"As you know, we've known you since early middle school." Kasai began, her steely silver eyes moving to the coffee table's polished wooden surface. It gleamed in the morning sun, giving her a source to lay her eyes. Her body was as frail and tiny as it always seemed, she was sitting crisscrossed on the floor, back to the couch as her half brother sat with his legs spread on the sides of her hips. They looked so alike it was hard to realize they were only HALF-siblings. Kagome's sapphire eyes stayed put on her childhood friend she knew so little about, body stiff and even somewhat tense- awaiting the story behind Sesshomaru's and Kasai's relationship.
"It started when we met you..." The fire caster continued. "I had protected you and your mother from your father's abuse when i was walking up your shrine steps to buy a souvenir for my grandmother... I wanted to mail her something she would love- and shes' always liked shrine's traditional appearance and cultures."
Kagome was able to recall that the first memory she ever received from first looking at Kasai was indeed that memory. She smiled softly as Kasai told her the backstory for her ending up there in the first place. Her eyes softened. Kasai was very considerate and sweet- even if she didn't seem it.
"Of course i didn't go there by myself, Inuyasha and everyone else was there- but i made it to the top first and so... i reacted first. When everyone else joined me by you and your mother's side, we had already become acquaintances. I held out my hand to you and you took it, but then hugged me and started crying into my chest."
Kagome's eyes glimmered with the suns glowing rays- trying her best to find anything in the confines of her mind that matched the story...she flinched when her temples pulsed...revealing a flashback. It was of her face smothered into Kasai's chest, her arms woven tightly around the demoness, wailing like a child into her saviors arms. Kasai didn't jerk away from her, or act nervous. Instead the fire caster hugged Kagome back, ran her fingers through the student's hair and whispered softly..."Its ok...he won't hurt you anymore...not when i'm here." The memory was warm, very, very, warm. It must've been Kasai's body...everything of this female felt warm- and cozy. It was comforting.
"The next day we didnt expect to see you, Inuyasha had pissed me off at passing time- and i started chasing him with a bow from archery practice, i chased him all the way to the courtyard where you had P.E- and the both of us ran straight into you. Ever since then you've been with us. You were the first to realize how Sesshomaru and I felt for each other...and you tried to get us together."
Kagome's eyes widened like a childs. "I did?" she asked with a bewildered look. Kasai nodded in reply- the corners of her mouth twitching ever so slightly. "You noticed how he always seemed jealous whenever Bankotsu touched me so freely, his eyes would narrow and he'd make a 'tch' sound before walking away like he was bothered..."
Kagome looked at Sesshomaru at this time, he was looking at the floor with a emotionless expression, but even though you couldn't read him- he seemed melancholy. She furrowed her brows at this...confused. The story sounded light so far. Why was everyone saying Kasai and Sesshomaru couldn't be together? Or that it wouldn't work out?
"However when you ushered him to make a move, he did...and i realized something." Kasai's pure eyes landed on her bare feet, averting them from the coffee table. Kouga shifted from leaning back to sitting straight and up, placing a hand on his sister's shoulder as if to comfort her.
She took a shaky breath and continued, it sounded like she was somewhat nervous. "Sesshomaru was already in love with another girl- someone he loved with all his being, that'd he do anything to protect, that had him smitten... But she died due to her weak body a few years later...we were very close to her- no one but me and him knew of her in the group, she was a childhood friend of ours, and ours alone. Gentle, soft, cheerful, kind, and always happy...even when her world was crumbling...she'd mask her true emotions and move forward to make others happy." Kasai fisted her hands on her knees, as she shifted to a kneeling position, her head down casted as her shoulders shook with silent sobs. The light from outside slowly got brighter- morning sun beginning to rise ever more slowly.
"He loved me yes...but he loves Rin so much more..." She cringed and continued forcing her voice over the cracks of emotion in her voice. Inuyasha who sat by Kagome, turned his head away the time Bankotsu looked down at the ground. They seemed affected seeing Kasai like this. Kouga wrapped his arms around his sister, a tiny hug that only seemed to help her calm the tiniest. His large arms caging his tiny sister in his embrace made her seem all the more small.
What took Kagome by surprise was Sesshomaru's position. He was clenching his thigh with his nails digging into his skin, one knee up while the other laid in a half criss cross. His silver silky hair tussled over his shoulder, as his bangs hid his eyes from view- but by the way he shook, he must've been trying to contain his tears.
