to Elsa for translation. "Yes it does." Elsa said for Aren.
Cynthia gave a short smile before moving on to the next shelf. "These are different varieties of Potions. These help heal Pokémon wounds they get from battling. Once again, they vary in strength." She pointed out the four types of potions before pausing at the next one. "This is a Full Restore." She said, pulling it down from the shelf. "This heals all wounds and status conditions."
"Status conditions?" Elsa questioned, sounding more like herself now that her mind was off… whatever it was on to begin with.
Cynthia opened her mouth to explain, but then said, "I think it would be better to show you." She led them to yet other shelf. "These are the different heals they have. Status conditions can occur during battles, and they are a wide variety of issues. This is an Antidote used to cure a poisoned Pokémon. This one wakes one up that's fallen asleep. This Paralyze heal cures when a Pokémon becomes paralyzed, usually when fighting an electric type."
Cynthia gave a little smirk when she picked up a light pink bottle. "This one is an Ice Heal for when a Pokémon is Frozen, but I highly doubt that you'll need it."
Elsa had to give a small laugh at that. "Yea, I don't think so either."
Cynthia became a little more serious though when she held a green bottle. "However, this is a Burn Heal for when a Pokémon gets burned, and obviously Ice type Pokémon are more susceptible to burns than most. It would be a good idea to get a couple of them."
Elsa retreated again but still spoke, "I'll keep that in mind." Cynthia was about to move on, but she heard Elsa mutter something along the lines of, "I don't think I need it…"
Okay, what's going on? This is starting to get to me even though I said I wouldn't pry. "What did you say?" Cynthia tried to keep some of the frustration out of her voice when she said that.
Elsa's eyes popped up and Cynthia caught a glimpse of some unknown emotion in them and she replied quickly, "I said 'I'll probably need that'-." She cut off suddenly as if she was about to say something else but caught herself. She looked away ashamedly.
Cynthia glared at her for a moment. I really want to say something about this right now, but I don't think it is the right time or place and it'll probably cause a scene, which I don't want. And then there was that flash of… something in her eyes. It was disconcerting to see that. She shook her head and ignored what just happened.
"Anyway… this last one is a Full Heal." Cynthia pointed to a completely golden can. "It heals any status condition, so it's pretty useful." Elsa simply nodded, having gone back inside herself again.
I have to make it a point to ignore it because otherwise I'm going to burst, Cynthia thought. She moved on with Elsa following. The next case held some familiar looking items. "These are obviously Poké Balls. These three are regular ones, Great Balls that are a little better at catching Pokémon, and Ultra Balls that are even better. It's always a good idea to carry a multitude of them with you if you see a Pokémon you want to catch.
"So that's basically everything. What do you want to get?" Cynthia asked.
"I think that you should choose since you know more about everything." Elsa said softly.
Cynthia's eye twitched from how meekly Elsa was behaving, but she nodded and moved around, grabbing basically a repeat of what she got except getting 6 Poké Balls, 5 Great Balls, and 4 Ultra Balls. "I think this'll be enough for the moment." She said somewhat to herself, considering the two bags she was now holding. "Emily, you ready?" She said loudly to get her sister's attention.
"Almost." Came her sister's reply. "Hey Elsa? What do you prefer: backpacks, or purses?" Emily said.
Elsa frowned, "Uhh, I guess backpacks?"
"Good, because it's the only type here." Cynthia chuckled at Emily's response. Emily reappeared holding a light blue backpack and a couple pieces of paper that had a red and blue stripe on them.
Cynthia looked quizzically at Emily. "Air Mail? What for?"
Emily's mood fell as did her gaze. "For our parents." She said.
Cynthia's face hardened, but she nodded and motioned for Emily to put them into the bag, which she did.
Emily then went up to Elsa and handed her the backpack. "Here you go!" Cynthia looked at the backpack. It was a light blue with white linings and it had a snowflake pattern on it. "I saw this an immediately thought this would be perfect for you."
"Oh, thank you." Elsa said.
"Don't mention it!"
They went up to Serein. "Ah, ready?" He asked. Cynthia nodded and Serein began counting up the total, then divided it by half like he said he would. Cynthia knew that it would be pointless to argue when he was in this kind of mood, so she accepted his generosity. Although, she needed to use credit card since her pocket money was all but gone due to their first stop. However it wasn't much of a deal since she had plenty of Poké Dollars saved up from all the battles and tournaments she had been in.
"Here, let me help you with those." Serein said and grabbed both bags. "Your car is outside I presume?" He asked.
"That's correct." Cynthia said.
