Ch.9 Never Forget

Kurt didn't move for weeks, he lay in his bed motionless. On the other side of the ship Ryan sat behind a large desk, he was reading several data pads and had a video feed of Kurt as he lied in his bed, "He's not getting any better." Ryan thought himself. Ryan heard knocking on his door, he called them in. Two guards walked and an Elite in purple armor and a long purple cap walked in behind them. Ryan quickly stood up, "Fleet Master, I didn't know you were aboard." The Fleet Master walked over to the window overlooking the planet, as several ships flew to the and from the planet. "I came to ask about the child you're so interested in; you've went through a lot of trouble to get the adapter for him." Ryan was shocked to see the Fleet Master in his office and asking about the Kurt, Ryan cleared his throat "He's an interesting person and his abilities could be very useful." The Fleet Master turned away from the window, "With respect, ONI never has a plan that's simple." The Fleet Master stared straight into Ryan's eyes, "So what do you plan to with the child?"

Ryan was surprised an Elite cared what humans did with our own, "I'm surprised you care what we do with him." The Fleet Master didn't seem to react to Ryan's comment, "I'm not sure why but he reminds me of a friend of mine." The Fleet master said as he turned to stare at the planet, Ryan wasn't sure how to react to what the Fleet master comment, "Alright, right now he's in a state of isolation." The fleet master turned to stare at Ryan, "What do you mean?" Ryan sat I his chair and picked up a data pad and reed a his report he was going to send to Earth, "three weeks ago he awake despite being under medication and later his "family" or AI fragments that act as his family, told him the closest thing he had to a parent he has ever had is dead." The fleet master turned back to the window, "I think I know someone who can help you get him out of the state he is in." Ryan looked up to the Fleet master, "You know someone who can help him?" The Fleet master stood for a moment before answering, "yes I do, She has been through a lot in her life. So maybe she could help him out of it." Ryan wasn't sure what to think about this turn of events but was willing to try, "alright, let's see you your friend can help,"

After two day Ryan sat in his office wounding if the fleet master's friend could help, Ryan simply hoped the elite whoever she is would get Kurt out of his isolation. As he thought his phone rang, he picked up the phone answer, "yes what is it?" A man replied, "Sir the fleet master and his guest are here and wished to meet you at the lower portside medical wing." Ryan gripped his personal data pad and headed out of the room. He headed throw hallways and had to take two elevators to reach the lower portside medical wing. When he arrived he was surprised to see a section three ONI officer talking to the Fleet Master, he was allow surprised to see the fleet master friend was in red armor, and they both had translator around her neck. Ryan straightened himself and walk to the ONI officer, "I was unaware that ONI sent another officer here or that section three had any interest." The officer turn to looked Ryan, "normally we wouldn't be with in survivors of ship crashes, but this ship had same agents aboard that were carrying sensitive information and the child has some traits that interest us."

The ONI officer explained how the child's blood tests showed his as tresses of the Spartan augmentation process and section three what's to know how this is possible. The fleet master was concerned about this but stayed now task, after a few minutes talking agreed on how to approach the situation and how to use the adapter. The first step would be getting Kurt out of his isolation state. Ryan looked at the fleet master "I hope your friend can help him." The fleet master turned to the other elite, "you remember what I told you." The elite looked at the fleet master "yes I'm here to get him out a state of isolation." The ONI officer nodded and walked out of the room, "I'll leave so you a work without any distractions." Ryan fallowed the officer out of the room, the fleet master was about to head out as with the others, "I called you here because he's trained himself all his life in the hopes of saving a member of his family only to learn that she had died, and you had to deal with a similar experience, I have faith in you." After every one left the elite walked the observation room, the room was empty with a microphone on a panel in the middle of the room. She walked over to the microphone; there was a single button under the mic. She thought about why her cousin would needed her for this, but she was grateful for being called off world for anything even if it small things, she then cleared her throat as got ready to speak to Kurt.

"Hello, my name is Rha' Grioto I've heard you came from the planet below." She said into the mic, Kurt didn't move. Rha watched carefully "I heard about your fight against the brutes," Kurt still didn't react, Rha continued, "I know how it feels to work so hard for so long and only fail at the end." Kurt reacted the comment and turned is head to face the window on the far end of the room. Rha was surprised she gone a reaction so quickly. She decided to push on, "I was told you fight hard and killed many of the brutes, for a family member." His eyes fell to the floor and tears began to form, "you say you know how I feels, have you ever got up every day waiting of others to come and take you see other worlds and save to your mother, only to find out if was for nothing that they couldn't do anything and she died anyways." Rha stared at him not sure on what to say, but she knew she had to keep going before he lock up again.

A few hours went by as Rha tried to get him to get out of his isolation, for most of the time it went back and forth but she finally got him to start talking on his own and not just in replaying to her comments or questions, now Rha wasn't sure want to talk about everything she had thought about earlier was used, "I've done most of the taking, why don't you ask me something?." She asked, Kurt hesitated on replying but finally replied, "How are the other worlds, I've only seen them through pictures I found hidden back home." He looked at the window waiting for a response. She thought about the other worlds she's been to, she had only left Sanghelios to take special training, and she then told him "I've never had to think about that before, I would say they each have their own beauty." Kurt thought about that for a while as she explained some worlds she'd been to.

Kurt realized he was sitting up was leaning over to the bed and almost fell out of the bed, he pushed himself back so he would not fall, His mind rushed with questions he wanted to know, "I have a question." He said I a low voice, Rha focused on Kurt, "what is it?" He took a second to reply, "Mother told me about the war." He posed for a second to see if Rha replied, "Is the war over or am I going to have to fight?" he asked, Rha was caught off guard with that question. She didn't know how to answer the question; the Elites had a different experience with the war then the humans. She thought on how to answer and finally replied, "The war is over, and in the final days of the war the elites were betrayed by the brutes and in the mist of this the human and elites worked together to defeat the brutes." Kurt thought to himself trying to recall what elite were, "are the elite good guys then?" he asked as he tilted his head. Rha's mind raced, "he really doesn't know anything outside that planet." she thought it herself then answered, "yes, and they are an honorable race of warriors."

Daemon and Jade watched the elite speak with Kurt and were wiry about letting a former covenant member speak to him, but didn't do anything because Kurt was finally out of his depression. "You think, we should say something" Daemon asked Jade, "normally I would say yes but this time is different." She replied, Daemon wasn't liking have the elite speak but did understand what Jade meant, so he just crossed his arms and bit his tongue. Jade watched the elite carefully trying to figure out anything about the creature. Meanwhile in a room only a few walls away Ryan, the fleet master and the ONI officer watching how Kurt was acting through a camera, "she's finally got him talking on his own, that's good." The ONI officer said, Ryan didn't respond his simply typed notes in to his data pad, The Fleet master eyed Kurt watching his reactions, he thought the child it doesn't seem to be like the other human he met, who have shown little emotion around elites and did what they could to minimize their time with them. "He has gotten better, much faster than I thought he would." The other nodded in agreement "what will happen now?" Ryan looked at the fleet master, "first some tests to see what he can do physically then I think he would be useful in the Arena."
