Hey guys, so I know a few chapters ago in my author's note I said I was really loving 5B, but...this new episode was so boring. Like, Carol is the only interesting thing to me anymore and that's bad. Like all my favorite things about this show are gone. Whenever Rick is clean shaven the show gets very dull. AMC needs to learn the lesson ASAP and Andrew Lincoln needs to stop shaving.
Anyways, here's a new chapter. It's probably also kind of boring but it's necessary. But I promise if you stick around for the next chapter it will be much better than this one. Like, please just bare with this chapter and stay for the next one. It'll be good I promise. This one kind of isn't.
So, if I haven't convinced you out of reading this, please enjoy!

"And rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed.
You're my survival, you're my living proof.
My love is alive and not dead.
Tell me that we belong together.
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I'll be captivated,
I'll hang from your lips,
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above
And I've dropped out, I've burned up, I've fought my way back from the dead.
I've tuned in, turned on, remembered the things that you said"
-I'll Be.
-Edwin McCain.
"How is he?"
"He's fine. Now."
"I'm sorry okay? I've never done stitches on a real person before." The voices were faint.
"Well then you should've waited for Dr. Peters."
"There was a lot of blood okay? I didn't know if I could wait."
"Regardless, he passed out. Either from the pain or the blood loss but he'll be fine soon. Just make sure he doesn't rip out those stitches okay?"
"Thank you Dr. Peters." I could identify one of the voices as Maggie's.
"Rosita, why don't you go check with Carol, Beth and Sasha and see if when they were doing their house checks if they saw or heard anyone get hurt. If so, come and tell me."
"Yes Dr. Peters." she said. "Maggie, I really am sorry. I didn't know-"
"You did you best." Maggie said. "And he'll be fine so," she left if at that and I heard Rosita leave the room.
I could tell Dr. Peters was cleaning up the office.
"If you don't mind I'd like to stay and wait until he wakes up." Maggie said.
"I would've been disappointed if you didn't." Dr. Peters said.
I felt Maggie sit on the bed beside me and I tried to open my eyes. My eye lashes felt like bricks as I tried to pry my lids apart.
Her fingers intertwined with mine and I squeezed her hand.
"It's okay Glenn." I heard her say.
"Maggie," I tried to speak but I could barely croak out her name.
"Shh, it's okay. Just rest for a little bit."
I finally pulled my eyelids apart enough to see her. She had tears in her eyes but her lips were smiling.
"Hi," I said.
She sniffed and laughed. "Hi."
I tried to sit up to hold her but pain rushed through my shoulder.
I winced and Maggie brushed my arm. "Glenn, please." she whispered.
"Mr. Rhee," I heard Dr. Peters say. "Feeling any better?"
I scoffed. "Yeah, just dandy."
"If you want anything for the pain just say so." he said.
"No, I'll be fine." I refused. I pushed myself up with my other arm and Maggie helped.
"Glenn," she said. "You should take something."
"Good luck convincing him of that. That's the fourth time I've offered. He's still not taking me up on it."
She looked at me like I was crazy but I just shrugged. I would be fine but if the time came when someone else needed something for the pain, especially Maggie, I wanted it to be there.
"Dr. Peters, can't you just force him to take it somehow. He needs it right?"
"Glenn's going to be just fine with or without it Maggie. It'll just be a little more painful without it."
Maggie went over and shook his hand. "Thank you again, for helping him. And thank you for coming on such short notice."
"Of course. That's my job after all." he winked. "If you two need anything, come find me or send someone for me. I'm going to go find Rosita and see if anyone else needs help."
"Thank you." I said, weakly from my cot. I felt sort of bad for taking up his personal time.
"Of course Glenn." he nodded and left.
Maggie sat next to me again. "Um, I brought you some water." she said.
I rolled my eyes. "Wasn't I supposed to do that for you?" I asked. That had been the reason I went to the kitchen in the first place.
She giggled but held it out to me. I took it graciously but handed it back to her. "Here," I said.
"Glenn, I'm fine. You're the one who got shot."
"Yeah, well, you're the one who puked so-" she still refused. "Mags, I hate to insist but it would really help my masculinity if you would just drink some water."
She rolled her eyes and sipped from the cup.
"So," she started. "Are you ready to hear about him? The boy, I mean. Everything is so crazy, Glenn."
I just shrugged. I knew I should probably hear everything that's been going on while I was out. I'm sure Rick wanted to address everyone before we really got started with the day and I would need to be there to help answer questions. Rick and the others would need help explaining things so everyone could understand what was happening.
However, I couldn't help but remember that I'd almost died. Dr. Peters said that if the bullet had been six more inches to the right, I'd be gone. I told him to keep that between himself, me, and Rosita. I didn't need Maggie finding out how close my brush with death actually was.
Now everything from this morning came flooding back. I guess the pain from Rosita digging around in my arm had been enough to let everything slip away for a while.
I hadn't wanted Maggie to face the attackers with Daryl, Rick, Michonne and I because I didn't want her to get hurt.
Then I realized that this was the feeling. The feeling I was looking for last night when I'd put my hands over Maggie's stomach. I'd always felt protective of Maggie but I knew that she could handle herself. She didn't need me to tell her what and what not to do.
The only reason I would've stopped her from fighting with us was if something had changed, something inside her, that me me need to keep her away from the danger more than I ever had before.
I looked over at her and became nauseous. If I'd died today she never would have known. She never would have known she was pregnant. Someone like Daryl or Beth would've been the only ones to tell her. I would've been gone and she'd be pregnant and alone.
"Maggie," I said. "Can we talk about this guy in a minute? I-I need to tell you something."
