Chapter 9: The End

"It's the end I tell you!"

"It's just a play."

"Now it's a play but soon it will escalate and the staff of this school will bring us to our knees! No! We must fight back! We can't let them win this war! This generation is stronger, faster, and smarter, plus devilishly handsome... We can make them kneel and listen as their knees crack, then we will prove we are the true superiors!"

All the students in the cafeteria turned around to watch Killian make his speech atop one of the lunch tables. Emma was face palming and Neal had his head down. Somewhere from the back of the room they heard Liam groan and tell his brother to get down.

"You're all just going to go through with this evil plot?"

The kids shrugged and some nodded.

"Y'know what?" Emma stood up too. "He's right, not about the knee cracking thing, but the school can't force is to do this. If you want to sit around with your tail between your legs then fine, but I'm going to fight back. Are any of you willing to join me?"

"Yeah!" Some kids shouted.

"Good, we'll all meet at the gym during your study hall Monday. Make sure to bring your war face."

3 Hours Earlier...

Cora couldn't help but grin about her idea. It was such a great plan and she knew it would weaken the kids' will. She took a seat in her office chair and got ready for the morning announcements.

"Good morning students! I have one exciting announcement for you all today and before anyone get their hopes up, no, a guest speaker will not come in to pull you from class to talk about things you already know."

She heard a collective groan come from the halls.

"During your 7th period class today, I want you all to meet in the auditorium. I have talked to Dr. Hopper and we believe it would be good for the school to put on a theater production to raise some money for the school and to bring the students closer. Your attendance is mandatory today but you don't have to be an actor. However, you will be required to take some role of help whether it be make-up or stagehand. With that said, have a wonderful day."

The entire school erupted with screaming from the students. She leaned back in her chair and laughed. It was good to be bad.

"Excuse me?"

She stopped laughing and sat up to come face to face with someone she thought she'd never see again.

"You're awake!"

"Yeah, it's good to see you again Principle Mills."

"Same. Jeez, it's been a long time."

"Not for me." He said with an awkward laugh.

"Sorry, didn't think of that. What are you doing here?"

"Well, I wanted to finish high school. I handed in my papers to Mrs. Blanchard, I thought she told you."

"Well she didn't." She responded dryly and made a mental note to talk to the woman afterwards. She opened a drawer to check for any new papers.

"Oh, here's your schedule."

He reached out and took it and even smiled a bit when he saw all of his old teachers were still there.

"Thanks."

"No problem. Wait, let me write you a pass before you go. You know how crazy Mr. Zoso is about that"

She scribbled on a sticky note and gave it to him.

"Welcome back."

"A play? Seriously?"

"What? I think it's a good idea."

"Kathryn, you're bound to get a lead role. Of course you like the idea."

"I don't know Regina, You're pretty good too. Right Malef?"

"I guess, although, unless they do a horror play, I'm not too excited about the idea myself."

She looked over to the clock in the girl's bathroom and sighed. 7th period was only a few minutes away. Only a few minutes until her fate would be decided. Regina finished checking herself and put her backpack on.

"I'm going to head down there."

"And go early to you're doom?"

"The sooner it's over, the better." She retorted.

She stepped into the auditorium. Only a few kids were there already along with Dr. Hopper and her parents. She sighed as she made her way down the aisle to a seat up front.

"I just can't wait to hear all about this wonderful new adjustment. I bet it- umph!" She was muttering to herself but it was interrupted once she bumped into another student and dropped all of her books.

"Sorry."

"It's fine really."

They both bent down and he handed over the books he gathered.

"Thanks." She looked up and caught his gaze. She had never seen him before yet he seemed incredibly familiar.

"I bumped into you, it's only right I help clean up my mess." He gave her a warm smile and she did have to admit that he was kinda cute.

"And they said chivalry is dead."

"Nah, just endangered by the douche bags of the world."

She laughed a bit but quickly stopped when she caught her mother staring at them.

"Well, see you around." She gave him a small wave and darted over to her mom.

"What?"

"Hmm?"

"You were staring."

"Sorry. I was watching him more than you."

"Why? Who is he?"

