Edit 5/14. Small word correction. Thanks Zarosguth.

*Bows on the ground* I apologize! I'm the worst to be making my readers wait so long! Life as you know it, can't help but tie us down to other priorities. I'm not saying you guys aren't my priorities. Just hoping that my readers understand. I'm sure a lot of you students know that studying is not an easy thing. But I'm happy to announce that I finished my third year of pharmacy school well and now I can start my fourth year rotations without any difficulties.

I just want to thank you all for being so patient with me and sticking through this story.

I would lose all motivation to continue writing without you guys!

To end with my ranting with some replies to my reviewers:

Zarosguth: Sorry my last chapter's comment upset you. I only was speaking to those who come here to read just those girl-girl scenes of Nanofate only. I meant no disrespect. On a much happier note, I am always happy to see a possible couple emerge. Teana does not deserve to be written off this story :) Yes, this story is full of angst as you already know. I only hope that people don't get tired of it, since there are more to come. Oh, the brotherhood has many resources, you'll find out just how much. And to finish off, I don't know Metal Gear Solid 3 lol. Is this a game or an anime? I'll have to check it out sometime. Thanks again for always leaving a review! I enjoy reading it.

RavenRose8: Thank you for reading and enjoying it and reviewing! All in due time with the king's assassination. And what do you mean about what happened to Fate in the beginning? Do you mean the injury to her arm? Well, in chapter 7, you'll see she was injured when the brotherhood was sent after Nanoha and Fate. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

Xlheslydesux: Haha, I'm glad you find this story addictive. I really want to write Nanoha's past too, but I can't write it in that order or things will be off. :( But soon! Real soon! Perhaps the next chapter or 2… But anyways, thank you for reading and reviewing!

Onimimi: Thank you for R&R! :) Yes, Nanoha will always be ok with Fate around…! Thank you, I have finished my studies well.

StattStatt: Sorry that this one was late, but hopefully you haven't forgotten my story! This is also long too so hopefully feels like another cherry on top. I am trying to write the king in a good note. I'm glad that he gets the respect he deserves, but don't get attached with him since we all know his fate. Yes, so much angst and I do love my angst. Haha. There are still more to come. Haha yea, Teana and Subaru can't be separated. I guess my surprise didn't come as a complete one though. I do like to make everyone guessing though, so I'm glad things are churning in your head to guess what will transpire! And two of your favorite fruits will be in here more. It will be more M-rated scenes, but knowing how everyone wants it, I had to include it. Thank you always for reading and reviewing!

FateKitty: I know, I don't want it told slowly, but things must transpire there for it to completely finish with the past and what happens there will of course be important for the upcoming future and meetings. Lol! DBZ, I also found it slow, but hopefully you'll continue reading! Thank you for R&R!

Vylria: I'm sorry for the slow update. I did finish my classes so now I'm updating. It's been a long wait, so I thank you for your patience. I'm glad you like lime scenes. Since everyone wants it, I have included a large portion in here. I don't think I'll write more of intimate scenes of the king with Fate, but I don't know how I will write. I haven't written everything, but I do have the plots in my head. I don't see anything with the king so far. I know everyone has been saying it is going slow, I double apologize. I'm trying to pick up its pace, but I can't seem to be doing that. My writing style makes me put everything out before it starts heading where I want it to go. So lastly I'll clarify about NxF relationship in the present time. Fate is following Nanoha since the past since she said that she wants to understand what love is. She has chosen Nanoha over the leader and is deeply devoted to Nanoha, but it is in the sense like she has found a new master to listen to. During their travels together she feels that Nanoha fills a hole that she has ached to fill and she fears she may lose that if she doesn't follow Nanoha. I hope that clarifies. If you need further clarification let me know. I'm more than happy to explain. And don't worry I love any size of reviews. Thank you for R&R!

Guest 1: Thank you for R&R! What parts were confusing? Maybe I can help clarify. I apologize if this story is going slow, but please bear with me a little longer until I can get everything laid out.

Phoenixnext: Yandere Nanoha! Here is limes for you and everyone who wished it. Haha. Thank you for R&R!

Hantoscute: Thank you for your patience! I hope you like this lime scene lol! And thank you for reading and reviewing!

Lance58: *blush* I thank you for finding my story heart quenching. And I apologize for making you wait. I realize everyone wants the lime and spice lol. So here is extra. Hopefully it will fit to your standards? Well with being descendants to gods, you'll see it is only a small part of the story… but it is also where they get… I shall not spoil. Lol. You'll find where it all plays into. Thank you for R&R!

SkyWing: Lol, I can't kill the king yet. Sorry! I will try not to write any more intimate scenes with the king. I do apologize for taking so long! Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Oxyrus: I'm sorry. I will try to pick up the pace a little. I appreciate your patience. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Sam Trieu: I'm glad you even took time out of your busy schedule to even review! Thank you! And I do apologize I haven't updated too. Lol. I know NxF is the only thing everyone wants to read, but I have to write out the plot. Haha, I have written the spice everyone wants, so enjoy.

Just2think: Wah, sorry for being the slowest update ever! I hope you'll forgive me! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

(1) So about king Harlaown I, in my previous chapter (sorry I don't remember which but it was near the one where Hayate first met NxF) I have called him the "late king's father". I felt that it was confusing to refer him that way since I bet most of you still don't realize who I'm referring to. Lol. King Harlaown I is King Clyde's father, in other words, Chrono's grandfather. I want to make sure everyone is on the same page, so I'll reiterate what I wrote in my previous chapter.

King Harlaown I is the one who died by Apollo's wrath (plague) after he sent his army to kill everyone in eastern Mid Childa. King Harlaown in the past I am now talking about is King Clyde, Chrono's father. The one who is working on the treaty with Al Hazard's king. Chrono is yet to be mentioned in the past. I hope that clarifies everything.

Chapter 9

The morning sun filled the silent room, its rays gentle and warm. Fresh air blew passed the curtains, gently fluttering it through the open window.

Pouring into the room, a shadow emerged near the frame, forming through the drapes. The tall form made no motion to fully enter the room, silently studying, as the light basked over a certain lithe body seated in a chair. The sunlight flowed and outlined the frame, enveloping like a blanket. The tall form stood content on listening to the soft steady breathing filling her ears, serene and content with what her eyes bathed in.

In a moment the color crimson melted with lavender. Its dyes instantly blending into one solid color. Eyes settled on each other, welcoming the presence of one another. Overwhelming emotions filled their gazes, but none could make name of it.

A kind, wide curve of the lips, an outstretched arm of the seated figure. The one nearer the window made motion, immediately making way towards the inhabitant and fingers slipped into awaiting ones. Their hands tenderly linked together.

The tall frame thought, how soft the hand was. The waiting ache that had shaped for a few days instantly dissipated. How much, such a presence filled her heart.

The seated one tenderly pulled the tall one closer. 'Welcome back, Fate.'

