Guilty

There had always been the chance it would end like this. He'd made his choice, years ago, and had few regrets. Sweet Trade. Free Man. Pirate.

He listened with some amusement as the charges were read aloud, some entirely false, some grossly exaggerated. But even the least of those that were true was enough to warrant punishment under the law. And taken all together…well, that was why he was standing here, wasn't it?

Condemned. For a lifetime of wickedness. And no deed was good enough to remove the guilt of that. Or to merit mercy from anyone, except God. Perhaps.
