"...yes, I'm… gay."

What. Ruby's eyes widened, her jaw hanging wide open. What, what, what, WHAT. Her head spun, not believing what it was hearing. Her knees buckled, nearly falling back onto the couch behind her. As childish as it was, a hand reached up and pinched the shocked cheek, testing if it was all just a dream. When the scene didn't change and the redhead was still standing in her own living room with a very real and very gay Weiss Schnee something clicked inside of her head. I have a chance. Oh. My. God. I have a chance! She's gay, too! Ruby was practically hyperventilating, wanting to scream out to the world about how lucky she was. She shouted thank yous in her head to whomever could hear them, and tears of joy nearly spilled out. Wait, Ruby thought, ...What do I do now?

Now that Weiss had revealed her sexuality to the redhead there were so many possibilities for their future. The scarred girl probably wouldn't be one for a grandiose wedding, and Ruby wouldn't mind just eloping off to some tropical getaway. There, in their wonderful little cabin or hotel, they would—okay, not thinking about that. Afterwards their kids would be adorable. If by the time the two teens were older and the process to make kids together existed the fantasizing redhead could only picture the two, yes two, little tykes having pink hair and being as pretty as Weiss. It'd be the perfect little family, and whenever the quartet would walk down the street people would stop and whisper about the beautiful Schnee family. Yes, Ruby would take Weiss's name obviously.

So how would Ruby start this? Should she just start flirting with Weiss and seduce her with the redhead's feminine wiles? Clearly the white haired girl in front of her wasn't too fond of her at the moment, but with the blackmailing called off and their easy-going talk a few moments prior, things had to be going well for Ruby on the romantic level. At least, she assumed so, but the line of friendship and love was blurred between girls, who were already so touchy feely and for lack of a better term friend-gay. Oh my god, I have no idea what to do, Ruby screamed internally, but this is the best day of my life.

In the midst of her emotional breakdown, the ecstatic girl looked over towards Weiss, who hadn't spoken yet. Instead, her eyes were trained on the ground with a grimace on the lips. Oh my, the redhead thought, I think I'll have to hold back on my plan for now. Pressing the pause button on the overflowing excitement and tucking away the burning desire for the white haired girl, Ruby took a step forward towards her, wrapping a cautious arm around the slender frame. Weiss flinched at the touch, not having noticed Ruby walk towards her. She didn't move away, instead letting Ruby keep the arm in place.

Say something to cheer her up! "That's cool, Weiss!" Ruby bubbled in an attempt to get rid of the frown. Crap, and that wasn't cool, Ruby.

The alabaster hand of Weiss Schnee firmly planted itself onto the former blackmailer's chest, sending her stumbling backwards towards the television. "It's not 'cool', Ruby, it's terrible."

"...what? How?" fired out from her mouth. I don't know, being gay is pretty rad.

Her brow furrowed, "No one likes a lesbian. It doesn't particularly help you get far in life when people know that sort of thing."

"What are you talking about? I know you're gay and I like you plenty," Ruby explained, knowing that her 'like' was more than platonic, "Being gay doesn't change who you are. It's just part of you, that's all. More people are okay with it than you think."

"But the only people who matter to me aren't!" the white haired girl snapped.

"Then you can just stop being around them!" Ruby cried, "You can't let those people's dumb opinions bother you."

Weiss's frown deepened, but rather than angry like before, it was almost somber. "I can't just stop being around my father, Ruby."

"Oh…" the redhead breathed out.

All of the former blackmailer's life people had been accepting, Yang being almost excited that she would never have to stop boys from sneaking in. Ruby had no idea how tough it was for the white haired girl, her one and only father not accepting the true Weiss Schnee. The poor girl would never be able to bring her girlfriend home to meet the family, never be able to tell the world who she loved. All in fear of the father that ruled over her. Ruby's fantasies from earlier suddenly seemed senselessly silly.

"Weiss," she whispered, stepping forward again, this time wrapping her arms around Weiss in a hug, "I… I'm not good at talking about things like this, but… you need to know, that being gay isn't wrong, okay? Like, it's just love. Your father, he just doesn't understand that. Uh… I mean… he probably does, just not in the right way?" Smooth.

