Author's Notes:You know what the best part of writing a fantasy/dungeons and dragons story is ?
Since it's dungeons and dragons I can write character sheets for everyone and it makes sense.
So here's some back story on fantasy Elfsuke it's too spoiler-y and it's stuff which might be awkward if I just had Sasuke monologue it to somebody.
The really important bits will get repeated in the story so there's no need to read this to understand the main story.
If the alignment lingo is unfamiliar please do a google search for alignment table and I guarantee there are images there which will explain the concept in 5 seconds.
It was fun coming up with a mother in line with dark elve's lore i.e "evil" but who still cared for her daughter in her own way, I actually rolled up her name on some make your own drow name tables I found on the net, it worked out kind of fitting to her role in the story.
I'm a bit bummed that I made Hinata a healer in the story but clerics in the game are, besides a lot of things, healer and I wanted Hinata to be a priestess as it's the emblematic drow class.
I guess it evens out with Sakura and Ino being less heall-y in this AU.
Sasuke Uchiha
Race: Elf (High Elf)
Alignment: True Neutral (Leaning towards Lawful Neutral)
Class: Ranger (Variant)
Sasuke was born as the second son to the lord of House Uchiha, an old elven House which could trace it's origins nearly back to when the elves first organized into clans and started worshiping Corellion and Lolth, the very start of the elven civilizations.
House Uchiha ruled over a vast territory and while it was a vassal of the nearby elven kingdom of Silvermoon, they were mostly independent which meant that they had to provide their own protection.
A young Sasuke was growing up wishing nothing more than to be a good second in command to his elder brother Itachi, who would surely succeed their father as Lord Ranger, until one day his brother apparently disappeared, he ended up returning in a fortnight with a horde of orcs under his command.
Having been the second in command to his father, Itachi knew every trick the defenders would use and had the advantage of some of the soldiers being loyal only to him, that night the House of Uchiha fell with it's lord and lady being killed by their own son.
Sasuke survived somehow and retreated into the woods, a month later Silvermoon sent several rangers to see why the Uchiha had been so silent, the group while surveying the ruins managed to track Sasuke who was surviving in the forest but just barely.
After being taken back to Silvermoon he was placed under it's queen's protection and as soon as he was of age took the vows of military service and began training as a ranger.
He showed himself a prodigy, equally proficient with a bow and sword yet he seemed to show no interest in handling animals or any non martial skill rangers were supposed to be proficient in, the fact that he was training almost as if to become an assassin rather than a protector was overlooked as he seemed to be the best fighter of his generation.
His commanders instead of trying to force him to be more empathic to the woods he was sworn to protect allowed him to train with the druids; among them there was Obito who had left the House of Uchiha in order to dedicate himself fully to the Druid Circle.
As he watched him develop, Obito reported that Sasuke's drive and intellect allowed him to master the Druid's green magic, despite its insistence on harmony not being aligned with Sasuke's goals, Sasuke for his part while grateful for the tutelage was severely disappointed in Obito's lack of desire to avenge their family.
Sasuke's leaving of Silvermoon was put in motion by his own hand, as his generation's best warrior he had been assigned a critical mission by the young Polemarch of Silvermoon Ino Yamanaka, an assassination mission to take out a orc warlord during a battle.
The battle plan had been composed by Silvermoon's Strategoi Shikamaru Nara and it demanded the warlord die within a very specific interval in the battle, if he died too early or too late the flank he was commanding would not fall apart in the way Shikamaru's overall strategy demanded.
As the battle was against orcs, Sasuke's indulged in killing as many opponents as he could while going after the warlord thereby killing the warlord himself almost too late, a later tribunal would conclude he had endangered the plan and would be thrown in the dungeons for insubordination.
While in the dungeon, Sasuke befriended and was befriended in turn by a human thief who claimed to be imprisoned under false charges but that he had powerful friends who would bust him out.
That seemed to turn out to be true although Kakashi used his influence as the blue wizard with Lady Tsunade to get Naruto pardoned and in the end they even managed to get Sasuke himself released.
After swearing an oath to protect and guide Kakashi's group on their mission, some inane quest to destroy some tacky jewelry as Sasuke understood, Sasuke was released from Silvermoon's dungeon with the understanding that this was his last mission on their behalf if he lives.
Hinata Hyuuga
Race: Elf (Dark Elf)
Alignment: Neutral Good (Leaning towards True Neutral)
Class: Cleric(Priestess of Lolth)
Hinata was born as the first daughter and nominal heir of the Matriarch of House Hyuuga, the most powerful of the dark elven warrior clans.
