"After bearing the consequences of a mistake, the person either becomes a better person or completely succumbs to the atrocity." –Ram Mohan

(This scene is from Thor, but in Loki's point of view. The dialogue in this scene is not my own. I took it from the movie.)

The cold air licked my face as I stood in awe. Large towering structures that seemed to be made out of ice stood before our small group. "Right." Thor said, "We need to get moving."

The rest of them agreed and we moved forward. The Warriors Three, Lady Sif, Thor, and I. And for some reason I was beginning to think this was a bad idea. But then again, that was what I had intended this to be.

Thor stopped walking and waited till I caught up with him. The others had chatted and passed ahead of me, but I did not mind. I was not their friends. They were here for Thor, not me. Everyone did everything for Thor. It sickened me. "Thank you for agreeing with me, brother." Thor said as I neared him, clapping his giant hand on my shoulder. He looked powerful with his hammer in the other hand, the way his regalia reflected the snow. And here I was. Small and short with black hair and no weapon. I did not look glorious nor powerful. And I was afraid I would never be. Maybe if this worked…maybe.

"Your welcome, brother." I replied shortly. I did not want to engage in much talk with him. He must have understood because he remained silent whilst we trekked though the large layers of snow. We neared the crystal like structures that the Jotuns resided in. The landscape seemed barren in every direction that I looked.

Only the whiteness of the snow provided color. The rest was a dark blue or black. I had never been to Jotunheim, for father had forbidden it long ago, after the war between the Aesir and the Jotuns. My brothers rash tendencies though had lead me here. The bad feeling inside my gut worsened. This idea may be far worse then I imagined.

Our small party stood before the entrance of their palace. The dark blue structure contained many detailed carvings that covered the entire tower. For a moment we took in the sheer size of it all. It reminded me of the palace at home, but a dark version of it. "Come." Thor demanded of us all. With his head held high, he entered though its large ice doors. Here goes nothing. The rest of us followed him inside.

The throne room was the first we stumbled up on. The ceilings above us were vaulted but covered in large ice stalactites. I noticed the others next to me where beginning to shiver. That was odd. The cold had not bothered me any.

Something upon the throne moved. Its dark skin blended in with the surroundings, I almost did not notice it was there. Eyes as red as rubies were inlayed in giants large head. Raised ridges covered the skin, armor covering his lower half and legs. He sat awkwardly in his chair, as if he were expecting us.

Whilst I was examining everything, Thor and the giant were talking. I should have paid more attention. This could easily go down wrongly. Suddenly, from every angle, Jotuns appeared, dressed in similar armor like their leader. Upon their arms, ice blades grew and grew till they were long and lethal. I knew I should not have come. "I've grown tired of you mockery." Thor bellowed, his voice echoing off the ice room. Maybe I had time to stop this.

"Thor," I whispered in his ear. "Think. Look around you. We're out numbered." Thor shoved his shoulder forward in an attempt to lose me. "Know your place, brother." That was rude. I took a small step back. Maybe he did deserve this. He meant that my place was under his authority. Soon he would take it back. Soon he would know…

"You know not what you actions will unleash." The Jotun said. "I do." He continued. "Go now…While I still allow it." He moved from the shadows towards us, standing in front of my brother and I. More like towering over us. I suppose this creature could easily kill us right now. It made me swallow hard. I needed to remain calm.

"We will accept your most gracious offer." I told him. Thor whipped his head towards me with scowl upon his face. Quickly he faced the Jotun again. The two stared at each other, hatred apparent in their eyes. "Come on brother." I said at last.

I decided our lives were more valuable than pride. Call me weak, but I wish not to die in this barren realm. Thor paused a minute, but then turned around and followed me. I felt relieved. Finally he had come to his senses.

"Run back home, little princess." The giant rumbled. "Damn." I said. There was no hope for us now. A cruel smile appeared on Thor's face. Spinning around, he swung his hammer right into the chest of the Jotun king. His arms and legs stretched out before him and he flew though the air. His back crashed against one of the solid ice walls and he slid to the floor. "Next?" Thor asked. With a swing, another Jotun went flying. The war has begun.