Sinking down onto her knees, the blonde wrapped her arms around the slim figure and rested her head onto its beating heart, closing her eyes to the comforting rhythm. She felt different, like a new being. Her actions unknown, but perfect. Molding right in. Could it have something to do with the person who took her first? It felt so right with her.

Arms wrapped around the blonde's face in an adoring nature. Caressing the girl as if a mother a child, a warm smile stilled in place.

A contented sigh. She breathed. She couldn't believe how warm it felt to hear her name in such an endearing nature. It sounded so different, sending a pleasant vibe throughout her body. She wished to reciprocate such soft inclination with her own words rolling off her tongue.

"Nanoha." She breathed with yearning.

'Yes?'

"Nanoha."

A quiet chuckle escaped and she answered once again, as many times as she wished. 'Yes?' She stroked the blonde's mane in a silent gesture.

"I like your name."

'Mm…Do you?'

"I missed you… This warmth." She buried her face deeper into Nanoha's chest, inhaling deeply. "Your smell… Your presence."

'My, you sound like the 5 year old little Fate.' She shook her head to no one. 'Silly. You know I have always been here, waiting for you.'

"Mm."

Crimson orbs reopened when Nanoha lifted Fate's chin up. Fate melted at such soft expressions looking at her.

'Come… come sit next to me and join me for a talk.' Nanoha pulled Fate up, helping her off the ground. She smiled up at Fate, patting the chair next to hers.

The blonde abided obediently, walking over to the empty chair pulled up next to her. She quietly settled down and watched as Nanoha poured the contents of the kettle into an extra cup.

'It's Barley tea.' She placed the cup in front of the blonde. 'Arf brews it up for me knowing that I like it.'

Fate lifts the cup to her lips, smelling the aroma, bland but pleasant. She felt a stare on her as she drank it.

Nanoha looked down at her cup, lightly playing with it in her hold. 'You've given me a pleasant surprise. I was not expecting a visit from you anytime soon.'

"Yes… things with the king… stuff just happened."

Nanoha's mind soon roamed to the king after his mention. Her hands feeling restless resumed playing with her teacup. Her mind unable to let go of the constant meddling of her torturous imaginations.

'Tell me how you've fared in the castle… Does he…' She tightens her grip on the cup licking her suddenly dry lips. 'Does the king treat you well?'

Even if she had no wish to hear any of it, she needed to know. To hide her anxiousness, she lifted the cup up to her lips. 'What did you guys do? Has he fallen for you yet?'

Fate stares down at her cup, seeming far away and thinks back to the events.

Crimson pooled over a lifeless body. It stained the patch of grass as it flowed like a current. It wasn't long before the sword strewn across the ground was quickly swiped up in a fluid motion by the king and came into its possession. He breathed heavily, having spent much exertion and watched as five assailants surrounded him and his lady. He gripped the hilt tighter, spreading his free arm back as Fate latched onto it for protection.

"Who sent you?" The king hissed out through gritted teeth. He demanded answers as he swayed his sword at each masked enemy, preventing them from approaching closer.

There was a weak falter in the king's motion and not a second too late, the enemy charged at him. Fate was pushed back with a yelp, knocking into a tree. She watched, terror filling her eyes as the enemies attacked her king. Though, to those unsuspecting she appeared harmless, that terror displayed was only a ruse for her mission.

The king appeared to be faring well, having killed one, until quickly his strength slipped away. It was as if they came at all directions, soon overpowering him. Instantly he was cut down, inflicting a large wound at his side. He grunted, falling onto his knees, his sword trembling in midair trying to hold them back as his other hand grabbed onto his side. The enemies stood a distance away, as if in a mocking gesture, staring at his power edged away. Blood soaked his side, and as the weight of the sword grew too heavy, the tip dropped onto the ground.

It was enough. Fate had stood in the sidelines too long. She would much have preferred to let the king handle the situation, to defeat these weak assassins, but it seemed as she had placed too much confidence in him. Fate picked up another sword that was in sight, fallen from another dead assailant. Her advance caused the enemies to place attention on her. Her movements were like an untrained lady in fear, and attempting it as luck, plunged it deeply into one of the attacker.

Fate released her grip on the hilt and gasped in feigned fear, watching the enemy's eyes widen with shock. His eyes were trained on her with disbelief, his hands holding onto the edge that was plunged deeply into him. He glanced down at the blood seeping out and looked up at her once more soon anger erupting.

The enemy grabbed his sword tighter and lifted it high. The king seeing this, hustled with much struggle to his feet and made way to once again stand in front of Fate blocking the sword that swung down. The enemy faltered backwards from the impact, blood coating his clothes. He collapsed onto the ground having lost all strength. The enemy crawled, trying to get away, but his energy quickly failed him and bled to die.

The rest of the attackers grew alert, finding it more troublesome than needed. Fate could see her king's stance wobbly and she grabbed him from behind. She could feel him leaning back slowly, losing energy and using her strength as support.

"R-Run, Fay..." The king glanced behind at her. "I will try to hold them off."

"My lord!" Fate shook her head violently. "You are king! It is I who should get you to safety!"

He shushed her, glaring at the enemies. "How can I call myself a king, no less a man if I cannot even save the woman I have come to love?"

Fate's eyes widened at his declaration, almost failing to hide a grin. If the situation were different she would have shown great elation, but this was not the time to be thinking about her mission when it would come to loss if she did not get rid of these masked assailants.

Even as the king found his vision blurring and relying on Fate more from falling down, he did not appear weak. "F-Fay… Go, now…"

Fate finally released her support for the king and quickly grabbed his sword. He fell onto his knees and as his vision blurred, the last thing he saw was her charging at the enemy before he fell unconscious.

By underestimating the girl, the assassins were dealt a swift death. Fate exerted no energy into defeating them. She stood there with mortal eyes, enjoying the feel of flesh upon her blade. She inhaled, taking a good whiff of the intoxicating blood. A scent she missed. If anyone had witnessed, they would have shivered with fright and have feared for their safety from such a monster. Her eyes dark red, hungry for blood.

Fate casually wiped away the blood that smeared her face and looked at the king's fallen form. To her unregistering mind, it was just another body, a stranger. She would have walked away not realizing who he was until a painful moan escaped his lips. That was when her eyes returned to normal and she immediately went to kneel in front of him.

"My king!" She gently shook his body, but he was not conscious.

"I brought him back to the castle afterwards, but for a few days I had to deal with the king's advisors while he was unconscious." Fate frowned. "So many questions. I could see it in their eyes, accusing me of the attack. I had to prove I was innocent."

'How are you here now?'

"The king woke up yesterday and I'm guessing cleared up my name."

'You haven't visited him?' Fate shook her head. 'Why not?'

Fate shrugged. "No reason."

A small grin formed and Nanoha released her cup to sit back in her seat. 'You're mad.'

"What?" Fate's eyes widened in dismay then glared. "No."

