It has been about three months since Daichi and Malli have started dating. As well as Light and Lindzie. They have now graduated with their high school diplomas and are setting off to collage. Light, of course, was going to be a detective, like his father. Malli wanted to be a teacher, Daichi wants to ne a Writer, but since he needs a job to at least earn enough for living beforehand, you never know what kind of situation he'll end up in! So as a result, Daichi is working in the book store, where he met Mali, full time. Lindzie is now studying to be a Crime Scene Investigator. They all have bright futures! Or so they thought, well at least Lindzie, anyway.
Malli had just got out of her classes for the day, when she received a call from her best friend, Lindzie.
"Hey, Lindzie! How's it goin'?" Malli smiled as she answered the call.
"Hey! Malli! I was wondering, can you come over to my place? I have something very important to discuss with you." Lindzie said, a slight stern tone edging her voice.
"Sure! I just got out of classes, I'll be right over!" Malli laughed. She looked at the watch that Daichi bought her for their One-month Anniversary. It was about 3:30 PM. "I'll be over in ten! How's that sound?"
"Perfect!" Lindzie squealed and hung up the phone.
Malli hung up the phone and started making her way to Lindzie's apartment. Lindzie doesn't live with her father anymore, she lives on her own, in the apartment building across the street from her father's, she wants to stay close to family. It was about a ten minute walk from the university that Malli want to, to study teaching. Once Malli arrived, she went to the elevator and pressed the button. It took about a minute to come, but once the doors opened, Malli went tot enter, but she bumped into someone. The person she bumped into stood up and offered Malli a hand. She looked up and saw Light Yagami, the very person she loathes. She stood up, not taking his offer and made her way into the elevator. Light followed her in as she pressed the button to floor 4. The elevators closed and they were left in silence.
"Malli, long time no see!" Light gave a closed eye smile as he spoke gleefully.
"What do you want, asshole." Mall spat, looking away from the man. "what are you doing here anyways?"
"I came to see Lindzie, but-"
"You were just leaving. SO why did you get back on the elevator? Creep." Malli finished for him, venom filling her voice, more so with each word. The doors opened to floor 4, and Malli left the elevators just as she spat one last line, "Don't talk to me again, you bastard."
Malli made her way towards room 308, Lindzie's apartment, as she pulled out a key from her purse. Lindzie had given Malli a key, so she could enter and leave as she pleases. Malli would have done the same, but she still lived with her grandmother. She found it cheaper, as well as a better way to get her studies done. No part time jobs to worry about, and no tax fees to an apartment. Lindzie was lucky though. Her father paid for her apartment and for her schooling, being the wealthy man he was, offered it as a reward for getting honours and a diploma.
When Malli reached the apartment room, she put the key in the lock, turned it right all the way, hearing a click and she turned the lock the way she up it in and pulled the key out. She successfully unlocked the door. Malli had stopped knocking (even though she had a key, she still knocked. It was out of courtesy), when Lindzie gave her a lecture about not knocking when she was given a key. Malli tried to say its out of courtesy and respect and what-not, but Lindzie was stubborn, and said otherwise.
When Malli walked in, she turned around, closing the door and locking it, following Lindzie's wishes. She walked to the living room and saw the news was on. The topic was about the 'Dead Flower' killings and that 'Dead Flower' has not yet responded to Kira's message.
If I were Dead Flower, I wouldn't respond, but if I had too, I would mother fucking say no! Malli thought, bitterly.
The 'Dead Flower' killings have only gotten more frequent and worse then before, as well as the Kira killings. Malli was conserved and worried, not for her own, but for Daichi's and Lindzie's sake. She was worried that something might happen to them, being that there were two psychopaths out there.
"Lindzie!" Malli called making her ay to Lindzie's bedroom. "I'm here!"
Malli walled in the bedroom and walked over to her friend, who appeared to be sleeping. She shook the girl, but nothing happened. Malli shook her friend again and again. Still nothing.
"Lindzie! Wake up!" Malli snapped, getting annoyed, thinking that her friend was playing with her. "Lindzie!"
Malli put her fingers to Lindzie's neck, checking for a pals. Nothing. She out her head to Lindzie's chest, listening for a heartbeat. Nothing. Malli jumped up and screamed at the top of her lungs in horror. He worst fear was right in front of her. No, not a dead body, but her best friend, dead, lifeless, gone. Lindzie was dead.
Tears fell down Malli's face as pulled out her iPhone, and dialled the emergency number for the police. Malli had never thought that she would have to talk to the police again. She had hoped not too.
"What's your emergency?" A feminine voice said over the phone.
Malli took a shaky breath. "My friend, she's dead. Please help! I don't know what to do I just got here and she's dead!"
"Alright, someone will be there in a few minutes. Please stay calm until help arrives." The woman said.
"Thank you." Malli said and hung up the phone. She looked at Lindzie's desk and saw the journal that she gave her, as well as a note on top. Malli walked over to take a closer look and noticed that the letter was addressed to her. It was tied to the journal, meaning that Lindzie wanted her to have it. Malli took the journal and letter and quickly placed it into her purse and zipped the zipper.
If the police ask to check my purse and ask about the journal and letter, Malli thought, I'll just say it's form Daichi. If they ask Daichi, he knows that Lindzie wanted me to have it. He'll go along with it. Yes, Daichi will. He will because he loves me and I love him, But, now that Lindzie is gone, I won't be the same again. I'm sure I'll be happy, but I'll never, ever, trust anyone but Grandma and Daichi. Never. I will only trust Grandma and Daichi. Only them.
Just then, sirens were heard and tires screeched. A few minutes later. The police burst through the door. As well as C.S.I. Malli was in a corner, opposite to Lindzie's dead body, crying silently to herself, grief over losing her best friend, she hugged her legs as she burrowed her head in her knees.
Malli's life has now changed, more so than ever.