Thor continued to knock giants though the air whilst the rest readied their weapons. Fandral drew his sword and sliced though the air with grace and speed. Hogan had a mace with him, drawing it from his belt. Volstagg had begun killing with his giant axe. Lady Sif carried her favorite: a double sided sword. And for me, well, I had my magic.

Two Jotuns approached me from the front. My arm moved back behind me, like I was going to skip a rock. With a snap of my wrist, I swung my arm forward, throwing a green blade of magic towards the giant creature. It hit my target right in the chest. The Jotun grasped its chest in pain and toppled over, taking the other one with it.

"At least make it a challenge for me!" Thor cried out. I wish he would just shut up. It was not like we were already in over our heads. Idiot. The ground shook as more Jotuns arrived. The ground began to crack as large jets of ice shot though, one hitting Volstagg in the face. Around me, I released more magic, causing the ice growing up from the ground to shatter into a million different pieces.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Thor go flying though the air. I knew he would not be hurt, and it would only fuel him to fight harder. I hoped it would work. Lady Sif and Hogan were on the left and right of me.

With more blast of magic, I took down Jotuns one at a time. Slow, but highly effective. I heard a clang and Lady Sif's sword fell a few feet from her. Hogan had her covered, but I sent another blast of magic out, distracting the Jotuns around us.

From across the room, I heard a loud cry. The floor quaked as a giant ran towards me. I cursed under my breath for the second time to day. I took a step back, but that was all. Behind me was a dark chasm in the rock. My heel was directly on the edge, but the creature was still advancing. I closed my eyes and braced myself for impact.

The Jotun flew right though me and into the icy abyss below. From behind the stalagmite I was hiding, I outstretched my hand. With a quick turn of my wrist, my illusionary doppelganger disappeared. I could not help but smile. Magic is a wonderful thing.

Ice shards flew past me and towards Lady Sif. With her shield, she deflected them. A Jotun was about to do the same before my magic hit him, causing him to stagger and topple over the edge too. Spinning around, I noticed we were not going to last long. Jotuns flooded the place. We were going to have to run.

Volstagg let out a shout. Quickly I turned to see him looking at his arms. "Don't let them touch you!" He yelled over the noise of battle. My whole body was covered in leather, including my hands. I would not have to worry about it.

My energy was running lower, and I assumed everyone else was becoming weary as well. My magic would only last me so long, but over the years I had become a master of my powers. Hopefully, they would not fail.

Releasing a cry, I raced forward into a giant. My magic struck him in the ribs. I made sure to give it a twist as soon as it punctured the creature. He fell down to his knees and shouted in pain. Blue blood emitted from the wound, flowing down its body and partially on me.

The Jotun grabbed my wrist and I looked up at him in horror. My armor began to crack away, falling to the ground. His hand still remained though. Oddly, I felt no pain. I felt something else. Coldness. Slowly my skin began to change color from the white pale it was to bright blue. My eyes meet the Jotuns again and we both knew what this meant. I was a frost giant. In a fit of rage I released more magic. I screamed and fired another blade of green at him, rendering the giant dead.

"Do the frost giants still live?" I asked Odin. The box in front of me made them seem so real… and so scary. "When I'm king," Thor said. "I'll hunt them down and slay them all!" I turned to face him and the two of us smiled.

"No…" I whispered.

The covers fluttered around me as I struggled to sit up in bed. My breathing was heavy and I felt hot, like I was sick with a fever. Where were the giants? What about Thor? The past few years hit me like a stampede of horses. Midguard. I was on Midguard. There were no giants, just me and this mortal.

Looking down at my hands, I realized I was blue. The covers crunched as I shifted in bed. A layer of frost covered the blankets. How long have I been in this state? I glared down at myself again. I wanted to cry out in rage again, just like I did in my dream. Closing my eyes, I forced myself to exhale. I did so very slowly. When I peered back down again, the blue was retreating. My pale skin was once again. I loathed my monstrous Jotun state. The day I discovered it has plagued my memories ever since. Some nightmares worse than others. This one was rather mild, but for some reason, I had a bad reaction to it.

I moved again, knocking some ice to the floor. Surpisingly, it did not make a loud noise as it hit the floor. Some of the blankets were stuck to me though, which was an issue. My hands grasped the edge and with a swift pull, the covers ripped from my icy skin.

