Chapter nine
The land of shadows
It took me about a year to find the land of shadows. Saku had wrote me a letter about 20 years ago that she was here. The land of shadows weren't that big but was very hard to find if you didn't know what you were looking for. I did, although I didn't know where in the land of shadows she was. I had walked for about a week when I found a big orchard. It was one of the scariest things I had ever seen. The trees pulsated and moved like they were breathing. They all had an unnatural while paleness to them, like skin that never saw daylight. Walking up to one I laid my hand upon its trunk and felt a heart beat. I quickly removed my hand and looked up at the trees branches. The branches had fruit hanging from it that where a deep red. I could smell the blood that was in them from the ground. "The hell?"
"Blood fruit." I turned quickly around and saw Saku standing by a tree behind me. "They are blood fruit. Be careful picking them. It does hurt them when you pull to hard." I watch as she grabs a low hanging fruit and twists it a little. The fruit comes off the branch easily and she turns to me. "Wanna try?"
Her hair had grown since I had last seen her, it was far down her back now. She was dressed in a simple dark aqua colored dress that touched her ankles. I walk over to her and take the fruit from her. I turn it around in my hand a few times. It looked like an orange. I pulled it apart and looked at the insides. It looked like a normal orange except it had blood in the pulps instead orange juice. I put one in my mouth and look at her surprised. She smiles at me as I eat another one. "How?"
She shrugs and motions for me to fallow her. We walk through the trees as she tells me about how she found a few books that were written by old vampires who were tired of drinking from humans. She had played around with their ideas and made her own idea in to reality. When we reached her house I saw that it had vines all over it almost camouflaging it. We went in side and that's when I noticed that it wasn't really a house but a tree that was big as a house. Saku had carved out a house from it but some how had healed the tree so it would still live. "Now." She said as we sat down on some chairs. "Why have you come to seek me after so many years?"
I sigh as I look down at my hands. "I fell in love."
She tilted her head to the side. "And? Aren't you happy?"
My hands move into fits as my eyes start to glow black again. "I am going to kill him Saku. I just need to get stronger." I look at her and she studies my face.
"The glow of a broken soul.." She stands up and walks over to a table and picks up a book. She flips though the pages as she sits back down. "The glow of a broken soul, After a vampires mate is killed the said vampire will travel the world never finding happiness until said vampire finds his soul mate again. Garma you must find her again to fix your soul."
I close my eyes and shake my head as I sigh. When I look at her again my eyes are normal. "A broken soul, more like a broken everything. You know for the first time in over a hundred years I felt my heart move. "
"Extremely painful huh?" I nod my head. "Look it may take another hundred years before you ever find her again. Being reincarnated is the most difficult thing to track. She won't remember you..."
I feel tears running down my cheeks as I fist my hands again. For a while I had hoped that Saku would tell me that she would remember me when I found her. But I had known deep down that I was wrong. She wouldn't know who I was and I was going to have to start all over! "I'm going to kill him! I won't keep doing this over and over again!"
Saku waved her hand at me to calm down before I broke something. "Look he will be there every time you find her. But there is a way that she will remember more quickly. I've been reading about gem stones lately and there might be one to restore memories from past lives. I will go out tomorrow night and find the gem. Just come back to me when you find her ok?" I nod. "Good. Now tell me, what all did Sasori tell you?"
I shrug. "He was more fascinated that my eyes were glowing black. He said his never did. He killed her just so I would know why he put the rules out there and what it felt like when deisuka died."
Saku thought for a moment. "I remember back when I was little deisuka looked at Sasori with love. He always told us that humans killed her but what if he himself killed her?"
"Or he just found her dead." Saku looks at me. "He could have smelled the humans on her but just found her after they had killed her." I shake my head. "There are so many "ifs" but not enough answers. And I'm not volunteering to ask him."
Saku nods her head. She claps her hands as she stands up. "Ook enough about Sasori you need to train. I have a few books on vampire abilities that you can study and you can train in the orchard. Just don't kill my trees. Got it?" I nod. "Good. Now there is no sun here in the land of shadows hints the name, so you can sleep when ever and go out at anytime." She turned and walked to the stairs."you can use any room except mine, cause it's mine and I like my bed."
I stand up and look at her. "Thank you for helping me."
She shrugs as she throws a book at me. "Your my brother, and when the time comes your soul mate will be my sister." She smiles as I catch the book with ease. "Just be careful. I will very mad if you die."
I look up from the book to see her glaring at me. "I don't plan on dying, but if I do please watch her." Saku waves her hand at me as she walks up the stairs.
I smiled at my self. I knew she would protect her. I just had to find her, and until then I will train.
~Oo~
And that is what I did. I trained for over 30years while I waited. I jumped and moved through the trees as a blur in the night. I also read as many books about vampire abilities that I could find. I already knew I could move sand easily but I could also turn invisible, flash step which is where you move to the side and appear somewhere else near by, I could jump over trees, run very fast, and as the 30 year training went on I found that I could feel my mates aura. I knew when she had been born, I knew when she was sad, when she was happy. But I also felt how a lone she was. 18 years after I first felt her be born I went to find her.
(A.N. Ok guys chapter eight is done! But I guess I need to rewrite chapter one and two again, cause not that many people are finding it that interesting. I will still have a new chapter every day but I will be working extra hard on fixing up the first two chapters if not the first five... Hell I dunno anymore. Please let me know what I need to fix so I can make it better!)
