"Seriously, Clarissa. I picked out so many great clothes and you managed to pick the most boring ones." Jonathan scolds her.
"I feel uncomfortable if clothes are too skin-revealing." She replie back.
"I don't." He laughs a little and Clarissa punches him in the arm playfully.
He stopped in front of a building. It's called Pandemonium.
"What are we doing here, Jonathan?" She wonders what this place is. Judging by the crowd of people trying to get in that it's a club.
"We're here to party, now put on a smile and try to look sexy. Oh forget about trying. You already are." Jonathan is always teasing Clarissa this way. That's nothing new. Clarissa only rolls her eyes and objects.
"They're not going to let me in. I'm too young."
"You're with me. Believe me, little sis, they're going to let you in." They finally reach the guard and Jonathan arranges everything. Soon, they're inside the club. There's quite a crowd inside. Some people are dancing so dirty that Clarissa just wants to scream at them 'get a room.'
"Why do you come here?" She asks Jonathan.
"Because I love to party. And plus, there are lots of girls." He says.
"I knew there's a reason why you dragged me here. You're not so generous." She can't help but point out.
"You're wrong. I'm only generous when it comes to you. And I'm not here today because of them, I'm here today because of you. Now, come with me and tell me what you want to drink." Jonathan grabs her hand and guides her to the bartender. After they both get their drinks, they talk and laugh and it seems like they're having a good time. Clarissa is quite drunk and everything she does seems funny in some way. Eventually, Jonathan leaves her and goes dancing on the dance floor with a girl-demon girl, while a demon guy joins Clarissa.
They talk and she realizes that he's a good company. He's not bad either, she thinks to herself. But there's a part of her that knows it's the alcohol talking.
"You're hot, you know that?" He tells her. His blue eyes and dark hair make him so much more attractive.
"You're not so bad, either. So, what brings you here?" Clarissa asks but immediately regrets it. Victims. He must be looking for victims. And she could be one of them. She always swore that she'll never drink alcohol, only water. Because alcohol makes her dizzy and demons could quickly kill her. It's Jonathan's fault. What are they doing here, anyway? Hanging out with demons? This is not a thing Clarissa would go out and casually be doing.
This seems to wake her up from her daze. She's careful with her conversation, trying to locate Jonathan, but he's nowhere to be seen.
"I'm just looking for some company. Don't want to be home alone on Friday night, you know? Besides, I like to party. You seem like a fun person." He tells her and she can barely hold back a snort.
"Really? What makes you say that?" She leans closer, flirting a little, daring him, keeping up her act.
"I don't really know yet, But I want to find out." He leans closer and whispers in her ear: soon.
"I can't. I'm way too drunk and besides, my brother might kill you." Clarissa says, shrugging her petite shoulders.
He doesn't seem to even flinch a little, but he still asks. "You're brother's here?"
"Yes, that big guy, white hair, black eyes."
"Jonathan's your brother?" He asks and now he really seems frightened. Jonathan has quite a reputation, especially when it comes to me. "That makes you the famous Clarissa Morgenstern."
"The one and only. And I really wouldn't want my brother ruin that precious face of yours. I grew quite fond of it over these last few minutes."
"I think I'm going to take my chances." He replies. "Besides, Jonathan left with that demon woman." Somehow that doesn't scare Clarissa. Even though that there's a chance the demon might try to kill her, she's a Shadowhunter. She might be drunk, but she can defend himself. And there's a wild part inside of her that's more than begging for her to try. She's curious.
She leans in and softly kisses him on the lips, first kiss is quite soft, but then he takes control and the next few are tender and sometimes bitter-sweet. They both seem to enjoy themselves and only pull back for air.
"Now, that was something." He says. But then, he looks behind her and freezes. "I have to go," Is the next thing he says. But he quickly leans in and whispers: "Hope to see you again, soon." Then, he disappears.
She turns around to see who is behind her. Jace and his arrogant company just entered this club. Their eyes meet and Jace points Clarissa out. They haven't seen her do anything with that demon, but they all seem to want to catch her.
Now is the time to find Jonathan, Clary. She thinks to herself. She's up and trying to disappear in the crowd in less than a moment. She finds an emergency exit and searches around. Jonathan is nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, there's a hand covering her mouth.
"Be quiet, it's me."
"Jonathan! I've been worried sick. Where were you? Shadowhunters found me."
"I've been around. Come on, let's go." He starts running and she doesn't hesitate to follow. She can barely keep up, though. Running when you're drunk is very hard to do. She trips, but Jonathan catches her.
"You're more drunk than you were since I left you. So, I guess you had fun?"
"You have no idea." Is all she says.