Serein gave Emily and Elsa a pitying look. "She drove? I feel sorry for you."
Cynthia half-seriously glared at him while Emily, Aren and even Elsa chuckled. "Don't worry, she paid for it earlier." Emily said, earning yet another glare from Cynthia. Serein just gave a laugh and walked out the door while Cynthia fished out her keys.
"I hope you have a good journey Cynthia." Serein said.
"Thank you." Cynthia said.
Serein then turned to Elsa and Emily and said, "And good luck with whatever endeavor you choose to take." Emily and Cynthia said their final goodbyes and they all got in the car again.
"So, to the Research Center?" Emily asked.
Cynthia nodded as she started the car. "Yes. Elsa," she said, getting the woman's attention, "we promised that we would try to help you get back to your world and the best place to do that is right here."
Elsa remained silent for a moment and said, "I want to thank you for everything you've done for me. It's too much and hopefully there is some way I can repay you."
"Oh don't worry about it!" Emily said, "After all, you deserve to have some people helping you after all you've-" she cut off suddenly then started with barely any pause, "been through, being separated from your world and your sister."
Cynthia looked in the rear-view mirror at Emily in the backseat next to Elsa and saw her biting her lip in the way Cynthia knew that she had almost said something not meant to be said. That does it, as soon as we're at the Research Center I'm going to corner Emily and get her to tell me what's going on, Cynthia vowed, just now breaking her old one of not prying.
The rest of the drive was silent except for the shifting of bodies in their seats. It wasn't tense per-se but it definitely put a damper on things. Something was about to happen and on a subconscious level, they all knew it.
Five minutes later they arrived at the Research Center. Cynthia's driving had gotten a lot better, but there was still a close call or two (according to Elsa and Emily later), but nothing like before. They all piled out and made their way to the front door. Carolina was waiting for them when they entered. "Good of you to join us," she said, "I think that we shouldn't delay anymore, I'm sure you want to get back to your home right?" She said to Elsa.
"Yes, I do." Elsa replied firmly, back into her old self again now that she was in front of other people.
"Very well then, allons-y."*2 Carolina said and started walking further into the lab.
Elsa seemed to take an interest in what Carolina said. "Donc, vous parlez français?" She said, using a language that wasn't familiar to Emily or Cynthia. *3
"Pardon?" Carolina said.
"Excuse me, I thought that you spoke French. I guess not." Elsa said a little embarrassed.
"Well, I don't know about French, but the little thing I said was Kalosian (Note.1) from Kalos, one of the many regions here."
Elsa nodded, but then Aren had something to say. "Glaceon glay."
Elsa stopped and looked at him, "Really? What did I say?"
"Glay ceon glay Glaceon!" Aren said confidently.
Elsa's eyebrows shot up, "That's interesting."
"What is it?" Emily asked.
"Aren just said that he understood me when I was speaking my world's French." Elsa said. "I've been using English all the time here."
"That is interesting." Carolina said. "Even though you're speaking in a different language, Glaceon-excuse me, Aren, seems to understand you like you can understand him."
"Apparently." Elsa said.
"Is English your first language?" Cynthia questioned.
Elsa shrugged, "Close, it was the second and I am as fluent in it as my native language."
"How many languages do you know?" Cynthia asked.
Elsa smiled, "Eight, although three of them I'm not exactly good at, just enough for me to get by if I ever receive guests or go to those countries."
"Wow, that's a lot." Emily said in slight awe.
"It's the price of being a queen, you need to interact with dignitaries and ambassadors all the time otherwise translators can slow things down, among other things."
Carolina seemed intrigued, "Excuse my inner scientist, but could you say something in your native language?"
Elsa paused for a moment, then said, "Jeg snakker norsk akkurat nå, er dette nok?"*4 Aren started snickering and Elsa continued, "Jeg antar at du forsto det også?" *5
"Glaceon." Aren said.
"Apparently Aren understands Norwegian now." Elsa said, a small smile appearing on her face.
Cynthia nodded in sudden understanding. Ah, that's why she started from Norway when she was asking where she was. Now I understand why: that's her home country.
"Intriguing." Carolina mused, "Forgive me, but when confronted with a mystery I like to solve them. However once we get you back to your own world I guess I'll have to live with those mysteries." She finished with a laugh. Elsa gave her own nervous chuckle. "Oh come now Elsa, it's not like I'm going to keep you here. Come on; let's go in the back. I have some equipment set up already."