"New student." Was all she said before running off to meet Dr. Hopper.

Dr. Hopper wrapped up his speech midway through 7th period. When he was done, all the kids clapped not because he was inspirational or moving but because he finally stopped talking.

"And now I give the mic to Principal Mills."

"I'm sure you're all wondering what play we will be doing this year so let me ease your mind. We'll be having a mystery vote. In my hands are two envelopes. Each of you will either raise your hand for envelope one or two and which ever gets the most votes will be the one we do."

Murmurs went through the crowd.

"Okay everyone, who wants to put their faith in envelope one? … Alright, who wants envelope two?"

More kids raised their hands so she threw the first one over to her husband who opened it and chuckled.

"You all voted out High School Musical."

Cheers and claps came from the crowd and Cora opened the chosen one.

"The play this year will be..."

Students got up at the edge of their seats, anxiously waiting for the principal to announce the name. Killian started tapping on his seat to initiate a drum roll, soon, all the kids were tapping along with him.

"Romeo and Juliet."

The room got dead silent but a few seconds later, all the girls started screaming with glee, some guys cheered and some groaned. Dr. Hopper pumped his fist and Cora shrugged.

"Just remember, you are the ones who chose this!"

Kathryn quickly turned to her friends.

"O.M.G.! I so want the role of Juliet, It is like every girl's dream to be her.!"

"I want to be the apothecary that gives the poison to kill Romeo." Maleficent said more to herself.

Regina sighed and looked over at where Robin was sitting.

"Guys, please, we all know the 'lovely' couple of Robin and Marian will be Romeo and Juliet."

Kathryn sighed and Maleficent shrugged.

"As long as I get to kill someone, I'm good."

"Well if I can't be Juliet, I at least want a good role; like Lady Capulet."

"Yeah, the ladies aren't bad."

The trio shrugged at each other and followed the rest of the students to the sign-up sheet. They all chose to tryout for a role instead of being a stage hand. Of course, all the other kids chose acting over labor. Even the new kid chose to participate. She tried looking away when he caught her gaze but she wasn't quick enough. He gave her a sweet smile and walked away. As she watched him go, Maleficent slapped a hand on her back and pulled her away so the trio could go rendezvous with other popular kids.

It was complete chaos. All the kids in the school scrambled to get up to the bulletin board to read off the list. The auditions were Friday giving Dr. Hopper the entire weekend to cast the play and put up the list on Monday. Which was today. Snow pushed through the crowd, her small body helping as she navigated through the teenage bodies. One kid who she believed to be Felix, shoved her forward and right into the wall. Once she shook herself off, she looked up at the board and quickly read off the names in her mind. She didn't even make it halfway. Once she saw the second name on the list, she squealed in delight and ran off to find her friends; completely forgetting to see where her own name was. She sprinted down the hallway and straight into the cafeteria where the Mills sisters were hanging out with their friends.

"DID YOU GUYS SEE THE LIST?!" She yelled, using up the little breath she had left. The girls just stared at their heaving companion before one spoke up.

"The crowd was too big, we're going to wait until first period." Zelena said with the others nodding to confirm it. This just made Snow squeal even more.

"What is wrong with you?" Regina asked and took a bite out of her breakfast.

"I don't know, JULIET."

Out of reflex, Regina gasped but then started choking on the apple she was eating while all the girls turned to her with stunned faces, no one bothering to ask if she was okay. Her face turned red and she started banging her fist on her chest. Finally, she got enough apple out to breathe.

"What?" She croaked.

"You got the lead role!"

All the girls stood up to hug and congratulate their friend who was still red in the face. Once that moment was over they quickly switched to hounding Snow to find out their roles.

"Who am I?"

"Tell me first!"

"Who the hell is my Romeo?"

"Guys!" Snow shouted. They quieted down and waited for her to continue.

"I didn't check anyone else's name except for the leads."

"Then who's Romeo?!"

They all turned to Regina. She was trying not to get her hopes up that it would be Robin because so far, every attempt at getting close to him got quickly squashed and nothing would be more romantic to play the star crossed lovers.