I wanted to scream. It felt like pulling a bandage off a partially healed wound. Quickly I bit down upon my finger to silence myself. My legs and stomach throbbed with pain. As it began to subside, I scooted to the edge of the small bed. The bed resided inside the couch, but Christina pulled it out of there for me to sleep on. She took her own bed chambers back. I did not mind, for I was just happy she agreed to help me.

Yesterday she made me participate in some volunteer work. It was awful. Work without pay! Why would anyone do that?! But on Midguard, it was considered something good to do. I considered it as a rip off. Chrissy told me to shut up after that remark. I suppose it was better than being whipped or some of the other wonderful torture techniques that they used on me whilst I was imprisoned.

It was in one of my favorite places back in Asguard. The library. There was a small group of people who helped out. Shelving books is what they called the task. They were printed with authors and numbers upon them. We were supposed to find where they belong and stick them there.

It became irritating though. "What's wrong?" Chrissy asked. I had been working for hours now and I was stuck. "I cannot find where this one goes!" I whispered to her. I knew to be quiet, but it was tempting to yell. I was frustrated, what can I say? "I'm sure it goes somewhere. There's bound to be a spot for it around here." She replied, stuffing another book onto the shelf.

"Maybe it doesn't belong here!" I snapped, dropping the book from my hands. Chrissy turned to face me. She did not look angry or upset, which I thought she would be. Calmly, she picked the old volume up off the floor. "Then I'll find where it belongs." She wrapped her arms around the book and walked away.

Why I remembered that know, I did not know. My feet touched the floor and I retracted them quickly. It was cold. Must be where the ice landed. I placed them back on the floor and stood up. As I stood though, I slipped and slammed back down on the bed. Ouch.

I heard footsteps coming towards the living room and a click of the lighswitch. The light seemed very dim, but the glow was enough to illuminate the room. Ice was everywhere. It coated the ceiling, the floors, her television set, the bookshelf, and even the front door. Great. She was for sure going to kick me out now. Throw back on the streets to wander this lowly realm for eternity. Wonderful.

What played out before me was just about as strange as the ice. She looked…amazed. Her eyes flitted around the room, looking at everything so delicately coated in ice crystals. The ice around the light in the ceiling seemed to entrance her the most. "My living room looks like Narnia." She whispered.

It was nonsense to me, but she appeared to actually be happy about it. I was at a loss of words. Why was she not angry with me? "We are definitely going to need a mop tomorrow." She said, finally looking at me. "And you look cold. You want another blanket? Oh, how about some hot chocolate? I can go make some of that." She rambled, carefully walking over the icy floors.

"You're not mad?" I questioned. "Well, did you do it purposely?" She asked, turning to face me. "No, it was purely accidental." Which was true. My stupid Jotun form caused all this. "But are you not suppose to yell and kick me out? Banish me from your room?" Chrissy placed her hands upon her hips.

"I'm your Confidant, right?" I slowly nodded. "And I'm suppose to help you right?" I nodded again. "You do not have-" She gave me a look that made me stop talking. "Don't make this any harder for me. I am a little mad, but I don't think you did it purposely. How you could have done it on accident, I don't know. Then again, I don't know anything about magic and stuff. So, do you want that hot chocolate or not?" For some odd reason, I was grinning. "I shall try it, if you do not mind." Chrissy smiled back and headed into the kitchen.

She emerged a few minutes later with two glasses of the drink. "Well, I have to go to work tomorrow." Chrissy said after handing me the hot mug. "So I'm going to go back to sleep." Still, she stood their awkwardly. "I heard you scream." She whispered. "Are you okay?" I set the mug down upon the small table near the couch. "Do not worry, I am fine." I told her. "Are you sure? I mean I don't know what all this means but you sounded like-" I sat up off the couch and stood in front of her. "I said, I am fine mortal. Leave. Me. Be."

Fear flashed before her green eyes. She did not break eye contact. How brave. Chrissy stepped back a few paces before turning around and running towards her room. "Chrissy, I-" The door to her room slammed shut, and I became silent. I sat down on the bed, completely forgetting the beverage she left me. She was trying to be nice and I scared her off. And for the first time in a long time, I felt bad about it. I laid back down in the icy mess that was in the bed. I truly was a monster, wasn't I?