"You've said enough," Weiss murmured. She didn't move away from Ruby's touch.

As much as she didn't want to, being close to Weiss was amazing after all, the redhead released her grasp, pushing Weiss to sit on the couch and seating herself in the same spot as before. "Okay, now we're going to sit here, chat, and watch some television, while you think about how awesome it is to be gay. Heck, I'll even change it to the women's volleyball channel," the redhead proclaimed, flipping the channel to the Volleyball World Championships, "See?! Look at this and tell being gay isn't awesome."

The scarred girl watched the women on the screen for a moment, before turning back towards Ruby and rolling her eyes, the twitch of a smile attempting to break past the frown barrier. Abruptly her expression changed, however, now uncertain. "Wait Ruby," she began, "When I said that I had had a crush on Coco… did you say you did too?"

"Ah."

A white ponytail swung as she exploded from her seat. "Shit, you're gay, too!"

"Uhh," Ruby sputtered, "Yeah, I am. But, if anything, that proves my point. Like, me being gay hasn't changed who I am in any way, just it's that I would totally date a girl and find chicks attractive."

Weiss sank back into her seat. "Gosh, this is just a room of gay, isn't it!?"

"'A room of gay'," the redhead squealed, covering her mouth to refrain from unleashing a swarm of laughter. She spent what felt like nearly an hour but was only a few moments with her head in her hands, shaking and eyes watering. "'A room of gay'," she repeated again, barely getting the words out.

"Don't mock me!"

"I-I'm sorry," the words didn't want to come out, the squeaks forcing it to come out in gasping hiccups, "B-but, 'room o-of gay'?" Another wave of laughter rolled from Ruby.

A red tinge was beginning to dust the pallor of the Schnee girl's face. "Stop!"

"O-okay… okay. I'm sorry, but oh my god," another snort of giggles, "but okay. Weiss, remember, a room of gay is a fun room. People would kill to join it. Well, not really, but it's not a bad place to be. The room of gay, is a-okay!"

"Alright, Ruby," Weiss wasn't smiling, but her angry frown was gone, "I understand."

"I'm glad you do." Watching the girl across from her from the corner of her eye, Ruby hoped her words made an impact on the teen's opinion of herself.

The two teens fell into a silence. Ruby had never been good at words, having been told by Yang that she would always speak before she thought and let whatever words that wanted to come out, out. Clearly what she had said hadn't been entirely bad, Weiss having calmed down and not yelling anymore. Despite this, Ruby couldn't help but worry. It seemed the Schnee girl didn't have the best experiences with her sexuality, and if that was true, the redhead wanted to change it.

Weiss broke the silence first. "Thanks, Ruby. You're okay."

Hey, okay is better than nothing! "Uh, it was no problem. You're okay, too."
Tilting her head towards Ruby, Weiss asked, "What are the chances?"

"Chances of what?"

"That we'd both wind up being gay."

"Well, I dunno," the redhead grunted, "Pretty lucky."

"What?

"I said uncommon!" Ruby corrected.

"Okay."

"Now come on, let's watch women's volleyball. It's a godsend for all straight men, bisexuals, and lesbians everywhere."

"Well, I still have to finish up my school work."

"Oh yeah. I'll help you with that, and watch women's volleyball. Multitasking for the win!" Ruby cheered, placing the worksheets that had fallen onto the ground during Weiss's violent shaking.

"You don't have to," the white haired girl replied, "I don't want you writing 'breasts' down for who is the current senator or something."

"I would never!"

She grinned. "Sure."

Ruby's pencil scratched across the paper. "Sheesh, I have no idea how you would've even managed the complete all this by yourself—oh nice, she totally just got a faceful of sand."

"I probably would have stayed up like I did last night."

"And how late was that?" the redhead asked, filling in a few more answers.

"I didn't go to sleep," Weiss replied. She flipped a page of the textbook before adding, "Well, I did drift off at my desk near the end."

"Oh my god," Ruby exclaimed, "How are you not asleep right now?!"

The white haired girl finished covering a page of line paper with notes, snatching another. "The drive to finish my work and actually get a good night's rest is keeping me awake."

