Heh. Hi. Um, sorry? Please don't kill me, excuses for my delay in updating are on my profile page. Enough chat, you've waited long enough for this; on with the chapter!
Chapter Nine: Tension
I sprang up from bed, sweat covering my back and I blinked a few times to adjust to the darkness. Beside me, Lucy yawned and asked sleepily, "What's wrong? You okay?"
I looked at my clock by my bedside table; . Better time than ever to get up I guess.
I stretched as I got out of bed while Lucy groaned in protest, grabbing the covers and throwing them over her head.
"Yes, I'm fine...bad dream...I think."
I walked over to the curtains and dragged them open, letting the morning sunshine burst into the room.
"Ugh." Came a noise from the bed. "What time is it?"
"9am." I replied as I walked over to my adjoining bathroom and turned the tap on; I always had a bath in the mornings.
Lucy peeped above the covers of my bed as I returned to my room.
"Sorry, did you just say you think you had a bad dream? It's either a bad dream or it isn't."
I frowned as I shifted through my array of clothes and began aimlessly throwing items that I wished to wear for the day on the floor. "I would rather not talk about it." Despite my refusal to not speak, a blush crept onto my cheeks as I thought about what I dreamt.
"You're blushing." Lucy stated, eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Shut up, Lucy."
I turned to watch as my best friend jumped out of bed and grinned slyly at me. "Have we been thinking indecent thoughts, Miss Darling? I am appalled." She winked at me and I felt myself go redder.
"I said shut up, Lucy."
She raised her hands defensively but she was clearly trying to stop herself from laughing at me.
"Okay, okay, whatever goes on in your mind is your business." She turned away and although I'm sure she didn't intend for me to hear, added, "You shouldn't be dreaming about anything. Stupid memory potion..."
I blinked at her retreating form in confusion. What the hell did that mean? I let it slide, she may be my best friend but recently she was getting stranger and stranger. Constantly mumbling under her breath and sitting for hours at end, staring at the night's sky. Every time I asked her what was wrong, she would give some non-committal response and swiftly change the subject. I didn't push her; if she wanted to tell me what was bothering her, she would. We were best friends after all.
I shrugged slightly, grabbed a towel from my wardrobe and marched towards the bathroom.
"Just going to take a bath, you can use the shower in the main bathroom if you wish."
She nodded and took her own towel out of her overnight bag. "Thanks, I will."
I locked the door, stripped off my nightwear and sunk into the deep water, rolling my shoulders to rid them of any tension.
What was happening to me? That was the second dream I'd had in two weeks! I felt myself begin to blush once more as I thought about it. The touches, the caresses, the burning pleasure firing through me like a rocket. The person who emitted these feelings through me was blurry; I could never make out who the stranger was but I felt like I should; like some long-lost lover from a past life.
This was ridiculous! I had never even kissed a man, let alone let one touch me in such an intimate way my dreams were depicting. Maybe this was happening because I was getting older? Was this what I had to look forward to every, single night? To awaken with my breath shallow, my body covered in sweat and an insatiable hunger raging through me, one which I could never feed? Maybe I should ask Lucy about it? Strike that, she would just laugh at me, judging from her reaction this morning.
I sighed. Just forget it, I commanded myself, stop thinking about it and before you know it, it'll be gone from your thoughts. Even though I continued to chant this mantra in my mind over and over again, I knew I was just fooling myself. I was more confused than ever.
Which brought me to the next bemusing item in my life; that necklace with the acorn on it. When I questioned Lucy about it, she was a nervous wreck, explaining (while stammering the whole time) that she had made years and years ago for me and "Whoa, what a coincidence you found it now, Wendy!" I was highly doubtful she was telling the truth but it was just a simple piece of jewellery, adorable really, why would she feel the need to lie?
Brushing off those thoughts, I lay back for a moment and let myself enjoy the complete silence surrounding me, bar the faint sound of water pelting to the ground, clearly coming from the other bathroom that Lucy had occupied. I loved Saturdays; my whole family always went to the market and then out to dinner and then usually a show. I used to go and enjoyed it thoroughly though now days I preferred to spend my time with Lucy as we spent the day relaxing, making food that was probably extremely bad for us and reading. So we had the whole house to ourselves.
I finally smiled as I felt my whole body relax and sleepily pulled the plug in the bath and slowly got out. After quickly drying myself, I slipped on my dressing gown which was hung up on the door and stepped out into my room.
And immediately screamed the whole house down.
I barely registered hearing my best friend running into my room to see the object of my terror or the small "Oh bugger." That slip past her lips. All I could focus on was...was...
"LUCY, WHY IS THERE A FLYING BOY IN MY BEDROOM?!"
I didn't know what scared me more, the fact that there was some magical being floating in the corner, next to my window, staring intensely at me while glaring furiously at Lucy or the fact that this was 100% definitely the person from my dreams.
I began to feel overwhelmed and could see dots before my eyes. Before I could say anything, I fell to the ground and through I tried to stay awake, darkness quickly fell upon me and then there was nothing.
Hehehe, I was going to continue but then thought "nah, I'll torture them a bit more!" Here's a sneak peek for the next chapter, which I've already begun:
"Well I guess there's only one way to make her remember me then."
"Which is?"
"I've got to kiss her, of course."
"I'm standing right here you know!"
Hope you guys liked this chapter; review if you did; they make my day Thanks, LucyMoon1992 x
