Chapter Nine:
It had been a couple of days since they had their fight and both Harry and Draco were feeling miserable. Harry had been avoiding Draco since then and even though he knew that he had been in the wrong as well he didn't want to be the one to make the first step towards making up. Nott had been trying to get closer to Draco since the fight, but Draco seemed to be pulling away from him which was a relief.
Draco had been trying to talk to him, but every time he got close Harry ran away. It might not be the most mature thing to do, but Harry was scared of what was happening. His reaction to that spell had been intense, and he hadn't thought that he would be that affected by what had happened and he didn't know what to do. Draco had always brought out intense feelings in him, but now instead of hate and anger, Harry was content and felt safe. He had never really felt like this before, and it startled him.
When had things changed so much, that Draco was now his rock? He missed being around Draco and the way Draco made him feel. But Draco has to work at it to get him back. So he would stop avoiding Draco and see what would happen.
He didn't have to wait long before Draco approached him. "Look, Harry, can we talk?" He asked
"Okay."
"I wanted to say I'm sorry for what I said the other day. You know I didn't mean it the way it sounded." He apologised
"I know Draco, and I'm sorry too, but I just need a bit more time to think. Look I'll talk to you later." He turned and headed up to the room of requirement. While he had stopped sleeping in the Slytherin dorms, he couldn't bring himself to go back to the Gryffindor dorms, so he had been sleeping in the room of requirement for the last couple of days.
With his back turned he missed the frown that appeared on Draco's face as he walked away. It had been a hard couple of days for Draco as well. He had never felt anything like this before either. Never before had he felt so protective of someone or as captivated by anyone and he didn't want to lose Harry. But what to do. He could understand what Harry was feeling but didn't know what to do to fix it. Unless... he had a perfect idea. He just need to visit the Malfoy vault he had the perfect gift for Harry.
Draco had backed off completely since their talk the other day, and they hadn't spoken all week. Harry missed Draco. They had been so close, and now all that Harry felt was lonely. He had tried to talk to him a couple of times, but Draco seemed to disappear whenever he got close. Harry was sitting in the great hall eating dinner when he noticed Draco leaving. Deciding that enough was enough he ran after Draco.
"Draco Wait," he yelled as he left the great hall. He heard seats scraping and people following him, but he didn't care he needed to talk to Draco. He saw Draco stop just ahead of him and turn around.
"Hi," Harry said when he reached Draco. "How are you?" he asked.
"I'm good, How are you?" he asked in reply
"I'm all right, I've been thinking about the last talk we had and I was being unreasonable. I'm sorry." At Draco incredulous look he continued "it's fine, I was stupid." Draco shook his head,
"No, Harry. You were right, I think we both needed some time apart to think about things, and I realise that you were worried that I was going to get bored of you but I can promise you that that will never happen." Harry smiled up at him.
"I know Draco," Harry started but was stopped by a shake of Draco's head.
"I know that this is your first real relationship and you're scared of being hurt and I realise that I probably should have done a few things differently. However, I can't change any of that now. Instead, I have something I would like to give you. I was going to do this later when we were alone but I guess now is good as well" Draco reached into the pocket of his robe and brought out a long rectangular box.
Harry opened the box, and inside was the most gorgeous necklace he had ever seen. It was delicate and intricate with a thin silver chain with a beautiful snake entwined around it. There was also a small dragon pendant with emerald eyes hanging in the center. He looked up as one of the Slytherins crowding around them gasped. As the other purebloods in the crowd saw the necklace more gasps were heard. Harry looked at Draco with a confused look on his face.
"This is a family heirloom of mine. It's called an amorous permission mobile. It is meant to represent my promise to you and changes its appearance slightly depending on who it's meant for. I promise to always be faithful and to never intentionally hurt you. I promise to care for you and to always be there when you need me." He smiled and reached for the necklace.
"The necklace will burn slightly to alert you if I have broken my promise. As a Malfoy heirloom it also has tracking spells on it, and if you're in danger, my matching necklace will take me to you. As an added precaution it is also unable to be taken off by anyone except the one that put it on, though if you feel betrayed the necklace will sometimes break. May I?" Harry nodded and turned around so Draco could fasten the chain.
Once the necklace was secured, Harry turned around and pulled Draco into a hug burying his head in Draco's neck. He had never felt so loved and safe.
"Thank you," he whispered into Draco's neck as he started to tear up. Feeling Harry's tears Draco pulled back and looked down at him. He smiled softly and wiped the tears of Harry's checks. He leaned forward and kissed his forehead softly.
"I've missed you this past couple of days." He murmured. Harry smiled as Draco drew him back into a hug
"I missed you too." He whispered back, and a few girls in the back awwed making Harry blush.
Deciding he didn't want to be an attraction anymore, he grabbed Draco's wrist and dragged him up to the room of requirement smiling softly the whole way.
AN/ Leave a review with ideas for how Draco can win back Harry. I already have some plans for this story, but please leave any suggestions. This is a bit of a longer chapter to make up for my absence. Hopefully, the next chapter won't take too long.