After the elven civil war and the drow exodus, the newly christened dark elves divided themselves into houses which each then took on distinct responsibilities.
Some were explorers and conquerors expanding ever farther into the caves of the Underdark defeating and subjugating monsters so that the drow could reign in their lands.
Others were the tradesmen, through magic and sheer bloody single-mindedness carved glorious cities into the caverns so that the dark elves might once again grow and prosper growing rich on the bounty of the Underdark.
The rear guard of the whole dark elven people were the warrior clans, feeling that the war was not over they took over every territory which could serve as entrance and exit to the Underdark so that they could still raid against their High Elven cousins.
Sadly and inevitably through a combination of being worn down and overextending themselves in the war every warrior clan has died out.
That is except the Hyuuga, they alone have survived and can lay claim to the title of the strongest warrior clan amongst the drow, amongst all elves if you would take their word on it, having expanded as each other warrior clan fell they now control all their lands and have a monopoly on the trade routes between the surface and the caves, very risky but very profitable routes indeed.
Hinata's mother Baenileeue Hyuuga was a far more ambitious Matriarch then her predecessors attempting to organize unwitting pawn armies into attacking the surface elves in concert and thus weakening them enough for the drow to finish them off easily.
Her final fate remains unknown, but she is presumed dead after personally going on a diplomatic mission to a nascent orc horde, Hinata as far as she can remember considered her a good mother by drow standards she would often bring back strange surface animals and the mother daughter pair would sacrifice them to Lolth together.
At the time of her death Baenileeue, had sired two daughters Hinata and her younger sister Hanabi this meant in the house council's eyes that her line was favoured by Lolth to rule the house further.
This lead to the rather rare situation where a drow male would rule a house, truth be told Hiashi wasn't overly pleased at the opportunity he was a warrior more than a leader, losing his twin brother in an attempted rebellion after the decision was announced made him even less enthusiastic about leading.
Yet as the old matriarch's prime consort, he would have surely been killed in some petty retaliation so being house head, which included a formidable guard, was ultimately the way to go.
Hinata loved the time he would devote to her when she was growing up and before being sent to the priestess academy, yet as soon as she was old enough to know and keep her ears open she heard the naysayers pointing out that Hiashi was afraid of his daughters who would have the power of life or death when one took the throne and he was only playing at being a loving father to ensure his older years.
Hinata never fully believed the rumours but they did poison any chance of feeling pure happiness from the father daughter relationship, likewise doomed was the relationship with her younger sister.
As the two potential heirs their lives could only intersect in conflict whether in the open or in the salons where the drow plotted their political moves, as both sisters wound up choosing a path which was more about personal power Hinata as a priestess; Hanabi as a fighter over those that favoured soft power their confrontation would be a one on one duel.
Before the final fight, it wasn't as one sided as people thought Hanabi while a prodigy jumped at the earliest possibility to duel leaving Hinata as the more experienced one and the sole one with magic, thus when the nearly dead Hinata was left standing above her unconscious sister, there was a small faction who were not stunned but cheering her on to make the kill.
Yet every member of the House couldn't believe their senses when Hinata refused to do so and cited Lolth's commandments which favoured sisterhood whether of the blood or of drow among drow.
Some say it was fitting how Hiashi exiled her into the sunlit realms, many expecting her to die like her mother before her, others said Hiashi was still hedging his bets; that being said the hug the father daughter pair shared did much to strengthen Hinata as well as the promise he made to explain her departure to Hanabi when she was healed and the opinion he shared that Hanabi would have done the same.
Hinata found her stay on the surface easier then she thought, as long as she avoided those places where elves congregated in numbers she was safe as it seemed like the high elves considered the civil war something best not shared with their allies.
Thus going by her ears alone she was treated as just another elf even if people often gawked at her purple skin, if they didn't ask for details she would not offer them and a healer was always in need among the peasants, she lived well as long as she honoured Lolth in private ceremonies, thereby maintaining her powers.
In fact, things were going so well she was beginning to think about doing some missionary work surely there would be some believers on the surface world Lolth was interested in, that was before the visions came.
Visions were not unknown to those that practiced divine magic but they must be acted upon as they represented their deities direct will; Hinata wasted no time in doing so and finally acquiesced to the two adventurers who had been trying to hire her for a quest.
