Chapter 8: Chaos in Dressrosa (1)

"Sorry Doffy!" Trébol was wailing through the den den mushi. Sugar had lost conscious, and all the toys were turning back into their original forms. The many other den den mushis were ringing as well.

"Royal place! Please reply!" "Young Lord! Emergency reports are coming from everywhere."

"It's chaos, even in the coliseum." One of the soldiers commented.

Something was running towards the group. The one-legged soldier, Kyros, came running and sliced Doflamingo's head clean off his shoulders before attacking the other soldiers and Family members. Doflamingo's body fell limp on its knees onto the ground.

"Waka-sama!" "Father!"

"He only has one leg! How dare you do that to…Yaahun!" Buffalo yelled in pain as the one-legged soldier twisted his neck.

"Buffalo!" Baby 5 yelled.

"Torao!" Luffy came running towards Law with Violet. "I came to save you!"

"Strawhat! You're alive! You've got nothing to do here. What about the factory? Did you destroy it?"

Karin stood in front of Law and held up both arms towards Luffy. Luffy, who was running, bounced off an invisible wall just before Karin. Luffy leaped to his feet and touched the air in front of him. It was an invisible barrier. "I'm not letting you get any closer, Strawhat!" Karin was furious.

"Our Alliance is over, Strawhat. We are enemies again. If you release me, I'll kill you." Law was panting.

"Eh? You can't say that. I'm the one who decides, just shut up."

"Repel!" Karin pushed her hands forward. Luffy flew back a great distance. Violet only closed her eyes in fear, but opened them to realise she wasn't affected at all.

Luffy came running again, only to bounce off the barrier again. The third time he tried to charge at her, she shot a fireball at his direction, singeing his Hawaiian shirt.

"Why can you use fire? Did you steal Ace's Mera Mera fruit?" Luffy was upset.

Karin stuck her tongue out at him.

The ground around Doflamingo's headless body started to move. Pica was controlling the floors of the Throne room. "Fufufufu… You really manage to fool me..." Doflamingo's head spoke. "This is a really bad situation...I'll have to use the "birdcage"."

"You're creepy! How are you even alive!?"

"Shall I teach you how to cut heads?" Another Doflamingo came from behind and attempted to kick the one-legged man. "Like this!"

The real Doflamingo had appeared out of thin air. The headless one was just a puppet.

Karin dropped onto the floor just on time. Doflamingo's kick had sliced off the top half of the building. Kyro's head would have been chopped off too if Luffy didn't save him in time. Luffy rolled away, escaping from Doflamingo's attack by the skin of his teeth.

Doflamingo's puppet mirrored his attacks to attack Luffy who dodged.

"Gomu Gomu no…"

"Barrier…"

"Jet Gatling!" Luffy sent a rain of punches which Karin shielded Doflamingo from using her barrier skill.

The puppet sliced Luffy from behind and pushed him forward to get punched by Doflamingo's armoured Haki-imbued fist. Luffy slammed face first on the wall.

"King Riku, do you remember how you felt that night 10 years ago? When you slashed your people and burned down your peaceful town? That was nothing compared to the tragedy about to happen now. I'll let you escape. Pica! Throw out the intruders!"

The floor started shifting again. Luffy, Viola, Kyros and Law, who was still handcuffed and strapped to his chair, were thrown out of the window.

The puppet sat in the middle of the floor and strings came out from the neck where it's head should have been. The strings shot up high in the sky before curving down like the bars of a birdcage.

"Parasite."

Doflamingo spoke through a transponder snail that connected to the speakers in the town.

"Citizens of Dressrosa… and guests. I could've just ruled over you with terror from the start! Now that you know the truth, I'm sure many of you want to kill me. That's why I've prepared a "game". A game to kill me! I'm in the royal palace. I won't run or hide. If you manage to kill me, then of course, the game is over. But I've prepared another way to end the game. If you kill all the people that I'm about to name, then the game will be over. I'll also prepare a reward for every one of these people! Kill or be killed! All the people in this country are now "Hunters". If you want to save yourself, then you have no choice but to take someone's head! Nobody will come to save you. Nobody can escape this birdcage. It's impossible to call the outside. You will just die...and no one outside here will notice. You can run away and hide yourself. But there's no safe place within this "Birdcage"! This terror will go on endlessly. Will you all die first? Or will the game end first?"