'You didn't like how they wouldn't trust my honest Fate.' Nanoha chuckled. 'You got mad and now you're taking it out on him.'

Fate frowned in offense.

Nanoha chuckled and reached for her cup and placed it to her lips, but her hand was stilled before she could even take a sip. It was taken away from her lips, being settled back down onto the table.

Nanoha watched with a puzzled smile at Fate's still face. Was she mad at her silly tease?

Soon her breath was caught looking at such an intense ruby gaze that now stared at her and suddenly she felt the heat in those eyes. Unconsciously she licked her lips and looked at the blonde's own that seemed fuller and soft.

A hand soon lifted to Nanoha's cheek and unconsciously she leaned into it. She felt that her skin would melt from the contact. Her mind was hazy getting lost in that ruby gaze she loved so much and she swallowed trying to clear it.

Fate's caress gently pulled her in for a kiss. Their lips met chastely, and the breath Nanoha had been holding releases in a soft moan. She was lost in the moment, relaxing into the touch and soon responds back, but much to her disappointment, ended.

"If you must know the truth, I came back for you."

'Y-you should have not come here. I was willing to wait.'

"Sh…I do not wish to speak of anything right now, not the mission nor the king." Fate quietly spoke. "All I want to do is hold you."

A light blush caressed Nanoha's cheeks, but was unwilling to feel the butterflies in her chest. She paused a grin. 'Were you lonely… of unfamiliar surroundings?'

"Every day… Not of the setting, but of who was missing. All I could think about was you." Her hand still placed on Nanoha's cheek, started lowering to her neck. "The sensation of your flesh under my touch… How much I wished to embrace you."

Nanoha's instantly warmed, turning into a deeper shade of red. Again with her words. Did Fate unconsciously say whatever she wished or did she say them purposely to get her flushed. Was Fate even embarrassed to her own words?

'It makes me happy…' She sighed.

"Why?"

'It is what I have much dreamed. To be in your constant thoughts.'

"You have." She responded in a heartbeat.

Nanoha pauses to stare, becoming flustered, and unaccustomed to this affectionate display of words escaping Fate. 'Fate, what has gotten into you? Why do you speak like this?'

"I only speak what is. Nanoha, this is what I understand."

This was true. Fate only spoke the truth, never hiding or speaking behind meanings. Never saying anything but of her mind.

'I am unfamiliar with this nature.' Nanoha bit her lip anxiously.

Fate stood, grabbing Nanoha's hand and pulled her up. She led them and stopped in front of the bed, standing so close together, her hands ever so lightly touching Nanoha's hips. Warm breaths mingling, Nanoha swayed at their proximity.

"Sh… Let me hold you. I wish to embrace you once more." They stared intensely. Passion emanated from Fate's very own eyes. "I cannot bear it for a minute longer. Will you deny me when I have missed you so much?"

In shock, Nanoha gasped, taking in a sudden breath. How could Fate even think to ever say such absurd words? A sweet smile soon graced her lips. Nanoha shook her head lightly. With her trembling hand, she lifted it to touch Fate's cheek tenderly before her thumb gently rolled over Fate's lower lips.

'How could I ever deny you my heart?' Her body and soul only lived for her. Forever her keeper. For a brief moment, her warm lips met Fate's soft ones. Oh, the longing. Her soul constantly craved her. Their lips barely separated an inch apart before Nanoha's words whispered in her mind. 'How can I make you understand, Fate?' Nanoha caressed her soft cheek before her hand wound in her hair, brushing it softly. 'I have already told you, I belong to you. My life is yours, so it is in your hands to do what you wish to me.'

Nanoha took a small step back, barely separating from Fate. She loosened her dress without trouble and allowed Fate to watch her as she rid of the garment. Fate's breath caught in her throat, taken away from the stunning sight. Her eyes roamed every inch of her, not sparing any spot. They slowly traveled back up and met with lavender orbs deep with emotions she could not name.

Fate's chest rose and fell with each intake of breath, quick and short, satisfying Nanoha of the effect she had on her. She grazed Fate's arm before moving onto the bed laying on her back. Her eyes welcomed Fate. Arms lifted up to embrace the blonde as Fate soon mimicked her actions and crawled on top of her lying form.

Fate felt arms slide behind her neck and wrap her in a warm loving embrace, pulling her down as their bodies flushed together. She felt every inch of her against her own flesh. Their lips locked warmly, soon parting as tongues met affectionately and danced. Fate reached to her neck and unclasped Nanoha's grasp and interlocked their fingers, pushing them above Nanoha's head. Their sensual kiss deepened and continued as Nanoha allowed Fate's tongue to explore her mouth. They took a split second to breathe before they met again fervently, unable to get enough of each other.

A groan escaped Nanoha as a gentle but powerful palm suddenly raked over her skin and stopped above her chest. Wondrous fingers squeezed and massaged her breast, sending shivers and swirls of pleasure down to her center. Silent moans escaped Nanoha, her free hand roving in Fate's hair, enjoying the sweet softness it held.

Fate wanted more, to revere in such searing flesh, to hear more of these lovely cries. She abandoned her lips and kissed Nanoha's jaw then down her neck, leaving a trail of hot kisses in her wake. Their last locked hand separated, and joined the other in playing with mounds of peaks. Nanoha's hand squeezed the fabric of pillow above her head as Fate's mouth joined her diligent fingers. Tongue swirling at her peak and Nanoha strangled a gasp as teeth lightly grazed and pinched her nipple, her back arched in response allowing more of her breast to enter Fate's awaiting mouth.

Hands continued down in its descent, feeling the shivers beneath her fingers. Nanoha could feel her heated core already wet with anticipation and squeezed her eyes shut. Her breaths were shallow and shuddering. Damp curls met wandering hands and warm heat emanating from the intimate flesh. Fate's own core tingling from desire. Nanoha's head flew back, and her chest rose off the bed as Fate's soft fingers slicked into her wetness.

Fate consumed her, body and soul. She felt like she would be swallowed, her mind reeling, but Fate's strong arms wouldn't let go of her. She wouldn't fall in the safety of these arms.

'Oh, Fate!' Nanoha's breathed out with labored breaths.

Fate's touches were strong but gentle; Slow but not unbearable. Fate wanted to devour her hungrily, the moans aroused her, encouraging Fate to keep going, but she stroked her gently. She would keep this pace for Nanoha. She knew Nanoha was a kind and gentle lover. She felt it their first time together. Nanoha could be painfully slow, teasing her, but Nanoha knew how to touch her. Like she was letting Fate build up for Nanoha's exploring fingers and tongue, knowing how Fate would respond. It was as if Nanoha knew her body better than herself.

Fingers slipped through the wetness accompanied by a sharp gasp while Fate's mouth sucked Nanoha's round mounds of flesh. Throaty groans escaped as Fate delved deeper. Her inserted fingers continued to caress her, pumping in and out to her rhythm as her tongue circled and glided over peaks.

