-Jadedsnowtiger.
I awoke in a fog, I felt as if I was floating on air. I opened my eyes looking around unsure.
For the first time in a long time my mind wasn't foggy and I could think straight. But seeing my father's ex-girlfriend at my side make me question that.
"Jade?" I whispered softly unsure if it was the drugs or not.
The last time I had saw her we had made peace between each other, besides the fact she was a bitch and trying to date my dad she was a great person. I had begun to respect her.
"It's me, kid," Jade nodded, passing me a glass of water placing the straw in my mouth. "you've been out for a while." She explained softly as she got up walking around the room.
"Why is everything so clear?" I asked unsure, as I watched her move around.
"The doctors thought it would be best to let you sleep after your operation." She walked over to the side table of my bed, reaching for the water bottle. "We put you though withdraw from some of the medication you were on."
"Take a sip." She whispered, as she brought the water over to me. "It will help."
"How long?" I asked unsure.
"About a week, you were where on some strong medications." She smiled softly, "You went through hell well you slept, your father barely left your side."
"Where is Daddy?"
"With Dr. Quest and his Lawyer." Jade told me as she sat up on my bed, rearranging the pillows around my head, as she attempted to comfort me. I moved the bed up in to a sitting position, attempting to get comfortable though the pain.
"Your father wanted to be here when you awoke," Jade told me softly, "I thought it would be best to have a female with you. Benton agrees with me."
I nodded agreeing with her, I found comfort in the fact she was with me.
"Thank you." I whispered softly, drinking more water.
"Why is Daddy at the lawyer?"
"When the Doctor was preparing you for surgery, she made note of the bruise, photographing them. When you father learn-"
"What does he know?" I jumped up too quickly, causing a rush of pain up my stomach.
Jade pressed the pain pump at my side a short of morphine ran though my blood, but I had no idea where the tears where coming from it seemed to be all I was doing lately.
"Your father was very unhappy to learn from you that your step-father was threaten to remove your son, if you refused him,"
"Where is he?" I asked biting back the tears.
"Jonny has grown very protective of him." Jade smiled proudly. "We attempt to bring Lucius to visit you well you slept, but it was too upsetting for him. Jonny and Hidji have been keeping him busy."
I didn't notice I had started crying until Jade took me in to her arms, comforting me as she sat back against the bed.
"Daddy mad at me?" I whispered softly unsure, as she held me close.
"No, not at you. With Estella. She had removed you from a very safe environment only to place you in hell."
Jade pet my hair softly, "The drugs in your system where pretty scary to, you where on very high doses that would have killed anyone else."
I nodded as I lay down cuddling as close to her as I could.
"When did you and daddy start getting along?" I asked closing my eyes.
"Yes, when the doctor's house cleaner died, the boys lost the last female in their lives. When I ran into the family in London, I noticed had depressed the boys where… After convincing your father, I turned straight, cleaned up my act and become a part of their lives. It wasn't easy, Jonny and Hadji both gave me trouble, seeing how far they could push me.. But when they saw I wasn't about to leave them they gave in."
I smiled thinking of the stunts Jonny would have pulled; Hidji came as a surprise though I couldn't see him giving Jade or Dad any problems. I fell asleep listening to her talk about the trouble the boys put her though.
I woke the next morning to Dr. Quest sitting in the visitor's chair. He was watching me over his medical magazine smiling warmly at me. "How are you feeling?"
"Sore," I admitted as I sat up, looking around the room.
"To be expected, the doctor wants you off that morphine" He told me softly, "Should i call for something?"
"A tea?" I asked softly, his eyes lighting up.
"A tea would be great." Dr. Quest smiled, as he got up. "Your bedroom is close to the common pantry, I'll go grab us some- would you sugar?."
"Just black, unless they have honey." I told him softly.
"So you know Jade's is with us now." Dr, Quest came back into the room moment later being in the drinks.
"Since when do all of you get along?" I asked unsure.
"To make a long story short, " Dr Quest nodded, sitting back in his chair. "She has helped us through some hard times, between losing you and Mrs. Evens passing away."
I looked down; I had always loved Mrs. Evens cooking. I wish I had been able to say goodbye.
"Losing you has been hard on us all," Dr. Quest took my hand; "I am not losing you again."
I sadly looked up to him, "I don't want to go back,"
"You're not," Dr. Quest promised me softly, "I am not going to lose my daughter again, especially now."
The soft bark came from under the bed, as Dr. Quest reached down, bring the white dog on to the bed. "I believe Bandit agrees."
