Whew, that's a lot! And yes, I do realize that it's my fault. Okay, just so everyone knows, part of this story is inspired by the Princess Diaries movie series, and you'll see that a lot in this chapter. So, I hope you guys enjoy and please review!
Alana stood in a field, targets put in front of her and Myrtenaster in her hand. She had been practicing Myrtenaster's abilities for a while now but she just couldn't hit the target right. Once again, she took aim and allowed the colors to spin until they landed on light blue. Her arm thrust forward as she felt her magic pulse through her body and went out Myrtenaster. Ice shot out the end but didn't hit the target. The princess groaned, frustration starting to grip her heart.
"Are you alright?" Alana turned to see Peter looking at her.
"No." She stated. Peter chuckled slightly at her blunt response, not expecting that from the quiet girl he had met only days ago. "I just can't seem to hit the target!" The princess confessed, "It makes me feel so useless!"
"Would you like me to help?" Peter offered, "You seem as if you could use it."
"Gee, what gave you that idea?" Alana snapped sarcastically before she covered her mouth with her hand in shock. She never used sarcasm before. That was Emma and another orphan the princess was close with named Anna who used it, not her! Peter simply chuckled at her embarassment and repeated his question. "Sure, I'd like the help." Alana said, sounding like her old self again. Peter nodded and walked over to her.
"Show me your position." He requested. Alana did so and Peter adjusted her arm holding Myrtenaster along with her back leg. Once she was in the correct position, Peter placed one of his hands over the hand holding Myrtenaster's handle and the other on her shoulder. "And...go." He whispered. Alana took a deep breath, ignored her ever faster racing heart, and allowed Myrtenaster to spin. The revolver landed on yellow and the princess pushed. Lightning shot out the end of the rapier and struck the target's bullseye. "You did it." Peter smiled down at her. Alana blinked in shock before she turned to Peter and smiled,
"Thank you."
"How about we test your skills with that rapier instead of your magic?" Peter suggested as he stepped away from her and unsheathed his own sword.
"Are you sure about that Peter?" Alana asked, her voice teasing. Just then, Susan and Lucy reached the field and the younger Pevensie cried,
"Do it, Lana! I want to see how you fight!" Alana laughed slightly at the girl before she grinned at Peter.
"Alright, you're on." The two began to circle each other before Peter charged. Alana raised Myrtenaster and blocked the blow. She jumped back slightly before she charged. Peter moved to swing at her and the girl bent over at her waist to avoid the hit. She then swiped at him but he pushed her rapier away so she wouldn't hit him. The two went back and forth until Peter pushed her to the ground.
"Looks like I win." He chuckled. Alana grinned and held up Myrtenaster, revealing the revolver spinning and landing on blue. Peter's eyes widened as she suddenly escaped at an almost inhumane speed.
"You were saying?" Alana asked. Peter turned around to see a ball of fire being sent at him. Quickly, he raised his sword to block the blow. He looked up and saw her revolver was on red, representing the fire. The girl spun and dug the rapier into the ground as the revolver turned to violet and Peter was launched off his feet as the earth below him rose. Peter could only look at the girl in amazement at her power. She then waved her hand and light wrapped around him, trapping him.
"I thought I said no magic." Peter said. Alana only giggled,
"You said no such thing."
"She's right." Susan added as she and Lucy moved to stand beside the princess. Peter shook his head at his sisters and friend as Alana removed the light bounding him.
Later that day, the three girls left their tent having heard something. They saw Peter looking at something and followed his gaze only to see Aslan and...
"Edmund!" Lucy cried, moving towards her brother only for Peter to stop her. Edmund and Aslan turned and finished their talk before they made their way to the four.
"What's done is done. There is no need to speak to Edmund about what is past." Aslan said before he walked away. Edmund looked down, refusing to meet his siblings and his friend's gazes.
"Hello." He said. Lucy smiled and hugged the young male Pevensie with Susan and Alana following suit.
"Are you alright?" Susan asked after a little while.
"I'm a little tired." Edmund admitted. Peter pointed at his tent and said,
"Get some sleep." Edmund pulled away from the girls and walked towards the tent when Peter added, "And Edmund...try not to wander off." Edmund smiled slightly at his brother before he walked into the tent to rest.
Later, the five friends sat around a table while Edmund stuffed his face with toast. He had changed into a tunic similar to Peter's and now all five looked as if they belonged in Narnia, though nymphs had braided actual white lilacs into her hair to symbolize her relation to Aslan, though the flowers meant innocence. Alana felt sorry for Edmund, as she was sitting beside him, rubbing his back to comfort him.
"Narnia's not going to run out of toast, Ed." Lucy teased.
"I'm sure they'll pack some for the journey back." Peter stated.
"What?" Alana gasped, staring at the future king in shock.
"We're going home?" Susan asked, sounding slightly disappointed. Alana counted that as a good thing, considering how much the older Pevensie wanted to leave when they first arrived.
"You are." Peter corrected, "I promised Mum I'd keep you three safe. But that doesn't mean I can't stay behind and help."
"But they need us. All five of us." Lucy protested.
"Peter, we aren't leaving you here alone." Alana insisted.
"Lucy, Lana, it's too dangerous." Peter argued, "The two of you almost drowned! Edmund was almost killed!" Alana started to open her mouth to argue when Edmund interjected,
"Which is why we have to stay." The four who had been guided by the beavers turned and looked at the ex-traiter. "I've seen what the White Witch can do. And I've helped her do it. And we can't leave these people behind to suffer for it." Lucy grabbed her brother's hand while Alana put her hand on his shoulder.
"Spoken like a true king." She smiled.
"Well, I suppose that's it then." Susan smiled as she stood up.
"Where are you going?" Peter asked. Susan picked up her bow and quiver before she turned back and smiled,
"To get in some practice." Lucy followed her sister and Alana stood up to follow when Edmund asked,
"By the way...Lana, what happened to your hair?"
"Eh...it's a long story, but I think Peter can explain it to you." The princess said, "Let's just say...I come from here." With that, she stood up, grabbed Myrtenaster and followed the girls.
The three girls were having fun practicing hitting targets in the same field where Alana and Peter had been for a while when Mrs. Beaver ran up.
"Susan! Alana! Lucy!" She cried as she ran up.
"Mrs. Beaver!" Lucy smiled in greeting.
"What's wrong?" Susan and Alana asked in unison upon seeing the female beaver's face.
"The Witch has demanded a meeting with Aslan. She's on her way here." Mrs. Beaver explained. The three girls shared a look before they took off running back to camp.
There's the chapter! I hope you guys enjoyed but seriously someone needs to tell me if I should just keep this as one story or if I should make it two. There's only 3 chapters left for the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe section so someone needs to tell me if Prince Caspian should be another story or just an extention of this one. Please review to let me know what you think (grandpadarkone, no more begging for updates! You can have any spoiler you want without the wedding (yes guys there will be a short (repeat short) wedding scene in the last chapter) so stop!). Later!
