As a young girl, Katherine Howard was given the nickname of Kitty by her three older siblings: Charles, George, and Margaret. She lived a peaceful life away from court at her family's home in Norfolk until her mother's untimely death giving birth to a stillborn daughter who was named Mary.

Mere weeks after the funeral for her mother, Kitty along with Margaret travels to the English court to join the rest of her family on the orders of her uncle the Duke of Norfolk.

When they final arrived at court, they were met by both Charles and George who informed them that they must go their Uncle's apartments at once.

The Duke of Norfolk orders "My beloved nieces, I see that you arrive safely but the Duchess's ladies-in-waiting shall help you dress immediately to meet with her majesty the Queen"

Nearly a hour late, the Duchess of Norfolk accompanies her husband's nieces to the Queen's apartments. These two Howard sisters politely and gracefully presents themselves to their Queen.

Catherine then informs them "Lady Margaret shall join Princess Mary's household as one of her companions and Lady Katherine shall join Princess Isabel's household" naming them to her daughter's household's based on their age.

After serving in Princess Isabel's household since her mother's death. Kitty formed a almost sister-like bond with the Princess over the years. So when it came time for Princess Isabel to marry, it was no surprise that she chose Kitty as one of ladies-in-waiting.

When Princess Isabel set sail to France to marry her Prince, Kitty went as Lady Katherine Culpeper whose husband held a spot her the Princess's household as well.