"When I realized Sesshomaru loved Rin more than he could love anyone else, i was hurt..of course, but understood- because Rin was the most important person to me in a way as well. She had this aura that made me want to protect her- she always tried her best, was kind to everyone, happy, cheerful- and honest..However. When she died...around August 15th i snapped. I was in denial.." she exhaled. "I couldn't believe that everything...was taken away with her. You were always there for me, you were my shoulder to cry on, and i still couldn't come to terms with her death...i couldn't, i was too affected... i was careless one night moping around on the streets as i walked home- and failed to look both ways before crossing the road. Thusly I was hit by a drunk driver." Kagome gasped, Kasai was hit by a car and survived?...Well she was a demon but still that was dangerous...
"In the hospital you and Kouga ran up to the room i was in, you two were fussing over me and asking me what had happened. When i told you the story behind Rin, me and Sesshomaru- you felt at fault...and also angry at Sesshomaru." Kagome understood why she felt at fault- for even now as this story was retold she felt at fault. As for being angry at Sesshomaru- she didn't know why.
"You two left..then Sesshomaru showed up, he was angry at me for being so consumed by my grief to have gotten myself hurt. It pissed me off how calm and collected he was, i started a fight...it caused him to finally break down, holding his head and screaming at me.."
"You...How can you be so calm?! RIN DIED SESSHOMARU! She's gone! And you know why?! Because we didn't realize how sick she had gotten and we forced her to go out on her birthday! YOU DONT FEEL AT FAULT FOR HER-" Sesshomaru threw the chair he was sitting in across the room, his eyes so cold it felt like ice even to Kasai.
"You don't think i know this? RIN WAS MY EVERYTHING! The reason i love music is because of her! She showed me the light to it when everything was dark! Thanks to her i am who i am! AND NOW SHES GONE! Do you know how that makes me feel? USELESS. I couldn't help the one person i wanted to protect with my everything..." He sunk to his knees in front of Kasai, her eyes wide and shocked- having never seen Sesshomaru this way. He held his head and grunted. "I'll never see her again...my feelings...will never reach her..." He rasped.
"I couldn't ..protect..." Her arms that were once in the air making angry gestures fell limply to her sides, fresh tears springing into the corners of her snow colored eyes, and falling like heavy dewdrops. This is how Sesshomaru felt- the man that loved that tiny girl with all his soul- breaking down like a child in front of her. The ice hearted demon...breaking down over a loss.
"Sorry..." She whispered quietly, her fists turning white at her knuckles. "Sorry..." She shook her head, bangs falling over her eyes with a shadow- her head down-casting in shame. "Sorry..." she sobbed.
Kagome hadn't realized it but she had began to cry. Kasai looked up, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"If me and Sesshomaru where to ever be together, i'd only be looked at in comparison to Rin. The only way for us to ever move forward is if we both get over Rin's death... And even if i have...Sesshomaru hasn't. She will always be in his heart- and there's no room for anyone else."
Kagome wanted to say it wasn't true- that he COULD still love Kasai, but due to her memory loss...how could she be so sure?

It bothered her...Kagome looked at the ground as she walked, her sapphire eyes staring intently at her feet- watching where she stepped. She was in her own little world- constantly going over Kasai's words, the tone in her voice- how she told the story, her emotions that she tried to hide so well...it bothered her.
Kagome looked up at the bright blue sky, white fluffy clouds blocked the sun, moving slowly past her view. She sighed. "Kasai...i can tell." speaking to herself was how Kagome sometimes got out her emotions and distress. And right now, her distress and mixed emotions was of Kasai. She was worried about her...
"KAGOME!" said miko almost jumped out of her skin at the scream. She turned around to peer over her shoulder, and was happily surprised to see Yuki and Ayumi running towards her with waving arms. They didn't stop running even when they were a few feet away, instead they wrapped their arms around her and embraced her tightly, a full on glomp squeezing the highschool student till her back popped.
"Gkkk!" She moaned in pain with a strained smile. She was glad to see them, honest..but right now wasn't the time.
"Kagome! we're so glad we found you..." Ayumi pushed her face close to the ningens her brows furrowed and glasses clear.
"I thought you got raped! I'm so glad your ok..." Yuki's hands were clasped together with intertwined fingers. Both their expressions were genuinely worried, it brought a smile to the distressed high-schooler's face.
"Deets girl, deets." Yuki winked, "I saw you with a silver haired hottie..but then i lost sight of you two. Either you-" she made thrusting motions with her arms on the sides of her hips "'GOT SOME' or you got ROOFIED.."
Kagome choked on her air and covered her mouth giggling, Yuki was such a character.
"Guys you might wanna find somewhere we can all sit down for this story..."