Carolina started leading the way, but stopped when she realized that Elsa wasn't following. Elsa was staring at two pictures on the wall on either side of the hallway. They were different shades of grey, no colors, but were extremely detailed. "What is it?" Carolina asked Elsa.
"I've seen these two before. They were there when I got pulled through the portal and it looked like they were fighting."
Everybody's eyes grew wide at this. "Wait you actually saw them?" Cynthia said.
"Yes I did and it was terrifying." Elsa admitted.
"Amazing." Carolina said.
"What? What is it?" Elsa asked.
Cynthia stepped into the conversation, "Those two creatures are Pokémon, Dialga and Palkia, and they are rumored to be the rulers of time and space respectively."
"Rulers of time and space?" Elsa said questioningly.
"Yes, in ancient legends, it is said that time began moving when Dialga was born and flows when its heart beats. And Palkia created space and with every breath it takes it becomes more stable. They are Legendary Pokémon and considered deities in the Sinnoh region."
Elsa frowned slightly and pondered what she had just learned. "I find it hard to believe that they can control space and time. They shouldn't be able to have those abilities."
Carolina gave Elsa a small smile. "Well that's the thing. They are Legendary Pokémon. They have their abilities because they are able to control them. Likewise we humans do not have those abilities for the same reason: we could never control those powers. It would be like one of us having the abilities of a Pokémon, like you having the powers of Aren here for instance." She said pointing to the Ice type Pokémon.
Elsa opened her mouth, then closed it and flushed, while Emily looked away and shuffled her feet. Aren did a close approximation of a human whistle. Cynthia's eye twitched again at these reactions.
"Y-yes, well, that may be, but time and space?" Elsa said.
"Believe it or not, that's what was passed down. Of course it's been thousands of years since there was any evidence of the two. Of course we have one of the best pieces of evidence right here in-"
Emily coughed loudly. "Elsa really doesn't need to know that Grandmother."
"Ah, well, forgive me for bragging about my research center." She said with a smile. "Come now, we've waited long enough." Carolina started moving again and Elsa followed.
It's now or never, Cynthia thought. Just as Emily passed her, Cynthia reached out and grabbed her shirt, holding her back. She called out, "We'll be with you in a moment." She held Emily until the other two disappeared then let her go. "We need to talk." Cynthia said.
"Talk? Talk about what?" Emily said, genuinely confused. Either that or just playing dumb.
"I think you know. Elsa. What happened back there in the field that shook both of you up so much?" Cynthia questioned.
"Oh, uhh… nothing?" Emily said, knowing that it wouldn't work.
"Emily…" Cynthia growled out.
Emily backed up a step and held up her hands. "Look Cynthia, nothing important happened back there. It was just a momentary thing okay?"
"Apparently it's not nothing since you're getting worked up about it." Cynthia accused. "What's going on between you two?"
"It's not my place to say…"
"Well would you rather have me interrogate Elsa or do you want to tell me?"
"Please, don't ask Elsa. She'll tell you when she's ready." Emily said, then stopped, realizing the implications of what she just said.
"So she's told you then?" Cynthia questioned.
"Well, more like I was eavesdropping on her last night." Emily admitted sheepishly.
"Emily…" Cynthia sighed, momentarily forgetting her previous frustration for her new one.
"I said I was sorry after!"
"Literally, just after I said to drop it."
"I was walking up the stairs and I heard her talking to Aren. What would you have done?" Emily shot.
"I would have ignored her and gone to my room." Cynthia said.
Emily just shook her head sadly. "Not if you heard the way she was talking."
"What do you mean?" Cynthia asked, her frustration starting to fade.
Emily paused considering. "She sounded… sad. Like a dead kind of sad. I was concerned because it didn't sound like the Elsa we knew. I… heard some things."
"What things?" Cynthia asked gently concerned as well seeing her sister so down. What she heard must really have been terrible.
Emily blinked and her mouth opened and closed a few times. "I promised I wouldn't say anything until she was ready."
"Why? If she told you, then she could tell me."
Emily shook her head. "She wasn't ready when she told me. She caught me hearing from behind the door and freaked out. It was scary."
"Why?"
Emily paused again. "She closed herself off and was… almost acting like two different people, one like her confidant self, and the other was a scared child."
"She has schizophrenia?" Cynthia asked gently.
Emily shook her head. "More like a split personality, but not as extreme as you'd think. Although it was extreme to her."
"Why did she go off like that?"
Once again, Emily paused and thought about an answer. "I'll say this but it'll be better if she told you herself. It will make much more sense to see it yourself."
"What, see her split personality?" Cynthia said, slightly shocked that her sister would want her to see that.