"Well, Glenn, Rick wanted to meet with everyone after breakfast."
"It's- Mags, it's really important and-" I was starting to get nervous.
"Just let me tell you what this kid said. He was insane."
"I'm sure he was Maggie. But trust me, it can wait. I need to tell you something much more important."
She just looked at me. Her eyes made me wonder what this person had said to freak her out so horribly. "I'm sure Rick wants you to hear this now."
"I don't care. I shook my head.
That seemed to get her to understand the severity of what I had to say.
"Alright," she said. "Shoot."
Her eyes were looking at me, attentive and ready. No matter how ready she would possibly look, I knew she wasn't prepared for what I was about to say.
I sighed. "That night on the roof when we-" I trailed off.
She smiled. "Mhm, I remember." she reached out and I grabbed her hand.
I hated that I was about to ruin her memory of our incredible night together. "That night."
"It was amazing." she said.
I smirked. "It was. It really was Maggie but-"
"Glenn," I heard Rick's voice from the door. "How are you feeling?"
I pushed myself up to sit. "Um, a lot better. Thanks."
"Can you walk?" he asked.
I glanced at Maggie and I could tell she didn't like what Rick was suggesting.
"I'm sure I could. Why?" I asked.
He came in to stand by my cot. "People are asking questions. Questions I can't answer, not by myself." he looked at his hands and I could tell he needed help. "I need you, Glenn. Soon." he glanced at Maggie. "Did you fill him in?"
"I was but-" Maggie started.
I stopped her. "Yeah, yeah she did. So what were you thinking?"
I knew that if Maggie had told Rick that I'd had something to tell her, I would've ended up having to blurt it out in front of him. This wasn't the type of news I wanted everyone to know all at once. This had to be shared privately between me and Maggie.
Rick shrugged. "I was kind of hoping you'd had some time to mull over some ideas."
I nodded. I'd already know what had happened was bad. If Rick Grimes came to you looking for ideas, then he was desperate. I couldn't imagine what horrors he, Maggie and the others had faced while I'd been out.
"Just tell everyone that we'll address last night in the center square after breakfast. The sooner we talk about this, the more we seem like we know what to do about it."
"But we don't." Maggie said.
"Yeah, but they don't need to know that." Rick said.
"What about when they ask us what we'll do about them? How we'll handle this? When they ask us what we're doing what're we going to say?" Maggie looked at me. "What're you thinking Glenn?"
I looked at her, and realized she was what I was thinking about. I couldn't take my mind away from the thought of her being pregnant. Her body, swollen with new life, her face glowing, our family growing right between us. That's all I could think of.
I put my hand on her face and saw all the strength in her eyes. Maybe I shouldn't doubt her so much. Maybe we could do this together. Raise a family and have a baby.
"We just need to prepare ourselves." I said. It was the best solution to both situations. "Nothing can take us off guard without our say so."
"We stay and fight for what we have." Rick said.
I nodded. "Yeah." I smiled and Maggie put her hand on mine. "That's exactly what I was thinking."
Rick looked between us and nodded. "Alright," he said. "Ten minutes. Center Square."
Center Square was what we called the middle of the entire camp. If the council needed to address the community or if there were ever any events, this was where they would occur. The name "Center Square" was a little campy for me but some of the other started calling it that and the name stuck.
Maggie and I were walking there now.
Between the blood loss, dizziness, and the blinding bright morning sun I was completely disoriented.
Despite all of it, I had to focus.
"Okay," I told her. "What happened?"
She sighed. "I wish you could just leave this to Rick. You were just-"
"Maggie, I know I was shot. I don't need a reminder every five minutes. What I need to know is what that damn kid said while I was out."
She nodded. "He was crazy, Glenn. Like I said. He was completely insane."
"Was?" I asked.
She nodded. "We burned him."
I looked at her and nodded. "Good. What else?"
"He was talking about his camp. They seemed to know all about Terminus and what happened when we took over. They knew everything. They knew Rick;s name, Glenn, and Carl's too."
"They knew them by name?" I asked. She nodded. "Even if I knew that I wouldn't have been so quick to give it up."
"He didn't care Glenn." she stopped me and pulled out a bottle of pills. "They all took these. They're some sort of poison of something. I was supposed to give these to Dr. Peters but I forgot about it when I saw all the blood."
I almost couldn't believe what she was saying. "Like-like a suicide mission."
"That's what it was. It was a suicide mission."
My head spun. "In a world full of all this death and now people are choosing it."
We neared closer and closer to center square where a crowed was starting to gather.
Rick, Tyreese, and Michonne were already preparing to speak. I knew when I walked up Rick would want to start.
"Alright," I turned to Maggie. "Wish me luck." I kissed her cheek and turned away but she caught my elbow.
"Glenn, wait." she cried.
"What? What is it?" I asked.
She looked at me and put her hand on my face. "Just be careful okay? If people get to upset-if a fight or riot or something breaks out."
"We'll stop it." I said.
"I want you to come find me." she said. "Promise you'll come find me."
I knew it made her nervous, my being on the council. Promising this, especially after the morning we'd had, was the least I could do.
"I promise." she smiled and I kissed her again.
"Glenn," I heard Rick call my name from behind me and I walked over.
"You ready?" he asked.
I nodded. "As I'll ever be."
Alright well it kind of shitty but oh well. It's Sunday and I needed to post something because...duh The Walking Dead was on and what's the point if there's no fanfiction to read afterwards?
So, let me know what you thought. I know a lot of you are probably thirsty for some pregnant Maggie but I promise there will be more about that soon! Like, it's probably boring right now but just wait until next chapter! You won't regret it, I promise!
Thanks for reading!