Fate abandoned her current conquest in order to conquer another, a more prized area. Open mouthed kisses trailed down to join her fingers. She shuddered at the intoxicating smell. Eagerly, she pressed forward into the inviting wetness. A hand wrapped around her leg, spreading it further. The body underneath rocked in tune with her ministrations.

Nanoha tried to keep her eyes open, to see everything. Oh, how she loved this woman. What she wouldn't give to forever be with her. She lost her self only to find a new meaning with this person. Her only reason for being alive. Would Fate come to understand this meaning? Would Fate share such feelings? Only time would tell… time she feared very much did not have.

With quivering, shaky breaths, Nanoha clenched the sheets underneath her white palms. Her view was turning white, sweat matted her forehead and she moaned deeply. Too much feeling. Every sense of her fiber was alert and trained on the touches.

Her trembling hands coiled into blonde hair and gently pulled Fate up needing her close. They met for a drowning kiss. Nanoha groaned from tasting herself on the blonde's lips. Her body moved with each thrust into her. One hand sifted through the blonde's scalp while her other pressed against Fate's bare back, pushing her further against her. She wrapped her legs around Fate's waist as she felt each thrust.

Insides tightened around Fate's fingers. Nanoha pulled away with heavy, irregular breaths escaping her unable to concentrate on her breathing.

'F-Fate…!' Her breathing quickened with short gasps and her back arched high as an orgasm racked her body. The wave rocked her over the edge and through her. Nanoha shuddered heavily.

Fate brushed her hair, holding her as the aftershocks racked through her body. Slowly the ripples eased away until she fell limp in Fate's arms.

The blonde could feel the tiny quivers on her fingers and slowly, Fate slipped her fingers from between Nanoha's legs earning a tiny moan. She lifted Nanoha's face from her shoulder and kissed her.

Soon she pulled apart, revering in Nanoha's afterglow.

Beautiful. Nanoha was just too beautiful. How could a human being be so perfect? The manmade scars on her body were overshadowed and were in no comparison to her beauty.

Fate cradled her close sensing Nanoha's exhaustion, who tried to keep her eyes open. Failing, Morpheus had consumed her and Nanoha's heavy lids fluttered closed. Fate pleasantly listened to the even breathing of Nanoha's sleep.

It wasn't until the sun shifted, that ruby eyes lacked the shine it held. Her eyes were stilled and her lips slowly straightened into a thin line. She stared at Nanoha with a somber look.

The curtain's quietly fluttered, bringing in a soft breeze. Nanoha's eyes were still closed, but awoken from the slight chill of air. She was confused for a brief second before memories quickly invaded her senses. Her lips curled at the end as she felt the protective warm embrace of her lover. Arms were wrapped around her as her head laid on Fate's shoulder.

Nanoha slowly peered her eyes open and looked up staring into strong ruby eyes that held her steady gaze.

'How long have I been out?'

"About an hour."

'Oh. I don't know why I was so tired.'

Silence overtook them as they continued to stare at one another. It was such a serene moment. The two lost in their own worlds. Nanoha's hand reach up and outlined Fate's face, her brows, her cheeks, her nose, and then her lips, lingering there for a second longer. She reached up and planted a small kiss. Fate's lips curled up and reached down to plant one herself.

At this perfect moment, Nanoha wanted to say those three words. Words she had not spoken since the first time they had laid together, but she was afraid her blonde lover would not understand. Moreover she didn't want to break this connection; souls pouring into each other. Nanoha pulled back slightly to look into Fate's irises. Their eyes bore into one another. She loved that ruby gaze. Eyes that only looked straight ahead and never sideways. Her fingers danced right above her eyes, tracing them lightly.

'You know I miss the old days when we first met.'

"How so?"

'When you used to express so much of yourself through these eyes.' She stared seeing her reflection. 'I could see everything.'

"There were only fear and anger."

'No. I saw so much more… I only wished that it would never change.' A child who did her best to be in everyone's graces. Too kind for her own good. Gentle eyes, caring eyes. Eyes that only wished to receive the love she never received, but the world was too cruel. So much sadness entered, hardening it like no other.

She suddenly blinked when Fate released her hold and got off the bed. Fate started dressing into her dress and when she was finally done, she crossed the room to be in front of Nanoha. Puzzled, Nanoha slowly sat up, pulling the sheets against her as she looked up.

Fate stood in front of Nanoha and took her by the hand, gently pulling her up to stand, the sheet falling loose leaving her naked. "Let's take a walk."

It took quite a few seconds for Nanoha to register those words. 'Walk?'

"Yes. Get dressed. Let's go outside."

'…outside…' Nanoha saw Fate turn to grab her clothes. 'Wait, Fate. What? Outside?'

"Yes." She brought Nanoha's dress to her. "Here."

'I don't understand.'

"What do you mean?" Fate frowned.

Nanoha stayed silent, her questions stuck in her throat. Fate wanting to go outside… It sounded… So unlike her. There were people surely to notice them. Why did Fate want to take their chances? She didn't do anything to jeopardize her mission. Sure that last time Fate went, but not of her own volition. The blonde went only to please her.

Their gazes never broke as Nanoha grabbed her dress from Fate. She tried to read what Fate was up to, but seeing as how she could not find any answers, she gave up and started slipping into her dress. The blonde went behind her as Nanoha pulled her hair aside to allow her to tie the lace.

Fate had finished, but her hands were unmoving from her. 'Fate… Is something wrong?' Nanoha asked, turning around in their small space.

"No. Come." Fate grabbed Nanoha's hand and pulled her to the door.

Quietly, she opened it and looked to see if anyone was in the halls. Sensing no one, they quickly made their way outside to the back door. Together, they ran into the woods that hid their presence.

'How far are we going?'

"Someplace close. I wish to take you somewhere." Their hands still interlocked, pulled Nanoha gently along.

'Are you sure?' Nanoha stared at their hands joined together and couldn't help smiling at it. 'What if you are requested?'

"It's fine, Nanoha." She looked around trying to see if the coast was clear. "With all the focus on the king's wellbeing, nobody will notice my absence."

'Well anything is fine for me. Every second with you is worth a thousand lifetimes.' Nanoha squeezed the other's hand lightly. 'If I could, I wouldn't share you with anyone. It's a shame you're so popular.'

Fate couldn't help but chuckle. Nanoha sounded cynical, but it had been a long time since she had witnessed these sides to her. It wasn't often the ever calm girl showed her cuteness and insecurities. Her clinginess that wouldn't leave her side. She wouldn't have been able to see this side of Nanoha if they had stayed at the camp. It brought back memories to when they had just met, the little weak girl. She never knew she would witness it again like this; one who grew up to hold features that couldn't be dug. A mask that couldn't be peeled of its answers. A calm exterior who could smile even when enraged, but eyes that pierced its fury enough to paralyze. She had observed the little girl to grow into someone astonishing.

