Chapter 9: Flying lessons
"The old man must have gone senile! They let a ghost teach history? I mean, I heard about it but I didn't believe it." said Draco angry. Katelyn sighed. She had to admit, letting a ghost teach was probably not the best idea. When they got to history, she was so excited to learn more about the history of the magical world, but this subject was a complete disappointment. After fifteen minutes, she decided that she just is going to read the books and completely ignores the teacher. "I almost slept in." said Blaise, while they made their way to the DADA room. "Goyle did sleep." said Crabbe. Goyle grinned dumbly. "I hope this Quirrell is not such a douchebag like Binns." said Draco. "Yeah, that would suck. Hey Kate, you said you already read a bit in the books. What do you think will we learn first?" said Pansy. I think the first thing were doing is writing down a lot of stuff. But I don't think that's what she wants to hear. "Probably something like the Smokescreen Spell." The girl snorted. "Thats lame. I thought we would learn something more fun. I want to hex some Gryffindorks." Draco grinned mischievously. "Sounds like a plan. Let's do this when we learn something more useful."

Katelyn sighed, while she let herself fall into the big couch before one of the fires in the Common Room. "Seriously, what's with the teachers in this school. Don't they have any money to employ proper ones?" said Draco when he sat down beside her. Katelyn noticed that he barely let her sit with anyone else, but she didn't mind. She liked it having someone caring about her. "Yeah, I have to admit, that was a rather disappointing day." said Katelyn exhausted. "I don't think I stay up much longer." Crabbe and Goyle, who sat across Katelyn, both looked at a newspaper. "What are you doing? Are you two actually...reading?" asked Draco in disbelief. Crab looked up. "Look at that, Draco. Someone broke into Gringotts." Draco took the newspaper away from them and read the article. "Someone broke into Vault 713, but it was already emptied. Well I guess they also had a shitty day." Then he threw the newspaper back to the two boys. Wait. Wasn't that the vault where Hagrid and I went to? "Something else...I heard that the professor who teaches Astronomy is completely mad." said Blaise. Draco frowned. "Great, another useless teacher." said Pansy, while she stood up. "I'm going to bed guys. See you tomorrow." She looked at Katelyn as if she was waiting for her. "W-What?" The girl rolled her eyes. "When I say I'm going to bed, than that means we go to bed." Katelyn stood up. "A-Alright." said the girl confused. "Night, guys." said Katelyn and followed Pansy.

"What's up with you and Draco? You're always together." said the other girl when she finished brushing her teeth. "W-What do you mean?" said Katelyn confused. "Your always sit besides him, you always walk besides him, you almost only speak when he talks to you. Do you know now what I mean?" Katelyn shrugged. "And what was that after class, when I said I need to go to the toilet?" Did I miss something? "S-Sorry, but I really don't get it." said Katelyn confused. Pansy groan annoyed. "You didn't go with me." Katelyn looked at the other girl, now even more confused. "Was I supposed to go with you?"
Pansy made a strange face. "Of course you were. Girls always go together to the bathroom." Yeah, the problem is I'm not a girl. Well, technically I'm a girl right now, but that's just temporarily. "Why?" Pansy shrugged. "Don't know, I guess so we can talk and stuff. And why do you allow Draco to touch you all the time?" What the hell? "He doesn't touch me all the time." protested the smaller girl. "Of course he does. You can't allow that." said Pansy, while she put her toothbrush and paste back into her sponge bag. "Why? Isn't that normal for friends?" Pansy turned around and looked at her with the most confused expression she had ever seen. "No, it's not normal. You can't allow boys to do something like that. Why don't you know stuff like that?" Katelyn went still. Keep calm. Don't panic. Just find an excuse.
"Whats up?" said Pansy when she noticed her silence. "Y-You know, I didn't really have many friends when I lived with my relatives. Actually I had none. I guess you learn that sort of stuff from your friends." said Katelyn smoothly. "Actually, most of this stuff I learned from my mum." said Pansy now with an warmer voice. "And why is it not normal for boys to touch me?" asked Katelyn. "I don't know actually. Mom told me it's important to look out for. She said I would understand when I get older." If this is what girls do, then I guess I just go along. "Okay. Then I will look out for that from now on. Anything else I need to know?" The other girl thought for a moment. "Cross your legs when you sit down somewhere and you have a skirt on, have at least one other girl with you when you're walking around with a group of boys and never give your wand away. I guess that are the most important things. I tell you if I notice something else." Wow. Girls have to look out for a lot of things. "O-Okay. I try to remember that. Thanks Pansy." The girl smiled at her.