Yuki whistled as she set her cup down with a clank. They were in a tiny restaurant eating some burgers and had just gotten the details from Kagome. Of course she didn't tell them the ENTIRE story truthfully just that she had some memory loss and a couple of old childhood friends had shown up...no one special.
"That sounds exciting...so they're all visiting you and hoping you remember them soon?" Ayumi asked with a grin.
Kagome nodded, her ebony hair shining in the lowlight of the restaurant. "I get tiny flashbacks every now and then about them but it hurts. I even passed out once."
Yuki and Ayumi gasped simultaneously.
"Anyways, its no big deal-"
Thick ebony hair tied up in a small ponytail. A single feather slipped onto the side of her right ear. Her eyes were red with eye shadow of light purple and a business suit adding to her professional attire
.'Please, the only reason your memories are being sealed is because of your heritage. You- an reincarnation of that cursed women...and the power you possess- which exceeds her..It would have been fine if you hadn't met...THOSE people who awoken and strengthened your abilities- worse yet you denied the boss his yearning for your soul...don't take this personally miko, i'm just doing my uncles orders.'
Her hand shot to her temples and she grimaced. What was that?...Kagome looked back the female...her...that was HER voice. Said female left with her coffee, slipping out the double doors busily staring down at her smart phone.
"Guys...i have to go.." Kagome sat up quickly before her friends could respond and she was out the door.
"KAGURA! Let Kagome go NOW!"
She couldn't breathe, there was an arm tightly against her neck- suffocating her.
"Sorry mutt but Kagome can't be able to know about her powers- I'm just making sure Unkie's little toy stays oblivious...nothing personal just business."
No...Stop, she just learned everything about herself- about the gang...about her heritage and how she could save other girls from being sold by that disgusting spider..
Naraku...her abilities being awakened from Kasai and her group- her relationships with them...Kikyou.
Her vision clouded as her memories all flooded back to her at once. Too much..

Kagome had met Kasai on her shrine grounds. She had protected her from her father and helped her mother kick him out of their lives. They met again at middles school and she became apart of the tiny group of hers. They always studied music and eventually told her they were demons searching for their old friend Kikyou who had been abducted by an egotistical psychopath. Kagome decided to help and got closer to all of them- becoming a huge part of their lives. She and Kouga had a 'thing' but never got around to it once Inuyasha was first to ask her out. Yet he seemed to usually mop around about Kikyou's disappearance he got over it with Kagome's fresh personality.
Kasai and everyone had made their debut on an reality pop-sensation show, all the while in their famous masks. They soon became famous almost instantly afterwards.
Kasai's and Sesshomaru's situation also became clear to her: They love each other, but Sesshomaru loves another even more. He can't get over Rin's death even though it was 4 years ago going onto 5... Kasai moved on and seemed to still be hoping for him to come around- which angered Kagome..
Everything...everything was clear.
Inuyasha- her first boyfriend, Kouga her first love, Bankotsu her first guy friend, Kasai her best friend- Kikyou...the women she still hasn't met.
It was all clear. Her miko abilities...the one thing that can overpower Naraku with ease all inside her. He is desperate to keep what he's stolen and continue his slave trading with all his demonic power as he can- and Kagome was a threat, so when Kasai began teaching her more strengths it was a big red flag so he erased her memories with as much force as he could and sent the demons away with a bluffing threat.
They eventually realized the bluff but couldn't go to Kagome right away with their info on her lost memories for it COULD have killed her. They gave her 3 years then came out of the shadows- only when her miko reiki was strongest.
Now..she was awakened. NOW she was her- Kagome Higurashi.
Her head spun...it was hot..
"Ouch.."
She groggily opened her eyes, only to be met with steely silver eyes.
"Kagome! You're ok! What happened?! Your friends brought you back unconscious-"
Kasai was frantic with worry like a mother over her youngest child, it made Kagome's eyes filled with tears leading her unable to contain her happiness as she flung herself at Kasai and began wailing happily.
"I REMEMBER!" she sniffled into the short casters shoulder.
"I remember you all...I'm so sorry...sorry..." it was silent for a while before more bodies pressed into the hug that shocked Kasai silent, and everyone began laughing. Kagome remembered. Now they could go after Naraku..and finally get Kikyou back.

"She's awake.."
"Really? Wow...looks like your seal really WASN'T foolproof then huh?"
"Tch..shut up- i doubt i'll get in trouble besides its his own fault for not awakening me stronger.."
"Yea its totally boss's fault..you go break the news to him- the most that'll happen is probably a rough romp for you two but y'know...you like it like that."
"Ha, remind me to kill you first in the war that we're about to start."
"Right back at you...TRAITOR."