Now that she had thought about it, they had gone through so much together. It was a wonder how she never thought about how Nanoha had been the one who was always by her side. They grew up, experiencing their trials together. How blind she was when she was right in front of her. She was her roommate, her friend, her sister, her companion in battles, and now her woman.

Yet, even through all this, Nanoha was still mystifying. Reason enough to have been blind. With her perplexing nature, nothing of Nanoha ever crossed her mind. She didn't know anything. She didn't find the need to learn anything of her. Bewildering as it was, it never frustrated Fate before. Her patience never ran thin, believing someday she would come to know.

Now that they shared such intimacies, something started to change. She wanted to know about little things she had never cared about, information she hadn't questioned before.

It was a short walk, but when they came to their destination, a gasp had escaped from Nanoha. Unconsciously their hands pulled apart and Nanoha started taking steps forward. They were surrounded by flowers and hedges, the king's garden.

'It's beautiful.' Nanoha crouched down in front of roses looking at it up close. 'Where is this?'

"It's the king's private garden."

At such news, she quickly stood up with alarm. She twirled around to face the blonde. 'Why are we here? What if someone sees us? What were you thinking?'

"The gardener is basically the only one who attends to this place and he tends to it during the morning. He is not here at this time. No one will disturb us right now." She could see the hesitant gaze and continued. "Trust me."

'… Always…I do trust you. It's just… I don't want to ruin your mission for you.'

"You won't."

Nanoha stared at her before looking back at the garden.

"I wanted to show you. You always told me how you used to live in a place filled with flowers."

'Yes. They were called Hyacinthus.' Fate could see Nanoha's gaze was far as she explained the flower's origin. 'It was Apollo's. It was said he had a beautiful young lover named Hyacinth. One day, they were throwing the discus, but when Hyacinth tried to impress Apollo by catching it, he was instead struck dead. Some say Zephyrus made the discus off course due to jealousy that Apollo was chosen over him…' Nanoha stood and looked at Fate. 'Instead of allowing Hades to claim him, Apollo used Hyacinthus' blood to turn him into a flower with Apollo's tears of grief staining the petals.'

"That must be a lovely flower." Sad too…

'Yes. It only grew in my land.' A small panful smile formed. 'After I heard the story from my father, I thought it was a sad story, but as years flew by at camp, it became my favorite.'

"Why?"

'It is a constant reminder to Apollo.' She spoke evenly, letting her words flow. 'He can never have but see from afar its beauty.'

"I don't understand, but I think that's wrong." Fate said. "Why bind him to a flower? What good will that do when he can never lay in peace. He already had him when he was alive. So why can't he cherish those memories?"

'Because, Fate, he is selfish.' Nanoha closed her eyes for a brief moment. 'He doesn't want to let him go or let anyone else to have him. It's scary isn't it? This type of love. Even in his death he does not realize what he had was real.'

"… Nanoha. You are not Apollo." Nanoha's eyes widened as Fate stepped forward to her. "Do you think you bind me?"

'No, Fate.' You bind me, she wished to say. She wished to say, even so, you will never love anyone, because I will not allow it.

"I think being selfish is alright." Fate smiled. "You do not bind me… but you do have me, Nanoha. I won't leave you. You are my companion, my sister, my friend. I have your back and you have mine."

Nanoha couldn't help but sigh. She forced a smile and nodded.

"It troubles me though. You are all these things to me, but I do not know anything about you." Suddenly Fate saw Nanoha's eyes still with silence.

'Fate. What defines me is what you see in front of you. We have lived together for almost 11 years. You know everything there is to know about me. You have seen everything of me. No one knows me as deep as you do. What else is there to tell? What else is there for you to see except me?'

"Where was your hometown? You tell me about the flower that grows there, but you don't say where. You know about me, probably everything, but it's different for you. You haven't shared anything."

'I told you about myself.'

"No. I don't know anything. Not your parents, your village, your past life, nothing important that defines you." Fate shook her head. "I know of your many faces, but the hidden lies you hide behind, how can I ever fathom? How about the truth? For once will you give me a straight answer? I don't want empty words nor do I want your silence. Give me what I can trust. Why do you make it so difficult?"

Nanoha sighed. 'Fate, sometimes the truth is double edged. My origins, my past life, they all died within me when you became my only reason. I threw away my identity, so please don't ask because even though it is not anything grand, it will still be hard for you to accept. My past is no secrecy, but to my brothers and sisters… to you, I feel may mean something more.'

"…" A dejected look covered Fate's expression. "I used to not care, but I'm finding it hard to acknowledge your continued silence. You refuse to let me know you."

'Fate…' Nanoha understood her frustrations. Of course she didn't want to keep it a secret. She really did wish she could just blurt everything out, but with their current circumstances, it wasn't possible. If things had been different, perhaps she would have found it easier.

They were back in the woods walking towards the mansion. Nanoha had tried to keep the air light and to keep the tension away by talking about Vivio and how she had been frequenting her often, keeping her from being less lonely. She was telling her what they did together and how she missed Fate. She continued even when Fate was silent during the whole walk until Fate's pace slowed until she stopped.

Nanoha turned seeing the silence. Fate looked straight at her, suddenly making Nanoha uncomfortable.

She sighed. Was Fate going to bring up the topic again? 'What's wrong?'

"Return with me." Fate uttered.

Nanoha stiffened, but soon her stare turned hard. She turned back around trying to head back, but her arm was grabbed. Fate pulled her, spinning her back around.

'Is this why you brought me outside? To reason with me after I lighten up?'

"Well it seems the lightening up part didn't work after our little argument." Fate shrugged.

'Don't joke with me, Fate.' She let out an exasperated sigh. 'This day has been turning out more troublesome than I had imagined. Why couldn't we just stay in bed?'

Fate's grip only tightened. "Come back with me. After my mission we'll talk to leader."

She grit her teeth, her jaw tight. 'I can't. You know that's impossible.'

"Why? Because you aimed for Teana's life? Because you left camp?" Fate shook her head. "It's ok. Leader will forgive you for that."

'H-How do you know about Teana?' Nanoha's eyes were wide with shock.

"She's alive."

'She's… alive…?' Nanoha repeated.

"Yes. It's ok, she's alive."

'It's ok? No. It was my careless mistake. I was not myself that day.' Nanoha harshly pulled her arm back out of Fate's grip. 'I won't apologize, Fate, even if you cherish her. She was to die.'

"I was hoping you would say you spared her life."

Narrowed eyes stared at her. 'I don't spare anyone who gets in my way.'

"Of what? No. Nevermind, it doesn't matter. She's alive-"

Nanoha interrupted her. 'I did it to get to you. She got in my way. I was trying to protect you.'

It was Fate's turn to frown with anger. "I never asked you for that!"

'I can't help what is, Fate.' She spoke. 'My actions are all for you.'

"You see me as so incompetent in protecting myself? Am I so weak to you?" Fate's words seethed.

'No.'

"Then why do this? Why did you escape from camp?" Fate shouted. "Why put our sister in that position to come after you?"