Katelyn sat with her group in the great hall. Lunch was almost over. "I can't wait for flying! One of the second years told me that Madam Hooch is a great teacher." said Draco exited. "I thought you already learned to fly, Draco." said Blaise. "Yes, but in school it's so much more fun. I'm going to show those Gryffindors what real flying looks like." Katelyn signed. Why is he always so competitive when it comes to Gryffindors? Then she felt a hand on her left shoulder. "What about you Katelyn, aren't you excited?" She looked at the hand and then at Draco, then she reached out for the hand and put it from her shoulder. "What's the problem?" asked Draco confused. "Pansy told me it's not okay for boys to touch girls." said Katelyn simply. "Uhm...okay." said the blonde confused. "Draco I think if you get too excited about flying, then you will just get disappointed. It was the same with Herbology and Astronomy." said Blaise. "I wasn't really disappointed in those subjects. I just was surprised that they are more boring than I even thought they were." Well, he's right with that. "Come on guys, let's get moving. I don't want to be late." said Draco, while he stood up.

"Good afternoon class" said the older woman while she passed the students, who had line up. "Good afternoon Madam Hooch" said the students in a chor. "Welcome to your first flying lesson. Well, what you're waiting for? Everybody step up to the left side of their broomstick." She waited until the students stood in position. "Stick your right hand over the broom and say 'Up'." That's everything? "Up!" The broom landed right in Katelyn's hands. Wow. That was easy. "Up!" said the boy besides her. Draco's also had his broom in his hand and grinned overconfidently, like he normally does. The other students struggled with their broom. "With feeling." said Madam Hooch.
"Now, once you got hold of your broom, I want you to mount it." The students mounted their brooms. "And grip it tight. You don't want to be sliding of the end. When I blow my whistle, I want each of you to kick of the ground hard. Keep your brooms steady, hover for a moment, then lean forward slightly and touch back down. On my whistle, three, two." Then she blew the whistle. Katelyn kicked of the ground and hovered in the air, when she looked to her right she saw Draco doing the same thing. "Help me! I can't control it!" screamed a Gryffindor girl and shot up in the air. "Stay calm! You have to stay calm!" shouted Madam Hooch out to the girl. Suddenly she lost the grip of her broom and fell from what seemed like 20 feet down. When she hit the ground the was a loud crack and the girl creamed in pain. Thank god that wasn't me. The professor ran to the chubby girl and helped her slowly up.
"Oh dear, it's a broken wrist." She took a hand around the girls hip and walked slowly with from the field. "Everyone keeps their feet firmly on the ground, while I take Ms. Mirfield to the hospital wing. Understand?" She looked at the Slytherins. "If I see a single broom in the air, the one riding it will find himself out of Hogwarts before they can say quidditch." Draco had a mischievous grin on his face. "Did you see her face? Maybe if her mudblood mother did teach her flying, than she would have remembered to fall on her fat ass." The Slytherins laugh, even Katelyn had to laugh a bit.
"Shut up Malfoy." Draco turned around to see Ron Weasley stand before him. "What's the problem, Weasley? Did I insult your future wife?" The boy pulled out his wand. "Say that again, Malfoy." Draco jumped a bit back. This is not good. Fuck! What do I do? Katelyn also pulled out her wand and pointed it at Ron. "Don't try it." said she calmly. Now another girl pulled her wand and pointed it at Katelyn. "Leave Ron alone!" shouted Hermione. Ron grinned and straightened his wand, ready to curse Draco. Shit. I have to do something! "Flipendo!" the girl flew backwards into the group of Gryffindors and dropped her wand. Ron turned to face her but it already was to late. "Flipendo!" shouted Katelyn again and Ron also flew backwards and dropped on the ground. Draco laughed. "Good job, Kate. But I think Weasley needs an extra lesson." He walked over to the boy, who laid still on the ground and pointed his wand at him. "Mucus Ad Nauseam." The read headed boy immediately started to sneeze. "Have fun with the cold." He walked back to Katelyn and grinned at her. "I think we're finished here."
