AN: So, I know this story was suppose to be done and finished with. However with the sudden and shocking passing of Cory, I haven't been able to stop thinking about him or seeing his face when i close my eyes at night. I used Finn a lot in my stories but never in a negative way, except for one. That was because I was always a fan of Finn and Cory was an amazing actor to me. He always had a smile on his face and i am still in denial that he is actually gone. This was written in about 10 minutes and is unedited and raw. So if you see any mistakes, please forgive me.
Disclaimer: I do not own Glee or it's characters.
Chapter 9: Late Night Check Up.
Mercedes eyes flew open in a flash. Third time this week. Third time she had that dream. It was always the same, she was snug tight in warm arms, head buried deep inside his chest. His heartbeat soothing and calm. One leg wrapped around his torso as they lay there in complete silence and peace. Just like always it ends the same way. Four words whispered into the quiet. Four words that she could hear echoed even after she wake. "I love you Sadie." That's it, dream over. No more warm arms, no more heartbeat, no calm and serenity, just clouded thoughts.
She sat up in her bed, back against the headboard and she stared down at her sleeping husband. His now long locks fallen down in his face as a slight snore is heard. She smiles still in love with him now after all these years maybe even more in love and brush the loose hair back out of his face. I love you Sadie. Those four words coming back to her. This dream has to mean something, otherwise why does it keep occurring. She wasn't psychic, not even a little, and though she may be right a couple of times about her gut feelings, she wasn't sure what this meant. She folded the covers back and got up out the bed. She grabbed her cellphone off the dresser and made her way to the bathroom.
Once inside she shut the door and put the lid down on the toilet, sitting down on top. She flipped her phone through her fingers for a good three minutes thinking of reasons why this was a bad idea, but visions and thoughts of that dream kept overriding the excuses she made. Finally, she slid her phone unlock and dialed the number. She may not even get through. He could have changed it after all these years and her worry would be of nothing. After four rings she heard his voice.
"Mercedes?" He sounded the exact same. His voice a bit deeper and hoarse like he had been sleep.
"I didn't mean to wake you," she whispered a few seconds later.
"You didn't. What's up? Is something wrong?" Clearly he lied, but she really needed to talk to him so she didn't dispute it.
"No, I guess I just wanted to see how you are. You know check up on you." She but her bottom lip nervously. Why she was, she had no clue.
"At 2am in the morning?" He chuckled lightly.
"Yeah, I'm sorry." She was about to end the call but his voice interrupted her from speaking.
"I'm glad you called. How's married life?"
"Married life is good. Real good. I can't tell you the last time I worked. I've been busy lately with my kids and helping my husband with this new project."
"How are your kids?"
"Nerdy and strong minded." She laughed, "and by that I mean my daughter is nerdy and my son is strong-minded."
He laughed right along with her, something no one could keep from doing being that her laugh was so infectious. "I saw a picture of them on his website, they beautiful."
"Thank you. I guess I can ask you the same thing. How's married life? Your wife doing ok?"
"Yeah, married life is tough, but amazing. It's like an ultimate journey that I never want to end." He replied.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"And the Mrs.?"
"She is cranky, moody, sad, sexy, and sexful."
"Second trimester right?" She asked.
"Yeah almost third. She's happy and as long as she is happy then so am I. She glows and I think it is the most beautiful thing ever."
"You should." About a minute of silence fell between them but neither thought it was uncomfortable. "I tried to call you. Tell you how sorry I was to hear about, you know…"
"…mhm, I say that. But I just couldn't deal with all the attention. Thanks by the way."
"It must have been hard?"
"It was, for both of us. But the doctor said that was common for first time expecting mothers."
"I'm glad to see you two are still together, something like that can cause separation for couples."
"Believe me it most did, but I wasn't letting her go without a fight. Our doctor said everything looks fine with this one and she has a very high chance of going full term and delivering a health baby."
"You were always so determined. That was one of the things I loved about you." Mercedes looked up from where she was sitting when she heard the voice of her five year old son from outside the bathroom door.
"Mommy? I had a bad dream."
"I have to go, my son is asking for me." She said I to the phone.
"Okay, thanks for this, for this call. I know it's been about three years since we have spoken but a check up call every now and then wouldn't be so bad."
"No it wouldn't. Take care of yourself Finn Hudson."
"Night Sadie, you do the same."
REST IN PEACE CORY MONTEITH
