Lilly was petting the cats when she heard a squeel of tires coming from outside. Then someone was pounding on her door. "Lil, Let me in." Scotty shouted. Lilly opened the door. "Go away Scotty. You said enough earlier." Lilly cried. "Lilly please." Scotty begged. Lilly had never had a man beg in front of her and it only made her cry harder. She moved over and let Scotty in. "Lilly, I'm so sorry i walked out tonight. God I'm so stupid. I walked out the door on the only person I've ever trully loved. I love you and I will help you raise this baby. I promise." Scotty cried. "Scotty... I can't do this." Lilly whispered. "Please?" Scotty begegd.
"My mom died tonight. I can't deal with all of this bullshit! I just found out I'm pregnant and The guy I loved left. I'm starting to wish I had never made it out of that attic." Lilly snapped as the anger just coursed through her veins. Suddenly she felt sick. Lilly ran toward the bathroom slammed the door and began vommiting. She felt someone holding her hair up as she emptied the contents of her stomach into the toilet. "Lilly, I'm so sorry." Scotty whispered as he held her hair up. Lilly continued wretching until nothing came out. Scotty helped her clean up and got her into bed. Even in his drunken haze he knew he loved her and wanted to raise the baby as his own.
Lilly awoke suddenly, her heart was hammering in her chest. She thought she heard something somewhere in the house. She couldn't be sure. Lilly felt sick and weak when footsteps made her panic. They were coming down the hall toward her room. They were light and deliberate. Almost as if they didn't want to wake her. She opened the drawer beside her bed and pulled her gun. The footsteps were right outside the door now and the door slowly creaked open.
To Lilly's relief it was Scotty and she quickly released the gun and closed the drawer. She had forgotten all about Scotty being here and about the baby. Now everything came flooding back to her. The good and the bad about her situation. "Hey!" Scotty whispered to her. Lilly smiled but then frowned. "What's wrong?" Scotty asked instantaniously concerned.
"Wha... what if this baby is his? George's" Lilly asked eyes cast downward. "It doesn't matter if it's his or mine. It will be mine either way." Scotty whispered gently laying down next to her. "I need to know." LIlly whispered back. She really was curious about this. If it was Scotty's she could live with that, but how would she handle it if George was the father. Lilly was unsure and that's one thing she hated being.
"Why?" Scotty asked. Lilly jumped a bit her heart rate spiking again. She had almost forgotten he was here with her. "I need to know if the man I love is the father or if a monster is." Lilly muttered. "okay, we can arrange something in the morning. It's 2 am Lil, please sleep." Scotty pleaded.
Lilly nodded and curled up into Scotty's side and just stared up into his eyes until she peacefully drifted off. She dreamt of Scotty being the father of her baby and somehow in her heart she felt she already knew the truth.
Scotty laid awake on the bed just watching Lilly sleep. She looked so peacefull. So unstressed and so relaxed unlike at work not that she had been there lately. She had to put in her shrink time first before the boss man would let her back. Scotty drifted off and dreamt of the future.
Scotty woke up before Lilly and gently untangled his limbs from hers. He called in an appointment to get his and the baby's dna tested. Scotty made her breakfast and then went to go wake her up. He walked into the bedroom the smell of pancakes filled the air through the opened door. "Lilly, Time to get up babe." Scotty said happily.
"Did you just call me babe?" Lilly whispered grogily. "Even in your sleep your detective skills are still going." Scotty said while laughing. Calling her babe made him the happiest man in the world. He had always wanted to call her that, but he thought that was some far away fantasy until now.
"Do i smell pancakes?" Lilly muttered shooting upright in bed. "I take it your hungry."Scotty said while laughing. "Race you to the table." Lilly shouted as she bounded off the bed leaving a very shocked scotty in the dust. Scotty raced after her as Lilly squeeled and laughed ahead of him like a child.
"I beat you!" Lilly shouted as she swiped a couple pancakes off a plate and onto her own. Scotty was just grabbing his pancakes as She sat down and started eating. "You have a lot of energy." Scotty spoke softly as he sat at the table and began eating. "You made chocolate chip pancakes! I love these." Lilly Said evenly ignoring his previous statement.
She was starving. She assumed the baby was why. Already affecting her eating habbits, but she was okay with that. After they had both eaten Scotty decided it was time to mention the appointment. "Lil, while you were sleeping I managed to snag an appointment for the tests. I hope you don't mind. I figured you would want to get it out of the way." Scotty mumbled suddenly feeling self concious.
"Oh good" Lilly shouted cheerfully. "Shower and get dressed we have to leave in about twenty minutes before we will be late. Lilly nodded and raced off to the bathroom. Only after he heard the shower running and Lilly softly singing inside did he let out the breath he had been holding.
Scotty was nervous. Scratch that not just nervous, He was terrified. He prayed this baby was his. He really hoped it was and he was about to find out. Lilly had gone back some time ago and to get the amneiotic fluid. Scotty had already given a DNA sample. He was pacing when they called his name. He followed a technition back into a room where Lilly was waiting for him. "WE have the test results back." The tech said loudly. Scotty sat next to Lilly on the bench and held her hand.
"The sample from the male... err I mean from Mr. Valens does in fact match the baby's DNA. Scotty jumped up happily hugged Lilly. Lilly laughed and smiled the biggest smile possible. She felt so happy. Happier than she ever had been or felt.
As soon as they walked out the door Lilly pulled Scotty in for a kiss. Their lips touched Gently and briefly before they pulled apart laughing. "We should tell my parent's." Scotty whispered. "Are they going to be mad? They've only met me like once" Lilly whispered but smiled as she did so.
"I love you." Scotty whispered. Lilly felt her world stop spinning. Everything seemed so bright for her as she whispered four simple words back. "I love you too."
Scoty and Lilly drove over to Scotty's parents house he had called ahead and arranged for lunch to take place. Just him, his parents and the love of his life carrying a child. Lilly stood nervously outside with Scotty. Lilly knocked gently on the door. Her heart was pounding as the footsteps came closer. As the door swung open she looked at Scotty for reassurance. "Don't worry." Scotty whispered. The door swung open as They stood hand in hand. Their love for each other growing stronger by the second. They were going in together and coming out stronger it's what they always did.