'For you!' Nanoha shook. 'Everything I do for is you! I tell you countless times!' She calmed looking at Fate with pained eyes. 'What more can I say?' Nanoha backed up to a tree, her hands reaching behind her to the trunk, leaning on it for support. 'For you. I did it for you.'

Nanoha gave out a tired sigh. It should have been obvious. Everything she did up till now, was it not for her? What was she supposed to say other than that? Everyone or anything who got in her way to accomplish this would meet their end.

'For you. I did it for you.' She repeated those few words again. She knew these words would anger the blonde.

Fate's gaze was still hardened, but there was still some softness in it, seeing Nanoha so vulnerable, so tired. How long was it since she had last heard Nanoha shout, see the defeat in her eyes.

"Why do you do this for me? I never asked you to."

Nanoha shook her head looking away. 'Don't ask me why anymore, Fate.'

Fate's hands balled up into a tight fist. She closed her eyes, trying to calm her breathing. Her fists were released and she looked straight at her. "…Ok. Fine. Teana is recovering so it's fine. Let's just forget and we can return."

'I can't…' Nanoha looked up. 'It's impossible for me. You'll have to go alone.'

"Tell me, w-what did you do? Was escaping your punishment not reason enough for her to come after you?"

'You don't know what I did? Teana hasn't told you?'

"No." Fate frowned. "Why did leader order Teana to attempt at your life?"

'I…' Saying it was easy, but what came after that was hard to see. The consequences of telling her could only lead to an unfavorable outcome. Her throat felt dry under those watchful orbs that awaited an answer. In what way could she reply?

Her only option was to give Fate the answer she deserved and let her decide how to place judgement. Being silent would only upset the blonde further and she hated knowing that she was the cause of her unrest.

Nanoha couldn't disappear. That chance already vanished when they shared their first night together. Now, the blonde had her in her claws, governing her life. She couldn't separate from Fate. She was her air. Without her, she would suffocate.

Nanoha bit her lip, Fate's intense gaze still penetrating into her. She knew Fate wished for her return to camp, but how could that be possible with what she had committed? If Fate thought that everything would be forgiven so easily then she was surely going to be disappointed. But it was for the blonde to decide what to do with the information she gives. She had already forfeited her life to her. She was not her own master. If Fate wished to cut her off of her oxygen, then Nanoha was willing.

Finally prepared for any retribution she held her ground and finally spoke. 'I killed them.'

"Who?" Fate frowned with impatience and confusion.

'One of our brothers… and one of the teachers.' Nanoha did not advert her gaze. 'Do you see now, why I cannot return with you?'

Those crimson eyes she loved so much looked at her wide in shock, filled with disbelief. They stared at her like she was a stranger, someone she didn't want to know.

"W-What?" Fate was speechless, her mind drawn a blank. What was she supposed to do with this new information?

'You asked me what I did. This is what I did. This was why Teana came after me. This was why I had no choice but to attempt at her life.'

Fate was in turmoil. Nanoha had become branded as a traitor. A traitor. In the midst of them, right in front of her.

It wasn't a first killing their brothers or sisters, however no one had ever attempted at killing a superior before.

'You know now, I'm being pursued. Teana was the first. More are surely to come. You who abides by the laws of our ways… what will you do?' Nanoha gave out a derisive smile. 'Shall I make it easier for you? I cannot return with you… So, Fate. You have my life.' Nanoha stepped closer to the blonde who automatically took a step back in response. 'Our decrees command you to kill me. Take it.'

Flabbergasted, the blonde shook her head in retort. Suddenly appalled of this person. "You slayed our clan members for me… How? How is this for me?" Such an answer was unforgivable. Her teeth clenched tightly. "I never asked this of you!"

'It doesn't matter now, does it? However you look at it, I already committed the act. So…' Nanoha walked the few steps to close the gap. Her fingers glided down the blonde's angered shoulders to her hands, guiding unresisting hands up and placing them around her neck. 'End it. Please, Fate… I cannot ever stand for you to hate me, to look at me with such eyes. You lost the chance to leave me and you've made me completely unable to live without you anymore.'

She closed her eyes, lifting her head, exposing her neck further, allowing more access for Fate's grip. 'How do you not see? Why do you not know? Everything I do for you and yet, it is never enough and I keep committing this sin too much that it hurts. This pain. You are the only one who can end it for me. I willingly give my life up to you. Free me from this bind you have tied me to. Dying by your hands has always been my wish, for you to end my misery.'

For a split second, widened eyes contained doubt until words were spoken to her.

'Finish the job Teana failed at. Do it, Fate!'

That momentary falter vanished and quickly was replaced with hatred. With much strife, hands didn't retract. Nanoha was allowing her to take her life. What more did she have a reason to hesitate? Her grip only tightened.

Her options were churning in her head. She could end her life as permitted. Her slim, delicate neck could snap like a twig easily under the pressure of her hands. Her leader would be satisfied…

She could feel the blood pulsing in Nanoha's neck between her hands. This traitor. She was squeezing the life away from her. This person who betrayed everyone. She watched as the color on her face started changing, but Nanoha did not struggle.

Fate's grip suddenly hesitated at this willing girl. This girl who commits these acts all because of her, one who was ready to die by her hands.

Why was Nanoha always going so far for her? What did Nanoha see in her? This soulless being that only craves the scent of blood? Immediately her grip tightened again. She must save Nanoha. Keep her away from such darkness. She would save her from falling to such depths, save her from coming to her level where she sought out death.

No… Nanoha chose to be by her side with her own declaration. This declaration that made her feel different, taking away the cold. She filled her with warmth she had never experienced. She bit her lips, staring at the smooth creamy skin that she had placed kisses over just a few moments ago, her thin neck.

Nanoha had asked her to release her of this hell Fate had unknowingly casted on her, yet how could she? Such a dire act, how could she possibly? What about her? Had Nanoha not realized what effects she had on her? What feelings she started to brew up? Nanoha gave her life meaning other than the bloodshed that ruled her. She would lose what made her feel this way, what made her feel alive. She needed to hold onto it! To understand it! To reason with it! She had told Nanoha she would stay with her!

Fate could see Nanoha's last strength withering away. She loosened her grip immediately and the auburn haired crumpled to the ground holding her neck, the sound of air being hungrily gasped in. She laid on the ground with no strength, her vision blurry.

As the blood started to recirculate and allowed oxygen, Nanoha looked up in confusion as Fate dropped her hands. A few words mumbled, too quiet for her to hear.

"I can't." She said again, louder for her.

'Fate?' Her brows furrowed. 'Do it. I'm already dead. You know it.'

"No." She turned around her hands trembling, brushing back her hair in conflict. She thought of another possible solution and quickly looked down at Nanoha. "Let's ask leader for forgiveness."

'Are you still saying that? It's futile. You know that's not possible. Once we default, we can't return.' Nanoha softly said, standing up with slight struggle from the dizziness.

