Chapter Ten - Right Where it Belongs
Cassidy struggled to open her heavy eyelids as Maureen shook her awake.
"Cass, come on love, it's time for you to go," she whispered softly while placing a cup of coffee on the night table.
"What time is it Mau?" Cassidy was rubbing her face, trying to shake herself from a whiskey haze.
"3 am sweetie, you've got the drive to Manchester ahead of you," Maureen stood, gathering Cassidy's bags. "The boys will load your bags, you've got 10 minutes to be in the lot," She closed the door, leaving Cass to gather herself together.
She sat on the edge of her bed, looking around her bedroom. Cassidy could feel the tears pouring from her cheeks and quickly swatted them away. She needed to maintain a cold exterior in order to survive in Charming.
Cassidy knew she would find a way to live in Charming, her thoughts moved to the blonde in leather that's been haunting her dreams. She struggled with his lies, him hiding things from her, things he knew would hurt her. Jackson made a blood trade for his son and took the life of the man that saved Cassidy. He knew how important Father Ashby was to Cass and hid the trade from her.
She was starting to see through his charming persona, getting a full glimpse of the man behind the lies. He was incredibly manipulative and knew exactly what to say at any moment.
Cassidy took a deep breath and laced up her boots. She stood looking around the room one last time, pulling on her black jacket, she knew this would be the last time she was ever in Ireland.
She walked down the hallway, catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror as she passed. Black eyeliner slightly smeared under her eyes and a major case of bed head. She shook her head at her appearance and headed out, towards the lot.
After walking down the sidewalk in the cool night, she saw a few guys loading the truck and Chibbs holding his family close.
Everyone was saying good byes and well wishes, Cassidy leaned against the truck and lit up a smoke. Cass wasn't in the mood for this a 3 am, to be honest, she couldn't even tell if she was hungover or still drunk from a few hours ago.
Maureen and Trinity came over for a quick hug, they both knew Cassidy was never one for good byes.
Cassidy could see Jackson speaking with Clay about something, he was holding a small baby in a blue jumper. She bit down on her lip hard, trying to use the pain as something to focus on.
Gemma came up behind Jax and gestured towards where Cass was standing at the truck.
He gave a pained smile and started slowly walking over to the truck. She could see him whispering something in the child's ear. He paused in front of her, "this is Abel, Cass."
She could hear the pride in his voice. Cassidy ran her fingers through her hair, not knowing if it was the cold night or the small miracle child that sobered her up.
"Can I hold him?" She asked, not exactly knowing where they stood with each other.
He placed Abel into her arms, and Cass felt the warmth from the small child, his tiny heart beat as he slept peacefully on her shoulder.
"He's beautiful Jackson," she spoke softly, "I'm glad you have him back."
Cassidy was never exactly maternal, but something in her grew with Abel, she felt a pull to protect him: he was innocent and pure.
Gemma shortly intervened to place Abel in the car seat at the back of the truck.
Jackson took the opportunity while he had it, slowly leaning in, Cassidy had her back up against the truck.
"Listen to me Cass, I know your hurt and i've said i'm sorry," he spoke in a quiet but determined voice.
"Jax…" Cassidy tried to interrupt him, knowing where he was going with this conversation.
"No," he spat quickly before everyone else could hear their conversation, "I'm not playing games, you will be mine." He was staring deeply at her, her legs where staring to shake and a cool shiver was making its way slowly up her body.
She could feel his warm breath on the right side of her face, he had her firmly against the truck and his hand was placed just beside her head against the truck.
Cassidy slowly swallowed, it was getting harder and harder to breath with him so close. His body was pressing up against hers.
He slowly turned his lips towards her cheek, Cassidy's breath caught in her throat and she grasped the bottom of his cutte to pull him closer.
His left hand trailed down the side of her cheek and neck, slowly stopping at the neckline of her shirt.
She gazed up at him with a puzzled look on her face, slightly hazy with want.
He bit his bottom lip, slowly pushing himself away from her, he whispered in her ear, "you are mine."
