I do not own Harry Potter...only the plot.
(A/N: I apologize for not having updated in so long. Been a very busy summer for me. However, I will begin updating, hopefully, every week or so. Hope you all can forgive me! And enjoy this chapter!)
The talk they had in the Weasley went well. Ginny told Hermione and Draco what had exactly happened between Ron and their mom. Mrs. Weasley was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that her youngest son had cheated on Hermione. It was such a burden, she had said. After a couple hours, they had left and went back to each their respective houses planning on meeting outside The Three Broomsticks on Saturday before their children got there.
Saturday came around quickly. Hermione had been wringing her hands all day. They were starting to hurt. She looked down at her hands and then sat down on the bench outside of The Three Broomsticks waiting for Draco. She took a deep breath and looked up at the sound of a pop. There stood Draco before her. He smiled at her and she returned the smile.
It's going to be a good day. I believe the kids will take it well. Hermione thought to herself.
Draco sat down by her. He breathed a sigh of relief. It had been a long week for him. But thankfully his marriage was over. Astoria hadn't fought much. She knew he wouldn't go back to her no matter what. She had received five million Galleons, which didn't even put a dent in the Malfoy fortune. He was fine with how it had turned out. That was all she had received also. She had moved in with her sister as soon as they had filed for divorce.
He told her what all had happened over the week and how he was filing for custody of Scorpius the following Monday. She told him how her divorce process was going slower than his but that her lawyer had informed her that it should be finished by the end of next week and then the custody battle could begin.
Before long, she saw Professor McGonagall coming along with their children. She stood and met them halfway. Rose and Hugo both embraced her. Draco had stood also and was now giving Scorpius a little hug. They all parted at the same time. The kids had a questioning look in their eyes.
"I'll be in the Hog's Head whenever you need me." Professor McGonagall said as she walked away. They all watched her go.
"Okay. So, Mum, why did you need to meet with us? And with the Malfoys of all people." She sneered the last part.
"Rosalie Weasley! You be nice. They're here because what I'm going to tell you two has to do with the same situation so we decided to tell you all at the same time." Hermione said.
Rose gave her a weird look and turned to enter the tavern. Hugo looked up at his mum and said, "Mummy, is something wrong with Daddy?"
Draco saw Hermione try to hide her grimace when he asked that. "No. Nothing is wrong with him. But it does involve him. Now, come along, dear. Let's get inside." They both went in with Hermione looking over her shoulder at him. He held up one finger to let her know he would be in in just a minute.
He then turned to his son. Scorpius already had a knowing look on his face. Before he could get a word out, his son spoke. "This is about Mum, isn't it? About why she's been secretive and hiding parchment and everything. Am I right, Dad?"
Draco was about to lie to him but he knew he couldn't. His shoulders sagged. "Yes, Son. It's about that. Come on. Let's go in here with Hermione and her kids." With that, both of them went and sat down with Hermione and her children.
*2 hours later*
They had just sent their children back with Professor McGonagall.
"Well, I wasn't expecting that." Hermione said. Draco looked over at her and saw tears running down her face. "I thought that once Rose heard what her father had done she would see why she needed to stay with me. But, she blames me!" She rounded on Draco at that moment. "Can you believe that?! She says I'm to blame for him cheating on me! She still wants to live with him! I can't…I just…I don't get it!" She said while throwing her hands in the air and stomping off toward the end of Hogsmeade.
Draco followed her. He thought back to the conversation. The boys had taken it pretty well. Hugo had said he didn't want to see his father again. Scorpius had said the same thing about his mum. But Rose? Well, you heard what Hermione just said. He couldn't believe Rose had said that. She definitely had her father's temper and grudges. The last thing Rose had said to her mother was that she needs to watch who she hangs out with because the Malfoys were nothing but scum and evil.
He saw that she had stopped and came up to her and put his arm around her.
"I just don't understand, Draco. It's all just so confusing." She whispered.
"I know, Hermione. But it will all be okay in the end." He said back.
She looked up at him and then circled her arms around his waist. He stood there for a moment before wrapping his arms around her. He kissed the top of her head and then they both stood there while taking in this quiet, peaceful moment between the two of them.