"He favors us! He can't afford to lose his best! Ask him for another chance!" Fate grabbed Nanoha's shoulders in desperation. "Leader is most forgiving." The blonde smiled with confidence. "As have I, he will look past your crimes."

'… My crimes…'

"We shall return together when I finish this mission. Alright?"

Nanoha couldn't believe what she was hearing. This was ridiculous. Such a despicable man forgiving her. He was a snake who preyed on feeble minds and enchanted them, molding them into puppets. She couldn't begin to imagine how much longer she would be able to follow that so called leader.

Such a foolish being, her blonde was. So trusting… Nanoha closed her eyes. She had held up this long for the blonde. To endure a little more was all that was needed, but until when…

'Is that what you wish?'

"Yes." Fate replied more assertively "Yes!"

'Alright.' She couldn't possibly make Fate leave the clan, and if she had nowhere to go, she might as well return. Either way, if she left, more would pursue her until she was dead. If she returned she could be with the blonde a little longer until the leader ordered her death. She would choose to return to camp to meet her death if it meant a second longer to be with her Fate.

"Thank you. I know leader will forgive you. I know it." Fate hugged her tightly, never seeing the torment evident on Nanoha's face through the embrace.

The earthen scent was freshly sweet, fragrance of musky maples as leaves whispered with their descent of grand finale. Bare trees yet to be seen, its vibrant colors more apparent than the sunset hues. The wind rose with a howl. The air crisp and freshen. It was the apparent changing of seasons, as if opening the gates for autumn's welcome.

Strips of chilly morning breeze swept through the deep, open corridors; its droning sound blocked off by firm walls. Its beginning form unable to make pass into the solid mansion.

What rang within couldn't be more apparent than a set of impatient footsteps. Down the inner walls of the corridor, the owner's heavy steps echoed down, clear to any listening ears. The sound stopped in place, a form blocking its way.

"Your pace seems heavy. So unlike your usual gait. Is something on your mind that I can help with, Nanoha?"

The mute girl shook her head upon the blonde knight.

"You are on your way to seek out my lord?"

She nodded, looking over the knight's shoulder at her destination, the door her final obstacle.

"I was just headed there myself. Come, we shall see her together."

Their presence was let known to the mansion's owner and was permitted inside. Opening the door, the knight entered first, handing over the written scrolls she had been carrying.

"My lord, the tax accounts."

"Good work, Shamal. I shall look over them. I hope all is faring well."

"So far, but in preparation for the war, it will be a difficult year with the coming winter."

"Yes... nothing is without a price. I will try to see what the other lords can do about lending a hand. The sooner this is over, the better it will be for everyone." She cleared her throat and nodded. "Well, thank you. You may leave us."

Shamal bowed, excusing her presence and smiled at Nanoha before leaving them alone. The door closed behind Nanoha who walked closer to Hayate's desk.

"What can I do for you, Nanoha?" Hayate said with politeness, placing the scrolls to the side of her desk.

Taking out the parchment and quill tucked in her pouch, Nanoha wrote and displayed it for Hayate to read.

Her eyes moved along the paper and leaned back against her chair. "Yes, I have not forgotten about our deal."

Nanoha wrote again, showing it to her. 'It's been two weeks.' The next word written more thickly with pique. 'When?'

"I have not been able to make any accommodations for your trip, nor have alerted the melissae of your arrival. I apologize, but I have been too preoccupied with the upcoming battles we shall soon face." She explained.

Nanoha was unconvinced with the excuses and stared at her with steeliness that shouldn't be taken light for.

Hayate though, felt no threat and found herself to disregard such looks. She stood up and walked around her desk to stand behind a table that was to the left of the room. She stared down at a large map of two countries, one pictured of Mid Childa to the west and Al Hazard to the east. Both which were bordered by water and in its water a haggard landscape of many small islands

"Ok, here's this Nanoha. Come." She motioned Nanoha over to the table. "The border into Eastern Mid Childa is blocked off, so there is only one option into entering Al Hazard. The army is to cross by sea, but that would mean to lose many men to Poseidon. Not only that, but there are boats stationed to guard Al Hazard. We would be able to push through with our great force onto their land, but it would take its toll on our people.

"I will allow your swift travel into Eastern Mid Childa, if you find a way to get us across to Al Hazard." She turned her face to look at Nanoha. "Undetected."

She could see Hayate was only biding time. If Hayate was figuring out a way herself, what made her think that she could find one?

'Regardless I find a way or not, you are going against what our deal was from the beginning.' Nanoha wrote. 'You are to allow me passage there without restrictions.'

Hayate sighed and leaned on the edge of the table looking down to the map.

'What is the problem? Just write me your permission and I can find my own way there. I do not need any preparation.'

"I really do not wish for you to go." She finally spoke softly and continued before Nanoha could counter. "Who's to say you won't catch the plague? I will be the cause of your death for allowing you to go. Everyone stays clear of going near because of it. I'm afraid your friend will even kill me for even allowing you to go."

Nanoha smirked at this. Perhaps her blonde companion would do this, but she knew better. She shook her head. Her friend would not jump to such accusations. It was her own actions.

All jokes aside, she stared at the young lord and almost frowned at seeing such a troubled face; heavy features just like she. The thoughts of war must be heavy to her heart. Nanoha understood; their own fate each possessed, tied down by duties. Perhaps she could share some of that burden and shed some light by taking some off her shoulders.

Handing another paper, Hayate sighed as she grabbed it and read. She looked on with confusion.

It read, 'If you give me a few days, I will open up a path for you.'

"What?" Hayate looked up. "Do you jest with me now? You know I was only kidding about it. I have told you the only route left."

'I was not joking.'

"Are you meaning to tell me you know of another route not shown on this map?"

Nanoha shook her head and wrote more. 'I do not know of any secret passages.'

"What is this? Are you trying to anger me?"

'Allow me to go to Eastern Mid Childa as discussed. I do not require any notice sent ahead or any adjustments made for my travel. However, when I reach there, I will need an emblem or letter of some sort that will announce my presence as someone who has authority that whoever guards there will not block my path. I must have the melissae willing to meet with me. I will handle everything else when I meet her. Then, when I return you will have your war, no your king's war.'

Hayate looked at her with a hard stare; trying to discern what character this girl was. She was such a puzzle. Who was she? Why was Nanoha so confident and wanting to head to Eastern Mid Childa? There was no explanation in any way she saw to it.

"What is your purpose? You never did tell me your business of going there." Hayate dragged her hand prudently as she walked around the table to stand across from Nanoha. "I thought it odd at first when you first mentioned it in the beginning. Even when you knew the land no longer exists, you still wish to go. Do you hope to find something or do you know something?"

Nanoha looked down to the map of Eastern Mid Childa and stared.

"Do you know the history around it?" No answer was given from Nanoha who did not give anything up. "Do you know how it used to be the holiest ground and more important than the king? What are you trying to find there?"