"Ah, so I better hurry up then," the exuberant teen reckoned.

The two delved deeper into the work, Weiss coating papers in ink by the second and Ruby going through the piles upon piles of History homework, which she wished themselves were history. They spoke every once in a while, but attempting to keep their attention to the task at hand made it a challenge. When Weiss closed the textbook with a thump and Ruby crossed her last T's and dotted her final I's they let out a collective sigh. Left hand cramped and stained with graphite from dragging across the paper, Ruby raised it into the air.

"Highfive!"

Not as enthused as the girl beside her, Weiss raised her hand, going to return the gesture. The other hand slid the hardcover off into the bag on the floor. "I didn't finish, but good for you on finishing. Thanks."

"Good work. And now," the redhead declared, "the float design!"

Weiss let out a small yawn, a pale hand coming up to cover her mouth. "As much as I want to, do we really have to do it? I don't remember Mrs. Goodwitch saying it was mandatory."

"I mean, we don't have to," Ruby pondered, "but it may be a good idea to."

"I don't want to. It's a waste of time, this… this useless bullshit."

The redhead raised an eyebrow. The girl beside her's eyelids were drooping, and there was a visible struggle in keeping them open. A slight sway brought the small frame rocking back and forth. There was no doubt about it; Weiss had really not gotten any sleep the night before. Slowly reaching over, Ruby grasped the pencil and finished worksheets still resting on the couch between the two girls, slipping them inside the blue and white polka dotted mail bag. The white haired girl made no move to stop her, instead leaning into the plush backing, eyes closed.

"Weiss, you can sleep if you want."

"I didn't need your permission for something I was going to do anyways."

"Oh," Ruby nodded despite the scarred girl's eyes being closed, "Okay. I'll wake you up when your ride is here."

"Reginald should be here around…" Weiss mumbled, "...sometime…"

"That's not very helpful," the redhead began, but it was already too late. The teen's breathing had slowed to a rhythmic beat, her body slouching into the couch.

Glancing at the time and seeing that she probably had a long ways to go before needing to wake sleeping beauty, Ruby considered watching more women's volleyball before deciding against it. Plan 'kill Weiss with kindness' was still in action, and letting one chance to gain points to slip through her fingers at the hands of toned women playing sports would be a mistake. When Ruby was sure that the white haired girl was deep asleep she slowly leaned over, reaching into the mail bag propped up against the couch. The hand found its target right away, after all there was only one book as thick as that one inside. Using all the strength she could muster, the redhead snagged the textbook, dutifully labeled AP Econ on the top right hand corner of the book cover. How Weiss managed to carry such a text around was beyond the struggling girl's grasp. Placing the behemoth onto her lap, Ruby also snatched Weiss's white binder and pen from earlier.

The page was easy to find, having been bookmarked by the ever strategic Ms. Schnee. The redhead had never studied anything for Econ, but if it was just notes she was sure she would have no problem with it. Ruby doubted anybody would be looking over the jottings, but if they did the different writing styles were no problem. She had hours to kill and had gotten used to forging signatures when Yang was working and a paper needed signing. Beginning the painstaking task, Ruby wrote down the information about Vale and the surrounding areas' economy and exports as perfectly and diligently as she could, the words replicating Weiss's own admirably and even getting the slight smudge from their shared left handedness on the paper.

Ruby hoped Weiss wouldn't wake up until she finished up the work. If the white haired girl woke up part way through it would be almost awkward. So the neatly writing secret admirer spent the first half hour jumping at every noise Weiss made, while also trying to avoid getting caught up in watching her sleep. Succumbing deep into her scribing, Ruby lost track of time, not even so much as glancing at the television, the thought of Weiss appreciating her help sitting like a rock in her mind. Then a thud against the redhead's shoulder knocked her out of the focused state, a strangled squeal nearly making its way out of her mouth. Sleeping beauty had finally fallen over in her coma, but instead of onto the couch's arm, she had leaned onto Ruby, white hair brushing the red faced girl's neck.

OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. Sucking in rasping breaths to calm down, Ruby was sitting stock-still. The redhead didn't know how to handle it, but she knew there was one thing she had to do. Pulling out her red cased cellphone, Ruby opened the camera app and lifted the object into the air. Snapping a quick photo and setting it as her background, the goofy smile she did for the image stayed on her face even after she put her phone away. What Weiss doesn't know won't hurt her. It was weird, with the blushing teen's object of affection's head resting on a shoulder she could admire the perfect features as much as she so desired. It was interesting to see how the pale pink of her scar skimmed over her eyelid, something that Ruby would definitely not be seeing again in the near future. The usually rough girl just seemed so fragile while asleep, like a porcelain doll. Watching the beautiful Weiss Schnee, however rare the occurrence that she'd be out cold so close, was not what Ruby needed to be doing at the moment, and so she picked up the pen in her left hand, avoiding shaking Weiss as much as possible.

Between trying not to wake the girl by moving her arm and attempting not to die from having the girl she had a big whopping crush on resting her head on top of her shoulder, Ruby's work progress slowed down by ten times. Ten pages of notes and nearly an hour later, the redhead began dealing with the questions in the back of book that Weiss's agenda said to finish. It was hard work at first with barely knowing any of the information, but once Ruby realized that all the answers were throughout the chapters in the textbook she had just taken notes on things eased up. When the final question was given its punctuation her hand was sore. Very, very sore.

The sound of the front door opening distracted Ruby from thinking about how exactly she would return the school supplies to Weiss's back without waking the sleeping girl. The was no greeting of hello, but the redhead knew it was Yang getting off from her early shift at work. Ruby stuck a hand up and waved, hoping the blonde would see it and walk over. Her plan succeeded, and Yang's wild blonde hair came into view before even she as a person did. She didn't say a word, visibly tired not only because of her sleeping schedule having been messed up from work cutting it short, but from doing the day shift for the first time in a while. The blonde's worn state didn't stop the ginormous grin from growing on her face, giving a thumbs up when she saw the comfortable pillow Weiss had made of Ruby.

"Nice."

Ruby rolled her eyes, adding in a whisper as sarcastically as possible, "Thanks." Deciding to explain why exactly her 'just friend' was cuddling against her and asleep, the redhead added quietly, "She didn't sleep at all last night, so I'm letting her sleep now."

"Ah." Glancing over towards the stairs, Yang began, "So I can't climb up the ladder—"

"You're drunk?"

"No!" the aspiring chef spoke a little louder than she needed to, "I am so damn tired, Ruby. I'm sleeping in your bed, okay?"

"Only if you put this book back first," Ruby reasoned, pointing from the brick on her lap to the white bag on the floor, "And the binder and pen as well."

Nodding and not willing to argue against the simple task, a toned hand reached over, lifting the items up and sliding them into the largest pouch with ease. "Goodnight."

Yang trudged her way out of the room, and Ruby could hear the soft thumps of her feet against the stairs and the creaking of the squeaky door on its hinge. Thanking the blonde for her perfect time to return, Ruby nestled herself into a more comfortable position between Weiss and the couch. There was still time before she had to wake up the sleeping girl, so might as well relish in it. One and a half episodes of Blueberry Panic later, Ruby made the toughest decision of her life. She gave Weiss a gentle shake, trying to move her as gracefully as she could to the other side of the couch.

The white haired girl scrunched her eyes and nose up, small wrinkles creasing. It was absolutely adorable, and Ruby attempted to use her mental camera to save the image forever. Come on brain, don't fail me now.

Weiss sat up with her ponytail more askew than usual, blinking the sleep from her eyes. "Shit," she grumbled in sluggish tongue, "I feel worse than I did before."

"Sorry to hear that. I wasn't sure when to wake you up, because you kind of passed out before you could tell me when, uh, Regiball?" the redhead raised an unsure eyebrow at the name, "Was getting here."

"Reginald, dolt," Weiss corrected.
"Ah, I knew it was one of those chauffeur names. It's always that or Alfred."

"Well his name isn't really Reginald."

"What?"

"There's this weird thing with chauffeur drivers where whenever they apply for a position they'll pick a more chauffeur sounding name in hopes of increasing the chances of getting the job. We have no way of knowing, and by the time we do learn their real name the original has kind of stuck," Weiss explained casually, her hands pulling her ponytail out and detangling the knots with her fingers.