Doflamingo had put a bounty on 12 heads. Different number of stars for each person. The citizens, together with the Donquixote Family, were after their heads. 1 star for a million beli.

"Nnneee Doffy, shouldn't we protect the Factory?"

"It won't open. It's made of kairoseki."

"You're really incompetent, Trébol. You couldn't even protect a young girl."

"Shut up Geezer! She's much older than an actual young girl!"

Sugar is actually 22, if Karin remembers correctly. Doflamingo sat on the ledge of the stone walls of the castle top. Karin sat beside him, his coat covering her shoulders. All the high ranking executives had gathered. Pica, Trébol, Diamante, Gladius, Baby 5, Lao G and a still unconscious Sugar.

"Nnee ne Doffy! I'm really sorry for Sugar! I didn't think that a man completely disabled was able to make her lose consciousness. Would you imagine that? Nnee." Trébol apologised.

"Same for the Mera-Mera fruit! How could I know that the No. 2 of the Revolutionary Army was participating in the tournament too?" It was Diamante's turn to apologise.

"Stop making excuses! You're just unsightly! Unsightly!" Lao G scolded.

"It's all in the past. Blaming you won't turn back time." Doflamingo assured his executives.

"Nneeeee! Our boss is so understanding! Behehehe! Shut up, Lao G!"

"If you say so I'll consider myself forgiven!"

"What do we do about that Marine Admiral Fujitora?" Karin asked.

"I've already talked to him. The Marine won't attack us. However, when I've finished using Fujitora, I'll make him vanish. I can't have him alive."

"Pirates and Marines... If you allow me to go all out. I'll be enough alone." Pica spoke.

"There's no need to hurry. You know, this game is the "Elections" that will decide the King. I've asked the people of Dressrosa. Who is worthy of being King? The Riku Family or the Donquixote Family? The people will decide their King. It's their right! We'll just crush anyone that shows up. And watch as people kill each other."

"That's complicated, Doffy."

"Huhu…" Someone tried to cover his laughter.

Doflamingo tightened his grip on Karin's arm as he, and the other executives, glared at that direction.

"Uwah! I'm sorry, Pica-sama! He's just a newbie! He was just taken by surprise! Wait, Pica-sama!"

Pica's death glare frightened the new guy. Baby 5's leg turned into a cannon and blew the man away and over the railing of the castle wall. "If you do it, not even his body will remain. It will be trouble for his family."

"I lost my Mother at 8. And killed my Father at 10." Doflamingo's sudden deadly aura sent shivers down the spines of the non-executives. He stroked Karin's hair. She relaxed at his touch. "The ones with the title "Executive" or above are my "Family", with whom I've shared joys and sorrows. They're the only thing I have! I won't forgive anyone who laughs at my Family. Understood?"

"YESSIR!" The men shouted in unison.

"Father, where is Mother?" Karin remembered a silver hand mirror that belonged. The mirror was a physical form of her parents' contract. It was beautiful. It had gems surrounding the centre mirror and little tiny mirrors in between them and a rose patterned handle. The result is a view of your face from every angle imaginable, except for behind your head.

"She should be on the way back from her visit to her own home." Doflamingo said. "Give me her mirror."

She drew an imaginary line vertically downwards, as though she was pulling a zip. A purple portal opened and Doflamingo put his hand inside to reveal the silver hand mirror.

"Dulcinea." The clear mirror turned foggy and the reflection of her mother appeared.

"Doffy. Karin!" Doflamingo faced the mirror to the empty space in front of the Family Executives. A purple cloud that had escaped from the mirror soon turned transparent, like glass, before finally materialising into a shape of a woman with pale white skin and red hair and eyes.

Sally was 3 metres tall. Her pale skin was like porcelain. Her shoulder-length red hair, parted to her left, seem to shimmer in the light. Red eyes filled with excitement and a tinge of bloodlust. Her lips had a smirk, showing off her confidence. She wore deep purple Flamenco dress with Sakura patterns, long sleeves and ruffles on the skirt. Black heels clacked on the stone floor as she touched the ground.

"Yo everyone! I'm back!"

"Sally!" "Sally-sama!"