Nanoha's features continued to hide behind her mask. There was no acknowledgement to her words. She looked back up to Hayate.

The young lord didn't take her silence well. Their gazes pierced at one another, like opposite forces pushing, seeing who would weaken first. A constant impulse to find an opening to make one yield. Two strong beings could not face the fact that the other would not submit.

Hayate, the superior, did not have full command and Nanoha who let herself be commanded, but would not allow one to rule over her. They were intelligent and contained wisdom of a king, but sometimes their sight was blinded when it came to trust. They could not become full allies this way.

'Many questions you have. They will be answered when I get my end of the deal and you will get your path you wish.'

"Granted you do get to meet the melissae. Then what? Like I've told you, there is nothing. You will find nothing. Everyone was killed ordered by king Harlaown I (1). Not only that, Apollo was angered and has made the place inhabitable by spreading the plague. Only the melissae, granted by the gods can enter. So again I ask, what is your motive?"

'Enough! I can tell you are a person who follows through. You have promised me my meeting with the melissae, so make it happen.'

Hayate's gaze was to her hand which squeezed, crumpling the parchment with it. "I want to trust you, Nanoha. I really do." She looked up to see the consistent form of Nanoha's resolution.

"I feel as though you can be an important character in my life. Someone who will have meaning, but right now I don't feel that you deserve my confidence. I've been good to both of you, welcomed you into my home and given you my friendship. However there are things the both of you are hiding and I don't feel completely safe. Someone is chasing after the both of you and not only that, your unwillingness to tell me anything. Give me something to lean on so that I may continue to believe in my instincts and be able to call you my friend."

Finally, a sigh escaped and Nanoha slowly shook her head before bleakly writing. 'When I return, you shall know of everything. Right now, I do not have my name… my identity that which was lost. I do not have the right to speak freely when he is angered. When it is found, I shall properly devote myself to help King Harlaown III's cause.'

"Identity? Who?" Hayate frowned with further confusion until something clicked in her mind and her arms jolted up, firmly holding onto Nanoha's arms with realization apparent in her eyes. "You… You couldn't possibly be. It's impossible…"

'I said stay here.' Nanoha demanded as she watched her companion pick her sword off the bed and into her back sheath.

Fate turned to her, tying her cloak around her neck. "No."

Eyes narrowed as Nanoha's took a step forward, her leather boots making a firm stance. She reached into the blonde's cloak and grabbed her arm lifting it out of the fabric. Slightly, Nanoha squeezed the arm, causing her companion to flinch at the pressure.

Irately, Fate pulled her arm back dropping under the safety of the cloak, throbbing from the sensation. It had been almost two weeks since the disability of her arm. It was healing well, taking the measures of Shamal's instructions to quicken its usage. Still, the full capacity of its function was too early for her to add stress to.

'You're no good out there.' She warned yet again. 'You won't be of any use to me.'

Nanoha stared with sternness, letting her words hit the blonde hard. They were blunt leaving no hint of kindness, in a way to anger any born warrior. As if to tell her an incompetent warrior was an obstruction. A hindrance that only added to the body count. To clearly clarify that she would be of no value, her presence adding no change.

Yet even with her firmness, the blonde showed no indication of giving in. Paying no heed to the girl's words knowing they were only meant to keep her safe. But it was of no need as even with one immobilized arm, she was no average warrior, worth a hundred men. Fate's mind was already set. Nothing could change her resolve, it would be like trying to move a boulder hundred times one's size. Even if that person was Nanoha herself.

"Still. I will go."

'I said stay here.' Nanoha's brows furrowed tighter. Her fingers came to rest on her temple and rubbed it. Why was everyone giving her a hard time? Everyone was arguing with her. She only asked for trust until she could prepare herself to explain everything. She scoffed at herself. Of course no one would trust her. With so many secrets, of course she should expect this treatment. No one would or could confide in her. Sometimes she even wondered if her secret was worth this much effort. She only brought this upon herself.

"I have been stuck inside too long. I do not wish for you to go alone." She gritted her teeth hating the idea of Nanoha being out without her, not knowing when the real threat could sneak up on them.

'Fate, that is only because you need to recuperate.' Nanoha touched Fate's shoulder, soothing her anger. 'Besides, this is only the start. I will be separated from you in the war. How will you fare it then when I'm only going away for a short few days. I will return shortly. Small battles here and there that appear are of no threat to me. I will be able to handle it alone.'

"And I will join too." She spoke neutrally, ignoring the girl's pleas. "Do you think I'll pass up this chance to find out what you're hiding from me?"

Nanoha's shoulders slumped as she sighed. She took a step closer, and snaked her arms around the blonde's waist and up her spine as her cheek rested on the blonde's chest. Sweetly she spoke. 'I am not going anywhere. Please don't be like this. I'll return when I finish. I told you I'll explain everything when I return.'

"You've been telling me that constantly."

Nanoha pulled away in disapproval, her tone picking up a notch. 'Why don't you realize I'm saying this because I worry about you?'

"Don't." She grabbed Nanoha's bow from the wall and held it out for her. "I am strong. The two of us, we are stronger."

Nanoha's hesitant eyes were trained on her bow in the blonde's hold as if she didn't know what action to take. It was as if the inanimate object was taunting her, telling her to just grab her weapon and let her be. She could not win this one. She had to admit defeat this time.

She spoke without looking up. 'If you go with me, I'll constantly be worrying whether you are faring well.'

"Nanoha, has our training been so painless that I would die so easily? Besides, this scratch is already healed."

A scowl at those words. With displeasure, she grabbed her bow out of Fate's hand and placed it around her body. No, of course not. The sweat and blood that spilled over the years with much endurance and torture, how could a simple wound to the arm stop her? She stared at the cloak, covering the blonde's arm. Invisible to the eye, as if she was without damage.

Nanoha walked towards the door, her back facing the blonde, a smirk finally meeting that gaze. 'You have always been so stubborn.'

Fate grinned with a shrug. "Takes one to know one."

...

I know... there was a lot of talking in this chapter. Not much progress as I know many had hoped for. You all are probably wanting to bite my head off due to that. Sorry it is slow. I really do want to keep the pace to your liking, but plots don't have that in mind.

But I do hope that lemon scene in the beginning was to your liking at least? Or was it too fluffy and limey still? I know almost all of you guys wanted the lemon, so I tried including it in this chapter.

Thanks for reading! i hope you'll take the time to review! :)

My next update will be soon! I haven't written out anything, but since I don't want to anger anyone, lol, I hope to have it written out in less than a month, or sooner... I know! A month! Dang! She has got to be kidding, a month is like light years away! Haha, sorry, I like to dwell on my story a long time before i release it...

I even rewrote this whole chapter from start since I hated it! I even hated how there were so much talking, so it took longer since I didn't know if I wanted others to read it... but... I can't do anything about that. We shall suffer together!

Well thank you for letting me blabber on. Until next time!