"Uh, I don't remember..."

"What?!"

"Well we have our first practice today, I'm sure you find out then."

Regina huffed dramatically and threw herself down on the table's bench. No wonder she got the role. Snow thought to herself.

"Great, I have to wait the whole day!" She sighed and put her head in her hands.

"Over dramatic much?" Maleficent teased.

"Aren't you dying to know what role you got?"

The blonde reached up and pressed to fingers to her pulse point. The girls stared at her as a minute passed and she put her hand down.

"Nope."

Her friends rolled their eyes and Snow giggled but quickly turned it into a cough when she got an evil glare from the sisters. She coughed as best as she could (which wasn't very good) and started fanning herself with her hand. All the girls jumped up to help and ask if she was okay. Well, all except Regina who threw her hands in the air and looked at traitors with disbelief.

"Don't make that face dear, or else it'll get frozen that way." Her mother murmured as she passed by.

"Hey mom?"

"Yes Zelena?"

The red head put her hand on her little sister's shoulder.

"Who got the role of Romeo?"

The older woman thought about it. Her face forming into a focused one as the girls started leaning in in anticipation. Seconds went by as Cora thought hard about it. Her old brain trying hard to remember. Then, she shrugged and walked away. They all groaned and face palmed.

"Swan!"

"Killian." She groaned.

He jogged up to her with a bright smile on his face. She wanted to walk away from him but her locker was right there and she needed her biology book. He slammed his fist down on the purple metal (causing her to jump back a bit) and leaned against it.

"Guess who I am in the play."

"A civilian."

"Try Sampson."

Emma stopped midway of opening her lock. A grin grew on her face and she laughed.

"What?" He asked, his face full of concern. He never read the script so he couldn't tell if his role was good or bad.

"Please tell me Neal got Gregory." She said between laughs. He thought back and slowly started nodding.

"I do believe he did."

This just caused her to laugh harder.

"Why? What's so funny?"

She got a hold of herself and took a deep breath.

"Sampson and Gregory are two knuckle heads that mess around throughout the play. Basically, you guys got the perfect roles!"

"Really?" He asked with another smile.

"Trust me, you have nothing to worry about."

"Well its going to be a big role right?"

"Uh, sure." She pulled out her book and closed the locker. He pumped his fist and was practically overflowing with joy. He got a good role in his first play. His mom would be so proud and he might win back the heart of Milah and maybe even get some attention from Emma. The blonde just rolled her eyes and smirked. To think, just a few days ago he had been outraged and declared that his rights were violated and now he was all excited.

"You're still going to that meeting today right?"

He stopped from mentally telling himself that he was awesome to try and figure out what she was talking about. When the memory came back he nonchalantly shrugged.

"Sure."

"Sure? Dude you were standing on a table and yelling at everyone before, what happened?"

He scratched his head and looked away.

"Well its just that Mr. Gold called my mom and told her about all the trouble I was getting into which made her decide to take away my Xbox until I turned myself around. I figured if I did this it might convince her to give it back." He confessed, embarrassed.

"Its just an Xbox."

He gave her a look of disbelief.

"Just an Xbox? No it is the very thing that allows me to play out my fantasies." When she gave him a confused look he added, "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag."

"Oh!"

"Yeah."

"Jeez Killian, you really need to get a life." She said and strolled off.

"Hey babe, do you think you can drive me to my doctor's appointment this weekend?"

Robin was too busy thinking to hear Marian's question. His mind was still on the auditions last week that he did exceptionally well on if he did say so himself. The role he got was really good too. Aside from himself, there was one person who caught his eye. That sophomore Regina was quite the actress. He could tell she really deserved the part of Juliet.

"Robin?"

"Hmm?"

"I was asking if you could drive me to my doctor's appointment Saturday."

"Oh yeah, sure."

He mentally groaned. Once more he'd have to drive around his girl and lose some time with the guys. He didn't mind spending time with her, he just didn't like constantly spending time with her. As they walked through the halls, he caught a glimpse of Regina and smiled in her direction. However, before she could see it, her friends quickly ushered her to their next class. Oh well, maybe another time.