"What? No, no no no no no, not that! I mean, uhh, well, you just have to believe me when I say it will make sense."
Cynthia considered her words. "I guess I have to because you're not telling me anything."
"I'm sorry, I really am, but she wants to tell you eventually. You'll just have to wait. Trust me, it'll go a lot better than when I found out." She gave a rueful laugh.
Cynthia sighed. "Can you tell me anything? What was it that you said, sisters tell each other everything?"
"Don't throw my words back at me… But yes I can. It's really personal and hits closer to home that I would like to admit." Emily took a breath. "You know how she is a queen right?"
"Yes, for the last six months according to her."
"She started training to become queen when she was eight. Her parents practically shut her away so she could study and forbid her from seeing her sister again."
Cynthia was shocked. "Why would they do that?"
Emily shrugged. "They wanted her to become queen without distractions I guess. I don't really know what happened in the interim, but I think Elsa's parents put her through some mental abuse, which made her scared of seeing her sister, even though that was the only thing she wanted to do. This went on until Elsa became queen." Emily finished softly.
Wait, until Elsa became queen? She said she was 21 and her coronation was six months ago. She started training when she was eight… "You mean she didn't see her sister for thirteen years?!" Cynthia exclaimed with shock. Emily nodded silently, and Cynthia ran her hand through her hair thinking. Thirteen years… of not seeing her sister… of being tutored constantly by her parents. And what Emily said about mental abuse… that must be why Elsa reacted like she did at Serein's when I asked her what she said. Having to respond to her parents probably caused that response.
"And do you know what the worst part was?" Emily said at last.
"What?" Cynthia asked hesitantly.
"During all those years, her sister wanted her to come out of her room and play with her."
Cynthia's heart broke at that. "Oh my god… I… I…" No words came out.
Emily locked eyes with her. "Please don't tell her I told you. Let her come to you first and let her talk. She needs to be ready. I can't tell her story with any sort of justice."
Cynthia was silent for a moment, and then she said, "I'm sorry I snapped at you. I understand why Elsa wanted this to be a secret. It does hit pretty close to home." There was a pause. "I'm glad I have you as a sister."
"And I'm glad I'm here for you." Emily said and the two embraced in a hug.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I feel terrible, Emily thought. I'm telling one giant lie to my sister. Elsa's parents really didn't abuse her or make her study the entire time. She stayed in her room because of her powers. What's worse: a half-lie to tell my sister, or a half-truth to make it believable? I only hope Cynthia doesn't hate me too much when Elsa finally tells her the whole truth…

Elsa followed Carolina through the halls of the research center. Some of the stuff that she saw through the doors was so out of her world that she didn't even know where to begin. Is this what research will look like in the future? She wondered.
"What exactly is this place?" Elsa asked.
"This is the Celestic Town Historical Research Center. It was established to study all sorts of Sinnoh mythology and archeology and was specifically built here because of the ruins in the back, where the Lustrous Orb was discovered."
"Lustrous Orb?" Elsa questioned.
"Oh, well we really don't have much information about the actual orb itself, but it's been believed that it has a direct connection to Palkia, the Legendary Pokémon I talked about earlier. Maybe you'd like to see it later before we leave?" She asked.
"Maybe." Elsa said, "Right now I'd like to know what you are planning to do about my… situation." That's a fine way to put it, situation. What else would I say? Predicament? Problem? Separation?
"Well…" Carolina said as they stopped in front of a door. She opened it and Elsa was confronted with a huge machine. Blinking lights and screens were everywhere and confused Elsa even more. This is way beyond my comprehension. I'm pretty sure that other people don't understand it either except for these people here that work on it. "I think this could help." Carolina finished.
"Woah." Aren said in amazement, and then ran inside to check out the stuff.
"How…" Elsa trailed off in awe of the sight in front of her.
"Here, let me show you." They went further into the room. "I have a theory on how to send you back. You said that you came from a portal?" Elsa nodded and Carolina continued on, "Well what if we could find the portal and reopen it?"
"How would you do that?" Elsa asked.
"Think of it this way, oh, may I have a piece of your clothing? (AN: Elsa is still wearing her travel garments from Arendelle) I need it for something."
Elsa agreed and Carolina took a pair of scissors and cut a tiny bit off Elsa's sleeve cuff. "Your world and this one are being held together in place by some unseen force, which I'll say as the fabric of the universe. Your world is on one side of the fabric, and this one is on the other." Carolina said as she flipped the cloth over, demonstrating. "And this portal caused a hole which let you come over to this side, a hole that might still be there like scar tissue, not completely sealed up yet. If something had enough power to cause a hole between worlds, it must have been enormous and it shouldn't heal quickly. Since it was just yesterday, it could still be there."
