Also a drabble from tumblr that you missed out on if you don't have one or don't follow me on there. Oh and I wanna say a very special hello to my troll(s). Hope you find something inane to negatively criticize. And for the rest of you, I hope you enjoy. Oh one more thing. I was going to participate in QW15 but I don't really like the themes. I might do Fantasy and Quinntana at work but other than that I don't think I wanna do the other ones, so be on the lookout for those.
Have a great day everyone, and remember this; Human ignorance knows no bounds, so our compassion must be boundless.
In the kitchen, making a very unhealthy cup of hot chocolate, Quinn shakes her head. Her girlfriend has the body of a goddess but eats like a growing twelve year old boy. Not to mention the amount of calories and sugar in this cup. She lifts the transparent mug eye level to make sure it's just the right amount of marshmallow to beverage ratio when she hears Santana giggling like a mad woman. The TV isn't on and they're home alone so she shakes her head again.
Satisfied with the drink she walks out into the living room of their decent sized New Orleans loft and shakes her head a third time. Her twenty eight year old girlfriend is practically dying of laughter while playing with a set of matryoshkas dolls painted to look like pandas. She is the middle of laughing hysterically when Quinn takes the seat next to her on their way-too-expensive Abbot couch.
"What the hell are you laughing at?"
Santana wipes at her eyes that are now watery from her over zealous laughing. "These are so funny when you take them apart." She puts them all back together then starts taking them apart again, still laughing.
"What is so funny you weirdo?" Quinn asks. She sits the mug on the distressed metal coffee table, right next to Santana's new toys.
"Seriously, take them apart, the last one is the funniest." She puts them all together the hands it to Quinn. Her eyes light up when she realized her hot chocolate had arrived. Quinn holds the stupid wooden panda while holding back a laugh. One sip in and Santana already has melted marshmallow on her lip and nose.
"You have a little . . . " she takes the white stuff off her girlfriend's nose with her thumb and sticks it in her mouth.
"Take them apart."
"Okay…" she's pretty sure she won't find this a fraction as amusing as Santana, but she'll humor her.
She takes the top of the biggest panda off as Santana continued her sipping and giggling. When she put the pieces on the table Santana acts as if she's committed a crime.
"No! You have to put them back together and line them up. It's part of the charm, trust me, I'm the expert here."
She just gives Santana a dirty look, rolls her eyes, and puts the first toy back together before sitting it on the table.
"I can't believe I like you." Her tone holds no humor. Santana just laughs harder.
"Go on!"
Quinn takes the second one out and Santana is still giggling.
"Look at them! They're little pandas." She starts laughing harder.
At this point Quinn is beyond confused. She just can't understand how Santana is getting this much enjoyment.
"Okay, they're kinda fun but they aren't crack up worthy you lunatic." Her eyes roll again. She gets to the last one and there's a ring sitting on top of cotton. It has a simple round diamond on a white gold band. Immediately a tear falls from her eye and her jaw drops open. They've been together four years but have only had one conversation about marriage. It began and ended with Santana discussing her terrible upbringing with two parents who were married but hated each other, and how she never ever wants to get married. Quinn was okay with that; she didn't feel the need to make it legal to have forever. She stares at the ring with so much shock she almost doesn't hear Santana's next words.
"Getting down on one knee with a ring box just didn't seem to suit me…us." A deep breath accompanies her pause as she sits her mug back down. "It took me weeks to think of a way to make sure the ring wouldn't rattle when you were taking them apart. I think I stalled because I was so nervous that my brain wasn't functioning, or maybe I was just subconsciously putting it off. I don't know."
Quinn finally tears her eyes away to looks at her girlfriend who has water in her eyes for a much different reason.
"But I do know," Santana grabs the ring and holds it in between them. "that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And if you agree, then I promise to spend the rest of my life attempting to make you a fraction as happy as you've made me. And if I succeed, you'll be the second happiest person on earth. Quinn, will you marry me?"
Rendered speechless, after a few more tears and a nod of the head, Santana slipped the ring on her finger and leaned in for a kiss.
In the back of her mind, as her lips moves against her fiancé's, she hopes that Santana doesn't think a panda themed wedding would be a good idea. She smiles into the kiss at the thought and pushes Santana to lie flat. When she pulls away, she looks down at her and wonders how in the world she got so lucky.