"My whole life has been a lie."

The white haired girl rolled her eyes, reaching into her bag and snagging her phone. One quick check of the time and Weiss spoke aloud, "Reginald texted me saying that he'll be here in ten minutes."

"Perfect, now we can chat and become best friends!" Ruby joked, despite telling the truth she desired.

"Meh."

"Oh Weiss, speaking of texting, can I have your phone number?"

Raising an eyebrow, the white haired girl turned towards her, "Why?"

"Why?!" the teen cried exaggeratedly, "We're friends now, that's why! Friends text each other."

"I mean, if you really want it, sure. I don't use my phone much, so don't expect me to reply or anything," Weiss conceded, reciting aloud the number for Ruby's eager ears. The phone vibrated in the scarred girl's hand a moment later. "Really? 'Yo, it's Ruby Rose'?"

The redhead only grinned, leaning back on the couch. She opened her mouth to begin using her last few minutes with Weiss to pepper her with more questions when the sound of a car horn from outside interrupted the not yet formed words. Getting to her feet, Ruby cursed Reginald for showing up early and interrupting her Weiss time. Walking to the door with her snow haired compatriot not far behind. Opening the door, Ruby stepped away from the now empty threshold.

"Bye Weiss," Ruby smiled, "Seeya at school tomorrow."

"Good bye, and I'd like to say thank you," the Schnee girl replied, "But by no means does that makes us friends."

"Okay, okay. Seeya." The door closed with a thud, and Ruby was left alone, smiling.

With nothing to do now that the girl was gone, and wanting to not see another piece of homework for at least an hour or two, the redhead made her way up the stairs as silently as possible. The door to Ruby's bedroom creaked when she opened it, but the blonde bear on the bed didn't even rustle. Laptop in hand, the teen considered returning to the downstairs and playing on the couch, but beds were infinitely more comfortable. Reaching up as high as she could, all the way onto her tiptoes, Ruby grabbed the short string dangling down. With a few soft clanks she brought the foldable ladder down to the floor, climbing up it with uneasy steps.

It was rare that Ruby ever got to go into Yang's room, or what used to be the attic. Now, however, she had a reason to lay in the snug bed with a good twenty mattress softeners. The room also had the best connection to the wifi in the house, which was surely Yang's doing. The girl's head peeked over the edge of the floor, giving her the first glimpse of the blonde's room in nearly a month. It was fairly neat, aside from the pile of clothes soiled from what looked like spilled beer, whether from Yang drinking it or a customer spilling it on her Ruby had no idea, and mistakes in the kitchen. The walls tilted inwards, being the roof of the house and all. A dresser and a few shelves were pushed in every which corner, covered in assorted items Yang had collected over her life. Snug against the wooden walls were boxes and boxes of stuff, old items from when Ruby was younger and her parents. In the far back of the room was the target item: the bright yellow and white marshmallow of a bed.

The girl threw herself onto the bed, opening her laptop and immediately signing in to Hunter's of Vale. After her third mistake in a raid and getting kicked from the temporary party she had joined, Ruby leaned back into the yellow pillows surrounding her like fire. The phone found its way open, and the image of Weiss pressed against the teen brought a new shade of crimson to her face. The excitement of the day wanted to pour itself out, so Ruby punched in a text to the only other person in the world aside from the two girls who knew exactly what was going on.

Filling Jaune's inbox with a message of godlike size, Ruby leaned back, awaiting his response. While she waited she jumped into a quick match, hearing the phone buzz not a moment later, but not being able to answer it due to her being in the middle of a full out war with the monsters. The second the bright red words announcing the last creature had been slain flashed on the screen Ruby's hands were on her phone. She didn't just have one text much to her surprise, but two. The response from Jaune was of course a congratulations and stupid quip about how Ruby no longer had to blackmail Weiss to kiss her, but instead could just kiss her. Evidently Jaune didn't know how real relationships worked.

The second text, however was much more important. Popping up with just the name Weiss at the top there was just a small sentence, and a picture of an open textbook, pages of notes finished beside it. The words typed out made Ruby's chest flutter in excitement and pure, unbridled joy.

Okay, now we're friends.