"Hey, Bandit." I laughed, as Bandit licked my face, settling down. "I missed you too boy,"
I told him petting his ears as he lay down beside me, belly up.
"How is Bandit still alive? He has to be almost 13 by now.." I asked Dr. Quest, as he watched Bandits display.
Dr. Quest sat up, "I really don't have a clue, but he's still acts like a puppy."
"You can't go in there." A voice called from out of the hall as my hospital room swung up slamming against the wall.
The Door opened with Mom walking in, "Jessie why did you call me, I've been worried sick,"
"Mom?" I looked to Dr. Quest as Michel came in behind her.
"You can't be in here." Dr. Quest spoke to Michel, "We have a restraining order against the both of you."
I sat up on the bed, to quickly, as I watched Michel shoved Dr. Quest back, his bad leg giving out on him as he fell to the ground.
"Papa." I called out the name unsure of what to do as the door closed. the nurse on the side calling out for security,
"What happened, baby?" Mom asked walking over to my side. She looked so full of concern, like she had no idea why i was really here.
"You need to leave Mr. Keller." Dr. Quest repeated, as he tried to get off the floor.
"Jessica is my daughter," Michel told him, as he seemed to notice Bandit on the bed for the first time. "Get that fucking mutt out of her bed,"
"Bandit is keeping me company." I whispered softly, petting the bulldog.
"You just have emergency surgery, and you're letting a dirty animal lie with you?" Michel picked up Bandit by the neck.
"Don't hurt him." I bagged, as he dropped Bandit to the ground. I cried out as Bandit it the ground, before hiding under the bed with a whimper.
"Mom!" I turned to her. "Stop him, please."
"We are only looking out for you Jessie." She took my hand softly, looking around the room.. "Your leaving this hospital, we're taking you home."
"That wasn't my home." I told her, pulling my hand back.
"Jessie is not fit to leave." Dr Quest stood up. "She's till recovering."
"Jessica is my daughter, I know what's best for her." Mother told him, as she attempted to remove the iv from my hand as I pulled away from her. My pain in my stomach was getting worse as I fought back.
"You can't remove her from this hospital." Dr. Quest spoke up, walking over to me, as I got out of bed putting my bed between me and my mother. "Jessie has a dangerous infection-"
"She will be seeing the best care when we return home," Michel spoke up, as he step closer.
"Mom, I don't want to go." I told her as Michel grabbed hold of me, pulling me towards him. I fought back, against him weakly.
"She said, no," I heard as I felt someone pull me from Michel arms.
I turned to face my father, as he held back Michel giving him over to a police officer whom quickly began reading him his rights.
"Race, you have no right to be doing this." I heard mom complain.
"Ask Jessie who the father of her son is," Dad demanded of her, as I shook my head. I could see blood as it started to soak through the hospital gown i was wearing.
"The gardener, wasn't it Jessie?" Mom asked, as I attempted to stop myself from throwing up in pain.
"No, it wasn't." I told her, shaking. "I was kept in a lock room, remember?"
"The door was never locked." Mother lied, as she took a step closer.
"I never met the fucking gardener," I told her loudly once I caught my breath. "Your fucking husband crawled into my bed,"
"Jessica, you're Delusional." Michel spoke up as he fought against the cops. "He never hurt you."
"Jessie is this true?" Mom asked.
"I want his DNA." Dad told the cop who nodded; as Daddy gave the second cop a business card. "Sent it to this address in care of Phil Corvin." The second police officer nodded taking the card.
"Mrs. Keller, you should come with us." The second police officer told her as Michel was taken out of the room.
"Why are you lying to these people Jessie?" Mother asked softly, the words stabbing me like a knife, as I held on to the bed with the only energy i had left.
I looked up to her in shock. "I am not mom,"
Mom looked down to me, "I don't believe this." She shook her head, "Why would Michel hurt you after everything he has ever done to help you?"
"Are you blind Estella? Look at the bruises on your daughter's body!" Dad spoke up.
"How do I know you didn't put them there?" Mom turned to him, before turning to the police officer, "How much to make my husband bail?"
"We'll do that downtown ma'am." The police officer led her out of the room.
The room stayed silent as the cops left, gasping for breath, I fell to the floor noticing the puddle of blood.
"Daddy." I felt myself scream, as Dr Quest called for Doctor.
Father rushed to my side, ignoring the blood as he attempted to keep me calm.
"Mom went with him," I said softly, turning away from everyone. "She chose him over me,"
I begin crying, as I felt daddy pick me up, holding me close.