Elsa nodded with understanding. "If there is this scar tissue from the portal, then that must be where I can get back. But why do you need that piece?" She questioned Carolina as she held the fabric.
"That's simple. If my understanding of quantum mechanics is correct, then your world is an alternate form of our world, one without Pokémon. And I think that each world has a different signature to it. We could scan for a tear in space and time, but it might not be the right one, or it could be too old, or it could send you to another world entirely. When dealing with these kinds of things, you need all the information you can get."
Elsa thought about it. "And since my clothing is from my world, it should have this 'signature' on it, correct?"
"Correct," Carolina said with a smile, "and with it, I can use its signature to make this machine scan for signatures of the same type. If there is a portal, it should be emitting the same signature." She walked over to a part of the machine and put the piece of cloth on a little slide and then put it in the machine. She then went over to the monitor and pressed some controls.
At this point Elsa was lost, having no idea what was happening. Lights that turn on at the flick of a switch, I can handle. Machines that can make food hot, also no problem. Cars… yes? Mostly. But this is something I can probably ever understand.
Then a sudden thought struck her. What she doesn't find anything? What if she doesn't find the portal? What other way would I be able to get back, because I don't have a clue? I'll have to stay here not understanding this world, how it works, what is in it. I'll never go back to Arendelle. I'll never see Anna again…
Please find something.
The machine made a sound like it was starting up and an image of the cloth appeared on the screen. "Alright, commencing scan now." Carolina said. A white bar appeared on the screen and slowly made its way down, finishing at the bottom. "Now downloading the data and transferring it to the subatomic level. Now extrapolating the signature. And scanning." She said finally as the machine started humming louder again.
Aren came over to Elsa and rubbed her leg. "Hey, let's hope this works." Aren said.
"I hope so too." Elsa admitted.
They watched the lights blink some more and streams of words and numbers flew across the screen. Carolina's eyes were rapidly looking back and forth on the data. She was silent for several moments after the machine stopped making noises.
She pressed a few buttons and started reading the screen at a slower pace, reviewing it.
"No, that can't be right." She muttered and then pressed another button, making the machine start humming again with action. The same process repeated again, with the machine scanning the cloth, then moving the data over, then scanning the region or the whole world for all Elsa knew.
All the while, Elsa's chest felt like it was about to burst.
The machine finished again and fell silent with Carolina checking the results again. It was completely silent. Carolina checked the data again, and again.
Suddenly she sighed and looked away from the monitor. "I'm sorry." She said.
At that moment all of Elsa's fears came crashing down on her. She didn't hear what Carolina was saying, nor did she really care.
I'm never going to go back to Arendelle.
I'm never going to see Anna again.
A coldness settled inside the lab, dropping the temperature rapidly. Little pieces of frost started crawling upon the floor. And a cold wind started to blow.

*4: I am speaking Norwegian right now, is that enough? (Norwegian)
*5: I assume you understood that too? (Norwegian)
I'm not going to make it a habit where they (Elsa) are speaking different languages because of the terrible translations google gives. If anyone knows a better translation web sight, please tell me! I'll need it for other stories I'm writing.
Also, I know that Elsa was using English when she first came through. Deal with it. Just like how Oaken is the only one with a real accent in Frozen. (Yoo-hoo, big summer blowout!)
My reasoning is that English was, or quickly was becoming, the language that everyone needed to speak (sorta like how it is right now), so Elsa knows English just as well as her Norwegian.
The full list of the languages Elsa knows are: Norwegian, English, Swedish, German, French, and a little of Spanish, Italian, and Russian.
Note.1: Kalos is based off of France, and many of the people in Kalos use 'French'. I don't know what they call it in the Pokémon world, but I'll call it Kalosian.

Ha-ha, evil cliffhanger!
So there you have it, Chapter 9! What did you think? Feel sorry for Elsa at all? Or how about Cynthia? Everybody seems to know (or is about to know) Elsa's entire secret except her, so how will it affect their friendship? And what will Elsa do now?
Sorry if the technobabble is incorrect but I don't care.
Just a notice but I am still open to what Pokémon Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff should have. I have some that I am going to make them have, but I'll always be open to suggestions. Who knows, I might surprise you with their picks.
This took WAY longer than it should have, honestly expected it to be out last week, but oh well, that's life. Stay tuned for the next chapter 10: What am I going to do?
